Order from Newk's and enjoyed my Grilled Chicken Sandwich and Loaded Potato Soup. The loaded soap had bacon, lots of cheese, and great taste. The sandwich was also very well prepared. There was some confusion with my online order and subsequently paid twice without realizing. Once management found out, they called me directly and worked to resolve the issue. This speaks highly of their staff and policies and will be frequenting this place again. read more

Its almost like Italian panera bread.. Creative pizza menu and quick service.. had the roast beef sandwich with pasta salad; loved the meat. The Mediterranean pizza was spot on.. It had whole olives, feta cheese, grilled chicken, artichoke, bell pepper and red onion and something leafy. One of the best gourmet pizza i ve had. Greatly enjoyed it.. Bleh, 3 stars is being pretty generous. Overall I was underwhelmed considering the reviews here and how busy it was when I walked in. It seemed like a nice sit down lunch spot, the service was prompt and the cashiers were friendly enough but the food pretty much sucked. Ordered the grilled steak sandwich that came with caramelized onions, provolone cheese and a horseradish spread. The bread it came on was fresh but the meat was skimpy and dry. The caramelized onions were so sweet it tasted more like caramel than onion. It was so overpowering I felt like I was eating a jelly sandwich. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing but for $8 it was a complete fail. I may come back to try the salads because the ones people were ordering looked huge and delicious. Honestly this place is just another run of the mill Panera Bread, nothing spectacular. read more

Love this place! I cannot believe it took me this long to find it. Fresh warm bread and fresh sandwiches at 8:30pm at night, awesome sweet tea and a great Caesar salad. Today was a rainy day and I wanted soup. First time here with my sister and boyfriend. And it was okay. We had the newk's favorite salad, bbq chicken pizza, and corn & crab soup. The salad lettuce was old and dry, salad toppings included croutons, cranberries, grapes, walnuts, and dressing which was not bad. The chicken on the salad was dry as well. The bbq chicken pizza tasted good and the chicken wasn't dry. Lastly, all I can say about the soup was it was salty. I had to drink alot of water after all day long. The place wasn't busy at all. We asked for the utensils and extra plates several times, service took way too long. We ended up getting it ourself. Overall it was okay for a rainy day. read more

Came here last night with the family. I got the chicken sandwich and the kids got a pizza and Mac & Cheese. Food was not bad and both my kids finished all their foods. It wasn't that busy I guess everyone was at SXSW or something. I love the condiments section. It had a lot of stuff and was really clean. We bought a Groupon for this place a couple weeks ago and decided to try it for a late lunch today. We had $20 to spend and for our money, we got a great club sandwich on some pretty amazing bread. The break was almost doughy tasting, but was warm and toasty for us. We also ordered a five cheese pizza with sundried tomatoes and a side salad with blue cheese dressing. The pizza was yummy, albeit oily from all the chesese. The salad was surprisingly tossed for us when delivered to our table. There were tomatoes, cucumbers, and croutons mixed in. Good stuff. We were thoroughly impressed with every item we tried and will definitely be back for more yummy food. read more

Great salads and sandwiches. I have yet to have a bad meal here. The Cobb salad is great, as is the black and blue. Their sandwiches and pizzas both have a lot of flavor and are a decent size. Being able to add some extras from the toppings bar is a nice touch as well. It gets crowded at lunch time, but the line moves fairly quickly. read more

I love Newks. It is just down the road from my work. I have tried (and loved) the Club sandwhich and the Ultimate salad. The only negative i would give this place is their bacon leaves plenty to be desired. it tends to be more fat than meat and can get Very chewy. Other than that this place is great. read more

Sadly, I'm taking this place out of my lunchtime rotation, despite working very close to it. Last week they forgot to add the chicken to the takeout order I placed online for a Greek chicken salad. Yesterday, the Cobb salad and black-eyed pea soup were just BAD, especially the soup. The black-eyed peas didn't even taste cooked. I don't expect much from chain deli lunches but next time, I'll hit up Jason's or Modern Market. Sad face. read more

From price to food, Newks Cafe is the best when it comes to eating in the Arboretum. I eat one of their salads just about everyday for lunch when I want to get out of the office and they never disappoint. Came in for Father's Day lunch. Very clean, open, and easy to navigate my kid's wheelchair between tables (a huge plus!). However, the menu is hanging next to the host/ordering stand, and the items are listed in big font, but the descriptions appear to be size 14 font. No joke. And there's nowhere to stand and read through everything that isn't in the direct path of purple coming in and trying to order. This was frustrating and awful and set a negative tone for the meal. Had to search for the water, which isn't cold or iced or by the drink station. I ordered a half shrimp po'boy and half crab & lobster bisque. Both tasted very fresh and light, but the half-sandwich was VERY small. My dad had a full sandwich, and it's about what of expect of a half. The soup serving was great, and my mom's salad was enormous! My daughter had a kid's grilled cheese, which was a good size for the price and for children, but was... Well, kinda gross. She ate it, (she'll eat anything, though), but it was a thin layer of rubbery, greasy cheese on bread. Hardly quality food. All in all, I would go back for a full sandwich with soup substituted for the side ($2.25 to do this), and I'd be quite happy, but I agree with the person who said she left feeling like she'd had a very expensive snack. 5 stars for openness and ADA accessibility. 2 stars for nearly-impossible-to-read menu. 4 stars for friendliness of employees, although they didn't know the menu very well and could use a bit more training. 5 stars for most of the food, 2 stars for the kids' grilled cheese, and 3 stars for portion sizes. read more

Went to Newks for my first time today. The menu here is a nice selection of salads, sandwiches, and pizzas. They also have some delicious looking cakes. The real winner at this location though is the customer service. Trainer Jeff and manager Erica went out of their way to make sure I had exactly what I needed. They are most likely one of the friendliest staff in town and other cafe locations should take note. This is how one builds business! read more

Newks is awesome. I usually get the steak sammich with the cartelized onions on it. My gf had a chicken salad sammich this time and they hooked it up, they don't skimp you and the sides are bomb. I usually get the pimento mac and cheese but the other version is really good too, so is the cole slaw and the fruit cup has lots of good stuff too. The coleslaw is great. It's fast if you get to-go like I usually do, but it's not a fast food place, so you order and then wait a little bit. It's worth it. It's only like 5 min. Anyway. Oh and it's about 10$ for a sammich and a premium side, it's not a cheap sammich stop, but it's extremely reasonable for what you get. I highly recommend it. Everything is very good. read more

Love this place for a quick lunch. I am lucky as this restaurant is very close to my job so I can enjoy it often, but wish there were more locations. Love the menu and the food is ALWAYS good. Only bump is sometimes it takes over 20 minutes for your food to arrive at your table, which is tough if you are on your lunch break. read more
