There seemed to be a bit of a contradiction between the quite reasonable and affordable brunch menu posted on Nick's on Broadway's website and the recent reviews on Yelp which referenced their prices as "it's a little pricey but it's worth it" (Jason R.) and "Two eggs Benedict dishes with a meat along with two cups of coffee totaled $42 before tip" (Holly S.). Yes, I was thoroughly confused, and a little concerned as we headed on over. But the menu proved to be accurate online, and the mystery was solved once we received our bill - while the brunch entrees we ordered from the menu were each under $10, the day's special eggs benedict with pulled pork rang up at $19. Nick's is a good sized establishment with two lengths of counter seats, a number of two seaters, and only a few tables in the inner dining space which could easily be reconfigured for larger parties, thus the 30 min estimation for our party of 5-6 even at 10am on a Saturday. And here I was thinking we would beat the brunch rush - silly me! Parking on the street was limited to 2 hours - read the signs as we noticed parking tickets being given out during our wait for a table which lasted 20 minutes. It took nearly 40 minutes for our food to be delivered. Portions are rather light for the standard American super-sized diet, but quite acceptable for the under $10 price tag, and we left content with one plate ordered per person - though we shared them amongst us. Buttermilk hotcakes were available by the piece - $3 for 1, $5 for 2, $7 for 3, and $8 for 4. Vanilla-battered, house-baked brioche French toast was $5 for 1 piece (a half order) or $8 for a full order of 2 pieces. Baked polenta of local corn + Vermot cheddar, with two eggs, baby spinach, basil-chimichurri + Parmesan cheese $9 intrigued. The pulled pork Eggs Benedict quoted to us from the daily specials won us over. Vegetables were added to the table through the Frittata of Rhode Island mushrooms, broccoli, zucchini, summer squash + Narragansett Creamery feta cheese, with toast (Pesto-grilled bread) $9 We also ordered an off menu item - Prosciutto Breakfast Sandwich $9 after spotting it at a neighboring table before one of Nick's regulars. Everything was pretty good, with the best tastes being the baked polenta and the pulled pork benedict. I really didnt want to review this place but yelp suggested I did, so here we go. I remember why i never come here honestly. The location is great and the restaurant is very NYC vibes. Too bad the food and service don't match up. We walked in and was greeted and sat by the bartender. We were greeted by a girl with glasses and longer curly hair. I asked for vegan options but she didn't mention a lot. I read on yelp they were accommodating it's why we chose here. After all the "options" all I ended up getting was a side of breakfast potatoes..... Those weren't even good at all. Skin was tough and potatoes were hard in the middle with no flavor. Seriously that's all I got and I couldn't even eat that. Hot sauce just made it worse. I won't even go into the other people at my tables food. This is just about my meal. The water glasses on the table are soooooo small the server should be attentive or leave a craf on the table. I was without water many times. Then my partners coffee was bone dry not refilled until he actually had to get up and ask for it. The server actually came to refill my water once and literally had the ordacity to put the coffee pot next to my partners cup and not even realize to fill it. We were so puzzled. My friend comes here a lot she grabbed the bartender who usually waits on her to help this server out. She also told me I could have had wayyyyyyyyyyy more to eat there my server just didn't tell me all the vegan options. At this point after waiting 30 minutes for horrible potatoes and finding out I could have eaten more, I just left. My partner and friend finished their sub par meal without me. I'll register as the last half-informed citizen to try Nick's On Broadway now. Clearly, I've heard the noise about their epic food and friendly confines - I'm just very partial to a neighboring establishment. That said, I'd avoided Nick's long enough, to the point of ignorance. No more. I strolled in through the sleek but welcoming bar area and made my way to the kitchen-side counter, all bedecked in red tile. I was greeted by a no-nonsense menu not sprawling with options, but written as to imbue confidence that dishes only made it in if they were good enough to make the cut - no sprawl here. I weighed several options and decided on the black beans, eggs, and salsa dish that was reminiscent of a Mayan breakfast I had numerous times in Mexico. I added a large bowl of fruit to the order, along with coffee and orange juice. The bowl of fruit would seem to be below remarking upon, but every last piece in the bowl was very pleasingly crisp, or plump, or juicy - I will gladly get this every time. The orange juice was also fresh-squeezed and had that satisfying wholesome flavor and mouthfeel that leaves you feeling like you just did something good when you finish it off. As for the main dish (formally Black beans with two eggs, grilled tortilla, local tomato salsa + avocado-cilantro crème), I prefer refritos to black beans, but this was a beautiful, well-balanced, and hearty meal that I attacked enthusiastically. My only complaint would be that there would appear to be better tortillas out there that could more capably scrape up all the goodness on your way to joining the Clean Plate Club, but I think you catch my drift that we're talking about a tasty set-up here. Julie was friendly, attentive, and engaging, and the ambience was breakfast-appropriate chill, save for some more lively conversation here and there. Thanks to Yelp and a Google search for top brunch spots in providence, we were able to discover this incredible restaurant. It was a Saturday afternoon around 1, and there was no wait but the place was almost packed. I loved the service here. We sat at the bar and were able to see how much fun the workers here had with each other and the level of engagement with their customers! When it comes to ordering, they are very accommodating, making sure to check in with your allergies or any preferences. My only downside was that it took a long time for our three dishes to come out. About 40 minutes. But like I said, they do accommodate to everyone's preferences so some dishes may take longer to create. I had what is normally called the chicken gravy and biscuit. Theirs was a fancier version with ricotta cheese and mushrooms- it was perfectly flavored and the biscuit, despite the gravy on top, was crispy!! My husband ordered the pulled pork Benedict, quite a unique twist to the traditional version. If you like pulled pork you'll like this. We also had a herb crusted tofu on the side. The food was good, but following our order, we waited well over an hour to be served. We sat at the counter to take advantage of the open kitchen. The food was fantastic. We shared the roasted oysters and whipped feta toast to start and then had the roasted chicken and sea bass. I was torn between the four and five star and would probably give it a 4.5 if I could. I'd heard a lot about Nick's on Broadway--tons of people raving about it (as you can see by all the five star reviews)--so I had high expectations. I wouldn't go so far as to say they were unmet, but it wasn't an overall wonderful experience full of angels singing and clouds parting. My friend and I arrived for a late brunch between 12:30-1pm. We ended up finishing brunch around 4:30 pm. In part, we had a relaxed, two-part meal (brunch and then another round, for dessert), but we also waited an incredibly long time to be seated. I wouldn't have minded that, but it took fifteen minutes before we could even find someone to put our name on the wait list, another ten minutes to put in a drink order, and another twenty minutes to receive our drinks. Once I had alcohol in me, the wait didn't seem so bad. (The Bloody Mary was okay, but not in the top tier of best Bloody Marys I've ever had). Once we were seated (space is tight there--not a lot of tables), things were great. The crowds cleared out, and the staff was friendly with regard to us hanging around sipping coffee. Our waitress was friendly and helpful when it came to food-decision-making. I had one of the specials, something similar to eggs benedict but without biscuit--poached eggs over sweet potato cakes--and it tasted very fresh...an interesting, but good, combination of flavors. For the "second round," my friend and I shared the warm maple-walnut bread pudding with cranberry ice cream, and it was delicious but smaller than expected (I'm actually happy with the portion size because I would've over-eaten otherwise). All of the food was great but in a way that didn't leave a lasting impression. I would recommend Nick's for brunch just for the experience. I've lived in Providence for three years, and anytime I ask for a brunch recommendation from a local, Nick's is always the first thing they say! It was time to try it out. My two friends and I went to a week-day brunch here. We made a reservation for 3, and were comfortably seated at a 5-person table. The tables are well-spaced out and all staff wear masks so it feels very COVID-safe. In total, we got the following: - Bloody Mary, Mimosa, draught beer - Pineapple-coconut french toast for the table - Honey chili chicken biscuit - Rigatoni bolognase - Special plus (eggs, potatoes, biscuit, bacon) The alcoholic beverages were very good; the mimosa was made with a heavy pour of champagne, much to my delight! The Bloody Mary was a classic version of the drink. I've had them at other restaurants where they offer a lot more "fixins" (bacon, olives, pickles, etc.). We ordered a french toast for the table. Based on prior review, it seems that Nick's changes its french toast offering weekly. I think of myself as a french toast connoisseur, and the one on offering today did NOT disappoint. I have never had fresh pineapple with toasted coconut on french toast - it was delicious! The flavors were complimentary, there was a nice variety of textures (the crispness of the pineapple with the coconut crunch with the softness of the french toast), and it was not too sweet. I would recommend! The special plus was a pretty average breakfast special plate. Honestly, the eggs were my least favorite part - the bacon that came with the plate was delicious (the perfect thickness and it seemed like some sort of sugar-glaze), and the potatoes is a mix of white and sweet which was a welcomed surprise. The honey chili chicken biscuit was very good, but the biscuit is flaky which makes it difficult to eat/hold. It also could have used some more hot sauce, which was easily remedied with the side of hot sauce they brought to the table. The WINNER was the rigatoni bolognase. I *truly* would never have though to get a pasta dish at a place known for brunch, but my friend was in the mood so we acquiesced. It was AMAZING. It was a large portion; they do not skimp on the bolognese part (but they also don't use too much cheese). Overall, it was a great experience. As previous reviewers have said, the ingredients tasted very fresh and they seemed thoughtful about locally sourcing when possible. My only caveat would be that both times I've been there, the service has been extraordinarily slow. Of note, both times were weekday breakfasts, where they may have been under-staffed because they did not anticipate how busy they would be, but I would not go back here for a brunch if I had a tight schedule to adhere to. read more

I have been wanting to come here for a long time and I was not disappointed on this visit. We stopped in for a late breakfast and everything about it was great. I had the Polenta which was a mixture of heirloom tomato and Vermont cheddar, fantastic, with a fried egg on it. Great flavor! My wife had the two eggs and potatoes with a side of the grilled coffee cake with rhubarb preserves. My DIL went with the Egg Sandwich and added the Chicken Maple Sausage, she loved it. My son had the Toasted RI Mushroom, Onion, Oat and Mozzarella Cakes. He raves about them and based on the bite I had he was correct to rave about them. Went here on a Saturday morning with a 10am reservation. We were seated immediately in a super cute booth/table which I loved. They have an open kitchen so it was fun to be able to and hear orders coming up. At the table we had a cassoulet, special plus and egg and bacon biscuit sandwich with an additional soup. My only beef with this place is there is no substituting and they charged more for many things. Besides that the food was solid although a little pricey. Cassoulet was incredible and the most unique dish. Biscuit sandwich had an amazing biscuit but the amount of egg and bacon was small. One piece of bacon for $3 seems crazy to me. The thing I liked most was the soup-pumpkin, squash, apple and the croutons made me chuckle-check out the photo. The mixed greens were also very good. I didn't love the potatoes and the bacon with the special plus was a much bigger and better option. The service was incredible and our waitress was awesome! Super helpful with answering questions and attentive without being overbearing. The space was warm and clean, open kitchen is perfect for people watching, and the wait staff was lovely. The coffee was delicious(which is never a given these days) and the menu was full of local treats. Nothing was listed as vegan which always disappoints me-we are in Providence people, get with it. But I told the waitress about my lactose intolerance, and she readily told me about their in house made focaccia that had no dairy, and that the savory items can be made without. I wish I saved room for dessert, but I was so stuffed from my meal. My husband & I visited Nick's for my birthday brunch last week & were so pleased with everything. We went on a Wednesday with no wait & sat outside on the covered patio. The ambiance was great, our server was attentive, and our food was wonderful. I had an egg sandwich with potatoes (so yum,) my husband had the grilled cheese with peach jam & we split the strawberry rhubarb french toast. It was all SO GOOD. We were seated immediately at the bar and I had the maple sausage snack and the Vermont polenta cheddar dish with over easy eggs. The service was outstanding and our server was a delight. Dinner started a little strange with them saying the only room they had was at the kitchen bar, even through the place was mostly empty (and it stayed that way). I've been wanting to try this place for literally years and finally got the chance for brunch on Valentines Day.. and I was disappointed. We ordered an omelette, one French toast and eggs benny that took 40 minutes.. so I would not recommend if you're starving or in a rush. I get that everything is made to order and it was a little busy, but I've been to other places where it's much bigger and busy and their "made to order" dishes did not take that long. The food was mediocre - it cost $3.50 to add very small pieces of ham to my omelette. I don't mind additional charges but the omelette itself wasn't worth $12 or so. The home fries came out hard and bland as if it was left out for a while. I was hoping it was soft like any other place because I had my wisdom teeth pulled and struggled to eat it. 3 stars because the waitress was very nice, but I would probably not go back. All of this food and my mimosa was $50 and I never mind paying for food but that would've been way cheaper and more tasty at other breakfast spots I go to. My wife had an omelette, it was all dried out. My supposed egg(s) were dried out as well. Sadly I couldn't find one positive thing to say about the food. My FAVORITE breakfast spot in Rhode Island (maybe ever?)! Every time I try a new breakfast spot, I compare it to Nick's. I've waited anywhere between 1 minute (Friday morning) to an hour (Sunday afternoon). The wait is completely worth it. I usually get the eggs Benedict or the French toast. The eggs Benedict are the best I've ever had. One thing I love is that they come on a biscuit. The French toast is thick and delicious. The home fries are always crispy and well-seasoned. The service is alright- not bad but could be better. Upon arrival, putting your name on the wait list could be a bit of a hassle (they really need a better system...). This place gets so busy that sometimes you can wait an eternity for your water to be refilled or for your check to arrive. This won't stop me from returning though. read more

Very gluten free friendly! Almost every dish on the menu can be modified for gluten and dairy allergies. Their gluten free pesto Toast is so delicious that you should get it even if you're not gluten free! All of their ingredients are very fresh and they have a delicious homemade hot sauce. read more

Nick's On Broadway has a really nice charm to it. Of course the open kitchen is incredible. I've always loved being able to see into the action of cooking. The energy in this place is wonderful and I really think part of it comes from having the open kitchen the way it is. The set up in general is also really nice. I enjoy the windows a lot. Service was great. Staff was awesome. For food we had Char-grilled sirloin, sauteed veggies, Black Bass Filet and Sea Scallops. Food was made / cooked / prepared to perfection. Lots of flavor. Nothing tasted like it was at all lacking in any kind of taste or anything of the sort. Presentation was nice too. Had the vanilla-lime panna cotta. Incredible. And the chocolate tasting. This has definitely become one of my new favorite places for sure! read more
