Dropped in for post concert drinks and it was ok. I guess to those who know what they like, their standard signature drinks can be different. We tried a few, Nightingale Martini (listed as 2.5 oz) $18 (2/5) Where to start? So.... a standard martini at a nicer restaurant is usually considered two drinks, so them indicating it is a 2.5 oz in addition with the rest of the other ingredients. This martini unaltered is considered one drink. Unless indicated one wants a double. So to those who usually orders a martini, Nightingale's standard is 1 drink or half a martini to most martini drinkers. Or if you are a regular, you need to order a double. I had to explain this to my American friends multiple times over the years. Espresso Martini (2.5/5) Nothing special BB Old Fashioned (3/5) This was a better concoction Signature Side car (2/5) Too sweet, brandy is already sweet and round, the combo of the cointreau etc... was too much. Positive Description on the menu was clearly visible and honest about what was included. With signatures lean towards the sweet palate. What a beautiful location . This restaurant is lovely , dimly lit downstairs with a gorgeous open ceiling and beautiful bar . Upstairs a second level looking over the downstairs and an open kitchen . Really quite impressive. The food was good we ordered quite a bit in order to get an all around experience. Roasted Brussels Sprouts where ok Seared Tuna was delicious Sweet potato was different and I enjoyed it. The Chorizo Pizza was good but could have been a tad bit crispier. Pork belly was delicious. Salted Caramel Crème De Pot and Chocolate Ganache where fantastic. Now onto the staff . My very first experience with the hostess was less than stellar . We had reservations for 9:15 and arrived at 9:02 the small lobby / reception area is very small . While a few others where checking in before us we waited our turn patiently. The young man at the desk said hello and I informed him we had a reservation for 915 . The young women standing beside him at the tablet asked what time , again I said 915 and her snarky response was " yeah , you're going to have to wait your reservation is 915 the table isn't ready" . At no time did I think we didn't have to wait I was simply checking in. Our server was lovely , friendly, checked in often but not too pushy or over bearing . My second off putting experience with staff was the person who served our bottle of wine . ( I'm not sure if this was the sommelier our server spoke of or simply a runner ) . When they produced the bottle I asked if they knew much about the wine or the winery , a local BC favourite. Their response was a very flat , very unpleasant, uninterested no and a Hmm when I asked. Maybe they where having a bad day but I just found 2 poor staff interactions off putting . The food was good , the location beautiful, most staff where fantastic, if you're willing to look past the poor attitudes/ interactions. Customer service is a big thing for me and I'm just not . Really liked this place quite a lot! It is a very pretty restaurant with high ceilings and attractive decor. There are nightingale statues on the walls, an attractive wood adorned bar and two levels of seating. Our server was very friendly and attentive and the food was consistently very good. They serve food family style and our party of three had the fries, meatballs, pepperoni pizza and salmon. The fries were very well seasoned, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The pizza was cooked in a wood fired stove with the right amount of char on the crust and not too much sauce. The meatballs were god, but not great. I'd say the highlight of the meal was the salmon. It was perfectly cooked and the sauce was very rich. I truly loved it. I wish I'd taken picture of the food and the restaurant, but the pictures others have taken do the place justice. read more

A nice crowd of mostly younger people and a smattering of adventurous older couples. The absolute martini dirty was excellent and the service impeccable. They even had a pickled onion for the martini - a rare occurrence I've found, nowadays. I had focaccia as a starter, asparagus, and the ravioli. The focaccia was good but not typical focaccia. It was home made and very light and fluffy bs the denser version I expected. Not really any herbs in it either. Good but different. Then the ravioli came but no asparagus - each item is served on its own I see. The ravioli was delightful and the asparagus cooked to perfection - not too soft and not too firm. Even if you don't drink gin, the beautiful colour of mixing Ampersand gin, blackberry, and lemon would be impressive to you. The Buttermilk Fried Chicken was special to us. It was different from typical fried chicken. As a fan of wood-fired pizza, it is impossible not to try it. You can find the charring on the edges of your pizza. It is a hallmark of the Neapolitan style. Some people hate it, but some people love it. We found the Pepperoni Pizza too heavy on salt. It would be better if they go easy on the salt. Oh where to begin.. we were searching for a place to have lunch at and this place showed up on our Yelp results. Black truffle pizza was what drew up over to this establishment, and even though it was not as good as we had hoped for, the rest of the food were a hit! Big hit! We got the chef's table boothlet expecting it to be fun, but I gotta say it was not great ambiance or fun. Service felt impersonal, and you're basically sitting in front of a kitchen. The seat on the booth was ripped and not in great condition. We ordered the broccolini, cauliflower, wild mushrooms, and bison. All tasted fine but not amazing. Nothing stood out. Nightingale is probably one of my top 5 restaurants in downtown Vancouver. First, I love family style sharing plates and second I don't think I've eaten something here that I didn't like. The atmosphere is perfect for a date night, client lunch meeting or even a happy hour spot. I've even taken my daughter here and brought some toys to keep her occupied. The brussel sprouts aren't heavy and have a nice char. The beet salad is my favorite beet salad in Vancouver. Flavorful, creamy sauce and not too tart. The fried chicken is amazing with pickles and a slight hint of honey and not overly spicy seasoning. Every pizza I've tried at Nightingale is amazing. Perfect Neapolitan pizza. I love their Margarita, but honestly they are all delicious. Salmon entree was likely sou vide which locked in all the juices and was so soft. I can't count how many times I've walked Nightingale in ignorance about their Happy Hour. What box doesn't it tick? Does it feel fancy? Yes. Is the fried chicken everything you can hope for? Yes. Are the drinks good? Yes! Is the aesthetic pleasing? In every way. To much on, we ordered the pepperoni pizza and buttermilk fried chicken. To sip on, we ordered the Bramble, Paperplane and Espresso Martini. There was nothing here that I didn't enjoy. The fried chicken was crunchy and well coated, juicy on the inside and glazed in syrup, sumac and pickles. The pepperoni pizza was covered in pepperoni and not overly cheesy with a nice solid base. The Bramble had my name all over it, blackberries, lemonade and gin! It's the perfect summer cocktail. The Paperplane is a potent sipper and the Espresso Martini has just the right amount of caffeine plus vodka to lift your spirits. And I know this is a little on the late side, but a fun fact is that a few scenes from Always Be My Maybe (2019) were filmed here. read more

Came here with my husband and mother in law for dinner and tried a variety of things: cocktails, wine, kampachi, broccolini, brussel sprouts, prawns, mussels and spicy za! Nightingale has been a restaurant on my to-do list and I was finally able to check out this chic-modern Hawksworth inspired restaurant a try. Went here for a lunch date on a Sunday, space was widely available and had no issues walking in for a table. For dinner however, I would recommend getting reservations as they tend to fill up quickly. Right off the bat. the service was extremely good, the staff were personable, friendly and attentive. They really did the little things well which in general amps up the overall experience. We requested for a table change which they did without hesitation, all of our food requests were taken into account and nothing ever felt rushed, props to all the staff! Secondly, the decor in this restaurant is absolutely amazing, probably stared around the place for the first 5 minutes. Gives you a very modern and chic environment, impressive. Onto the food, we got the Fried Chicken and Sweet Potatoes to start with and they were spectacular! I would genuinely come back to here just to get these two signature starters again, these have to be on everyone's order! For the mains we got the Mushroom Risotto and Chorizo and Pepperoni Pizza. The risotto was well cooked and the flavours were nice, however I do feel there are much better pasta options available in Vancouver. Same goes for the pizza, while the pizza dough and flavours of the meat were good, I do feel like there are restaurants that ace this better than Nightingale. I got a Cucumber and Mint mocktail which was an excellent refresher, would recommend! Great food. Being a vegetarian, I get excited when I see a menu with a lot of options. We ordered Honey roasted squash, Roasted portobello pizza, Ravioli, Rigatoni pasta and Salted caramel pot de crème. The Rigatoni pasta was the best among all the dishes we had. The pizza was surprisingly good given it was a vegan pizza (no cheese). This was the first time ever that I had a cheese less pizza that tasted great. The service was great. We came for dinner + happy hour. The best dish for taste and price was the child's spaghetti with butter. It was cooked al dente with lots of creamy rich butter and very reasonably priced. We also ordered the large portion of the spaghetti and claims which we enjoyed but needed salt and pepper and a little more seasoning. We enjoyed the maple fried chicken which is suppose to be the most popular dish on the menu. It came with pickles, which complimented the fried chicken. Beet salad was fine, but nothing special and I would not order it again, especially for the price. The olives were fine too. We dined upstairs where the kitchen was located. My boyfriend found this restaurant to celebrate his marathon race, just right after his race. The restaurant just couple blocks away from the finishing line. We walked down to the restaurant really quick and we were really hungry. As first time trying, we asked the waitress for some suggestions. Their food portions are really depending. We shared food, because we couldn't eat too much. We had the grilled asparagus and grilled flat iron steak with pickled ramp chimichurri. The green sauce was so nice to match the steak. My man took us to this restaurant the other day for one year anniversary. All the staff was nice and I got the salmon which was like $50 and my man bought pizza which was like $30. It's pretty pricey, but the quality of food is really good And I feel like for $50. I should've got more than what I did because I ate it but didn't like 20 seconds. It wasn't that big of a portion oh we ate pudding that was salted caramel flavor and it was really good. I give this place a four star, not five though because there's always room to improve. Although an upscale ambiance which we loved, they also were kid friendly and had a kids menu and fast service. We loved every dish we got - we started with a salad and crostini with mushrooms and burrata, my husband got the salmon and I got the halibut - but we swapped bc we liked each others meal better my 7 yo loved my salmon (he just had plain butter pasta) and my 5 yo said "5 stars - next time I want the adult pizza!". We tried a puebla-something cocktail which sounded good on paper but was watery and boring in reality. For food, we started with the cauliflower which I found forgettable, wishing that it had been more roasted. Thankfully, the rest of the dishes were so good that it made up for a rocky start. The chorizo pizza was some of the best I've had in Canada - the crust and sauce were perfectly balanced from a flavour and texture perspective. The clam spaghetti was wonderful as well. Let me start by saying to all the Tik TOK and insta influencers raving about the "Must have" fried chicken.. cmon man!.. the infamous fried chx dish that people rave about is exactly what you think it's is, chicken strips with maple syrup and a pickle on top. Honestly truly one of the most overrated dishes ever. The kale salad was very good, I also got the pepperoni pizza which was good, my only (personal) issue was when I got my uneaten half to go the bartender used her bar hands to put the pizza in the to go box, I wish they would have just given me the box.. that's a personal thing cause I'm crazy about germs.. all an all the ambiance of this restaurant is beautiful, the chx OVERRATED! Outstanding food and service! Definitely a must go when in Vancouver. We went there for dinner and we were still able to get their "happy hour" menu (which interestingly is until 5pm in Canada). We got the Pepperoni and Red Onion pizza, the beet salad, the buttermilk fried chicken, and the baked sweet potato; everything was very tasty and fresh. I also got me a Main st beer (local brew) and it was great, probably the best beer I had the whole trip. Kaitlyn, the hostess, was very accommodating with us and she still honored our reservation even though we were 45 minutes late (we flew in from California and it took a long time to get our rental car and brave the crazy Vancouver traffic). Also our server, Oscar was awesome, very friendly and quick. He provided great advice for drinks and food and he even brought my wife a tasty dessert for her birthday. I would describe this as an elevated casual food experience - food types might be if what you'd expect at a pub, but everything has a bit of nice touch and...they just taste better. That's consistent with the price tag to me - the price was a bit more expensive than an average pub would charge (from my impression), but still very reasonable. My favorite was the fried chicken - shell was crispy, meat is tender and juicy, the syrup added just the right hint of sweetness. Other dishes were decent too. Pizza has a nice thin crust but I wish the crust could have a bit more flavor from fermentation. I have a copy of Hawksworth cookbook at home and now I'm feeling tempted to read his description about the fried chicken again. There're many other items that I read of and wanted to try, but unfortunately I only have a quite limited stomach. Service was prompt and friendly. Empty plates were removed almost right away.
