Good vibes in little Haiti! Our party of three was surprised to find such a cozy, clean, yet modern looking place inside a strip mall. What we ordered: Greek salad : Fresh, simple, good! Spaghetti Vongole: Fresh, pasta cooked to perfection, light but flavorful clam sauce. paccherie con salsiccia provola: this one is special! fresh, wholesome flavors, great comfort food. Cafe Nido was a great experience. The food was good but above all FRESH, simple and real. I think the plates are reasonably priced for the quality of the food. Cute and reasonably priced Italian restaurant in the MiMo district. It's pretty nondescript and located in a strip mall on Biscayne. It's tiny and there are a few tables outside on the patio area, which was lovely for dinner since it's finally getting cooler here in Miami. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about both wine and the menu. He steered us toward a full-bodied Italian cab/nero very light in tannins and reasonably priced ($50 something, which was one of the more expensive bottles on the wine list). The bread was warm and freshly baked. We started with burrata from the mozzarella bar (how could we not). It's pretty hard to mess up cream-filled mozzarella, and we really enjoyed this appetizer. That being said, it wasn't the best I've ever had. The accompaniments were sweet cherry tomatoes, olives, and pickled vegetables, which felt a little bit incongruous with the other flavors on the plate. My friend and I shared the homemade pappardelle with porcini mushrooms in a cream sauce, which was delicious. My brother loved the short rib ravioli, which was a special, but I didn't get to try any because he refused to share :) Miami is really lacking in neighborhood-y Italian restaurants and NiDo Caffe was a breath of fresh air. Yes, I am a fan of the service and food at this Italian restaurant. Our waiter was super nice and so accommodating and welcoming. Our food was pretty nice too. I started off the night with a Bellini cocktail and it was oh-so-deliious! I then moved to my main entree - the Seafood Risotto - it was awesome. Warning, however, it did have a extremely strong seafood odor that will assault your smell. If you can get beyond that though you will love the flavor and texture of this fine dish. I tried the Bolognese Gnocchi too but this was my first time trying this and I did not care for it. I also tried the cannoli for dessert. It has a strong citrus undertone flavor within the filling but I liked it as it was something different. It was a refreshing twist on the tradition cannoli taste. This restaurant has a beautiful outside Tuscan style terrace. The appetizer we ordered was the Burrata and Prosciutto, By far this was the best Burrata I have ever had. Not only was the Burrata great, but the prosciutto and the combination of the roasted peppers, capers and olives paired incredibly with the Burrata. We ordered the special which was Tuna coated with sesame seeds served with Balsamic reduction. They did not skimp on the Tuna, we actually had to take some home. I ordered the Pacceri Pasta and potatoes with sausage which was delicious. For dessert we had the Cannoli, the filling was perfect and was definitely home made, you can taste the lemon zest used. Easy to miss restaurant tucked away in a Biscayne Blvd strip mall. Didn't know it existed until a friend had her birthday brunch here. Friendly servers who are patient and go out of their way for special requests. They joke around with you and willingly take group photos. The food can take a little while, but they do make sure to let you know it will be out soon. I was too busy with good company to really study the menu. I wanted some greens with fresh seafood, which wasn't on the menu, so they grilled some octopus and calamari and tossed it on top of arugula and breakfast radishes, with a side of lemon olive oil dressing. It was worth the wait. The octopus steak was meaty, tender and had a great char on it. Everything I wanted it to be, only better. The calamari were equally soft and delicious. It was such a huge portion of seafood that I had half packed up to go. All the brunch portions looked generous (none of that trendy tapas-style fufu stuff) and homey. I did get to try the French toast, which was more of a dessert. Doused in cinnamon, which I can never get enough of, topped with fresh fruit, and I am talking REAL fresh fruit: big chunks of mango, banana, apples and strawberries. The home-made whipped cream didn't hurt either. Darn it, I wish someone came up with a vegan and zero calorie version of whipped cream already! When my colleague told me he was taking me to a restaurant devoted to the craft of creating fresh mozzarella, I started thinking of the ways I could re-pay him. Cupcakes. Fancy fruity cocktails (he's into them). Large bills. In any case, the man deserves a finder's fee for getting me 'off the Beach' and exploring parts of Miami I'd never experienced on a half-dozen previous visits. Grazie, Mr. Johnny T! The weather conditions were far from ideal my first night in Miami - wet, slightly chilly and decidedly gloomy. But once we walked into this charming caffe, I felt a wave of good energy push away the rainy day blues like a soul-soothing warm blanket. Thankfully, this restaurant takes reservations because it's a small one - no more than 10 tables line the interior and a few more are available for alfresco dining. Though our table was realistically the worst table in the house (being situated next to the door), a fine ass meal, fantastic wine and ace service more than made up for it. More on that. Obviously, we came for the mozzarella - it's Ni.Do's crown jewel, and rightfully so. With burrata, bufala, fiordilatte and stracciatella di bufala to choose from, you know you're getting a glimpse of the pearly gates of heaven (which are clearly made from fresh mozzarella cheese). We started our meal with the buttery burrata and slivers of wafer-thin prosciutto... there may be better things than burrata and prosciutto in life but I'm still struggling to determine what they are! Next up for me: A standout pasta dish called Paccheri con patate, provola e salsiccia (pasta, Italian sausage, potatoes and provola cheese in a spicy garlic sauce). The pasta was housemade and you could taste the painstaking difference - I've never attempted making my own pasta, but I do know it's truly a labor of love and this one hit the culinary bullseye. Magnifico! I'm always fond of the old-world charm meets urbane Italian market combination. I can only hope that I make it back again someday... for now, I'll look forward to dreams made of burrata. read more

What a great experience we had last night at Ni.Do. Aside from fantastic company, we ordered up some peronis and sampled their homemade mozzarellas (smoked, buffala, and burratta), with some cotto and prosciutto...yikes. Creamy, smokey, just right. I indulged in the lasagnetta with bolognese, my wife ordered the quinoa salad, and our friends ordered pappardelle with bolognese sauce, and the paccheri with salsciccia...the sauces were just incredible. I'm tearing up as I write this. SNIFF. It's that kind of place where you take the bread and scarpetta the plate clean. Don't know what scarpetta means? Look it up and get your butt here. The place was affordable as well, beers and all for 4 people came out to about $35 a head, and the service was awesome on a Wednesday night. I can't imagine how full it must get during the weekend. Ah. The neighborhood joint I always craved for. What a spectacular little gem of a place in the MIMO area of town, in a very nondescript shopping center next to my barber. The place is inviting and kind of homey, and when you go to this place you can tell most of the clientele are Belle Meade, Morningside, and Miami Shores locals who have already staked claim to this new eatery like it has been here for years. While there are several great pastas and other Italian dishes (both southern and northern Italian), the cornerstone of the menu are the fantastic fresh and creamy cheeses. As a first course you can try one of the several fresh cheeses (burrata, fior di latte, mozzarella di bufala, ricotta, etc) served with several accompaniments. I've had several of the combinations and they have all been stupendous. Other standouts on the menu include the tuna tartare, the eggplant parmigiana (which is delicate and light not heavy like a normal southern Italian Italian/american joint), and the lasagnetta. All the food is just terrific, and the wine list is very good and very reasonably priced (most bottles are around $30). It really the perfect neighborhood spot, and I'm glad it's in my neighborhood. The owner is friendly and helpful, so feel free to ask for his recommendations on anything on the menu. There are very good desserts, keeping with the dairy theme the tiramisu and the panna cotta are to die for. I can't recommend this place highly enough. We stopped by here one evening after shopping in the area. We waited a while in the parking lot, and still didn't find a space. After parking across Biscayne Blvd we walked back and were fortunate to snag one of the last available tables. The atmosphere at Ni.Do. is cozy and feels authentic. We sat outdoors on the side of the restaurant. The decor seemed to be from Italy with cute window covers that open to a mirror. For food we ordered: Vellutata Di Zucca creamy pumpkin, creamy parmesan & rosemary- It was creamy, hearty, tasty, and hot! (the way soup should be!) Pappardelle Con Salsa Di Porcini home pasta in porcini sauce-The pasta tasted home made. The porcini mushrooms were outstanding. The flavors in this dish were perfect. (The following were thoroughly enjoyed by my friends, I did not get to sample): From the Mozzarella Bar: Bufala Campana Polpo octopus, arugula, chick peas, kalamata olives, feta cheese & orange section. Spinaci. Caprino E Pancetta baby spinach, goat cheese, crispy pancetta, peanuts, raspberry vinaigrette. The atmosphere and food were outstanding. The service seemed rushed and overwhelmed, and were difficult to find when we needed something.The prices are slightly above average, for the service, but the food is of excellent quality. Had dinner here while staying nearby at the Vagabond Hotel. Since it's right next door to the hotel it is within walking distance. There were four of us so we ordered a variety of dishes. We had the Short Rib Ravioli -- very good; the salmon - cooked to your liking and a generous portion; and the potato gnocchi with pesto sauce - fresh, soft and light. For dessert we shared tiramisu, which was creamy but missing the liquor, and crepes, which were warm and sweet. Both were delicious and worth ordering again. A good finish to a tasty meal. Service was attentive and helpful. Our waiter was honest and informative and provided excellent suggestions for those in the group who were undecided. I had the ravioli stuffed with fig and Gorgonzola sauce and walnuts-also order the arugula and shaved parmeggiano with cherry tomatoes divine !!! Also we ordered the Specialty for the day which were sweet potato gnocchi's with a light porcini sauce! For dessert we ordered a cheesecake which had a little bit more anise flavor than what one is usually used to- however the berry compote of the top was quite delicious and the cheesecake was as well, but it was just again a different flavor concept for a cheesecake m-but all in all the experience was fantastic. Came for bunch while waiting for my call about .75 miles away. It was a good walk and I was greeted warmly in the mostly empty restaurant. Some good light italian food sounded good. I got a nice table outside, and promptly had some water in front of me. I opted for the Buratta which comes with a "side", I got the tomatoes which were marinated. The Buratta was fantastic, highly recommend, they make it on premise along with the Buffala (Which is very rare to be made in the US, I almost think the sever lied to me.). The side of tomatoes was too small for the amount of cheese, the portions could be a much better balanced. It was still a good deal at around $11. I got a caesar salad as well just to round out my meal, and it was well done and a very large portion. They served some excellent italian crusty bread as well. I'm a big fan of fresh cheeses, especially Burratta so this place was on my list since first opening. Once again it's on my list, since my wife has to try it! Approved! read more

From the staff to the overall ambiance of this lovely little mozzarella bar, everything was better than I could've hoped for. While not located in what I would consider the best neighborhood (any place with run down buildings and weird traffic patterns make me uncomfortable), don't fret: Ni.Do truly is a hidden gem. The waiters and staff were all pleasant. I don't think there was one employee that didn't come up to us to make sure we were satisfied at some point during our visit. Everyone seemed to work as a team, so of course the environment was a good one. As our entrees, my friend and I ordered the Capri panini (tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil) and the other (whose name escapes me) was salmon, cream cheese, and capers. To my surprise, both panini's were huge! I couldn't even finish my Capri panini, which was absolutely delicious. They also brought a serving of home fries and a side salad. What an amazing evening!!! Finally a truly Italian experience. If you want to have authentic Italian food this is the place to go. The menu is filled with amazing Italian choices from Burrata, Buffala Mozzarella with Prosciutto, to amazing fresh Salads, all the Italian pasta dishes Gnocci, Lasagna, to amazing desserts. Tiramisu is highly recommended. The service is outstanding, our waiter was very patient and was able to explain the specials and made very tempting suggestions. The owner came to our table to make sure we were satisfied and was open to our comments. She wanted to make sure we were satisfied with our experience at NiDo. They also have additional Menu item on a chalk board by the bar where I found a delicious salad with Fresh pears and blue cheese (I asked If I could get Goat Cheese instead, and they were able to accommodate my request) The lasagna was amazing. The sauce was carefully infused with herbs and spices that were all over my taste buds. It is a perfect place for a date, family dinner or a group affair. Tonight we had kids in our group and they were able to make some simple dishes for the kids to enjoy as well. Their pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauce was Impeccable and the kids devoured it. I have had this place bookmarked for a while now and a few days ago had the opportunity to go for lunch with one of my partners. This is the type of place I wish we had more of. Every 5 star review is well, very well deserved. Our visit started with the owner coming to greet us and guide us to our table. Some warm nice Italian bread with olive oil and vinegar was brought to the table, and was immediately devoured by us. The owner gave us the menu and immediately gave us his recommendations and favorites. We had the soup of the day which was a mushroom soup. One word, DELICIOUS!!! The soup was creamy and did not needed anything else, no salt, no pepper, just a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese which Georgia, the owner's wife, was so kind to do. My partner had the Paccheri with the sausage and spicy garlic sauce. I wasn't in the mood for anything heavy so I went with the Spinach, grana and pancetta salad. My partner's pasta dish was excellent. The paccheri, which was my first time trying it, was perfectly cooked. The sausage and spicy garlic sauce was amazingly put together in a way neither the garlic nor the sausage overpowered each other. My salad was nothing more than a bowl of spinach with shaved fresh parmesan, pancetta in a balsamic reduction. Yes, the salad was that simple yet it was fantastic. Fantastic in a way that you take the first bite, lean back enjoy the pancetta and cheese swimming around you mouth and say..AHH THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE!!!! One other reason I love this place, the chef came to ask how was everything. Which we were happy to reply, GREAT!!! For dessert we had to try Georgia's torta. Georgia, the wife of the owner and also part owner of the place, makes the tortas for dessert. That day she had made orange and dark chocolate torta. Oh My God!!!! That's all I can say. Great addition to the upper east side! I had a love/hate relationship with Le Cafe but I am so happy that Ni.Do. has taken over this space. As before, this is a great romantic spot to take a date and not much has changed layout wise. The interior is a little nicer than before. However the food her has improved by leaps and bounds. First we had to start with the burrata and it was creamy and delicious. I still haven't been able to find a better burrata in Miami than Cioppino (who flies in their burrata from Italy weekly), but this is pretty good. I had the black pasta special which was just OK. However, the Pappardelle ai Porcini was spectacular - perfectly rich and delicious. Really between a 4 and 5 but I'll give Ni.Do. the round up due to the great service and awesome ambiance. A really cute, slightly upscale (but never pretentious) Italian cafe. Went for lunch and brunch. At lunch, the octopus salad was absolutely amazing... Big chunks of fresh octopus that clearly had just come off the grill, and cooked perfectly. The fresh bread (baked in the house) that they drop on every table is worth the trip, as well as the accompanying high-quality olive oil and the basalmic vinegar. Phenomenal service.
