I love this neighborhood cocktail bar. The bartenders are so friendly, and the drinks are so well prepared. They have a great pared down drink menu, consisting of their own house cocktails (named after surrounding neighborhoods) and more classic offerings. You can bring outside food and also your dog. I like this place. Small and cozy with what looks like something of a regular clientele. The bar staff is excellent. They made the drinks quickly and introduced themselves so I could ask for them by name if I wanted anything else. They have live music at certain times also. The only reason I gave it four instead of five stars is even after the live music is over it is still a bit loud and not conducive to carrying on a conversation if you are with someone. But overall a really nice place and I will be back! read more

Nice little neighborhood bar. Thrilled to have a Wooten watering hole. Rob and his crew are really laid back and friendly. They have a nice selection of beer, wine, and liquor. They offer some nicely done craft cocktails, too. A shuffleboard table, a few t.v.s, and some high tables with chairs round out the furnishings. Ample seating and bar seating, too. They have seasonal cocktails-I'm hoping they have the peppermint mocha again this year-delicious! They've also had some special events where they partner with food providers. After a few failed attempts (too tired after work) I finally made it to Night Owl. I enjoyed the cozy, neighborhood feel. I went on a Sunday night around 9 and there were about 10 people there. The drinks and service were good and the location is good for northern Austinites. I look forward to going back to try more of their drinks. read more

Super weird experience here and won't be coming back-- I live in the area and had a friend in town so after dinner we wanted to grab 1 more drink. I was excited to find this place! I go to the bar to order us a drink & the bartender (short brunette, maybe had purple in hair) wouldn't serve me, just helped others one after the other & ignored me. I'm super sweet to anyone in restaurant/bar industry because I appreciate them but I tried being patient & was so confused why I was being ignored. So this sweet gal at the bar sees me getting frustrated and tried helping me get the bartenders attention. The bartender got all pissy with her for asking & finally acknowledged me in a very unfriendly tone compared to all of her other customers (who she was a big social butterfly with). I'm not sure what I did wrong to deserve that treatment but I wanted to tell her that I'm very sorry I inconvenienced her (yes, snarky tone). read more

The music playlist took us back to our angsty teenage years (in a fun way) and the crowd was older (see: not college) but boisterous. I would give this place five stars other than the fact that they had no live music. A DJ at 11pm does not count. They have so much potential to really pack the place if they would have some music earlier in the evening. I ordered a margarita and it just did not work for me and the bartender did not hesitate to replace it with a glass of really good champagne. I want to give this place a 4, but I'm not going to based on the sincere friendliness of the staff and the selection of local beers alone. Inside is on the bright side for a bar, which is nice if you're there to talk. Seating isn't great for groups larger than 4 though. Definitely a hang-out place with minimal bar games and few tv's. However, the cocktails are great and often based on local neighborhoods, and again, there's a nice selection of local beers, all reasonably priced. The servers immediately come talk to you and greet you with a smile and friendly banter; plus, they offer great recommendations. I will say the parking situation isn't the best. The spots are on the narrow side, and it can be difficult to get into the parking lot off of Burnet. Regardless, I recommend. If they read this-have an event paired with a food truck! That would be the perfect Austin combo! read more

I really like Night Owl, except for open mic nights. The drinks and bartenders are good, and it's a cozy pace with a cool vibe. I've ended up there accidentally a few times on open mic nights.
