When touring in the Ottawa area, we came over to the Chinatown area and decided to try this…read morerestaurant as they were able to accommodate our party of 8 and had a variety of menu items that could accommodate the group. The staff were so friendly, making small talk with us throughout the meal and helping us fill up our water bottles with hot water. Popcorn Chicken - It was crisp without too much batter and the chicken was still juicy. The spicy mayo on the side was creamy but didn't have much flavor. Sliced Beef Teppan Pepper Rice - I haven't had this type of dish in a while but it was hot and fresh. The meat was soft, the rice had a nice crust and all mixed together with the sweet and savory sauce tied the dish together. Pork & Chive Dumpling Steamed - This reminded me a lot of homemade dumplings with the classic combination of pork and chive. It came out hot and savory which matched with the sweet and sour sauce. House Special Marinate Pork Rib Noodles - I expected this to be very rich but it was light and comforting especially in the cold weather. The meat fell off the bone and was super soft. The soup was slightly meaty and had a nice vegetable flavor. You can choose the type of noodle and our rice noodles were great. We enjoyed getting to try a mix of different dishes and being able to enjoy our meal with the bigger group. A good place to stop by if you're wanting to eat some different Asian dishes in the area.

On a good day there are fair number of tables on the sidewalk as well. We had many different items and some of them we shared although some of them have visited on Wednesday their all vegan day, they pleasantly surprised of the the items they had our first we were blown away. We had Vegan Brekkie Bun - a Just (vegan)Egg topped with vegan cheeze, tomato and chili crisp. Absolute gem. The chilli crisp made all the difference. If all breakfast sandwiches were like this. Take this McD and TH - you can never do this. 5 Spice Tofu Bun - a massive burger of deep fried crisp spiced Tofu topped with relish, lettuce, on a home made bun. To eat you must cut in half or it is huge. But the burger was again absolute gem. Would have loved fries with it to make it a typical burger meal. However my side was... Congee - a simple dish of far east. Family and me were ready for a bland bowl of Congee. The first spoon I had and if the above two dishes were 10/10, this was off the charts. The gentle Ginger taste with some mushrooms and deep fried golden garlic. Creamy rice in every spoon and this was heavenly. The Ratio Coffee was disappointing and Lemon Tea was good. I wish this was not 500kms away for us. I wish we could visit on every Wednesday

Hot Star Large Fried Chicken found it's way to Ottawa and that's terrible news for my waist line…read more Came by for lunch and ordered a large piece of fried chicken with a drink, it was some grapefruit soda. There are some options with your chicken, you can get additional powder on it like salt and pepper, spicy, seaweed, etc The place is not open for dine-in and takeout is pretty well setup. Entrance has sanitizer, stickers on the ground to socially distance, shield at the cashier and sanitizer there too. When my order was ready I was off and on my way home to get some lunch. Massive piece of chicken and it didn't get soggy on my walk home but I live pretty close. Chicken was good and I didn't finish it as it was massive. I really liked the grapefruit soda. It tasted like it had basil in it as well and there were a few other flavours that sounded good. I'll come back as they have a pretty large menu like fried chicken, Taiwanese popcorn chicken, chicken wings, Taiwanese corn, fries and many other items.

(I spat it out into a napkin) Spoonful of potato salad was gross and mushy paste. The 3 spring rolls tasted disgusting and had a weird chemical sour taste. The popcorn chicken combo picture shows the portion much larger and 5 spring rolls. What i got was a prisoner meal tray with disgusting food on it and 3 spring rolls. (picture attached) Staff didnt care and laughed it off when i told her that the oil needed to be changed and the food was disgusting. My wife ordered the chicken cutlet which was ok. Her mushrooms were overcooked in old oil My wife is not happy with our lunch date and I have to make it up to her now. Thanks HOT STAR.

First impression: amazing! Definitely a place I will be returning to…read more They have a really nice menu with lots of different options: cheese foam, lattes, milk teas, fruit teas, and some of their specialty tea combos. I got the 38 Milk King, which comes with pearls, grass jelly and some other kind of jelly. I don't actually know what it is but it's pretty amazing. The prices are pretty standard. I like how they have a bunch of specialty drinks that includes the toppings in their prices. You're able to customize the honey level and the ice levels like most places. They have a points system where you get a free drink after 10. It's pretty convenient to input your phone number yourself to collect the points. The interior is pretty spacious and modern. The staff is super friendly and it feels like a family owned franchise. It would be a great place to hang out after COVID ends. Edit: After getting the 38 Milk King again, I am pretty sure the jelly in my milk tea is agar jelly.

My daughter convinced me to get less sugar so I went with 50% and it wasn't sweet enough, haha. I should have gone with full sugar or 70%. Actually, they use honey instead of sugar. The pearls were still hot and so soft and chewy. I loved the pearls. The drink had real taro puree. It was so good. My daughter got a yakult green tea with Aloe Vera. She went with 30% sugar and said it was too sweet, haha. She liked it though. The drinks are pretty expensive. Mine was $7 and hers was $6.80. Oh, I wanted to add red beans to my drink, but it's not available as a topping :( The guy working there was nice and he made our drinks quickly.
