Two eggs over easy, country ham, and breakfast potatoes
Taylor G.

Ladies and gentlemen...THIS is a diner! I've been visiting the Potomac/Bethesda area for the last week and when I tell you, I could not find a real diner around here that wasn't a chain or outrageously priced lol. I walk into here and it feels just like Home in New Jersey. Hard-working people, making magic at the grill. While, I would've killed to try the pancakes, i'm not having bread right now so that was a bummer but they looked amazing. I can say however I visited this place three times on my trip for breakfast. You pay the right amount of money and you get high-quality, delicious food. The bacon is thick sliced, the omelettes are beautifully prepared, the country ham is a must get! It's sliced fresh right in front of you. I wish I could articulate in a better way how much I enjoyed this place. Just the people in there as well. Meaning no offense, but Potomac is kind of notorious for having a bunch of snobby, uppity people around who kind of seem detached from real life. So coming in here where it was down-home, hard-working people you were surrounded by ---both customer and employees--- I felt way more at home eating here. If you're looking for a true bang for your book, you have to try this place out. Better than paying $20 for the same exact meal at some local chain diners in the area.

Consistently great breakfast here. Parking can be difficult because it's on a busy intersection. The service is quick and food is always hot. It's a very family oriented place. Prices are good and there is always seating when I've gone in the mornings.

It's a solid diner only open for breakfast and lunch. A limited menu with breakfast, salads and sandwiches. The service was good, once they actually remembered the water. It seemed like they worked as a team. It's very casual inside like a diner should be

It's a diner- no frills, simple menu, you know what you're getting. We came here for a weekend brunch and it was packed. The table seating is definitely cramped. There was a short wait, and then we were able to grab seats at the counter. They have a small parking lot, but it can be difficult to get to depending on which direction you're coming from. We were able to park in the lot next door and walk over. The waitresses were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They have a system in place to keeps things moving but organized. I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes with corned beef hash. Food took a while to be brought out, but business was booming so there was a lot of hustle and bustle in the kitchen. Portions are good for the price. Service was efficient - I ordered the pancakes and it came with pats of butter, and the waitress knew to bring out the syrup without prompting. There was a generous amount of chocolate chips and the pancakes were adequately fluffy. The corned beef hash was good but not as crisp as I would've liked. Service was responsive to requests such as bringing extra napkins, and they were mindful of offering drink refills. Sitting at the counter, I had a view of their fridge and it had their canned Pepsi soda products, Ocean Spray cranberry juice, Safeway apple juice, reused Food Lion jugs of iced tea and lemonade, and other generic orange juice... I kind of wish I didn't see behind the curtain. As other Yelpers have mentioned, the bathroom is behind the counter, through the swinging doors - I thought they were joking at first, but they were serious. Aside from the menu, Nick's Diner was lacking the charms of a diner that I look for - music, milkshakes/desserts, and blue plate specials. Our experience was completely fine, just nothing special or alluring to warrant my return.

This Wheaton staple is known to many, and now it's known to me. No thrill, no frills, great breakfast for a good price. I had the pancakes, potato's, turkey sausage and eggs. I left this establishment with a full stomach and my taste buds satisfied. The customer service was excellent. Treat yourself!

Best consistent food and service around and always served with a smile. Great spot when you want lunch and your company wants breakfast. Burger was excellent!

Best home fries around, I never leave Nicks hungry, great portions! Lunch specials are always tasty. Prepare for a wait on weekend mornings.

Really solid four stars and a strong recomend fora cozy, relaxed and casual dinner with your partner, freinds, yourself or family. The only note is parking in their lot is nigh impossible some times, so your best bet is to find street parking nearby and drop anyone who can't walk all that far. If you don't drink they seem to have a limited NA beer selection, and I didn't see any mocktails. We really liked our beet salad and our Ceasar salad, which came out os fast, I wonder if they already had them prepped. I really liked my fish and chips as it was a nice portion and wasn't heavy on the frying at all. It was very well done and the tartar sauce was great. My wife got the (I think it was a special) Tuna poke for her main, which she said was really tasty. But, it also looked like a small portion in one of those weird plates that only had a modest divut in the middle for food. Nonetheless, she liked it a lot. If it becomes a mainstay, they just need to make it a bigger portion on a better bowl. We're happy we finally came and will return.

We ordered a few dishes to share, and everything was well-executed and flavorful. The brussels sprouts were a standout to start, and the mussels in the coconut curry had a rich, well-balanced flavor. I also really enjoyed the grilled Faroe salmon with the butternut squash purée--it was cooked perfectly. The steak frites with the red wine mushroom reduction glaze was another favorite and definitely worth ordering. For drinks, I tried the Cherry Blossom "Another Trip Around the Sun" (a seasonal cocktail available through April 12th), along with the brown sugar old-fashioned and the lavender French 75. All three were well-made and complemented the meal nicely. Overall, this is a solid spot if you're looking for a cozy atmosphere, good food, and quality cocktails. I'd definitely come back and would recommend it to anyone in the area looking for a reliable dinner spot.

She's funny, attentive, and gives honest food recommendations if you're undecided on the menu. She's also incredibly talented -- we watched her balance six cups of coffee to another table without using a tray! On our first visit, a Saturday morning, we ordered the blueberry pancakes (I love when the blueberries are cooked into the pancakes instead of just sprinkled on top), scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, turkey bacon, potatoes with onions, and coffee. Everything was affordable and delicious, so much so that we came back two days later. On our second visit, a Monday, we asked to be seated in April's section! She actually remembered us because we shared the potatoes the first time and she even asked if we wanted to share them again (yes, please... and she brought two small plates!). This time we had scrambled eggs, potatoes with onions, turkey sausage, turkey bacon, toast, and a biscuit. We even dropped some quarters into the tabletop jukebox for the full diner experience. I'd definitely visit again and have already recommended it to relatives who live in the area!

Tastee Diner is solidly in the latter category. The food is not particularly good, and not particularly cheap. It's just a very, very old room. Do yourself a favor. I was told this charge does not go to the waiter but is instead shared with other staff (busser, host, etc.), and that customers are expected to leave an additional tip for the server. I initially left a 20% tip because I did not notice the automatic 18% service charge. To make matters worse, I was initially given the wrong receipt, which added to the confusion. When I realized the service charge had already been included and asked for the extra tip to be removed, the waiter told me he does not receive any portion of the 18% charge. I asked whether the expectation was for customers to leave a total of 38%, and I was told that is how it works at this restaurant and in Washington DC. I found the billing and tipping process confusing and misleading. I won't be back.
