I would have rated this place 5 stars if it were professionally managed. The salad and soup were very good. The decor is very nice, also a good setup with a separate sink outside the bathroom. We had the soup and salad combination. My wife ordered the Caesar Salad with Lobster and Crab Bisque, I had the Simply Salad with Black Bean Soup. Both were very good. The entire bill was around $15. No tip and we drank water. We dined on a Sunday evening between 5 & 5:30. I counted at least 8 people working. I would have really liked this place if they had done just a couple of things different. Friendly-A greeting and welcome with a smile. The male cashier was polite, but not overly friendly. While were seated and eating, no one came by and asked how the food tasted. I would have loved to tell them how good it tasted. When we left I don't think anyone noticed. How about, "thank you, hope to see you again". Cleanliness-There was one big table that needed cleaning when we arrived, and it was only getting cleared at the time we left. Meanwhile several other customers had left and none of those tables were cleaned. We also noticed the table next to ours had been cleared, but still had food crumbs on it. I could accept all the above if the place was busy. It wasn't. There were only 4-8 tables occupied the entire time we were there. Lot's of employees standing around. One girl came out to clean the tables, meanwhile there were seven people milling aroundthe back. I hope this place is around in a year, I really liked the food. We came for the cake. We saw the cake. We ate the cake. My wife and I got two different flavors, strawberry and German chocolate, so that we could compare. My strawberry was really good -- very moist, flavorful, melting in my mouth. My wife ate the other slice and loved it. Then we tried each other's slices and we each thought that we wouldn't be able to enjoy our own slices again. And yet we did. We devoured some more, then we tried each other's slices again. Amazing. We just both had two perfect slices of cake and lived to tell about it. read more

This was some of the worst service I have ever had. I was delivered a cold bowl of soup with what could have been called a hairy sandwich because I found not one but two pieces of hair in my sandwich. When I asked to have my soup warmed the worked literally didn't even take the soup back to the kitchen. She just made a loop around the establishment and brought back the same cold bowl of soup. When I am craving a sandwich sub one of my top five places would have to be Newks. My fo-to is their Newk's-Q s BBQ chicken. Its indulgent warm and tastes great. If you do the half soup/ half sandwich you'll definitely feel full after lunch. Their pizzas are awesome and you can't go wrong with a great salad. The only downside is the price. They are a bit steep particularly for the soup and salads. But the food tastes great the menu caters to a broad array of options for almost anyone and the place has a deli/cafe feel. It provides a nice space if you have to work on your laptop during a day's lunch break. The place is mostly crowed during peak lunch/ right after work hours- aside from that it fairly calm and quiet at this location. read more

We made an online Order tonight and went to pick it up. One of the things we ordered and paid for wasn't in the bag; so, I called the store to ask about it. The young lady who answered sounded distracted and was also rude. I asked her if they could just refund the item instead of us having to come all the way back out there to pick it up. I visited Newk's in Clinton due to attending a soccer tournament in Clinton. This location of Newk's is the dirtiest and worst managed Newk's restaurant I have ever been to. The place was filthy. Food and trash on the floor under tables etc. The bathroom was equally filthy with no soap or paper towels and trash on the floors including a dirty diaper in one stall. Food orders were slow to come out and wrong when they came out. There were plenty of employees there, the majority of whom were just standing around chatting at the to go register. Absolutely disgusting. I will never go back to the Clinton location of Newk's again. read more

Newks is actually pretty good, if you are dining in that is. If you need to grab something to go, DO NOT GO TO NEWK's. The dine-in salads are expensive, but they are huge and I can rarely finish one but if you order that same salad to go you'll pay the same price but get less than 1/3rd of the food. Apparently the soups are worse. My wife went in for a late lunch and ordered a bowl of chicken & sausage gumbo. She was charged $7.48 and this is what she got. read more

We are here in Clinton passing through and camping. I didn't feel like cooking so we went into town to see what they had. We saw there was a college and you know there is usually good food or else you don't make it. This place was amazing. My 5 year old ate everything and that's a huge thing. While eating we checked to see if there were some around where we live and there is. I chose not to get the cake because I was full and there's a place near us I can go and try. My 5 year old had the kids mac and cheese (not the bacon one), I had the newk's Q amazing, husband has 1/2 pesto chicken and crab chowder. The chowder was meh but I won't know them on that. First time here. The sever greeted us and took our drink order promptly. He was very polite. He came back to take our order very quickly, which was nice, but I felt a little rushed since it was our first time there and I wanted to look over the menu. The shrimp poboy was fine. Ethan ordered the saints chicken/shrimp it was a little over priced in my opinion, and it was mediocre at best. Won't be back. The cashier didn't seem to know or care what the Tippah County Caviar is to describe it when I was choosing a side for my sandwich. The Giant Steak Sandwich arrived with none of the horseradish sauce advertised and I had to approach the cashier to ask for more was given maybe a heaping tablespoon for my effort. I suppose that should have been enough as there was not much more beef than that on the sandwich. Upon opening the sandwich, the three other adults I was with agreed it was not a 7.99 serving, even with the tiny dollop of Cole slaw as a side. Very disappointed in service and product. The kids did not like the kids pizzas either. The soup was the only thing enjoyed at the table by others who had ordered. Too many other places to eat than to stop here again. read more

This is the preferred sandwich shop around town. More extensive menu, cleaner and generally better service than McAlister's.

We had a large call-in order. After getting back to the office we noticed a pizza was left out of the bag. I called and they informed me that it is "right here". I asked them to remake it since it would be cold by the time that I got back up there. Not once did they call to tell us that they didn't put it in the bag. I went up there and interrupted a person conversation for them to tell me excuse after excuse as to why it was left out when it was "right there" and handed me a stone cold pizza claiming it just came out of the oven. I didn't even get an apology until I was halfway around the corner. I called back and talked to Steven Scott, the manager. While he claimed to want to make things right, the only misstep he acknowledged was that there was a personal conversation going on before I was greeted. Nothing about the cold pizza or the excuses or the late apology. We used to get take out from there once a week for the office. No more. They have LOST our business. read more

You can always count on getting good eats at this location however, you can also count on freezing your A** off because they run the AC wide open year round. Our first foray into a Newk's so didn't know what to expect. Somewhere between fast food and casual sit down-you order at the front then go sit and they bring the food. Just as we entered the eating area, there is a big, high, round table with all kinds of stuff on it in big jars. Individual (Covid style) cups of pickle slices, parmesan, jalapenos and -wait for it- capers. Additonally, there were packets of salt, Equal and Spenda, saltines and bread sticks but no butter and oddly no pepper packets. Ok, on with the food. FiL and I both ordered salads. Me-Black and Bleu (steak with red onion, gorgonzola and blue cheese dressing)(a little TOO much but I fought through it. FiL got the shrimp roumelade salad. Well, in theory. Turns out they ran out of roumelade dressing. My first thought was that it was Saturday and how does that happen? but then I thought it was feasible that they make it themselves early in the day and that they had a run on it and making a new batch late wouldn't give it justice so I'll let that slide without knowing more. Wife had half sammie and cup of soup. The chicken on the sammie was dry; as if it had been cut early in the day and then not packed up properly for long term storeage. Everytime I go here the food is great and I honestly regret eating Subway today at all. The staff is usually very helpful although I have picked up on tension between employees before and it was awkward. I also wish that they fixed my sandwich the same way consistently. I am very disappointed in my visit. This is the second time that I have come to this location in Clinton, MS and there are more than 2 dirty tables. So I waited for 20 minutes to see how long it would take them to clean the 3 dirty tables and they are still not clean. It is 4:30p.m. on a weekday and it is not busy in here. The salad bar was messy also...ugh...This is the LAST time that I will visit this location in Clinton, MS. The manager needs to train his team to clean up. I like Newk's. I don't love it. It's a chain. I have nothing against chains. I ate most recently last Friday, January 4, 2013. I had the tomato basil soup. Now, I loved that soup. It was absolutely fantastic and I could have made a meal just out of the soup. I also like the roasted garlic and bread sticks as well as the Splenda sweet tea. However, most of what I've gotten at Newks is just ok. However, I have gotten soup that if not eaten quickly enough, turns very watery and I find that off putting and frankly weird. read more

Placed an order to go and stressed to them I needed utensils. When they handed me my food I ask did you put utensils in and the person said yes. Very disappointed in this location. Part of the order delivered quickly but it took 19 minutes from the time on the ticket to get the cup of coffee ordered. So everyone sits at table waiting on one persons cup of coffee. If you do not have the entire order, do not deliver any of it! read more

Me and my husband stopped in on a Friday evening for a salad. Hardly anyone there. After 20 minutes, still no food. As far as I could tell know-one ordered up until the time we got tired of waiting on our food and decided to leave. Plenty of staff there, even someone trying to sell an XBox while we waited on our food. Most of the staff was just standing around talking. My husband told them that we wanted our money back, that we were tired of waiting. He offered to give us our salads to go but we said , no thank you and left. Said he wouldn't charge us for our tea, I should hope not! I'm sure we will try it again at some point but not any time soon. read more
