very long overdue review :,) this place is amazing!!! extremely delicious vegan i've been here a few times with my meat eating bf and he loves it too! today he ordered the buffalo chikn burger, fries, and the organic peanut butter cup milkshake with coconut milk. i got the american chzburger and the organic mint chocolate chip shake with soy. everything was soooo good!! i love that the burger i got has tempe bacon. the charred taste is so reminiscent of real meat -- it's amazing. i haven't ate meat in 12 years but this is seriously the closest i've ever gotten to the taste and my bf agrees! also good to note that this vegan food has a lot of protein. they even have a 58g protein burger called "the animal." ^_^ definitely get the fries. they're always delicious and perfectly cooked. they make their milkshakes with either soy or coconut milk. i like soy more because the coconut is strong. highly recommend checking out this vegan spot! read more

I've been obsessed with next level burger for many years ever since I first tried it while I lived in Oregon. I was lucky enough to attend the grand opening of the Denver location which I loved! I only recently found out that there were some locations in the Bay Area and today I was finally able to visit the concord location. This NLB is attached to a Whole Foods which is so perfect. It has a little self order kiosk which makes ordering so simple. Although it's small, there is lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The water station had delicious fresh iced water, everything was clean and staff in the back were very nice and asked if I needed help despite the kiosk which I appreciated. I ordered the classic burger and my favorite shake: coconut based cookies and cream. It was just as amazing as I remembered. I can't believe it's been nearly a year since my last fix... I'm already planning my next visit (maybe to the SF one next!). I am mostly plant based so I really love the concept of this restaurant! It's 100% plant based- every single thing here is vegan. I've brought many meat eaters here who all love it as well. The ingredients are always fresh and amazing and I never feel sick afterwards, regardless of how much I eat. I love the burgers and fries but the milkshakes are the best part in my opinion. I always get the coconut based and it doesn't have an overpowering coconut flavor. Every shake I've tried has been mouthwatering, but the peanut butter and cookies and cream are my favorite. I did notice my paper straw was getting soggy towards the end of my shake today so my only recommendation would be to find a different type of compostable straw. It didn't detour me in the least from guzzling the whole thing though. I would highly recommend NLB especially if you're plant based! It will become your new favorite place. read more

Our family loves Next Level Burger. We have been coming here since before I stopped eating meat and cooking meat at home. My daughter loves the chicken nuggets. I love the chicken burgers. The cookies are amazing. Service is always friendly. Would say the fries aren't crispy, so we skip the fries and instead order the onion rings. April 10, 2025 The staff was very friendly and the dining area was clean. The ol lady and I shared a dine-in Sunshine burger, a chili fries and a coke. It was hilarious when the burger was brought to the table. I freaked out because of the raw side up egg on top of the meat. "That is not ours!" I exclaimed. "I hate raw eggs". Then I looked at the menu picture and sadly read that I had ordered it. In the menu picture the egg is hidden by bread. "I'll just remove the egg" I said sadly to the wait staff. "It's a vegan egg" the woman said with a nice smile and a twinkle of humor in her eye. I chuckled at myself as I gobbled my half of the sandwich and most of the fries. Very tasty and everything was served hot. The look, taste and texture was very much like a meal with meat. I was pleasantly surprised and left feeling as if my appetite was at least as sated as if I had eaten a double double cheeseburger and fries at In-N-Out. The negatives The condiments were put on way too thick and I'd have preferred to put them on myself. With the pile of condiments and the egg yoke I had quite a hard to handle sauce sandwich. The price was about 2.5 times more than that meal of a double and a single burger and fries the old lady and I usually share at In-N-Out. I'm afraid we likely will not be coming back only for this price point. If the price was equivalent to meat I would choose Next Level quite often.. read more

First the shakes here are so wonderfully good! We get a mix of coconut and soy soft serve . Of course we ask for added whipped cream. We add toppings and syrups and we love all of them. Ask for the seasonal new options when you go in. Sit outside with your pets and enjoy the fires hot, w the yummy ketchup. I think I've tried all the burgers here and my new favorite is the spicy chickn burger! It's so good! My fam and friends all agree even if they aren't fully vegan, this is the spot! First of all I thought this was Super Duper burger. The color scheme and location was almost the same. Second of all I had absolutely no clue that this place was 100% vegan . No beef. They really don't advertise as such . I used the touch screen kiosk. The pics the interface I had the assumption this was a legit beef burger place. I chose the cheeseburger tater tots with a couple of sauces ghost pepper ranch and regular ranch . The shakes page was very confusing all were organic and the options were coconut or soy based. I have no clue what this means I had to ask. The end result was not to my liking . I ordered cookie dough chocolate shake. It didn't taste like a normal shake at all and I understand the healthy business model. The burger was average I had a n impossible burger before and they just aren't the same as beef and this one had no aroma it looked like a real cheeseburger but it wasn't satisfying. I felt like I was tricked when I came here. Just remember this place doesn't have real meat. Don't make the same mistake it did thinking I was getting a real beef burger meal. For all the vegetarians there is a reason why by this place has been open for so long it's because of your guys demand of vegan and gluten free food. We grabbed a quick meal while out for groceries for our NYE party :D Can place your order on the kiosk or with staff. The entire menu is plant-based, including the shakes. Staff are warm and welcoming :-) CHICK'N BACON RANCH BURGER: Soft bun + fresh veg + hearty chicken substitute! Very filling. The chicken could be crispier/firmer, but I think it just comes with the territory of veggie meat. CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE DOUGH SHAKE (soy, no whipped cream): THICCC. They even give a boba straw. You'll have to wait for it to melt a bit before even thinking about drinking more. I think this could pass the DQ flip check... For flavor, the soy is noticeable, but doesn't overpower the sweet cookie dough. My bf and I loved this. The premises are actually kept pretty clean! I got the crispy chik'n burger and yes it was crispy! I also got the strawberry shake. Both were delicious! I added American cheese and jalapeños but I think the burger would have been fine without the additions. Great customer service and they have a list of possible allergens. I am happy to report that we visited Next Level Burger after recently moving back and it is still delicious after all these years. It is incredibly hard to find even decent vegetarian food, especially healthy, with protein, fast, or affordable. Next Level Burger does the unthinkable and combines all of these. I wish the company didn't close Veggie Grill, another vegetarian fast food spot in Walnut Creek, as it was one of my only other healthy veggie protein options. It has been heavily missed. The menu here is pretty much burgers, shakes and fries, but they are all done very well. There are options of different vegetarian patties for your burger, different sauces, and additions of tempeh bacon and condiments to customize for your perfect burger. Specializing in vegetarian burgers, it's refreshing to have fake meat that isn't overcooked and dried out. The employees have also been kind upon both visits, and the ordering kiosk was convenient and helpful. Our last visit my addition of bacon was missed, but otherwise we have received no less than great vegetarian food. We have already been back, and will continue to do so! read more

Our group of ten met here for a Friendsgiving lunch. Everyone enjoyed their vegan burgers, chicken sandwiches, and fries, they were all hits. For a group of 10 to rave about the food is a sure sign they are doing something right. I had the classic burger; it is a mashed patty with organic dill pickles, tomato, lettuce, and a choice of sauces. I could not make up my mind what sauce I wanted. They happily let me have two; I had the special sauce and the chipotle mayo. I also ordered a milkshake I normally don't drink these but I wanted to try one. Again, I could not make up my mind so they put two different flavors in my cup, the organic orange cream and organic vanilla. The burger was so good I like the texture and the fact that it was salted. The bun was great. When a piece of the burger fell on the plate I tasted it and realized it was better on the bun. I enjoyed the vegan burger as much as the burger I had later in the week. I seldom finish my meal. this time there was nothing left on the plate or in my cup. Would gladly upgrade my review to four stars due to well improved customer service, management follow ups and pleasant atmosphere. Although some recipes would need a little tuneup, the others are perfectly matched. The Maverick Burger is a bit dry and has two much of the BBQ sauce that kills the taste of patty and even onion ring. Beyond animal Burger on the other hand is nicely combined to please your burger needs and more. Top it off with a special style fries and coconut peanut shake aaaaand you got yourself enough calories to last through the week. We called in our order in hopes of limiting our time inside of the store. That was sort of a hit and miss kind of situation as we ended up waiting roughly 15 minutes to several people being there ordering food ahead of us as we walked in. The staff was friendly and greeted us as we walked up and did give us a heads up that it would take some time. We ordered the signature burger, Buffalo chickn sandwich and a single patty cheeseburger. Everyone was happy with their burgers, and the accompaniments that went with them. We got tater tots, sweet potato fries and cluckin fries and cluckin nuggets. They were all tasty. The tater tots were my favorite. We also ordered shakes - the machine had run out of soy I believe so it did take some extra time for the shakes to come out but they were tasty. We got vanilla, chocolate, and a speciality shake. The only thing I didn't like was the paper straw, it got hard to use so I ended up grabbing a spoon and eating the shake like ice cream. Overall it was a really nice experience with good food. I was so excited to try this vegan and organic burger spot that opened inside of Whole Foods (the restaurant also has its own entrance which takes you straight to their order counter). It was very hard to choose what to order as a first-timer, they have so many options! Their burger menu is insane, I'm going to have to come back to try their other burgers to decide on my favorites. I ordered the Red Hot Chik'n burger and the crispy Chik'n tenders and a side of their special sauce. I love spicy and this seemingly Nashville Hot Chicken inspired burger caught my taste buds. OMG it hit the spot! The coleslaw gave it a great crunch and the pickles with the soft bun all tasted amazing together in my mouth. It was a little smaller than I expected, but other than that it was delicious and their Chik'n patty tasted amazing and crunchy. It was hard to tell I wasn't eating real meat. As for the Chik'n tenders, they were also very crispy and tasty, didn't even taste like vegan meat, however they were also smaller in size than what I would have liked, and they were thinner than what one would expect from a chicken nugget but still very tasty especially with their special sauce. The employees here were a little rude and some were on their phones while we were trying to ask what was good. There is no inside seating because they only are in a small part of whole foods, but they do have outdoor seating. To be honest, when you look at the restaurant from the outside, they looked closed even though they are open. The burger here was decent, but a little overcooked that it was dry. We also ordered the tater tots which were pretty good. I also ordered the farmhouse caesar salad, subbed the baby kale with romaine lettuce, and the dressing on the side. I was honestly a little disappointed with this because the romaine lettuce didn't seem fresh, the avocado just looked like it was "plopped" on it with no care in the world. Would I come back here? One member of the family now eats vegetarian/vegan food so this was perfect. So we got the classic burger, the beyond meat, and grilled cheese sandwich for the kid. We also ordered the tater tots and fries. And some shakes, mint chocolate chips, peanut butter chocolates chips and a regular chocolate shake. The beyond burger had good flavor but it seemed to be a little under cooked. But nothing that a microwave can't fix. The classic burger was made with quinoa, it was good, it had a little kick to it but it became very messy because it was a little on the soft side but still good. The grilled cheese was interesting looking-it was two burger buns flipped with cheese inserted in between never seen it done that way. The shakes were awesome! You can get it made with soy or coconut based, it was delish! Our server Roxanne was very friendly. We ordered food for pick up so it was ready once we got there. Nice and hot. Note: the menu might need a little update. I mentioned we ordered on the phone and we tried to order spicy tater-tots and salted caramel shake they said those weren't on the menu. If you're looking for a vegan and gluten free fast food joint, this is the place to go! It's a little pricy but it's very accommodating and tastes as close to a fast food burger joint that you can get for being vegan and gluten free. My sister in law got one of the specialty burgers, I got the signature burger, side of fries, my nephew for the fish sticks, and we got a strawberry shake and orange shake which I really enjoyed! The shakes are soo good! If you like coconut or coco cane shakes they are very similar. They're either coconut or soy based, I got my orange shake with coconut. As for the burger, for those that have restrictions it's pretty good, for the meat eaters it's definitely different but the cheese and sauces to me tasted as if they weren't gluten free or vegan which can be a plus to some people. We had some issues ordering over the phone via the app and was only able to order the burgers so I ordered the fries and shakes separately and it took a little while to be ready. There's no indoor seating and the workers were pretty friendly. If you have vegan/vegetarian or gluten free friends and want to get a bite to eat, this is a great place to check out. You can eat first and shop for groceries later - we all should! LOL The place is small in size, but offers indoor and outdoor options. This was our first time trying this place. We did not realize it was located a Whole Foods, which is okay, just alittle confusing to find. It was raining, so we could not eat outside and the indoor seating is very awkward. We ordered ahead, to save time and when we arrived the person who was at the front, seemed busy, yet only one other customer was there. Once we finally got our food, our sodas were so overfilled, they were spilling everywhere. It got all over and we had to ask for napkins. We were only given a few and it barely cleaned it up. Once we finally sat down, it was dirty. I ended up just using the bag to be a barrier to the table. My husband ordered from the "February Limited Time" option, a Sliced Steak sandwich. He paired it with the Pubchz fries. He said it was pretty good, just the sandwich was not very big for the price. I ordered the Chikn Bacon Ranch Burger and fries. I was not impressed at all. I gotta admit- this was a pretty good meal and it was all made from plants! After a hike at Lafayette Reservoir, my fiancé Ryan and I ended up at Whole Foods in Concord. We saw that there was a plant-based eatery called Next Level Burger connected to it with decent Yelp reviews. My fiancé Ryan is vegan and was stoked that everything was plant-based and environmentally friendly. He got the Maverick ($12.95), which is similar to a bbq bacon burger from the go big menu, and I got the Chik'n bacon ranch burger ($10.95) with a small organic crinkle cut fries ($3.50). Prices aren't that cheap but quality items usually aren't. Food came out after 10 min and since there was no outdoor dining, we ate our meal sitting on the curb in the parking lot. My meal was tasty- fries were hot, crispy and well-seasoned (you can taste smoked paprika) and my chik'n burger was freshly made and tasted close to the real deal. It wasn't too salty like other vegan meats I had tried in the past. Ryan liked his so much he forgot to give me a bite! To be fair, he probably could have eaten 2 or 3 more of them. I wouldn't mind trying the other menu items, especially the beyond burger and fish-less sandwich. Highly recommend for all the vegan or vegan-curious souls out there! read more

The Next Level To Health! I've always been skeptical when it comes to plant based meat in general because of the bad experience from the past. I've tried to eat healthy by trying pre-packaged plant based sausage and hamburger patties. But none of them satisfy my appetite nor my palate. They are mostly dry and bland. Until today. I checked out the Next Level Burger to try out their Signature Burger with cheese and avocado with a side order of Coconut Peanut Butter milkshake. I must say, this signature organic plant based burger was flavorful and tasty. For each bite I was waiting to be disappointed but never happened. It wasn't dry, bland or crumbly. The texture was consistenly soft and flavorful. I can definitely eat this burger on a regular basis. But can't wait to try the other items on the menu. As for the milkshake, I think I found  a new favorite. I love Coconut and I love peanut butter cup, but I didn't know that these two can mingle in a single cup. It was made thick so I had to use the straw as a spoon to enjoy it. Definitely a must try milkshake. Can't wait for my next visit.
