The Short Version: Hand-pulled noodles restaurant. Very tasty. Very limited number of parking spots in front of restaurant and no street parking nearby.
The Long Version:
I've been interested in trying Meet Noodle since they opened their first location on Metcalfe St downtown, as I love hand-pulled noodles, but that location was not convenient for me.
I was thrilled when I heard they opened a second location (this one that I'm reviewing on Merivale Rd) in late 2023/early 2024, as this location is much more convenient for me. However, when I checked Google Maps to do some reconnaissance shortly after they opened, I realized they had a very limited number of parking spots. All the spots are in front of the restaurant and the spots are shared with another restaurant (The Seafood Grill) next door. And there's no nearby street parking, so the parking situation deterred me from visiting for a long time. Also, my husband doesn't like noodle soups and they don't have much else on the menu that he likes. So it took me over 2 years to finally get around to trying it.
So on a Sunday afternoon that my husband had another engagement and I was left to my own devices, I decided to go to Meet Noodle around 2pm. This was perfect because there were a couple of free parking spots out front.
I was greeted immediately and brought to a table.
I got the Vegetable Noodle Soup ($13.99). Note that the broth is beef broth, so it's not a vegetarian dish. I chose the widest noodles available because I love the chewiness of wide noodles. The noodles were delicious. Nice texture with just the right amount of chew. The broth was a bit too salty and a bit too oily for my liking, but still good. I liked the ample vegetables in the soup: mostly baby Bok Choy and broccoli with a couple slices of radish and a small amount of julienned carrots. I asked them to hold the cilantro.
I thoroughly enjoyed my noodle soup and the portion was great because I had some leftovers to take home.
I do feel the soup could have benefited from some mushroom slices or tofu. And I feel if they used a vegetarian broth the soup would appeal to vegetarians.
Service was excellent. I got my soup in no time and servers were pleasant and friendly. My server even showed me the hidden drawer in the table where cutlery is stored. She also promptly brought me a takeout container when I asked for one for my leftovers.
The space is small and decor is casual and minimalist.
I was seated right in front of the chef pulling the noodles, so I enjoyed the dining entertainment, lol.
