Oh wow - I absolutely wasn't expecting such a scrumptious burger - I've had plenty of vegan/vegetarian burgers in my time, but they all mostly felt like some amalgamation of mushy veggies scrunched together with a handful of breadcrumbs. This experience was very different in the best way - I ordered the signature burger - and it was perfect. The buns were nice and toasty, the patty was made of organic mushrooms and quinoa, there was an option of cheeses (pepper Jack all the way), and it was all slathered in a gorgeous roasted garlic thyme Mayo. I oh so generously shared 1/3 with my vegan sister who also loved the burger. The only reason I docked a star was because the shake was a bit disappointing - it wasn't even the fact that it was made of non-dairy milk, it was more so the many, many tiny bits of chocolate that made drinking my shake a somewhat unpleasant experience. I dined here with my Hubby recently. I ordered the "chicken sandwich" with air fried tots and he ordered the regular burger with "American cheese" and tots. The flavor of the chicken sandwich was good but the patty is a little light for me I think I prefer a heartier patty to keep me satisfied. But it was a great sandwich. The regular tot serving size is more than enough to keep you full. My hubby had the regular burger with everything on it, he finished his tots. To be honest I did not know that this was a burger spot. I always thought it was a gym or something because of "Next Level" signage outside the building. Lol anyways, it is located inside whole foods. They also have their own entrance door on the far right side of the building. Its a small burger joint, so there is limited seating. Even though I am not vegan, I love trying out different type of food. I came here today for the yelp elite week. YAY!!! I was given their signature burger and a small milk shake (I got the cookies n' cream). I also ordered the chicken tenders and tots for my kids. The signature burger patty is made out of umami mushroom and quinoa. It was good but I gotta say its not the best vegan burger I've had. But I enjoyed the milk shake, it was thick and creamy. cookies n cream hands down the best milkshake flavor. My son enjoyed the tots. It was topped with their secret house made organic seasoning, and surprisingly really flavorful. The chicken tender really tasted like chicken. This place is definitely overhyped. I'm not a vegan, but it's never a bad thing to be vegan curious. I've been meaning to come here for a looong time. I have to admit, the real reason why I came here was because I had a coupon for a free milkshake that I had been holding onto for months. Finally decided to put it to use, but this place was a let down for me. The store is actually located inside of Whole Foods in the Veranda. The inside portion is small, but they have a really cute patio. This was my first time ever having any kind of Vegan patty, and I was recommended to try the beyond burger since the consistency is supposed to mirror that of a real burger patty. I got the beyond burger, sweet potato fries, and a cookies n' cream milkshake. Let's talk price points here: this place is expensive. I understand that it's vegan and it probably takes more time and energy to prepare, but had I not used the coupon for a free milkshake, my meal would have costed me almost $25 after tax and tip. That's even too expensive for a regular burger, fries, and milkshake. What makes it worse is that the overall quality was not up to par with the price tag. The burger looked pretty good, but as soon as I bit into it, the patty started to disintegrate. This caused the bread to get soggy and everything started to fall apart. The veggies tasted fresh, but the cheese was hard and almost stale looking and tasting. Because of this, I couldn't really even taste the cheese. As a matter of fact, the whole burger lacked any type of decent flavor. Very disappointing. They give you a lot of milkshake. They gave me a full glass plus what was left in the tin. The milkshake was okay, but it tasted more like coconut than it did cookies n' cream. The coconut milk overpowered the taste. I only went with coconut milk because they didn't have any other option aside from soy milk and I don't like soy milk. I thought that maybe they would have at least had almond milk, but that wasn't the case. The only thing that I enjoyed were the sweet potato fries. Now. THOSE were scrumptious. So FYI just a heads up the NLB is actually located inside the whole foods, they have a separate door on the outside but they are connected fully with the store. Not too sure if it was just a busy day or everyone getting their grub on here but it was quite busy when I arrived about an hour till closing. Staff was super friendly and helpful when I ordered. Reception was super bad that I was unable to see more than the names of restaurants and Next Level Burger came up. I haven't had Next Level Burger before and a burger sounded pretty good, and I thought the place should have extremely delicious burgers based on the name. The husband's reception was a bit better so he was able to order online. He read some menu items to me and I decided to go with their spicy chicken. We got chicken tenders for the kids and the husband got that burger with multiple patties. We picked up the food and got home and I opened the containers. The chicken tenders were shaped extremely identical and the chicken patty looked very flat on the surface. Then I realized these chicken tenders and patties were not real chicken! WHOOPS. Anyways, my "chicken" burger wasn't bad. It had some decent flavors and the texture didn't bother me. It wasn't totally next level on flavor for me though. The kids, unfortunately, did not enjoy their tenders! They didn't know it was plant-based chicken, and they tried it. They didn't want more than a bite, but we didn't want food to go to taste so we had them take a couple more bites. I came here for their Yelp Elite Week event and was given their signature burger and a small shake. I asked for the burger to be in a lettuce wrap and they had no problem doing that for me. For the shake, I got the vanilla with soy. You can have your milkshake made with soy, coconut, or mix of both. The quinoa and mushroom patty was savory and flavorful. The milkshake was thick and creamy but it was overly sweet for me - (their other flavors might be better.) I came during off lunch hours so it was not busy at all. M E N U We took our time looking at the menu as we wanted to get to as close to $20 as I had a gift card to use, and also the reason why we even passed by this place. It's basically vegan so for you vegans out there, you may love this place. They have their "meaty" burgers as well as their grain based burgers. They have salads as well as hot dogs and sides. We ended up getting an All-American burger, Side Cobb Salad, and a small sized sweet potato fries. All American burger was fairly standard in terms of vegetarian "beef" patty. We got the special sauce which is their take on a thousand island but it pretty much overpowers everything. We had the smoked gouda on there, but I actually couldn't even recollect even tasting it. The patty itself was okay. I wasn't wowed and at which point, I was kind of wishing we got the quinoa mushroom patty instead in a different burger. Sweet potato fries were nice and crispy though the sauce was again too spiced to my liking and I ended up using the honey mustard dressing from the salad. The Cobb salad was pretty to look at but the container was not suitable to be able to eat from initially as it's super hard not to toss all the ingredients from the bowl as you're taking your first bite. The "chicken" was okay, the vegan bacon more like a jerky with again...spiced to all heavens. As a side salad, it's nicely sized. I like balance in flavors and textures in my food and sometimes it's a shame that a lot of vegan food leans on putting a bunch of spices on their food as a crutch to deter you from what you're eating. The food is better and more flavorful than places like VeggieGrill or any other vegan chains. The front counter had a two selforder kiosk which I didn't use but the two people who did spent over ten minutes ordering meaning that the kiosk must have not been so intuitive. I also ordered a fish"-less" and chip basket, chili, and a chicken nugget kiddos meal to try their chicken. Overall, I would describe the taste of the food as what "socialism" would taste like. Overpriced at 12 to 14 bucks a burger, no fountain drinks, no fries included, looks decent, small portion, but horrible in taste. Promotes being organic and vegetarian, but I've had much better vegetarian burgers at half the price. Chili- bitter, no taste. Would it hurt to use chili powder, herbs, and tomatoes that actually have taste to it? The "happy" kiddo meal would make kids cry. The chick'in nuggets tasted like plain fried tofu nuggets unsalted and unflavored, fries- regular crinkle cut fries, does it hurt to season it with some plain old salt? Fried Fish-less tastes like shrimp chip and I've have vegan fried fish that tasted more like fish elsewhere. Finally, the gobbler was suppose to be a representation of Thanksgiving in a burger with a fried meatless chicken patty, masked potato, gravy, cranberry sauce. Very interesting concept but have you ever bit into a burger topped with mash potatoes and carbs? The chicken patty extremely thin to the point where I would slack my credit cards next to it and the patty would be thinner. We literally drove over an hour one way just to try this place and I'm not even mad. We made a resolution to become Vegetarian this year and we are doing so well but we definitely get tired of not having a lot of food options so when I saw that this place existed we had to try it! I ordered a regular mint chocolate chip shake with organic soy milk, bacon shroom fries but substituted tater tots for fries (because I really wanted to try the extra crispy tots but when I saw this I changed my mind) and the maverick "burger". I got it to go -because covid- and devoured it in the car. First things first, you should know that for my order of a regular shake, burger and tots I paid $35 before tip. I expect food at a place like this to cost more than a normal meal, but I think that 3X's more is a bit excessive so I have to take a half star off for that. Second, the paper straw in my shake didn't make it, but I just took the top off and chugged :) I appreciate their dedication to the environment though. Third, I could not eat the tots. The toppings were just too much. The melted Provolone cheese substitute and/or ranch dressing they used was so sweet and overwhelming that I could not finish them. I have to take a half star off for that too, because I tried giving them to my husband who will eat anything and he couldn't finish them either I will definitely be trying the extra crispy tots next time. Lastly, the burger was just amazing! Delicious! By far the best vegetarian burger we have tried! I was SO awesome to have a burger and not feel like it was a "vegan burger". I've been to this location at least seven times. On my first visit, I was overwhelmed with what to choose. The remarkable person behind the counter answered every question with a smile and very professionally. She knew the menu perfectly and clarified the toppings and selections. I chose the classic cheeseburger with tater tots on the side and a vanilla shake. The burger was very delicious, and the tater tots were equally good. But the star of the show was the vanilla shake which was so incredibly delicious! Since my first visit, I have tried different burgers, nuggets, a few chicken sandwiches, and a salad, and all were tasty. The price is a little high, but honestly, knowing that I'm not eating animal flesh or secretions makes it worth it t me. Very nice! Stopped by with my wife as we're always interested in new veggie options. Limited seating in the immediate area, although out in the main Whole Foods and outside of it there are many more tables and chairs. Super friendly person at the register who made us feel welcome. I ordered the All American burger and my wife got the BLT (and avocado). Ordered one of their fancy shakes (right column) - mint chocolate chip. We went for coconut "ice cream" instead of soy. The shake was the bomb. Both my wife and I thought it was ice cream at first, until I remembered - nope - not dairy. One difference is I think it's actually colder than normal ice cream, with more tiny ice crystals. Thinking this is the case because my throat froze at the start (delicious but don't be greedy!) The burger didn't taste exactly like a meat burger or exactly like a beyond burger but it tasted good. Just a bit different. The "bacon" wasn't crispy like real bacon but did have a bit of chew. Bottom line on both mine and my wife's was we were pleased and definitely marked this place down as "well worth returning to". What would make it a 5? A few more options beyond burgers and hot dogs. Maybe a delicious veggie soup? A nice dhal? Oh, and to address the "it's too expensive" that I saw from some Yelp reviews. I don't agree. Just compare it to its direct competitors - Veggie Grill and the like. The prices here aren't anything I found concerning. More than a traditional, industrial cow factory sourced burger - sure. The to go containers for a $14 entree salad are too small for the price point. I think you've gotta be insanely good to charge that much. Especially since now you can easily buy good vegan cheese, patties, etc (all the same ingredients they use) in the store or at other restaurants. Same with the vegan salad dressings. Ultimately will you pay $6 for a kombucha when they are attached to WF365 and you can go grab one there. I get they have some additional flavors or brands, but it's too much. I asked the cashier what the most popular (non Animal burger) he recommended and it was the Signature. Ordered it with cheddar, small crinkle cut fries, and a seasonal strawberry shake. The text feature is so convenient. I loved how I could grab a few items at the adjoining mini Whole Foods and make it through the checkout line just in time to grab my order. The burger was good, but not rave-worthy. The ingredients were definitely quality, though. No iceburg lettuce over here. The crinkle cut fries were bathed in salt, which was disappointing. Don't think I'd waste my money on those again. But that strawberry shake with the coconut base? Divine. I'm in agreement with others who think that Next Level is better than Amy's, but the prices here are stupid ridiculous. The vegan movement has made leaps & bounds since we each became vegan a long, long time ago. When I first went vegan I lived on boca vegan veggie burgers on Ezikel bread w/ baked potatoes. I didn't know how to boil water & became a self taught cook thanks to devouring the vegan cookbooks at my local library. I eventually worked w/ raw food chef Ani Phyo in Portland, OR at Smart Monkey Raw Foods, was the in house vegan chef once a week at a Buddhist community that I lived at, & cooked at an award winning mostly vegan vegetarian restaurant in Boulder, CO. Fast forward many moons later to 2018 in the East Bay. Me & my vegan friend went to Next Level Burger for lunch recently. Kudos for having all organic produce, being Non-GMO, & having all the plastic silverware being completely compostable. As we went to order our server said everything we serve is 100 percent plant based. We decided to split the Animal. Sure it is a novelty yet it isn't every day that you can experience a 1,230 Calorie vegan veggie burger as it sounds like an oxymoron. The Animal comes w/ double juicy sausage style patties topped w/ smokey tempeh bacon, a layer of crinkle cut french fries, sautéed onion, cheddar or Swiss style cheese, & special sauce. I have a hearty appetite yet still am glad to have split this w/ my friend as would be tough to finish alone. The tempeh bacon was exceptional. We also had the baked tots & were quite satisfying. I thought they were just fine baked yet come fried as well. We also split a cookies & cream hand spun soy shake yet the shakes also come in coconut soft serve ice cream as well. Upon request they will split the shakes into two smaller cups if you are splitting w/ a friend. Would be nice if they offered an even smaller size shake for my friend who has a smaller appetite as there is only one size shake on offer. Tip generously as the staff works hard & will bus your trays afterward. Awesome that everything is compostable. The staff also brings the food to your seat. Seating could be better. There are nicer seats outside yet the seats inside are a bit smaller yet just fine. The best thing about Next Level Burger is how much choice there is for a vegan in 2018. There are 11 different types of burgers to choose from that can be customized w/ 10 different extra toppings. There are two different sandwiches. Two different salads. For fries there are crinkles, tots, & sweet potato fries that can be baked or fried along w/ topped w/ four toppings. There are four different Kids Meals served w/ baked fries & organic grape juice. There are two Hot Dogs. Sides include 3 bean chili, salad, & sautéed kale. Shakes are either soy or coconut made w/ a dozen choices. Will be interesting to see how Next Level Burger evolves over time as this is a hard place not to love. I look forward to subsequent visits here as my friend mentioned the entree salads look innovative. read more

I've been here a couple times now and whew if I lived in the area I'd be a regular here, it's definitely my go to spot when I'm here. Vegan, organic ingredients - and so good! They have decent menu with a lot to choose from! Specialty burgers, fries and shakes. Side note, during covid times no out door seating available at location. I really like this place! It's attached next to Whole Foods which makes it convenient if you want to shop and grab a good meal before or after! Service is really great here! The cashier was really nice and helpful and she had great energy! Manager will very nice as well, super attentive. Food is good! I've had a few things here and the burgers are my favorite. This last time I got the Kraut Dog which was a little to sour for my liking (should've know better as there's sour kraut on it, haha) but regardless great food for something fast! Basically this place is like a all plant based fast food but healthier and tasty! They also have vegan milkshakes! It's great for vegan and non vegan eaters alike. Next level burger is awesome! Seriously a fully vegan spot with burgers AAAAND milkshakes?! Heck yeah! If you like to live life on the wild side definitely give The Animal a try! I wish I could recommend next level burger, but I can't. This last visit took a long while to get our order, and was missing a large fry. The fry's were also not the crinkle cut I have had before, and were not freshly fried and quite cold The herb mayo had a small sharp plastic bit in it from a bottle cap or something. The chikin burger is good but the bacon was room temp, but not worth it. everything else is mediocre, sorry. Hope I have a better experience next time :( read more
