I dropped off a suit jacket that had 1 ripped stitch on the back for a quick mend. Was told it would take 5 days. Returned 8 days later and the jacket wasn't ready. Returned a week after that and was told it wasn't ready and would take another 5 days. Went back a full month later and was told the jacket not only wasn't ready but wasn't event at the location. I have a wedding to attend tonight and won't have the jacket. The last time I ever visit this place will be to (hopefully) pick up the jacket. Save your money - go anywhere else. read more

As I am writing this review I am knocking on wood. We all know how hard it is to find a dry cleaners that you can trust. I have been coming to Nifty Cleaners since I moved into the neighborhood in 2002, and I have yet to be let down. They have a boutique and alterations on site. The boutique is a bit dated, I think she still might have stuff on display from when they first opened up. The alterations, I can only speak for a jean hemming and it's convenient and quality. The place could use a good dusting, but I can overlook that, because they take such good care of our clothes. As you walk into Nifty you are immediately greeted by Yvonne with a smile. Yvonne will probably remember your name after your first visit. Any request you have regarding your shirt or pants will be met. Clothes will be back in a couple of days. If you want following day service I would show up early, so they can get it out in the first truck. In the 7 years I have been bringing my dry cleaning here I have only lost a couple of buttons on one shirt, I shit you not! I'm still convinced though, my wife called Yvonne and asked her to do something to the shirt since she had been requesting me to retire that specific shirt for 6 months. Coincidence...I think not. Anyhow I highly recommend if you live in Cottage Grove, Rice Military, Washington Ave. Nifty Cleaners. You can trust them with your dry cleaning. read more

$3.50 for dirty pants?! You're crazy. So useless. I specifically asked the owner if she could get out a coffee stain. I would have "shouted" it myself but they're new white slacks. I didn't want to get a ring and produce a bigger stain. She said yes but give her "an extra day" to get it out. Of course it didn't even look like they tried to get it out. I would go back and complain, but man if you can't even get out something simple like a coffee stain, you're not worth a return visit. read more

Tried Nifty Cleaners based on Yelp and was pleased with the results. Really friendly service and Yvnone (owner) obviously tries to know each and every customer. Quick turnaround. Prices are a little higher than other nearby places, but those are the places that ruin or lose your clothes. They also do alterations and shoe repairs. I'm willing to pay for better service and a good location, so I'll be back. read more

This is my all time favorite dry cleaner. They are fast, friendly and inexpensive. Usually I bring something in and it will be done by six the following day. Many places will charge you double for this type of service. At nifty it is standard. I am surprised to hear so many people saying that this place is expensive. To the best of my knowledge there was only one dry cleaner that was cheaper than Nifty Cleaners and that one was next to the bbq joint that is now the Black Walnut and the Chase bank. The best tailor I have ever had. Pricing is affordable and she is always accurate. I've never received anything back that didn't fit just right and that's saying a lot as I have everything altered. Yvonne is extremely personable and always has great conversation. I picked this place because the only negative reviews were around price and for me expensive should mean the clothes are taken care of. So those negatives appeared to be a positive from my point of view. Here was my experience dropping off 8 of my wife's dresses (all Ted Baker, Cache, and Karen Millen). 2 of the dresses they wouldn't clean though they'd been dry cleaned in Dallas prior to us moving to Houston. I was actually happy they refused to clean them because in my mind that meant the other 6 dresses must be safe from damage. But to my horror, of the 6 dresses we picked up, 2 of them were damaged. One of them had a small amount of damage to the collar where the collar look kind of frayed and disgured, as if it had been washed 100 times. I would rate damage to this dress as a minor annoyance and probably wouldn't cause me to write a review on yelp. But the other dress was a Karen Millen dress which we never had dry cleaned and wound up with around 8-12 pea sized stains on the dress which looked like bleach discolorations. We went out of town the next morning and I left a voicemail on Nifty Cleaner's phone asking what they could do to help but they never called back. I am thinking about taking them to small claims court for the $300 in damages they caused to that dress. The second dress is probably harder to prove since the collar was the only damage and unless you know what it was supposed to look like, it's kind of subjective that they damaged it. Don't go here! Do not go to this place, they are clueless about customer service. They are sometimes late and rather than phone the plant they just sit and wait on them. They kept a shirt of mine "to replace a button" which they had never done! When i came back they could not find it!!! They have no effing idea of what they are doing. What really pissed me off is that they never apologized and i am out a good cotton shirt. I think they tore it up and did not want to tell the truth.!!! I really wanted to give them NO STARS, but this site will not accept a no-star rating. BTW-try not to pay with a credit card, she bumps up your bill twenty percent if you dont pay cash. read more

Was very displeased with the customer service and tailoring. Got a dress hemmed but when I picked it up and tried it on, it was shorter then what we initially agreed on. Yvonne told me to my face that she knew I would be a dissatisfied customer and wouldn't give me a discount or anything. Told me she could find the extra fabric to lengthen to dress. Umm.. no. I've used Nifty Cleaners over the past 5 years, but I'm amazed at their tailoring price increase. A few years ago I brought 2 jackets and pants for tailoring and alterations, and walked out with a bill of around $60-$70, a few days ago I brought in a jacket for tailoring and I walked out today with a bill of $95. That is ridiculous. They charge $30 PER jacket alteration and $12 per pant alteration. I will not be going back to Nifty Cleaners as dry cleaning at other places has been cheaper and broken less of my shirts' buttons, and I hope that tailoring around the city isn't this ludicrously priced. Unless you want to spend way too much money, I'd look around for other dry cleaning and service providers. read more

Out of my wife's 8 dresses, wouldn't clean two of them which we're now thankful for given the damage caused to 2 of the her dresses. One of her 300 dollar Karen Millen dresses which had never been cleaned came back with what looks like bleach stains speckled in about 15 places. Another one of her dresses came back with a collar that now looks frayed as if it had been washed 100 times. Damaging 2/6 dresses was an expensive mistake.
