I came to NexGen Nails because their website clearly advertised a full acrylic set for $35. When I arrived, they said it was actually $42, plus $7 removal fee, plus $5 more just for shaping. That's way more than advertised. Worse, they said it would be a 1-hour wait, but there were at least two staff members not busy, one of them was just sitting/eating, refusing to help. It felt like they didn't want to do the job for me. The service felt very discriminatory / racist--I was treated differently, ignored, and not given the benefit of the doubt. Overall: misleading pricing, unfair wait times, disrespectful staff, and what felt like racist treatment. If you plan to go, double check pricing in person before you sit down or give money. Walked in at 4:10pm with my 13 year old daughter. A lady towards the back asked how may I help you. I stated that I would like to get my daughter's nails done. She said "We busy" so I asked when will you not be busy and she said "it's the weekend (today is Friday) we busy until we close." The two ladies getting pedicures looked at me with a puzzled look and we both all just smiled and I said Thank you and have a great day. It is 4pm and they close at 7:30pm. There were three people there being serviced and several associates that work there with no costumers. Where do I even start with this review?! I'm very disappointed that it had to come to this because I've been going here for so long. I've come to love my Pedi lady especially: miss Mai. So I'm really sad that I won't be coming back here after today's incident. I've basically been struggling with my french set that Tao did almost two weeks ago now due to several issues that I've had. I came in initially last Friday for a new set and a pedi. The toes came out fab like they always do with Mai. The French set was another story. Have you guys seen that "this is what I asked for versus this is what I got" on ig l?? Yeah I definitely felt like I was living through one of those sad cases! So I brought in a picture of the nails I wanted told her I wanted exactly that as far as the design and they came out looking nothing like that. The worst part about it was that the nail bed was so high it gave me old lady vibes definitely not the new trendy French sets that are in style. Actually no that's not the worst part- the WORST part is that I even asked her could she make the nailbed smaller and make the French part longer when I first noticed it and she said "So you want the French to be bigger no I don't think so!" WHAT?!! So you don't do what the customer wants oh OK.. I tried to go along with it but when I finally looked down at the finished product I was so disappointed! I asked her if she could fix it that I wasn't happy and she said she didn't have time. Ok well can you add something to the nail part to make it look less big-like a design? No I don't have time. Wow.. ok!! SMFH. I felt defeated but it was nearing the time of my sons baseball game so I just paid and left. I tried to love it but I couldn't get over the huge nail beds so I figured I'd go back Monday and try to get them fixed. So Monday comes around and I tell her that I'm not happy again and show her the picture AGAIN and told her that I needed them like the picture or I'd like to get them taken off all the way. She reluctantly sits me down to start fixing them. I tip her $20 and was finally happy with my nails. Until the next day. I'm out shopping, trying on new clothes and somehow ended up breaking a nail which has never happened before. I texted her and told her about it and she said no problem to come in the next day and get it fixed. So on that day I somehow break another one (I believe they broke off because she grinded it down so hard and it broke off exactly where the French tip meets the base on both). But it was before my appointment so I'm just glad that I'm going at this point. Well I look down at the finished product and guess what now they're completely different colors. Here we are again at the end of the day and I have to run to my sons baseball game and she told me that she didn't have time again and just to come back. Welp!! Round 4 is it now?? Idk I lost count... but why would you do a completely different color on me like that and think I'm going to be ok with it and you know I'm picky!? Like I said I've been coming here for over seven years now so they know me!! Me and my daughter have been clients here since she was in high school. That's the saddest part to me that they simply didn't value my loyalty. I honestly feel like they prefer Caucasian clients over blacks and Latinos here. The straw that broke the camels back was that I asked her if she could do a fill and she agreed to it via text and then when I get there she's rushing me out again saying she doesn't have time for that and I was late. Yes I was seven minutes late but I'm coming from about an hour away because since I started coming here I've purchased a home and moved further north but hey they don't care. Yet I've waited for you guys to finish up plenty of times on one occasion up to 30 minutes with an appointment at that. Oh and guess what you were working on another client even still today so what's the real problem Tao??! Idkkk but I won't be giving them anymore of my time or money. It was so embarrassing everyone in the salon was looking at us and the other young girl with long black hair that does nails even said to her "Customer is always right just give her her money back." But she stood up and started yelling and that's when I just grabbed my bag and told her to kiss my big fat arse basically. Sionara tuhhh! I told her that I wanted to keep the length of my nails that had grown out and she cut them nearly all the way down to nubs.. the ombre looked more like a straight line of 2 colors.. I would give this place a better review on my friends dip nails and pedicure, done by women. I got a gel manicure by a man with a baby man bun. Regardless of the haircut, he was rude when I asked for more filing so my nails were actually even. I know its asking alot I also like my nails short and that was a problem to, even asking for 3 coats of polish got me an attitude. I'm a hairdresser and can do my own nails and pay to relax. I received 30 second "massage at the end with cuticle oil and no hot towel. I can handle uneven nails, if your friendly and the service is good but this wasn't necessary. I recommend the women nail techs because they were way nicer. On a positive note, it seemed pretty clean for a busy Saturday afternoon and they took us right away without an appointment. So I may have found my new nail spot. My nails are naturally thin and I have a hard time finding consistent, reliable nail services. I have some 'go-to' places but it's still hit or miss...or non-lasting. I like the look of gel but realized that nexgen is more practical for my nail type, shape and even how often I use or wash my hands. Excited to say that this place may be my new go-to! It takes a few visits before I can confirm though...that its not a dream. They had a good selection of colors, they actually used name brand quality powders, and the shop was clean with a friendly down to earth staff and there was barely a wait. It's near the Subway & Mamas & Daughters diner mid shopping center. I told my concerns (that long description on the 1st paragraph) & they did my nails EXACTLY how I wanted. Also, half my manicured nails were painted ON my cuticle... Which makes it look like I did it myself, plus chip off faster bc your nails and cuticles are different heights and growing differently. Both times I've gone for just a basic $15 manicure as a way to relax during a lunch break. Overall, I've had decent experiences. The technicians seem friendly and not overly pushy. The environment appears clean and organized. The paint from each manicure could have been done better (closer to the edges of the nail and cuticle). Friend took me in to get a long overdue mani/pedi at this location. Honestly, after reading the reviews I was a bit worried but true to my normal self I disregarded them to try it out for myself. I was met by a kind and soft spoken manicurist who asked me what I'd like. Once I told her she proceeded to take care of business. I especially loved my pedicure. It's been a while since the last one and I'm sure I put poor guy was worn out by the time he was done. He throughly rubbed, scrubbed and massaged my feet and then polished to perfection! Probably the worst nail salon in the area!!! Services: Nexgen and Spa Pedicure The guy that did my nails was clearly in a rush and didn't completely take off the last polish I had on (color: red). He then proceeded to apply my new color (light gray) on top of it like it would cover it up. I asked him about still being able to see the red in my nail beds and he says "oh I'll cut that off". I'm like no let me go wash my hands to see if this even comes out and looks decent. Of course it did not! I walked over to the manager and asked him if this was worth paying for and if so someone else needed to fix my nails. He had another lady come over to convince me her wiping my nails was making it look better and I was like NO that is not any better. After the manager stepped on my freshly polished toe nail (yep that's messed up too), he followed me to the checkout and said he'd take an additional $10 and gave me a card that would allow 50% off my next visit. I got in the car and looked at the holes, lines and the transparency of my nails and that discount was not good enough for me and I refused to look like a hot mess for the holidays so I returned the same day and demanded a redo. You could tell this was a true inconvenience for him and that is why this place has so many bad reviews. The specials they have are not worth it, the customer service at this place SUCKS, they lack experience and pick which customers they want provide excellent service to (i.e. we were never asked if we wanted anything to drink). My technician talked to me like I was an idiot and was extremely rough. I was afraid to speak up about what I wanted because of how sassy she was.
