Lately I've been exploring Vietnamese food and when I looked at Nguyen's Kitchen's menu, I was intrigued by some of their menu items, so I decided to go check them out. I was meeting my foodie friend there at 12:30. The parking lot has limited space, which made it an extra challenge to park. Thankfully I only had to circle the block once to come back and snag a spot. (Meanwhile, my friend got there before me and was already enjoying an appetizer). Orders are placed at the counter and they call your number once your food is ready. The dining room consists of mostly booth seating with one "communal" table, and counter seating with 5ish chairs. There are also a handful of tables set outside. I've really been enjoying banh mi and their Bulgogi beef sandwich sounded great. I also happen to have a thing for popcorn chicken, so I got an order of that to round out my lunch. Oh, and based on the rave reviews I've read about their peach & lychee green tea, I ordered one of those as well. Let me just say, lunch was very satisfying! The sandwich was generously filled the fresh ingredients and the meat to veggie ratio was perfect. I'm not sure what the green sauce was that they finished the sammie off with but it was SO tasty!! I requested the popcorn chicken with medium heat and it was just spicy enough to leave my tongue tingling slightly. My friend saved an egg roll for me and it was also really good. (The tea by the way was very refreshing.) Now, this was my first time here but I never saw anyone come out to check the dining room or wipe down the tables after the lunch rush. This was especially concerning to me because they had a guy doing work on the windows who put his feet/ shoes on the tables right under said windows. Ewww. But aside from the parking challenge and the table hygiene/cleanliness, our visit was quite enjoyable and the food was very good. We would definitely return, but we'll have to plan around the lunch rush!

Came for a late-night meal as usual! This place was a great option since it's open until very late. Parking was a bit of a challenge since the lot is small, but some of us were able to find parking in adjacent lots or on the street. Once you walk in, there's seating along the edges and a counter where you place your order. It's a very small and cozy spot. Once you order, the cooks call your number when your food is ready. I went for the garlic noodles with bulgogi. You also have the option to add Parmesan cheese for free, which was cool! The flavor was very garlicky, as advertised, but not too overpowering. The sauce they give on the side has quite a kick, so I'd be cautious if you're sensitive to spice. I loved the variety on the menu and was pleasantly surprised to see a bit of Korean fusion in some of the dishes. Everyone enjoyed their meal and had a great time. I'd come back! :-)
Restaurant is on the border of Orange and Santa Ana by the CHOC hospitals. I've come back a few times and I love the grilled pork sandwich here. The green sauce that comes with it is delicious. I appreciate that everything is made to order here. There's indoor seating and a small free parking lot available.
Love their grilled pork vermicelli & beef sliders. I usually ask for extra fish sauce. Veggies are fresh and pickled carrots & daikon give it added flavor. Parking at the Orange location is a beast but otherwise love these 2 dishes. Hits the spot every time!
I was SO disheartened when the Nguyens kitchen by my house closed down a few years back, I mean what other place has plenty of seating, open until 2am, and makes amazing food that isn't your normal fast-food chains? I mean it's this place right here, and I was so glad to visit this location in Orange, absolutely nothing changed from the old location. My go to and possibly the best item in the menu is the bulgogi short rib steak bahn mi. It's extremely tender, it's not dry there's tons of juice, the pickled vegetables add the freshness you need and the cilantro with the little spike at the end. One of my favorite sandwiches I'm always in the mood for, and they come out pretty quick once you order. Very good turnaround. Late night bite to eat? This is the spot, it's always the spot
I really like this place, especially because they're open late and have such good food for those late-night cravings! We got the garlic noodles with bulgogi steak, and it was SO good. The steak was super tender, and the sauce was really flavorful. I also loved the garlic noodles--you could definitely taste the garlic, but it wasn't too overpowering, and everything paired really well together. I also got the Peach Lychee Green Tea, which was really refreshing and went perfectly with the food. Overall, I had a great experience and I'm already excited to come back and try more of the menu. I definitely want to try the crawfish pasta and bánh mì next time!
Came here first and didn't even realize it's connected to PUR Bowls--dangerous (in the best way) because I couldn't say no to dessert after. I ordered the garlic noodle protein bowl with jumbo shrimp, and wow... the aroma alone sold me. Super flavorful, fresh, and cooked perfectly. I got it to go, but it smelled so good I was tempted to dig in right there. Ordering was quick and easy at the register, and my food was ready in about 5-10 minutes. Fast, efficient, and still high quality. Perfect setup for grabbing dinner and then sliding next door for dessert. This is definitely going to be a regular stop for me.
Their rice is not fully cooked. How can an establishment let something so basic go unchecked? Less importantly I wouldve preferred their grilled shrimp unshelled. And their garlic noodles and steak were bland. Lastly, I had to repeat my order (of two items) several times.
Really tasty and good for a late night meal! I ordered a grilled pork banh mi and their egg rolls. The egg rolls were a 10/10 I could eat a whole plate of those! The grilled pork banh mi was solid, nothing over the top. Good tasting pork and I like the spread they use. I personally prefer a stronger pickling on my veg and more spice but overall I was still happy with the sandwich.
When we arrived, we were able to find parking with what limited parking they have. It was around 8:30 pm. Luckily it wasn't busy when we arrived. Upon entering, we notice that it's two establishments and you can easily go to one or the other. The staff happily welcomed us after seeing us. Looking at the menu, everything seemed to peak my interest and prices were relatively affordable compared to other restaurants. We ordered the Crawfish Pasta, Popcorn Chicken, House Marinated Chicken Sandwich, and Cajun Garlic Fries. When ordering, they offered free Parmesan cheese either on top or in the side. They had drink options, and I went with a fountain drink. Crawfish Pasta: Loved that it had crawfish. It tasted pretty good. I do wish they cut up the cilantro smaller length. Overall, still a flavorful dish. House Marinated Chicken Sandwich: Honestly, I didn't expect it to be this big. Luckily we were sharing food. The marinated chicken was packed with flavor and super soft and not dry. As a veggie lover, I loved that it had pickled carrots and daikon radish. Again, would have preferred the cilantro to be cut up a little more. Bread was so soft and fluffy. The green looking sauce that each dish and sides had was also really good. All in all, sandwich was really good. Cajun Garlic Fries: For almost $6, this was quite a lot of fries. There are many places that charge $6 and you don't get that many. Fries were crispy, just enough saltiness and flavor. I really liked the fries, although I didn't notice too much of the garlic flavor. I still enjoyed the fries, especially with that sauce on the side. Popcorn Chicken: The chicken was very soft and moist, and tasted pretty good also. I love the seasoning. However, it wasn't a lot when I compared it to the amount of fries we got. But it's worth a try. I do wish they added more chicken. It was quiet at the beginning and by 10 pm, a lot of people came. It became more lively. When we left, there were a bit of cars emergency lighting. Can't blame them. Food was pretty good. I'd definitely come back.
Good fried chicken and garlic shrimp noodles with Parmesan cheese and special sauce. Nice clean environment inside and outside here. Restroom is nice and clean too. Service is almost like self service because you pick up your food order as they call your number here. Mainly takeout orders for Togo as they are next to hospital. Parking is limited on both sides and no drive through here. A beautiful place for lunch on Saturday by the hospital. Definitely worth the drive here. Price wise it's reasonable and full savory flavors and salty taste buds good with beer for sure. Enjoy the sunshine today.
Nice Vietnamese/Asian Fusion restaurant where you can quickly pick up food, especially if you're visiting the hospitals nearby. * Crawfish Pasta 5/5 - This was like a Cajun seafood pasta with crawfish and sausages. It was really good. * Grilled Pork Bowl 5/5 - The grilled pork was good. Love that they included a sunny-side-up egg on top, plus healthy veggies in the bowl. * Thai Tea 5/5 - Drink with delicious sweetness that spread quickly on your tongue the moment you take a sip.
Food: 7.5/10 Popcorn Chicken- These were mid popcorn chicken. I've had better at boba shops. I do like that they give you the option on how spicy you want your chicken. I chose the spiciest level and they had a kick just like I liked. 7/10 Cajun Fries- The fries are super thin cut which I was not expecting. They're more soggy than they are crunchy. It was okay! 8/10 Garlic Noodle Shrimp: I'm biased because I always feel that garlic noodles never have enough flavor/sauce. This was nothing different. It definitely lacked it but my boyfriend seemed to enjoy it. 10/10 Service: Fantastic. The cashier was super kind and answered all our questions. 8/10 Cost: Garlic Noodle Shrimp- $15.95, Popcorn Chicken- $5.95, Cajun Fries- $5.95. All prices are pre-tax. This spot is priced alright. It's more of a fast casual spot. read more

Nguyen's Kitchen is a modern Vietnamese eatery with multiple locations across Southern California. This location in Orange is next to the CHOC Main Campus and has a small parking lot. Like they advertise, they are "open crazy late" until 2:30am everyday. GRILLED PORK SANDWICH ($10.95) - this was a standard banh mi and the pork was good. 4/5 GARLIC NOODLES ($15.95) - we ordered this with bulgogi steak which was good. The noodles, on the other hand, were not. They were more like spaghetti noodles and we were not fans. We would've much more preferred egg noodles which has more bite and chew. 3/5 CAJUN GARLIC FRIES ($5.95) - there was a decent amount of garlic and seasoning, and I was glad that they were skinny fries. The portions were also good as they almost filled up the platter. 3.5/5 All three of the dishes came with their house spicy green sauce which went well on everything! We also got the peach and lychee green tea ($4.95) which was really tea-forward and refreshing. I surprisingly really enjoyed the drink and would definitely come back to get it again. read more

I like that they are open late and I have never really tried any of the other dishes besides the crawfish pasta before today. For future visits, I think I will stick to the crawfish pasta because I didn't enjoy the beef bowl or the sandwich. Usually gets pretty crowded and the tables are usually dirty because people don't clean up after themselves. read more

Been going here for years and it's been consistent. Good place to get late night eats, especially since they're open till 2am. I usually get a steak sandwich and some garlic noodles with steak. The steak sandwich is banh mi style with the pickled carrots and daikon, cucumber, and cilantro. It's pretty good and hits the spot. The garlic noodles are just standard butter and garlic with the meat. Also a good choice. Highly recommend for late night eats. read more

This isn't a big restaurant, so be aware that parking and indoor seating is limited. Our late night meal was under $75 and included: the NK wings, garlic noodles with grilled pork, garlic noodles with chicken, a bulgogi steak bowl, and two green milk teas. These wings are the perfect addition to a shared meal. They're perfectly crispy without being excessively oily. The sweet shoyu and spicy herby sauces are both delicious additions. The garlic noodles here are quite tasty, but could go heavier on the garlic! The entire meal was satisfying and it's so nice to have a place that opens so late. read more

My bf and I come here every now & then, and every time we visit, we always leave satisfied. Parking: They're located in a small corner plaza with limited parking. You can probably get lucky with a spot because there's constant people coming in n out. Free parking lot. Ambiance/Environment: They have a shared space with Pur Bowls next door. Their side is also small with a decent amount of seating. It accommodates groups of all sizes. It can be a bit tight. Service: The cashier is very courteous, patient, and efficient. Throughput did take a while. We ordered 4 food items, and it took 16 min for us to receive our order. What we ordered: 1) NK Slider Burgers - These sliders were definitely flavorful. The grilled onions and mushrooms were delicious. The beef patties were also cooked well. 2) Cajun Garlic Fries - I paired this with the sliders. I felt there was a bit more garlic than Cajun seasoning. I still enjoyed the fries though I prefer the seasoning to be balanced. 3) Garlic Chicken Breast Sandwich - There was a generous amount of garlic cream sauce. I need to know what they put in this sauce bc it's like crack. The chicken was cooked well, and the baguette had a perfect crunch. 4) Bulgogi Steak Bowl - This was bigger and more filled than we thought. We appreciated the amount of meat. The sauce on the side gave it extra flavor. 5) Peach & Lychee Green Tea - I looove this drink! It's sooo refreshing! The lychee flavor definitely overpowers the peach, but I love lychee so it's okay lol! Pricing: Prices are decent $$ for the amount you get. I'd say it's worth it. Definitely a modern/fusion take on Vietnamese food. We were on the hunt for a banh mi around 9 on a Thursday near Irvine and this popped up. Glad they have such late hours as a lot of the other banh mi places were closed. We got the grilled chicken banh mi. All the flavors inside the sandwich were good. Chicken was well seasoned (love the lemongrass!) and tender. The veggies were plentiful, fresh and had a little crunch. The only let down was the bread. VERY soft and no crust or crunch at all. And they put it in a circular tin for takeaway orders which holds condensation as well. It's counter service so you order at the register, they give you a number and you wait for them to call your name. We waited about 10 minutes and we could see them making the sandwiches fresh. read more

It could have been better. I had high expectations for Nguyen's kitchen because of all the reviews on yelp. But it really didn't live up to the hype. I'm actually quite confused why this place is so popular. For starters, there really aren't many vegetarian friendly options on the menu. They have a garlic noodle dish that is vegetarian friendly. And a shrimp bowl, that you could maybe order without the aheimp. You would then only be getting a bowl with cucumber, carrots and rice. Pretty boring for vegetarians. I've heard that the garlic noodles are extremely garlicky in flavor, so much so that it's overpowering. Since I recently started eating seafood again, I was able to order the shrimp bowl and that was OK. I received about five jumbo shrimps, and had to peel off the shell and legs of each one. I hate having to do that, I don't like having to peel off the shell and get my fingers all dirty. I'd much rather the shrimp already be de-shelled and put in the bowl. The cucumber, carrots and rice were all fresh. But overall, it just was a kind of boring dish and it's not something that I would crave or want again. My fiancé ordered the skuders and Bulgogi sandwich. He said both were just sort of OK. Nothing to rave over and really nothing blew our socks off. This place was super mediocre. read more

Do yourself a favor and skip this place! My sister and I split a beef garlic noodle bowl for $17. We decided to eat in because we were stopping before we had other errands. This place is a pigsty. The tables were filthy. We had to clean our own table with hand sanitizer, and after wiping the table, the napkins were covered in dirt and grime. Also, do not use their restroom! I have seen truck stops and gas station bathrooms in TJ that are cleaner than this place. I don't know how they bamboozled everybody into getting as many reviews and stars as they did but don't go here. read more

I drive all the way from Corona off of Green River to come here and eat the sliders that they make here with mushrooms and grilled onions and a drink their coffee. This place is amazing and everything is so fresh, something I would expect from a restaurant not a little spot like this. The shrimp was fresh the chicken juicy, the beef tender and the bread for the Bahmi sandwiches fresh and crusty. Everything was perfect, came in with a party of 15 and everything came out at a reasonable time. Staff was friendly and the whole experience was perfect. I love that the whole restaurant was clean including the restrooms. So many times you come to a place and the tables are sticky, but not here. We got the steak bulgogi sandwich which was amazing! But I'm writing this review to comment on the awesome staff! We have been at the hospital next door and decided to grab a late bite hear. Typically customer service at any restaurant late at night is typically met with fatigue and callous. But the lady behind the register and the dude behind the grill were nothing but smiles and sincere attentiveness. Best garlic noodles I've had! Buttery and rich and toothsome and most important, very garlicky! I got them with jumbo shrimp which were cooked just right and plenty garlicky by themselves. The beverage selection is curated down to a very few selections but I'm here to tell you, the green milk tea is perfection. Hubby got crawfish noodles and loved it. Easy parking in the lot. read more

Oh its interesting how I've never written a review here even though I've stopped by numerous times. I've had all their drinks including the iced coffee, milk tea, Thai tea, and peach and lychee. My favorite is the peach and lychee and the iced coffee here is the closest thing ill get to vietnamese coffee in the area. It's passble. In terms of food I've had their garlic fries and shrimp garlic noodles, both were good. A hack I've learned recently is to ask for no ice in my drinks and just get a water cup with ice and pour it out as I drink, then when I am ready to leave I just fill the drink with ice and it feels like I got a new drink. LOL. I also ask for pickled carrots on the side and they give me a good portion to enjoy with my food so I like that. 4.5 stars but since I've never had a bad experience here I will give them a 5. read more

The food is good if you like oily food with butter. It's not my favorite as I prefer cleaner food and not a big fan of sauce. They do give a lot of food and are really friendly. They answer any questions you have and give the food quick. The inside is combined with an acai place. The parking lot is a bit small. Whenever I'm scoping out a new restaurant to try, I always run through Yelp to back it up. With the amount of reviews this spot has, I wanted to see what the hype was all about. I came here for lunch on a Saturday and it was empty. I ordered the garlic noodles with grilled pork and it came out to be around $16. The food took maybe 5 minutes and I dined in. I was expecting the portion to be a little bit more just because the price is on the higher side for some noodles. However, I did enjoy the grilled pork and the little side sauce that came with the noodles. I wouldn't say I was blown away by any means, and don't see myself returning for overpriced modern Viet food. read more

This is a go-to for me & my group of friends whenever we're in SoCal for Disneyland. They're open late night so it's a great place for a "midnight snack" after the parks close. Boyfriend and I stopped to try another local spot. We shared the cajan fries, the bulgogi bowl, and the house chicken sandwich. I also got the peach and lychee green tea. My boyfriend and I both preferred the bulgogi bowl! All of it was delicious though, and the portions seemed big. The sauce that came with the meals had a kick but was so addicting. I couldn't help but take it with me for my leftovers. Service was quick, and we got our food pretty fast too. TL;DR - late night munchies, variety of asian/vietnamese cuisine. I can't believe how long this place has been on my "must try" list before I actually tried it! The family wanted noodles, so we took the opportunity to stop here to get a noodle bowl and a rice bowl. We ordered the bulgogi garlic noodle bowl and the grilled pork rice bowl, an order of egg rolls, and a Thai tea. Service was fine; the guy taking our order was nice but he had to get help with a question we had about the green tea. Not a problem though; I always appreciate "let me find out" rather than "I don't know". So good service! There were a handful of booth seats inside, a couple 2-top seats, and one table that seats I think 8 people. We had no trouble finding a place to sit. The food was cooked fresh to order, and everything was so delicious! We were so hungry I forgot to grab pictures except one of the menu so I could check in. The garlic noodles were perfect, not too strong and tasted fresh. The beef was well seasoned and tender. The grilled pork was also delicious! It came with a little lettuce and some shaved carrot and daikon, and sliced cucumber. The green sauce was tasty but I didn't want to make my food spicy since I was sharing with my daughter. Eggrolls were good and crispy, and the sauce they came with was great! It was about $5 for 2 egg rolls. The Thai tea was sweet and refreshing on a hot day! I really enjoyed it. Everything was great and I'm sure this will become a new favorite lunch spot! read more

This place is listed today as having outdoor seating. Is it still available? If it is, is it covered or heated? How many people can sit there? / April 25, 2023
It looked like 3 small tables with seating for 2 per each table. It's on the side of the building where you first drive in to park from the main st. side and it did have shade from the building roof but it was not fully covered. July 3, 2023
I'm trying to order Grilled Pork Noodles in door dash but it's not showing. But when I try to order here in Yelp it does show. Did you guys stop selling it in door dash? I have credits there thats why I want to use it

I went on New Year's Eve at 1am (my son was in NICU at Choc and I was starving) and they were still very open so with that being said they are open late. I believe 2-230am!

Hi Jen, we haven't start indoor dining yet but we do have patio seatings available.

The noodle dish portions are fat, not small by any means. The crawfish pasta specifically has a lot of meat between the crawfish and sausage.

Are there any vegetarian options available, e.g. tofu?
Noodles contain eggs as an ingredient. Consider that. Isn't there a menu you can look up on this page? Or just wanted to point out the lack of vegetarian options? I think there was one item with no meat in there.
