We were staying Ridgeland on the way the Gulf Shores. We happened upon a very nice shopping center and Aplos. Read a few reviews on Yelp and decided to give it a try. What a terrific eating experience. The place was lively and bustling with tons of indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. The food was awesome and delivered pretty fast by very friendly servers. I had the chicken shawarma wrap and my wife had the grilled chicken gyro. Both were delicious. Highly recommend dining here. I stopped in around 5:00 for an early dinner after a travel day and ordered the gyro rice bowl. Maybe I caught them on an off day, but the whole service experience felt pretty chaotic. The line was taking forever, so I ended up using the kiosk to place my order. After ordering, I sat down thinking the food would be brought out, but later found out it had actually been sitting in the pickup area in a bag the whole time. That just added to the confusion. Once I finally got the food, it was disappointing. The gyro meat was subpar at best. It tasted stale, almost old, and instead of being warm, soft, and flavorful, it was kind of crispy and dry. The yellow rice also wasn't very good. It had a chewy texture and just didn't feel fresh. Trying to look past the service and food, I will say the atmosphere is nice and it's in a really cool area. Apolos is my favorite family restaurant in Ridgeland. I like the outdoor seating where it does not feel crowded and where across the table conversation is possible. The kabobs are tasty and the meatball appetizer could almost serve as a meal. The children love the pizzas. The wait staff is helpful and courteous. One of the managers--Ryne--always goes out of his way to be helpful and to ensure that the service results in customer satisfaction. He is a real credit to the restaurant. Aplos never disappoints! I am a Chicago native and gyros are a staple, however I was pleasantly pleased when I had theirs. So light and refreshing, with the mixed veggies. i'm not sure why i enjoy eating here. i always think i'm going to enjoy it much more than i do. today i ordered the pita mozzarella, but it was never delivered to the table. i shared my mom's italian sausage pizza which was ok. my daughter had the grilled chicken plate. it looked just ok as well. the best part was enjoying the outside view. the friendly manager did apologize and take the pita off my ticket. i so want to enjoy this place, maybe i'm not ordering correctly! read more

It's the chicken Shawarma there at Aplòs but make sure you ask for the roasted vegetables in lieu of the rice. We did not eat here, only tried. My wife has IBS but has always been able to eat GF pizzas at Bravo, Sal and Mookie's, Mellow Mushroom, Lost Pizza, Pyro's, and others. We went in and explained we needed a GF crust pizza with olive oil as base because she also cannot have onion or garlic. The counter clerk went back and conferred with someone who then conferred with someone else, who then came back to the front and said their pizza crust would not work for my wife. I then asked if there would be any problem with their GF bread/buns (the FindMeGlutenFree website says they have these), but they said they didn't have GF bread. Period. No effort to interest us in a salad or anything else. Basically, we don't want to fool with you. We walked out and went to another restaurant less than a block away who made several suggestions and a couple of accommodations so that my wife could eat a good, safe meal there. read more

The two persons taking orders had absolutely no personality... not even, "hello, how can I help you?" Fine. We ordered. Everyone else is receiving their food. People who ordered after us are receiving their food. Then a manager? comes over to say what we ordered was out of stock. I understand this happens but the kitchen needs to keep an eye on stock so that this doesn't happen - kitchen 101. What I ordered was a full platter with chicken. What I got was dry, shredded chicken that had been living under a heat lamp for hours. The vegetables were cold. The naan that was supposed to have been delivered with the platter - never arrived. The drink station was sticky, disgusting and those outlets are in need of cleaning! The staff here are more interested in conversing with each other than helping the customers in-front of them. The noise level is insane! When the restaurant is full, you are literally raising your voice so the people on the other side of the table can hear. read more

This place is amazing and it's in a beautiful location! I originally planned to visits the one on 55, but when I typed in the name I found this one and it did not disappoint. The line moved swiftly so I could order, the smiling employees were professional, and the atmosphere so relaxing. The outside seating is superb for your little ones if they're busy, but being a plant lover the inside decor was perfect. If you're single or have a small party there are a couple bar areas to sit or you can park outside on early fall days like these. I kept it simple and ordered the Greek wings and Greek fries, but they were far from simple in taste. I recall lemon pepper being one of the seasonings, but it has a Mediterranean twist that hits the spot. You can't go wrong with fries like these. They run with a text system to your phone and I didn't get my text to know my food was ready, but I was too busy outside enjoying the scenery and plotting my next visit. Found a big screw metal nut or lug in my gyro. I felt it in my mouth and luckily didn't bit down and immediately spit it out and it made a loud noise. I called staff and the manager came over. Said he had to go to kitchen immediately to stop use of the batch. He returned and took it off the bill and offered me whatever I wanted to replace the meal. I sent a complaint to the company because someone at a higher level needed to know, I have never heard back. I also called the number provided never heard back . Always enjoy Aplos. I had never been to the one in Jackson, but getting hooked having one closer means we have eaten at both quite a few times. The nice weather makes me crave outdoor dining and Aplos has the best around. I decided to spend my lunch break here snacking on hummus and reading and it was lovely. The food is always wonderful and has great flavor. We have enjoyed everything we have tried. My daughter and I usually split the kids cheese pizza(pictured is from the Jackson location but quality is the same at both). It's perfect for two with some to go! They have really good tea as well. I am a big tea drinker(usually hot and not sweetened) and I am constantly let down by the unsweetened iced tea at a lot of places. The staff are always great too. I am not sure how they seem to find the best workers in a time when other businesses struggle to find anyone at all but whatever they are doing is working. This is definitely one of our favorite spots and we hope they are here to stay. read more
