Never been here befor so skipped the usual lunch spot driving north. Very convenient off fwy. Ordered half chicken salad combo with garden salad. Generous portion but they put the honey mustard on the salad (usually on side at most places) and it is very spicy (so 4 stars in that). Sandwich is very tasty but would have asked for wheat since Chiabatta hard to get into my mouth but nice and crispy. Will be back! read more

Took my phone number to add points to loyalty club. Took my order. Chicken Salad sandwich w/side of pasta salad. Customized order to include 4 sweet pickles in to go package. Extra plate (share with wife). Do not cut. (She likes to cut her a piece smaller than half). A tea and two water cups. Paid and got a receipt showing I had points added to loyalty club. Went and self served ice in cup, filled with fresh unsweet tea. Picked up sweet and low, two straws, a lid, two lemon slices. Stopped by table to pick up four napkins, two straws and four bread sticks. My wife had selected a booth. (These were recovered about six months ago). I sat. She went and filled two water cups with ice and water. Picked up crackers. The meal was delivered to the table by a worker with extra plates, silverware and he waited as we checked over the order. It was correct and we thanked him. He thanked us for dining with Newk's. The dining hall had some music playing not too loud. The other tables were enjoying small talk. A fellow knocked a dirty plate off his table trying to tend to his grandbaby baby in a carrier. A worker hurried over and quietly told him to tend to his baby, they would clean up. Another worker came over with some paper towels and picked up the few items off the floor. Both workers complimented the granddad on his baby. He thanked them for cleaning up his mess. He had a grandkid of about five years old. She left grandma and thanked the worker that picked up the mess. The worker smiled bigly and said "thank you" then winked at the grandmother and commented, "both of you are very nice, it is obvious she (the young girl) has learned from watching both of you." The grand dad was very proud and said "that was kind of you to say". The grand mother squeezed her grand daughter's hand and said, "and your actions have been a blessing for our family." That was all quite exemplary on the part of everyone. The young girl skipped happily to the door and held it open for grandma. This is my go-to lunch spot. The rewards app doesn't want to play nice with my (older) phone, but the staff is always friendly and more than happy to look up my phone number to make sure I get my points or see if I have rewards to use. I have had a couple of the salads (Cobb, Chef, and Green Goddess), and some of the sandwiches (Newk's Club, French Dip, Turkey Avocado, and Roast Beef). My two favorites are the Roast Beef sandwich and the Turkey Avocado, (but I sub provolone cheese for the swiss). Depending on the time of day, it may be a bit hard to find a table, but they are usually really fast at getting vacated tables cleaned, and they have a patio area as well. read more

Far away from our home Newks in north Fort Worth, this is a good location. Nice service, was also pretty quick, but we were there at an oddball hour. Slaw and fruit was fresh (kinda wish they came in sizes slightly larger than literally jiggers, though). I usually get their pizzas, they're great, but wanted something lighter traveling. Sandwiches were great. I gotta agree with the previous reviewer that the odor from the restrooms, but it's not "cleaning chemicals", it's the regular fragrance things that hang in there, but the way the airflow apparently flows is not really working well; they need what I think is called negative-pressure/positive-presssure or whatever to send the air towards them or something? Not sure, but it's probably a pain to correct. Not a big deal, but still. Still a good spot. read more

Food was excellent! We had the pimento cheese sandwich and it was extremely cheesy. Full of flavor, served hot and with a side of your choice. We had the pasta salad which was good but about average in flavor compared to other places. The steak sandwich was very good. Crunchy crust on Italian bread with soft bread inside. Rich tasting sauce but a little light on the sauerkraut for my preference. The side was the Newk's caviar, AKA a cold black eyed pea salad which had a nice flavor balanced with the veggies and seasoning. For desert had the PB&J woopie pie. It was served almost frozen but after 30 min to thaw had a nice strong flavor and cake was soft. Areas for growth = customer service. Since it was our first time at the restaurant we had several questions and the cashier knew nothing. I don't think she had even eaten there before...so I had to pause my order to check the website. Pretty sad that the face of the business was so poorly trained but she was pleasant. Second area for growth is the cleanliness. The high chairs were extremely dirty. I pulled three different ones and non of them looked like they had ever been cleaned with kids leftovers and crumbs everywhere. You can see exposed pipes from the broken sink cabinet facing the sitting area...gross. Also a glance into the kitchen from the drink area showed dirty corners in the floor and trash under appliances. read more

Ordered 2 things on the menu To-Go and they messed up one. It's not so hard to get things correct. There were no special instructions. The whole point of "To-Go" is so you don't have to wait. Just frustrating. Also, they were out of pizza boxes so they put the pizza stacked on itself in one of their take out boxes. The bottom pizza was soggy and cheese was stuck to the paper. read more

The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice. It's a step up from Panera Bread, almost hitting the coziness of BJ's. I really like the layout of their seats, prep kitchen that you can see into, central fixings bar with pickles, breadsticks, dressings, etc, selection of booths and tables. The interior design has been very well thought out, such that I think this would be a nice place for both casual and semi-fancy lunches or dinners. The food was very tasty as well. I got a chicken salad sandwich with a side of Texas caviar. The sandwich was a good staple (standard good, I usually say). Tasty classic chicken salad filling without too many crazy mixins (like the pineapples in the version at Jason's Deli, or too many sweet dried fruit). The bread was a good choice, not too crusty like an old baguette, not too soft like wheat bread. I asked for extra lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers, and they came out with a generous plate of these veggies for me. I was pleased. The TX caviar is nothing special. Kidney beans and some green bell peppers and dressing, a tad too oily. Next time I will try a different side. I got to try my friend's vegetarian pizza, which had artichokes, goat cheese, pesto, etc. Looked amazing. Tasted amazing. I am coming back for this pizza next time on Monday or Wednesday, because the Tuesday issue of the Battalion (TAMU newspaper) has a Newk's coupon for $5 pizzas after 5pm on these days. What was also a nice perk was the free drinks for students after 4pm. They know how to treat students! Their sweet iced tea was just right. Sweet but not cloying like McDonald's or Chicken Express.
