It's sometimes hard to dine out as a vegan. While there are no vegan specific dishes- our capable and handsome head waiter and server Nicola from Naples rigged me a delicious quinoa salad with spinach and tomatoes and olives. I ate two plates. If you are looking for fresh and authentic Italian food in the Miami Beach area look no further than NiDo. The egg noodles were divine and reminded me of my grandma's, almost as good . The burrata made me envious as I try and try but I can never get the right constancy and you can tell that this is made in the kitchen and is t rolling off of a truck. LOVE ME SOME ITALIAN FOOD. NiDo Caffe is nestled just past design district near another favorite restaurant of ours. We decided to try the Miami Spice menu as they are dog friendly. We made a reservation for a Thursday night. Although not many people were there, we were immediately escorted to the patio with our dog. The waitress brought him a cute doggy bowl of water and ensured that he was taken care of too. We started with the appetizers. I had the octopus salad. This was a spinach, olive, feta, tomato salad with pieces of tender, grilled octopus and roasted potatoes and delicious house made dressing. My husband had the meatball which was succulent and stuffed with cheese. For entrees, I had the ravioli fichi which is ravioli stuffed with figs. It was amazing, just perfect savory and slightly sweet. The pasta cooked perfectly al dente with walnuts and a light sauce on top. My husband had the gnocchi with asiago cheese and braseola which was just fluffy little pillows of deliciousness. For dessert, we finished with tiramisu which was light and airy. Perfect ratio of coffee to chocolate. We would be remiss if we did not mention the outstanding service. The waitresses were phenomenal, quick service, wonderful recommendations. Came here for lunch and found a little gem in a charming setting. We sat outside surrounded by manicured hedges that gave us privacy from the sidewalk. Ordered a caesar salad with crispy bacon bits and croutons. I will say this was one of the better salads as it was not to creamy with the dressing. The fresh bread was warm and crispy. Also had the smoked salmon panini with creme cheese and capers which was just what I needed! The panini was warm and not too toasted and the smoked salmon was really tasty. One of the reason I got into Yelp was Second Saturdays related - I was trying to find a post art walk dinner stop. That tradition continues with NiDo! A short drive away from all the galleries it provided a chill spot to quench my pasta craving tonight. I was greeted by who looked to be the executive chef and helped to a corner table, despite walking in right around the posted closing time. The owner introduced himself and brought out some crispy-on-the-outside-soft-inside Italian baguette, olive oil and vinegar. Good sign #1 since I judge an Italian place by the bread - perfect texture and not heavy! Craving pasta, the gnocchi with basil and red sauce caught my eyes. My nose was pleased with a dish smelling of fresh basil, maybe a hint of oregano and plenty of tomato. Supplemented with fresh black pepper, my taste buds were pleased as well. Though the flavor sounds interesting, you must join me in trying their Pineapple and coconut Panna cotta. A pineapple syrup over a soft creamy background, it melted in my mouth leaving yummy taste memories. The espresso was strong enough that here it is 3AM and I'm doing this review :) What takes NiDo to five stars is also their service. Having both the owner and executive chef check in on me - I also saw him interact with other customers - shows a pleasant dedication. Other diners sitting with the executive chef (Lucca, I believe) recommended my dessert, but the spot is chill enough where you can dine with just your smartphone keeping you company. Decor is casually upscale, like the entertainment room and dining rooms of the nearby luxury homes, lighting's dim which complements the jazzy funk playing over the sound system and the TV showing Italian TV. I've lived in the Edgewater area for over a year and never knew this place existed! My daughter highly recommended it to me because we are both a fan of Italian cuisine. This is such a hidden gem right off of Biscayne, I am so happy we found this place. The service was perfect, and the food is absolutely delicious. It is so tasty and fresh! It is located in a plaza so there's parking available which is so convenient to not have to pay to park. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Nido it's a mall Italian restaurant that was recommended by a co-worker. I called two weeks prior to make reservation for 20 ppl. A young nice lady answer my call and asked for my name date and phone number. She was so sweet and nice I was so excited to work with her. I gave her the information she requested and how many ppl would be joining. After she repeated all the information back and said I would get a call back few days before the party so confirm reservations. 2 days before the dinner I got a called back by the manager confirming my reservations. I confirmed and that was it. When we arrived we got greeted and sited right away. We had few servers at all times and one was taking our order based on our sit and name. We did not get charged in one bill it was individual (20+ people) Nido makes delicious food and drinks. I don't remember the name of my plate but it was creamy and tasty. Great brunch spot in Miami. I found the place on yelp and got my fiancé to drive 5 miles out of the way to check it out. Location: there is parking in front and some street parking. When we arrived, all the spots were taken in front and we were lucky to find parking on the street. Service: at first the service was a bit slow, but we got to meet the owner and she made our day! She was vibrant and excited and ready to make us happy. The Italian hospitality and charm was shining through. She listened to the types of wines we liked and got us a bottle that knocked our flip flops off! Food: excellent. We both had eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. The potatoes that came with the meal had just the right amount of salt and baked garlic that complemented it nicely. They staff also worked with us to fit the menu to our food restrictions (gluten free). Overall, we were happy with the food. The wine took the meal to the next level. I've been interested in this place for a while and have been stalking their drool-worthy pics on Instagram ...oddly enough I actually won a contest for a dinner for two! Sooo lucky! We came early on a Friday night and the place was quiet but quickly started to get super busy. It has a really nice ambiance and the cutest and coziest outdoor seating area...think small candle lit tables in a terrace. We were greeted by the manager who gave us fantastic recommendations for our dinner. We started with the octopus salad...Insalate Polipo, it was warm with the most delicious, fresh, and tender octopus pieces; lightly crisp potato chunks, cherry tomatoes, olives, red onion and a light dressing. I have never had anything more phenomenal ! This dish blew my mind... Next I had the pappardelle with mushrooms...melt-in-your-mouth mushrooms! Super creamy and delicious. We concluded with a delicious gelato for dessert ...a pistachio and chocolate combo. The service was exceptional, very attentive and prompt. This place is a must! Definitely coming back. read more

QUICKIE REVIEW Get away from Olive Garden and step into here. FOOD We had the following: -Spaghetti alle vongole -Pappardelle con funghi Porcini Pappardelle con funghi Porcini was good. If you are a mushroom lover, you will appreciate the taste that comes with this. The spaghetti I would say was better do to it having a few more ingredients at play. Also, of the two, you may find that the pappardelle con funghi porcini is a tad bit heavier on the stomach. I know I am not comparing apples to apples here but just wanted to point that out. Nevertheless, both dishes are good and worth trying. PARKING There is parking in this little strip plaza but not much. However, there is street parking that runs down the side of the building that seems to be readily available. SERVICE & DÉCOR They are quick. We walked in at 9:55 pm and there was immediate seating. By 10:07 we had our wine glasses in hand and food was coming out of the kitchen. I am going to set a realistic expectation for myself that it was not busy when we went in. Nonetheless, talk about a first impression. Tables, condiments containers, heck, even getting the check delivered, did not have a traditional look and feel. You knew what everything was but their spin on presentation was refreshing (check pics). PRICE Dinner for two ran $53: two meals, two glasses of wine. Right about where it should be. This is one of those places I wish I had visited sooner even though I had saved it to one of my collections a long time ago but here it goes...Natalie, the owner was the sweetest most welcoming and attentive person in the restaurant and she's the face of the place so right off the you can tell they take pride in what they do here. Started a most delicious dinner with a Chardonnay, some bread to dip in oil and balsamic vinegar and a Caprese salad to get things going. Natalie recommended a few specials but I was there for one thing and one thing only...the short rib ravioli. I was not dissatisfied or one bit, perfectly cooked pasta stuffed with flavorful short rib in a white creamy sauce to die for. I mean I could eat just a basket of bread and this sauce as a dipping sauce, my god. Portions were just perfect after all that bread and I could almost lick the plate had I been alone. I left some room for the house made Tiramisu that came in a unique presentation as you can see in one of my pics, as a small clay planter I kid you not and it was super delish. I mean the food, the service and the ambiance are perfect for either a group or just an intimate romantic dinner for two.
