Nica is the only option in Concord if you want to go clubbing. Although it is not a club and just a lounge, you still can dance and have a great time. They have a solid security team who will pat you down at the entrance and will check your id with a scanner. As a matter of fact, my id was expired and the door guy did not let me in once. I enjoy being at safe establishments. Their drinks are resonantly priced. Music is ranging from hip hop to reggae ton. They have bottle service and three cocktails waitresses will dance for you - check out the video below. Bartenders are cool and have smiles on their faces. We checked out the Nica Lounge on a Saturday afternoon around 6 pm. They've got daily happy hours in the early afternoon, and with the weather getting nice they're able to open up the front windows so there's good airflow. The bar gets great natural lighting during the day, which makes it feel more classy and less like a dive. Well drinks during HH were only $5 (I held steady with my classic rum & diet Coke), but when we asked how much a glass of wine was we got a tentative "$10?" as the reply. I decided to stick with liquor and beer. It was too early for the club scene, but they've got a dance floor that looks pretty chill, along with plenty of room at the front of the house to hang out and mingle. We loved the golden upholstery that covered the seating and the bar itself (!). Decor was an interesting blend of 70's velvet and sleek modern. Very Concord chic. With a solid drink list and some more wine available, this would be a solid hangout for us. Not a bad place to hit after starting at the Hop Grenade or EJ Phair, or to pre-game before Vinnie's and other classy establishments. Cheers! read more

What? Someone said Salsa Night, where!!?? First time visiting this place and had a pleasant experience. This review is specifically for Tuesday Salsa & Bachata Latin night. Location wise: It's located off Salvio St right across from a parking garage and blocks from Movie theatre. Atmosphere: Walked in around 9 and place wasn't too busy. By 10 more people showed up and people were up and shakin it. Very friendly atmosphere overall. In fact, our bartender Charday was a great host, she was welcoming and generous as well. We tipped her generously too $$. There are two areas for dancing, the front and the side with "salsa friendly" clean dance floors. DJ Willie, started the night with a series of Bachata songs, then switched between Salsa & bachata for the rest of the night. If you are in the salsa community, you always run tnto people you know, or make new friends. Ladies there were not shy at all to ask my friends to dance. Was fun watching them dance with their two left feet...Ole!! So overall we all had a fun night. Def will be back. Worth mentioning, was told there is also a Sunday salsa night there with a live band which I will try out one day. Till then, Viva la Salsa!! read more

Bad news for this one. Just to keep it short.. paid $105.00 for 4 ppl to get in. 2 of us went in first while the other 2 followed after a while.... Girl in the front gave us a hard time. None of us stayed and left. WOULD LOVE OUR REFUND. Unprofessional customer service. This place changed.. It's really sad. Would not be returning and will dispute our charges. Made a visit to Nica one Friday night, paid $100 for a group of 4. Us first 2 went ahead & got stamped while the other 2 came a little afterwards. The security guard & the girl up front DENIED ENTRY & DENIED giving our money back. They were so unprofessional & rude, I've never encountered a place with so many people who were so impolite. Will not be coming back to waste my money, if only I can give them 0 stars. We definitely would love our refund of $100. read more

Under new owners and there really think this place is Vegas . We usually come here on a night where we want to keep it real low key and chill. We have not been here in a few years... so we walk up and guy says no hoodie. My bf had it dressed up (he really did) . So we walk back to the car, he takes off the hoodie he had under his jacket... walk back.. guy says vaccination card .. all while a guy is arguing with a guy who was trying to get it. Long story short- we left.. that place is not worth a drive . But if you are looking for a place that stays pretty dead as far as capacity goes, i would def consider. read more

Horrible service. My friends and I arrived to have a drink after returning from a sf giants game. There were a total of 5 people inside and they turned us away because we were in "sports gear, which was only jerseys, no hats. We would understand if you had a large crowd, but there was literally no one there. We will not attempt to attend again. read more

Concord, California: the city with 120,000 people and no nightlife. Well, unless you go to that dive bar downtown. Nica Lounge has set out to change that. I've been to several salsa spots and nightclubs in San Francisco, and surprisingly, Nica has the same feel. It's a place for people to come and party. It could be that the owners and managers had quite a bit of experience in these spots, kept running into people from Walnut Creek, these people kept saying "there's nothing like this back home", so the owners and managers sought to provide that spot in the 925. Large bar area, seats along the wall, spots for both a DJ and live music. And, naturally, two places to dance. I was intrigued by this place. Then Orquesta Borinquen, my favorite Latin band, had a date here, so I went. I got there at 8:00 that Sunday night, and it was already full of people. Some came to drink, some came to dance, and as is typical, there are few people in both crowds (I've danced with a few drink-`til-he's-a-stud types, and it's not a good experience). I think I got a good example of what Nica is like, regardless of their marketing. It is a fun place. If you go with friends and are able to snag a table, then count yourself blessed. The staff walks around, making sure people are okay; no doubt a few of them are undercover bouncers. A few difficulties I had: It's a small location, so the dance floor is crammed. One blonde I bachata'd with laughed "This place is tiny!" Typical of nightclubs in The City, agreed, but I still miss Cocomo. And the sound was atrocious. The live band was too loud for the acoustical setup, the DJ was better. As a side note, it would be nice to hear the DJ play more bachata, after 60% salsa and 30% merengue. Overall, Nica is pretty good, and no need to go through a tunnel and/or bridge to get there. read more

Finally something to do that isn't in Oakland or San Francisco. Walnut Creek has attempted to create a night life scene; but everything closes way too early. Nica Lounge in Concord is a success! Thank you for gracing downtown Concord with your presence. My friends and I stopped by this past Friday night around 11pm, the lounge was "lit". We made our way to the door, but found ourselves to be all out of cash! Bummed, we decided to leave. Fortunately, this really awesome guy names Joe decided to let us in. Super sweet of him!!! Thank goodness he did, because we had a phenomenal time. The DJ was spinning good music, throwbacks and goodies for people my age (lol). The bar is cool, the bathrooms aren't too bad, and the security is cool. If you haven't been to Nica Lounge, make some time and stop by. Womp womppp -- if I could give 0 stars, I would. BACKSTORY: came here Saturday, May 18th to have a good time, but had the complete opposite. Came here with my 3 homegirls; 2 of them went ahead inside and PAID FOR ALL FOUR OF US (AMOUNTING TO $100, $25 EACH), while 2 of us stayed outside to finish our smoke break. Our 2 homegirls that went inside, came back out to check on us, BUT WERE STILL WITHIN THE VICINITY (since they had a little barricaded area near the entrance). Me and my homegirl that were outside, then followed our two other homegirls to enter the establishment. When we get to the entrance, we were rudely denied access to the establishment by the girl working the door. Confused, we remind her that ALL FOUR OF US have ALREADY BEEN PAID FOR (which wasn't that long ago before we get to the door, so not sure why it was such a misunderstanding). She still continued to deny us access to the establishment which, of course, rose confusion and frustration in us because who wouldn't be frustrated after paying a ridiculous cover fee? At that point, we were over it and just asked for a refund WHICH THEY ALSO DENIED US OF! Liiiiike, wouldn't that make sense to give us a refund since 2/4 of us never even got the chance to enter the establishment? The security guards then ask us to leave, and we did even after the distasteful events that took place. MORAL OF THE STORY: spend your money elsewhere because this establishment ain't worth the money nor energy. P.S. would still love our $100 refund just for the trouble alone. read more

We rolled in on Sunday night to check out the band. I've been thinking about this place for months because I'm fond of Latin music and this is one of the few venues for that style in the area. It's a small place and the band and DJ were a little loud for my taste, but smoking! It's a little bare-bones, they haven't spent much time or money on decor, but clean and comfortable... And very friendly. Reasonably priced, $10 cover and $10 each for a well Margarita and call rum (Flor de Caña 7 years). We had a ball. Staff and clientele are very friendly and there were dancers on the floor all night. We will be back! read more

Last night, I came to this wretched place. Cover was $10, which should have made me turn the other way. Music was a hit or miss. I ordered a rum & coke and two margaritas, but the woman bartender with blonde hair only made the rum and coke. I told her I also wanted two margaritas, and she said $8 (the price of rum & coke). Then I see her making drinks that weren't mine. I had to tell her again. When I paid, the receipt showed that she overcharged the rum and coke as "Hennessy" that she didn't use for $10. WTF. The margaritas were "Patron" for $11 each but I saw her putting very little Patron in them. Save your money. Go elsewhere. This place hires a bartender who is a straight up scammer. Trash. read more

We came here for reggae night. The DJ was very open to song suggestions. The actual dance floor itself is pretty tight. They played great reggae/dancehall/island music. The drinks were good and reasonably priced. The bathrooms are spacious and kept up well. Only problem is it's 1 stall for men and 1 stall for women so there was pretty much always a line for the bathroom. We will definitely be coming back here again. read more

We went to Nica Lounge for my friends bday. Nice salsa club in concord. We liked the live music and the space, it was perfect to dance. The only negative thing about this place is that it charges a $15 cover after 8 pm. This is a bit much especially for it being on a Sunday. The prices are also pretty expensive for the location. Most cocktail drinks were $10. I would recommend going for good music and dancing but not for the drinks. read more

NICA Lounge... A new Nice Innovative Club Atmosphere... right here in Concord! Okay I just made that up but being an acronym queen, I always look for the positive and this is positively an awesome lounge. First time I entered this place, I was amazed. The ambience is amazing and the owners and staff make everyone feel welcome. It is a quaint little place across from the movie theatre which is very convenient for a visit before or after catching a feature... They even offered salsa classes... and they have many events coming up so no need to leave Concord anymore because this place will draw the crowds. Drinks are awesome and the bartenders have skills. First time here was on a Thursday night, Reggae Night. Drinks were good, bartenders were nice. Security was great. No entry charge. Im a female who was here by myself and i never had any issues, but i felt confident that security would help if needed. Theyre very attentive. Bathroom - single stall for men and women, but on Thursday there was little to no line however they eventually ran out of paper towels and toilet paper. Music/dancing - personally i find reggae a bit difficult to dance to but once your drunk enough you make anything work lol.
