I visited here while in town. This was not the best burger, it wasn't the worst either. It was just run of the mill to me. The, what I suspect is the owner, was nice when taking my order. I tried to order the rodeo burger as there was a picture with barbecue sauce and onion, bacon, etc. just like any other normal rodeo burger. then he asked me if I wanted the lettuce, tomato onion, mustard mayonnaise on the burger as well because that's how it comes despite the picture not having any of that. I said I just want it like the picture...so I just went with a normal cheeseburger instead because it was getting confusing. The fries were good and made to order, so they were crisp and hot. I don't do veggies lol) but even with just Mayo it was a phenomenal burger. Everything made fresh to order. Fries were piping hot!! Great with ranch. The guy working the counter was awesome. This little joint, honestly reminds me of SoCal in the summer just wanting a charbroil burger. If you constantly go down to Anaheim or Santa Ana area, you know what I mean when I say this. There's not that many places like this in Northern California because everyone's at the main burger corporation spots. The service here was spot on and they were super patient with us on what we wanted, only because it was our first time there. I got the mushroom burger with all the basic toppings on it and I will say, that they cooked this burger exactly how I would eat it, if I were to make it at home. You do have to order the fries and onion rings on the side, but they do offer specials that come with fries or onion rings, but I wanted to actually try one of the burgers on the menu and it did not disappoint at all. I honestly murdered my burger within seconds once I took a bite - LOL. Yes call me hungry! Fries were cooked perfectly and the onion rings come with ranch. The owners (I assume they were the owners) were welcoming. I ordered a Best Burger that has pastrami in it. 1/3-pound patty that they cook on the grill. I also ordered large onion rings and a large drink. The burger had that homemade taste to it. Nice char and nicely sized patty. It comes with lettuce, tomato, onions and mustard. The pastrami was very minimal though. The onion rings were freshly made. I saw they were throwing onions into some fresh batter before frying. Nothing frozen on that front. Only downside is it is a bit expensive. It was a $10 burger and the large onion rings were $5. But I think I may have found my new burger spot. The burger is ginormous with plenty of fresh, crisp iceberg lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, etc. Love the fact that they have the "hamburger" choice and the "cheeseburger" choice separate on their menu. Too many places automatically have cheese on everything. The burger is so big, I could only finish half in one sitting. The fries are acceptable -- the typical straight cut, medium thickness. I've been going here for 15+ years, it's been about a year since I've been back. I noticed last time I was there the Asian family was no longer running the place...maybe they sold it? The food however was still excellent - the best burger in town. So today I took a coworker after bragging how good the burgers were here. Unfortunately they made some changes under the new owners since then and the burgers are sadly not the same. The buns have been changed and are a little on the stale side. And the meat used to be free formed and would hang over the bun edge. They had that great open flame taste and were soooo juicy. Now, they look like the downgraded the meat and they looked packaged. The taste is not that good...they are smaller and on the dry side. The staff is super friendly and you get the food quick. But the quality of the burgers is sadly not the same. I'm a big fan of burgers, so when I saw "Best Burgers" strone across a non-descript strip mall in Concord, I said to myself, "self, why not?" How bad could it be? Finally found a chance to try this place out at lunch time. We went early lunch, about 11:30 and the morning was super clear, but very cold for the Bay Area. Low 30s when we woke up. Note that my buddy and I were dressed with coats over our button-downs. Walk in and boom, we instantly noticed the chill in the place. They obviously didn't bother to turn on the heat (or maybe they don't have heat?). The hot grills didn't help any for the customers, although the cooks were in thin tshirts. But it was very cold, and I'd say one of the coldest restaurants I've been in. The place is unforgettable. Not fancy at all, but not even considered hole-in-the-wall. It's sort of in restaurant ambiance purgatory. No character at all. For what it's worth, the burger was a decent bite, and especially at its price point. I got a burger and fries for less than $10, which is pretty rare these days in the area. They didn't ask how I wanted it cooked, so I assume they just cook it through. It was a touch dry, but still fairly tasty. Toppings were fresh, but the bun seemed cold. Would have liked it steamed, but it would have been hard to keep warm given the cold space. Again, not too bad of a burger. Fries were forgettable. Maybe get your grub to go? Value is fantastic though, and it seems they get a few regulars in. read more
