Love this place and their yummy pizza. Huge personal pan pizzas with the best buttery deep dish crust on the planet. The staff is always extremely helpful and nice. We visit when we are in town to visit our daughter at college and I crave it when I'm away. The diamond has a queso sauce instead of marinara and it is perfectly yummy with bbq sauce on top! Very low-key quaint location with lots of natural light. On the corner of a strip mall with ample parking. Walk up counter service, table delivery. Went because of the rave reviews of my in-laws and my husband, who loves that the pizza literally comes all the way out to the edge; no naked pizza crust. Shared the Supreme with my in-laws with the traditional crust. Was not overly impressed, but I wasn't paying. Toppings in and of themselves were abundant and tasty. Very little tomato sauce - big turnoff for me. Without it, it's toppings on cheesy bread. I eat with a fork & knife (don't like food under my fingernails), so cutting with plasticware was a challenge. Love that the drink cups are given at the counter when you pay, so you can quickly quench your thirst, and the time to get the food was not bad either. Server also gave me a to go cup of the comeback dressing when I asked for a sample (I was thinking sample spoon), which appears to be on several of the items. As for the dressing, it was good, but not something I would put on a pizza, and not the one I miss so much from a once-popular-now-closed Jackson staple restaurant. ***SIGH*** Saw the bill. Definitely would not have paid the asking price for that 14" pizza. 4-stars for service and pleasing my in-laws; 3-stars for my take on the pizza. I love pizza and try to get a slice everywhere I go in my travels. I tried The Pizza Shack last night, and was a bit disappointed. The service was fast, and the employees were very nice. There is a large fan in the center of the dining area that was making it cold, so I asked them to turn it off, and they obliged right away. We ordered a thin crust pizza with everything and a side of pizza sauce. Reflecting back, it's a good thing we ordered that pizza sauce because they pizza had very little on it. While all of the ingredients were fresh and tasty, the fundamental taste of a pizza, for me, which is a nice even ratio of pizza sauce was just missing. In the end, the pizza was ok, but not a place that I would go back to. read more

To start with pizza was great and that's coming from my 2 kids and myself, service could have stepped their game up, tables were filthy, had to wipe them down to sit down. The 2 girls working counter were more interested in their hair and serving 2 young men ice cream than they were actually paying attention to what's going on. Tuesday night and the place is about 1/2 full. After placing our order we're told it's about 40 minute wait. For a Nokia busy weeknight, that's unacceptable. After receiving our order, the pizza was lukewarm, plus undercooked. The crust was mostly raw dough. We sent it back to be cooked further when the staff began to get snippy with us. After 10 more minutes of alleged cooking, it was still raw dough. We boxed it up and finished cooking it at home. The Pizzs Shack on Fortification street is excellent. They should not be lumped in with these guys. If I owned the Pizza Shack name, I'd fire these clowns in Madison. Make the trip to Fortification Street. It's worth it. read more

Best pizza I've tried in Mississippi so far. Really reminds me Of a round table. Ingredients are fresh and the vegetables have a crisp/crunch to them. I will definitely be back Stopped by on the way home to give it try this was my spot to get great sub as it was a Lenny's Subs prior to becoming a Pizza Shack about a month ago. I got the Philly Cheese Steak it came with a pickle spear and choice of chips or antipasto, overall great sandwich I prefer mine with a little more spice to it but it definitely was not a show stopper and the antipasto wasn't bad either. I didn't get a pie for my first meal here because their pies aren't New York style like I like, but they don't claim to be a New York Style spot either the claim to be Mississippi Style a great pie with fresh ingredients. If their sandwiches are indicative of the quality of their ingredients on their pizzas then they are doing what they say. We spent almost exactly 100 bucks on 4 pizzas which gives you an idea of it's not a cheap in the bad sense of the word. Pizza was ok, not great. Definitely better than a chain like dominos or pizza hut, but compared to more "gourmet" pizza places I've had it was kind of middle of the road. read more
