Saturday night, takeout night! The fam and I went with Nom Nom tonight and chose a couple of different dishes out. The hubby recently got takeout from Nom Nom a couple of weeks ago, and forgot how good it was, while it has been a couple of years since I've had takeout from here. We ordered the sesame balls, veggie spring rolls, sweet potato croquettes, tofu spicy fried noodles, and Singapore noodles. The sesame balls and the veggie spring rolls were reminiscent of the stuff you'd get at an AYCE restaurant, but they were still good. The sweet potato croquettes was a first for me, and they were very much like a large hash brown, but super fluffy inside. My suggestion is to wait for them to cool down a bit and eat them warm or room temperature. My toddler loved these, but I thought they were just OK. The Korean spicy fried noodles was the star of the show, although a bit too greasy for my liking, they did hit the spot. I really enjoyed their take on cooking tofu. I think they took deep fried puffed tofu, flattened it down and fried it with the noodles, where it resembled sliced pork. There was a lot of nice color to it, as well as a slight char, and the texture was amazing. Keep it mind, it was a tad greasy as well. I didn't care for the Singapore noodles. My hubby loves this dish, but said he's had it made better else where, so its all personal preference. I do like that you can customize a lot of the meals into vegetarian meals, so major kudos to that. I don't crave Asian cuisine all that often, so I don't think I will be rushing back, but it was nice to switch things up and try out something new. read more

Came here for dinner with my parents since my dad loves Asian food and this place has good reviews on Yelp. The food was overall ok. To me it was similar in quality and quantity to Thai Express. Except they serve Korean, Chinese and Thai food, so maybe like a "Pan-Asian Express" lol. We ordered 3 dishes to share. The General Tao Chicken Special, which came with fried rice and 2 spring rolls ($9.99), Chicken Pad Thai ($7.99), and Beef Bulgogi ($13.99). Oh, we also got 2 open-ended egg rolls ($1.99 each). Everything was cooked to order. The General Tao Chicken was nice and crispy, and not too gristly. The sauce was on the sweet side, but not overly cloying. It tasted to me more like a Honey Chicken. The fried rice was a tad too mushy for my liking, but was otherwise ok. The spring rolls were mostly wrapper, with some vegetables. The Chicken Pad Thai was good. It had a touch of spice, but had too much bean sprouts, in my opinion. I didn't really taste any tamarind and while it tasted good, it didn't taste like authentic Pad Thai. The Beef Bulgogi was my biggest regret. It did not taste like Beef Bulgogi at all. I would describe the dish as more like a Beef Satay. Unfortunately, the beef was chewy and the sauce was so wet. And it was extremely salty. You can look at my picture - doesn't look like any Beef Bulgogi I've ever eaten before! The open-ended spring rolls were quite good though. Lots of filling, which was pork, onions and cabbage. They had good seasonings, and were nice and crispy. Staff were very friendly and they all thanked us when we left. Apparently the place has been around for a few years, but it still looks fairly new and is very clean. Decor is very modern. There are 2 tables for 4, a big picnic-like table that would probably seat 6 (maybe 8?), and some bar seating facing out the window (maybe 5 seats). Most people come for takeout. There was also a delivery guy that popped in and out while we were there. It's fast food. You order and pay, then pick it up when it's ready and bring it to wherever you want to sit. Food is served on paper plates, and utensils are the disposable kind. I found the General Tao Chicken much better than at places like Manchu Wok or Shanghai 360, while the Pad Thai was similar to that at Thai Express. I like that it's an independently owned restaurant. I think Nom Nom Kitchen is a good alternative to chains to get fast food-type Asian food. After my experience with the Beef Bulgogi, I would probably just stick to the Chinese and Thai options. Although I'm still really tempted to try the Bibimbap someday. The restaurant is in a little complex with a McDonald's and a few other places, I think a real estate office and something else. The spot next to it is currently vacant. Lots of free parking. read more

I came here with my husband for date night yesterday, after reading positive reviews on Yelp. This quick service/take out place has some tables inside where you can eat. It's really minimalist and clean. The menu is written on a large chalk board, and is simple. I had the shrimp ramen ($11.99) and my husband had the special of the day - General Tsao chicken with rice, and two spring rolls ($9.99). I also got a can of pop and the whole thing, with tax, came out to $26. I'm not really an expert on ramen, but I enjoyed my food. It was spicy, which I like a lot. The noodles were super starchy (is this a normal ramen thing? Again, not an expert here). The shrimp did not make me sick, which I know is a really low bar to set, but anytime I order shellfish from anywhere I feel like I'm playing diarrhoea Russian roulette, you know? Well, it's good to live on the edge anyway. My husband comments that his chicken was just fine. He really enjoyed the rice. The spring rolls were fresh, he says, and the plum sauce was unique. The unlabelled yellow bottle on the table is plum sauce. We're still not sure what the red sauce in the unlabelled former Orangina bottles is -- there was a weird residue in the bottles, so I didn't venture to try and find out. The food wan't super fast, so make sure you're not in a rush when you come here. I think we'd be back, it is a good alternative to the greasier fast food i the area. read more

Very disappointed in both the food and the "customer service". I've ordered from this place probably a hundred times before and the food was generally good. Tonight was a special birthday dinner and I ordered tofu Pad Thai, a dish I've ordered before. Tonight I got something, but it wasn't pad thai. The dish had a sweet sauce, no garlic no peppers, no peanuts, no cilantro, no lime, no tamarind, no peanut butter in the sauce, no fish sauce. I called to let them know I was disappointed. The woman I was speaking with claimed to be the manager, she told me to come back up to the restaurant so she could "look at it". I told her I wasn't leaving a birthday dinner for her to look at it, that I was just calling to let them know I was disappointed and that this wasn't the quality I was used to. She told me her pad thai doesn't have spice or peanuts and that you have to ask for them (never had to do this in the past) she then proceeded to tell me I could add what I wanted at home (I don't order from restaurants to remake the dish at home ). At this point a man took the phone and began yelling at me. Actually yelling at me. He was yelling that I didn't know what I was taking about (I learned how to make authentic pad thai from an actual Thai neighbour) and continued yelling incoherently at me, to the point where I had to hang up. I wasn't asking for a refund, I just wanted to let them know that the quality was subpar. After the poor quality of the food along with the horrible "customer service" I will never be ordering from this place again and I will actively recommend that no one else order from there unless they want VERY North Americanized "Asian" food. Very tasty bibimbap. Everything was nicely proportioned, cooked and seasoned. Huge portion, couldn't finish in one sitting.

We have been going for coffee at the Mac Donald's next door for years and when this place opened the first thing g I thought was that in such an odd location that it would never survive. Well... it's still here so today we decided to give it a try. It's small and cosy and extremely busy... no wonder. The food was awesome. We both had the General Tao with rice and 2 egg rolls and it was mouth watering g. The egg rolls are the best we have ever eaten in our 67 years. They add some spice to it that makes it outstanding and it is packed which is so much better than most other Asian restaurants. If you are looking for Asian food... find this place and give it a try I am certain you will not be disappointed!!! read more

Tried nom nom again today...didnt order the same dishes and was disappointed. General thao and korean beef noodles was really good last week but tonight the kung pao and schezuan beef were not good at all...all vegis..no meat...and no flavour. I really wanted this place to be good but was 50 bucks and like food court chinese. I won't be going back...my search for decent Asian continues. Just tried this place as i do not enjoy any of the chinese or Thai places in Orleans. This place was great..kids loved it...food had lots of flavour..portions were perfect. We ordered general thao and korean noodles. Next time i want to try their schezuan chicken, Pad Thai and korean beef bibibap. Recommend this placr hands down over all the others..and if you know your asian food you will enjoy the selection. My kids said it was better then burgers and nandos so that says it all! read more

Was in the area for training walking down the street and noticed this place. Nom nom has a variety of asian foods. I ordered the bibimbap and it was yummy. There was a huge order ahead of us so it was abit slower to get our food but it was worth the wait. If your in the area and looking for a good fresh foods other than the mcdonalds nearby, you should check this place out. I would definetly come back if ever back in this area. read more

I'm not sure about Nom Nom Kitchen. We drove here for Friday lunch and found the place easy to find, with ample parking. It wasn't that busy yet, so we were able to order and get prime seats by the window. I ordered Korean ramen and my partner ordered beef bulgogi. Everything is made fresh, so there is a bit of a wait before you get your food. I wasn't very thrilled my food, to be honest. My ramen had noodles that were indistinguishable from instant noodles that we had at home. It was spicy (understandable), and the chicken was dry. Basically, I don't think it was anything that I couldn't have made at home (probably better since I would have left out the carrots and bean sprouts). The bulgogi was slightly better, but a little mushier than we wanted (especially with the carrots). Everything was served in takeout containers (plastic) even though we ate in. With beverages, tax and tip, everything came to about 40$, which I really thought was severely overpriced for a place that I would categorize as just marginally better than Thai Express. Sorry Nom Nom, but you'll have to do better than that! read more

Seriously, I love this place. I have been meaning to write this review all year... but life gets in the way. That said, NomNom has unique and lovely flavors and has saved me numerous times from having to cook. My family loves this place, too. (We usually do take out, by the way.) We have our favorite meals (BibimBop with ground beef, Japanese Curry with chicken, Spicy rice (there is a different name, but I don't have it in front of me). We also always try to select something different each time (tonight: Mongolian Beef - yum!) If you like spicy, these have plenty of snap! (Though I would say you would need to ask for the red curry/thai inspired dishes to have more spice, but otherwise, those I mentioned above are awesome!!) I am from Boston where we have a lot of variety... Now living here in East Ottawa, I find it quite lacking in interesting food... NomNom is indeed a little gem. read more

I found the food very tasty , fresh and cheap. The décor is simple but spotless. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star is that the forks are those little disposable plastic ones ( maybe I should learn to eat with chopsticks ). I will be back with my metal fork. read more

This is a small Mom and Pop restaurant. We were the one people in the place which made us a hit weary. It's a small place tucked away from view, but the decor was very modern. Everything was very clean and well kept. I had the Korean spicy noodles. Amazing! Fresh, spicy and seasoned perfectly. We also got some spring rolls. They weren't greasy at all and had a good crunch to them. The homemade lemon iced tea was great. Not too sweet and just the right tartness. You can tell everything is homemade. I'll definitely be heading back. You should give it a try. read more

I've been ordering from Nom Nom on STD - Very fresh tasting, arrives pipping hot, and has the perfect amount of spice. Always have left overs and prices are reasonable - the side of rice is huge! The meal combos are my personal favourite, especially the Korean spicy chicken. Definitely recommend. read more
