The best asian taco EVER.. the flavours of the sauce and kimchi were so so good!! The service was amazing they were so kind and friendly and their patio looking out onto the park was beautiful. 10/10 could not recommend more:) read more

Having marked this spot for some time, finally visited. There is some construction in progress. Limited seating was available, luckily the (only) table was just about done. We ordered on the screen with the help of the owner/manager. The Vegan Spinach Mushroom Tofu dumpling were amazing. The outer layer so thin and perfectly steamed and filled. With Hot Chili Oil - absolutely the best. The Vegan Pad Kra Pao with Tofu bought back memories of Chiang Mai Thailand. The flavours to the mark. The spice level incredibly balanced. The serving size was equally disappointing - too less. Definitely not enough as a meal. Never tried Thai style Tacos and was blown away by this fusion. Both the vegan Five Spiced Tofu with Hot Chili Oil and Vegan Portobello Mushroom with Ginger Peanut sauce was what we needed. The freshness of the ingredients, the crunch of fried onions and garlic, onions and tofu. Again just two tacos for $12 is a bit on the higher side IMHO. read more

Really really bad Ordered three spicy dishes - green papaya salad, pork and rice, pad thai All three were bland, unflavourful, goopy and nearly inedible Not spicy, not tasty, not at all good All three were in the bottom 20% Papaya salad was tough, wasn't tart, I couldn't even taste if there was fish sauce or not. Its hard to get good papaya, but this was not good I was disappointed, regretted choosing Sula Wok and I would recommend against it. I won't have food from here again. read more

I got the hui guo rou and unfortunately can't say that I loved it! I ordered it spicy and it... very much was not that it was very mild. there was a decent amount of pork in the dish but a lot of pieces were overcooked and the pork belly wasn't as "succulent" as described but instead more crispy. the predominant flavor of the dish though (and my main issue with it) is just of salt. it's a very salty dish. like headache inducing salty service was great though and very quick and the outdoor seating was very much appreciated read more

Amazing food, wonderful people. My favourite dishes of Sula's are the spicy peanut noodle soup, five-spice tofu tacos and Yangshuo style eggplant rice bowl, although I haven't found a single item on their large menu I dislike. Sula and Andrew are so friendly, and put incredible effort into all aspects of their food: sourcing authentic and quality ingredients, preparing fresh, combining all the right flavours, and presenting a picture-worthy dish. Our neighbourhood is lucky to have them. In the warmer months, they carry gelato and provide a small amount of outdoor seating along the sidewalk - perfect for checking in on the constant changes on Main St. read more

The service and the food was excellent! Mix of food offerings from several Asian countries. Spicy and fresh. Khao Soi has great spice and flavour. Coconut curry was also a great choice for my wife. And be sure to try the strawberry lemonade. Less sweet than I thought it would be, be refreshingly tart. The staff are incredibly responsive and helpful. So glad that we tried out this spot. Will definitely eat here on our next visit to Ottawa. read more

Love a family owned business that takes pride in the food! It certainly shows here. Warm friendly service, excellent food. Will definitely go back to try a few other menu items! read more

Had an excellent first try of this family-owned Old Ottawa East gem! We live right near this restaurant and were intrigued by the cute outdoor tables and inventive menu. We decided to try the tibetan beef dumplings which were served with some pickled onions. We asked for a spicy sauce since we love spice and were given a homemade spicy dipping sauce which was delicious. Service was super friendly! We can't wait to try more from their menu read more

I had an early lunch here and I really liked it. I got the Sula's Saucy Chicken Pad Thai ($11.95). I was asked if I wanted mild or spicy and since it was my first time there, I opted for mild, just in case. It ended up being really mild, so next time I'll probably ask for medium. I liked that the Pad Thai contained a good variety of vegetables. It had carrots, bell peppers, broccoli, onions, some sort of greens (maybe Swiss chard?), bean sprouts, and tomatoes. I forgot to say no bean sprouts, but I was pleasantly surprised that there weren't that many of them. Unlike most restaurants where their Pad Thai is mostly noodles and bean sprouts. The Pad Thai also had eggs and chicken, although not as much chicken as I would have liked. The dish was indeed saucy, and much wetter than my preference, but I still enjoyed it a lot. The sauce was sweet and a bit tangy. I liked the different textures of the dish from the different vegetables and also the crushed peanuts. Service was very friendly and efficient. They have a water dispenser that dispenses both cold and warm (maybe hot?) water. Their bowls and plates are compostable, as are their chopsticks. Their cups had "eco friendly" on them, so I'm assuming they are also compostable/biodegradable or at the least recyclable. There are a number of seats in the restaurant, but mostly big tables, so during peak times I'm guessing it's kind of communal seating. They have a Pacman arcade machine there, which gets cool points from me. They also sell t-shirts with cute cartoon dumplings on them. They also sell jewelery. Some of which are displayed by the cash register and some of which are displayed inside the glass display embedded in the dining tables. I thought that was really neat. They have lots of vegetarian and vegan options, and a good variety of dishes (noodles, rice, salad, dumplings, tacos, and rolls). The restaurant is on Main Street by St. Paul's University. There's a paid parking lot nearby or you can park on the street. They don't have a private parking lot. I'm looking forward to returning and trying their other items. read more

I cannot recommend Sula wok enough and I don't know if it's the juicy portobello mushrooms hiding under the mountain of pickled veggies and kimchi OR the sriracha mayo OR the combination of everything tucked in a flour tortilla, but each mouthwatering bite of these tacos are a medley of flavours and textures. The portobello mushrooms has that juicy and meaty texture while the creamy spicy mayo adds a tangy, sweet and spicy flare and accents the meaty mushrooms. I also love the other options especially the Tibetan Curry Beef (not pictured) but man something about this flavour pairing captured a permanent place in my Taco Tuesday rotation!! read more

Fresh, made-to-order Asian food. Stopped overnight on a trip back to the USA. Friendly owners, tasty takeout made to order. Ordering online was very easy. We got a text stating when our order would be ready, and it was dead correct. Allow time for this, as it is a popular place with plenty of local, repeat business. Worth it! Thank you for making our night better with warm, fresh food. read more

Love this place! When you see the pop-out yellow and red tent, that's where you know you're in the right place. - Eco-friendly - Many vegan/vegetarian options - Nice owners + delicious food!!! Fresh, delicious Asian food. Another great family run restaurant in Ottawa. They have an amazing deal for 5 meals (no rice) for $50 no tax! I freeze them and have one for lunch every other day. There Coconut curry, Thai Lemongrass, Hui Guo Rou (pork belly) rice dishes are just so damn yummy!! Great location, the staff are very polite and extremely nice!! I love how there packaging is returnable (plastic containers, I think it is a $0.50 charge per, but when you return them you get the money back). Another thing I love is in the spring she plants herbs and spices and veggies and uses them in there dishes, how cool is that! read more

although we live in the GTA because we visit family in Ottawa we end up eating out here from time to time. After seeing all of the stellar reviews we order food in and at this point I am seriously wondering if people are getting either free meals or discounts off their bills to write these perfect reviews as my experience was completely horrible. We ordered via Skip and out of a total of five entrees, I would classify three as mediocre and two as completely not edible ....we threw food out! Especially their coconut curry had so much turmeric in it that you could taste the raw powder. Even my mom couldn't figure out a way to cook it and save it as she hates throwing food. I know one could make the argument well you cannot compare Thai food in Toronto to Ottawa however I have frequent it enough restaurants here to know that good Thai food does exist in this city. On that note, Avoid this place go to Talay Thai instead.!! read more

These were some mighty fine tacos! They have curry beef, sweet and sour pork, spicy chicken, and tofu. You could add kimchi for no additional cost and they are $4 each. I had the curry beef tacos and they were delicious. Perfect amount of heat and paired very well with the cucumber mint or peanut sauce. Great size for the cost and definitely comparable to other taco places who charge the same or more for smaller size tacos. This location is outside of Roger Guindon at the University of Ottawa and gets a nice mix of students and employees from CHEO at Ottawa Hospital-great for a lunch break! read more

We had an absolutely delicious meal here in August 2019. We tried the chicken momos, the papaya salad, a few different tacos and the spring rolls. Everything was amazing-everything. The service was friendly and helpful, and it was a lovely evening so we sat out on the patio. Wish we would've had room to try the Oat and Mill 'ice cream', but we were too full! Love that they use compostable dish ware. read more

Were looking for a vegetarian place to take my partner out to, stumbled upon this place. Small place with a very local feel, owner is very friendly and are more than happy to tell you about their offerings. Went there for my dad's birthday couldn't be happier loved there curry rubbing my tummy

I love the fit-up that was done to the location. There is a roll up door (garage style) that allows you fresh air when sitting at the counter seating. There is a lovely patio that gets equal parts sun and shade. The first time I went I had the pork/mushroom and the vegetarian dumplings. This time I had the pork/chive and the chicken/basil dumplings. The food is tasty and nicely prepared/presented. The service is very friendly. read more

I wasn't a fan when I first tried this place, but it's a more of me not being used to the flavours. Once I tried a few dishes though I was hooked. The Asian tacos here actually fill me up and I have a healthy appetite. The are tasty too. Two for 8.45 and it's a meal. There is a lot going on in terms of ingredients and I'm still tweaking the flavours to suit my taste. I recommend the BBQ pork. The fresh and pickled toppings will make every bite a little party in your mouth. The pad thai is also very good although I'd hold the tomatoes next time. Both dishes could have used a bit more meat. Nice decor, cool driveway type patio and friendly family service. Cute kids too! This place tries and it shows. I hope they add more options to the menu. read more

Couldn't decide what to have for dinner tonight, so our sister suggested a new place that just opened up in the area. Though we only went to get take out, next time we'll definitely be eating in. Great outdoor seating and loved the casual ambience. Andrew and Sula were both extremely welcoming. The Tibetan beef Momo was insanely flavourful ( be sure to add the chilli oil, if you like it spicy). The regular chicken taco was unavailable, but Sula offered a substitute that was just as tasty. Sula's Saucy Pad Thai was one of my favourites from tonight. Wish there was a Sula Wok in Toronto. The food alone is a good reason to return to the capital city. Until next time.... read more

My first experience, with their stand at the West End Food Truck Rally 2015. Reasonably priced at $4 per taco with meat and all the trimmings, incredible taste and value! Fast service kept us primed for the long waits at the other food trucks. read more

Went here the other day, got the pad thai. The sauce was super sweet but the ingredients were fresh and tasty enough to the point where I still enjoyed it. Someone I came with got the tacos and was very impressed, and other Yelpers seem to feel the same way so I would recommend you would try those. The best part about this place is how cheap it is and how quick it is. Fairly central and since parking is bad in the area it's great that this place is pretty in and out. The portions are very good for the price, which other local thai places struggle with. Not the best thai place in Ottawa, but very convenient and a good value as well. read more

I found out about this truck on Twitter and was so excited to see that they offer momos. Alas, they don't offer them every day - in fact, I haven't managed to get them yet, but they say they announce on Twitter when they're available. But you should still visit. They always offer Asian tacos, with some flavors changing, but there is always Tibetan beef or tofu, and a pork and a chicken. They say on their website that daily noodles are available, but I haven't seen them. (Perhaps at their other location?) Tacos are $4 each, though occasionally you can get three for $10 (announced on Twitter), and are served on flour or corn tortillas. They also sometimes offer lettuce wraps- again, they'll say so on Twitter. Awesome options I've had so far include sichuan pork, Tibetan beef, and another spicy pork mix, on both lettuce wraps (crispy Romaine boats) and soft corn tortillas (nice and fresh). The Tibetan beef has a bit of spice but not much - they will warn you, but don't worry about it unless you like no heat at all. The sichuan pork was about the same level of spice, as is the spicy chicken, which I swiped a bite of from a friend. Alas, the sichuan pork was not numbing, but hey, Sichuan has a lot of flavours to choose from. They also offer Suzy Q doughnuts, but so far I've avoided the temptation. Barely. Love having this option downtown! Give them a try. read more
