Used this business for the first time to get my white comforter dry cleaned. I unwrapped my comforter when I got home and there were brown rust colored spots on my comforter that weren't there when I dropped it off. My comforter had zero stains before dropping it for cleaning. You think they'd make sure your items were cleaner than when you dropped them off. Pretty decent prices for dry cleaning! Only reason I go here is because it's close by and cheap. I've gotten my comforter, blankets, peacoats, dresses, sweaters, dress shirts dry cleaned here and never experienced anything wrong! Its a fast turnaround - give it a day - 3 days. I needed a dress dry cleaned and they were able to give it back the next day after 6pm. If you forget your ticket, no problem! They dont make a fuss that you forgot your ticket, they simply look back into their logs and search for it. May take a while but thats what you get for not bringing it! :) Make sure to donate your metal hangers back to them! They're not really good for your clothes! One thing that I wish they were better at is knowing their customers by name. I would think that a family-run business like this, they would take time to know your name and greet you a bit better. read more

Been coming to this location for 3 years and what initially was a positive experience has been tarnished by poor customer service. Items have been lost and more recently I brought in 2 jackets to have altered. The entire process seemed like a big ordeal; if your company cannot do it, just let me know and I will take my business somewhere else. I returned to pick up my jacket and the work was not even initiated, although I was being charged. I left the items for another week and the work completed was not as expected. I tried the other places nearby, but I always ended up paying way more for crushed buttons on my shirts, and waited much longer to pick them up. I have yet to experience any mishaps here with my laundry (fingers crossed), and I appreciate the same day/next day service. In conclusion, I rate Valu Cleaners five stars. Woohoo! I'm a happy customer because they did a great job altering (taking in the sides) plus dry cleaning a dress for me within a reasonable turnaround (1 week) and for a very budget friendly cost (approx. $30 incl. tax). I'll be bringing more clothes to be altered here in the future as the job was done so neatly you can't tell it was altered (no seams, no bulk, etc...). The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because, if I understood correctly (everyone of course was masked), the lady at the counter told me that garments to be altered are outsourced to someone instead of being done in shop. Still, the turnaround was fast and the price much more reasonable than taking them elsewhere in the heights. read more

I've only been here once to wash comforters and I am surprised at the low reviews. Where else can you wash comforters for 10.00 each? Nowhere in Houston that I have found! True story: I went to clean smart due to the great reviews to wash three comforters. They told me my bill would be 93.00. I dropped them off went back in the car and started comparing prices. I called value cleaners and they told me they could do them for 10.00. Went back into clean smart, canceled my order and got my items back. I saved over 50.00! I must be thinking about a completely different VaLu Cleaners. This place is horrible. I've lived in the neighborhood for ten years and used them religiously up until recently. Over the past six months they ruined three shirts of mine and those that they didn't ruin weren't pressed for crap. I was never offered same day service, never compensated for busted buttons, and never offered to have them replaced. You get what you pay for. I suggest if you use VaLu, you check your clothes closely before you leave. read more

Not bad for the price but they never proactively replace cracked buttons on men's shirts. If you point it out, they will take care of it, but I'd love to find a cleaners that was diligent enough to replace them on their own but didn't charge an arm and a leg for dry cleaning and laundry. This was our first time here so unless something goes horribly wrong between now and next time we will be back! I've been using them for a year now and they are gradually getting worse. They shove as many clothes in one plastic bag as possible. I asked them to put less in since they were so wrinkled. My clothes still come back wrinkled and not pressed properly. I took about 5 items back and asked them to press them again since they were unwearable. Ive gone here a few times not, mostly to drop off my boyfriends clothes, and figured this was a pretty cheap place to go to to get dry-cleaning done. You can request to have clothes done by the next evening. BUT DO NOT GO HERE. I brought my comforter in to be cleaned. Third time I brought it here, always costs me $15 dollars. The comforter is only a few months old. Whoever I brought the comforter into mustve thought "Oh well just stick this in the washer and she'll never know the difference". The comforter is COMPLETELY RUINED. The cotton is all bunched up in one spot plus the ripped it. I'll be having words with their manager tomorrow, but I honestly don't expect anything from them other than a "oooo nooo. That wa-rsnt us." read more

This place is your typical TERRIBLE cleaners. I took a pair of pants here to get a seam repaired. (just needed to be restitched, a 5 minute job). They told me it would take two days. Came back 2 days later to find out they had forgotten the pants, even though i had called them the night before to make sure they would have them ready because i needed them that next day. So i had to come back the next day. They wanted 3 dollars for the alteration, and when I asked for that to be waived because they didn't have them done on time which inconvenienced me, they asked me to never come back, which I haven't. Another time I showed up at 6:58PM (2 minutes before close) to pick up some shirts, and since they were already locking up for the day, they didn't let me get my stuff. How rude. Lastly, they have burned and ruined one of my shirts. But, they have a huge sign that clearly states that 1) you have to check your clothes before you leave (which no-one does, are you kidding?) 2) that you have to make the damage claim when you pick it up (yeah right) and 3) that you have to have a receipt for a damage claim. This last one is absolutely stupid since they ASK YOU IF YOU WANT A RECEIPT WHEN YOU CHECK OUT. How do they expect you to have a receipt if you don't have to get one. What am i supposed to do, get a receipt, open up all my dry cleaning while everyone is waiting in line (they have no AC and it is hot as hell in the summer), check ALL my drying cleaning with a magnifying glass, and then make a claim, which they will probably argue over anyway? This place. Is your typical, TERRIBLE dry cleaners. p.s. They shrunk several of my dress shirts too. don't go here. They don't even smile when you come in. Two pieces of clothing stolen. Stains on clothes. Incompetent staff. Over priced. Stolen and damaged clothes cost me over $700

I have been going to this dry cleaners about 4-5 years. The prices are awesome and the front desk team is always pleasant. However... Like other reviewers, my clothes come back smelling like chemicals. Sometimes worse than others but I could live with that. It's dry cleaning after all. But about a year ago, maybe less, I starting receiving some dress shirts back with black splatters - looked like grease from a machine. They have always redone them when I bring them back and gotten the stains out (except for one shirt which I ate because I didn't notice it on the back of the shirt until after I wore it). One white dress shirt came back with long, heavy black stains on one sleeve and cuff. It took them 2x but they finally got it out. All in all I have probably had 5 shirts affected. Good shirts from Nordstrom, Kenneth Cole, Last Call, etc. I feel the same as other reviewers about cracked buttons (and some of mine were sort of melted before they cracked). They said its because I have shirts with the thicker buttons and while nice, they don't hold up to the dry cleaning machines as well as the flatter buttons which is what they replace them with. I guess... At least they always replaced them once I pointed it out. The last straw with them is that I started having buttons pulled (I'm assuming by machines) to where they are loose. One dress shirt from Neiman-Marcus had one button on each sleeve pulled almost completely off. I noticed when I was buttoning them they were literally hanging by a thread. I also noticed when I was putting my wallet in the back pocket of a pair of Hugo Boss pants that the button is stretched and very loose. I have had to have probably 6-7 buttons sewn back on due to this. Now I've noticed in the last month or two that the collars are being pressed irregardless of the seam. This has happened about 3x now. One dress shirt collar had about 1/4" of the point part of the collar pressed backward! One final gripe I have is that the workers in the back HAVE to notice the stains, the missing and cracked buttons, the mis-shapened collars but they don't redo or fix the garment right then. They pretend not to notice and slap it on a hanger and give it to you to discover as you're rushing to get dressed for work or worse sitting in a meeting when you wonder why your white sleeve has black marks on it. To conclude, the only reason I'm giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is due to my long history with them and the nice front counter staff. But I have reached my limit with this place! read more

You get what you pay for. It's cheap and their service reflects the price. They did things like pinning shorts to hangers. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but it is because the pins leave holes in the shorts. I won't go back here ever because of my shorts. They stained a pair if light colored shorts. The lady said she would redo them, but I doubt that happened. The looked untreated when I got them back for the second time. Another light colored item was dirtier when I got it back than when I took them in. They even hung my shirt on the hanger wrong. Oh and for get them pressing your shirts. Oxford shirts that we're suppose to be pressed with starch looked like it was just poorly hung. You would get a better value for your money if you gave it to a panhandler! I dropped a coat off to be dry cleaned on a Thursday afternoon. They did put a rush on it so I could get it back on Friday. When I picked it up, it had a strong chemical smell. Saturday, the smell was still quite strong. I took it back that morning and asked for them to redo it. They indicated that the washers were not up--they couldn't do anything. Ok--please refund my money because I have to have this coat cleaned again someplace else where it will be done correctly. No--the manager is not here. That's it. Valu Cleaners needs to rethink their name. I have taken my clothes here for nearly two years. However, about a year ago I started noticing problems with some of my clothing. One shirt, a nice, Ted Baker, silk shirt, had to be re cleaned 3 times. On the second try, it came back to me with HOLES in it. I complained to the owner, who said they would fix them and reclean the stains. I got my shirt back the third time, and the holes had been patched and they were noticeable. Not what I want to wear for a nice evening out. And the other problem is, the stain removal. Everyone takes their clothes to the cleaners so they can remove stains. However, most of the time when I go in there now, and not sure if it was because of my silk shirt issue and them having to reclean it 3 times to remove the stains, they tell me that removing my stains is no guarantee. And then they tell me that a certain stain is wine, when in fact it was just vodka/water and has been removed on multiple occasions on all sorts of different clothes of mine. I had to argue with the boy and tell him NO, it is not wine, and he said yes, it is, and we can't guarantee stain removal. Anyway, long story short, I agree with the other reviewer on here who said they had a sneaky suspicion that they put the clothes right back in bags without dry cleaning them. I have had so many clothes come back where I had to send them back it's unbelievable. They are TERRIBLE at removing stains. I have continued to go there because I live RIGHT near there and it is super convenient. However, I've finally wisened up and will no longer go there. Too many bad experiences, no more chances.
