Salad

I took my daughter to Nuke's Eatery in the Great Hills area yesterday, and we had such a great experience. I tried their 3-for-$12.99 deal and also ordered the kids' mac & cheese meal for her, which came with fresh fruit. Everything tasted great--hot items were served hot, and everything was fresh. Our food came out in a reasonable time. Not sure if traffic is increased more on the weekends. The restaurant was clean, nicely decorated for the holidays, and the kitchen area looked spotless. It's also very kid-friendly, which I really appreciate as a mom of a toddler. Overall, it was a very enjoyable visit for both of us, and I'll definitely be back.

Avocado & Shrimp salad.

Another lunch time discovery, thanks to my co worker. I found Newks to be a very likable get away for lunch. The menu has a lil something for any taste buds. The environment was pleasant and calm and clean. The Shrimp and avocado salad I had was very tasteful and healthy.

A little pricey, but the shrimp and avocado salad was really good. I wish it had had a couple more shrimp, and the "mixed greens" turned out to be arugula only. It was nice that they have about 6 salads to choose from.

Perhaps the most underrated eatery in Austin. Simply put, you must come. 1.) Ambiance The ordering process is easy, and the tables are always clean. Notably the music is at a perfect volume where you can enjoy the song, and still hear the conversation from your friends. I particularly like the washing area for your hands that is not in the bathroom. 2.) service is quite fast, and I have not met an unfriendly employee in the last few years. 3.) The food is consistent and just healthy. I particularly enjoy the Cobb salad(without pecans-nut issue) and the lobster bisque. The perfect balance between dressing and salad can be found here. The Lobster Bisque is perfectly seasoned and isn't too "Lobstery" lol. Try this place and let me know what you feel. Also the price point is well worth the food.

Iced tea

This Newks Eatery is located in the Arboretum right here in Central Texas. The menu has quite a few options, such as pizza, sandwhiches, soups, and salads. I ordered a large Greek salad, along with a cup of tomato basil soup and an iced tea. The soup had a creamy texture with a slight tomato taste. It wasn't too hot, and since I ordered a large salad, the cup size was just right. My Greek salad was super large with just the right amount of dressing. The veggies were all fresh and crunchy. Both of the dishes were delicious. The next time, I'll get the smaller sized salad. The iced tea was fresh, and it did not have that after tea taste left that comes from unfresh iced teas. The service was excellent from the interactions with the cashier until you get your order. The staff keeps the place clean. The restaurant is laid out nicely with lots of space. It has both indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is shared with many businesses, so timing is everything when trying to find a parking spot. However, don't let this prevent you from stopping by.

Newk's "Q" Sandwich

Newks reminds me of Panera bread. It has a relaxed fast causal vibe to the place. Offering sandwiches, salads, and pizza. The space was very clean and all the interactions with the staff were great and pleasant. I got their newks q sandwich which had chicken, bacon, Swiss, and their signature white bbq sauce. I especially loved the sauce on this sandwich. This was a convient spot to grab a quick bite and I will definitely be going back.

Service was excellent! Restaurant was clean and tidy. The food was good, BUT it was not worth the price.

First timer!

I'd give it a 2.5 if possible, just average food. Upcharged to switch cheese on my sandwich and the macaroni was not worth a $2.50 upcharge.

Newks strikes again. We ordered two pizzas and two salads to go. Delicious pizza and very flavorful vegetarian friendly soup.

I really like this place. Only reason they don't get five stars... the gumbo isn't available daily. Boo.

Vida Verde Kitchen -- A Hidden Gem That's Worth Finding…read more Austin is overflowing with trendy restaurants where the food is decent, the lighting is aggressive, and the wait time requires a light snack and a personality shift. I tend to avoid those places. Vida Verde Kitchen, thankfully, is not that. Tucked into a great area but slightly hidden (the kind of spot you feel proud to "discover"), Vida Verde feels like a restaurant that exists for people who actually want to eat, not just post. The menu is a thoughtful fusion of Tex-Mex, fresh flavors, and Americana--familiar enough to be comforting, but creative enough to keep things interesting. Yes, it's a bit overpriced, but the food earns its confidence. The guacamole is an absolute must, and anything leaning Tex-Mex is consistently solid. I can vouch. The wait staff deserves real credit here--knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely invested in the food and experience, which goes a long way these days. The atmosphere hits that Austin sweet spot: industrial touches softened by lush green foliage. It's stylish without trying too hard, which is rare and appreciated. If I had one note? This place needs a happy hour and a few more solid specials. Do that, and Vida Verde becomes dangerous--in the best way. Overall: a unique, thoughtful restaurant that avoids the hype trap and delivers where it matters. Definitely worth your time (and thankfully, not hours of it).

This "private room" is just the back part of the restaurant and it is not private. Then they had a 2 man Karaoke duo singing the whole entire time right next to us! It was unbearable, so loud, not even good karaoke! We could not talk at all, we came to spend time with our family. These things should have been explained before we booked! The food came an hour later and hour and half for the rest of the table, so half of our table was done eating and waiting. They didn't even bring out the kids first, so then kids were starving. The quality of the food is good, but they really need to plan better. Would never bring a large group here. It's fine for a small table.

Nestled in the heart of the arboretum, this bright beacon of goodness awaits you! I had the lemon grass tuna. It was delicious and succulent! Tuna is cold and perfectly cooked though. You can tell how it was seared. They made it a point to make it know that it's "Line-caught"! I didn't know that was a thing. I just care about it being plate served. The peanuts and dressing gave it an Asian flare. When served I thought I would need more...but when done my belly was full. PRO TIP - Double the protein for just a couple dollars more. The tuna steak is sliced and served cold so you have to be okay with that and it comes with rice and quinoa, carrot, cucumber, pickled onion, jalapeño, cilantro, peanut, lemongrass aioli, and a chile vinegar. The other thing I must have is the cucumber lemonade. I don't normally order lemonade but the cucumber flavor is pronounced and it is just so refreshing in this heat. There are both booths and high top tables here as well as a single eaters nook in front of the window. You order and pay at the register so service is efficient if you need to get back to work in a hurry.

I've enjoyed everything from salmon bowl, chicken teriyaki, to create your own, as well as yummy appetizers and their delicious donuts. Avocados have been on point. Towards end of the day, cucumbers might not be as fresh or crunchy, but that's the only constructive critique I have. Everything else has been great. More in specific how quick they have orders out. My only suggestion would be the ability to edit/remove options on an item. For example, no pickled onions, no seaweed salad on the wrap and/or specific bowls, etc. A perfect spot for quick and tasty sushi type craving without sitting at a restaurant.
