Came to Newark Buffet to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday. Sure, she could have gone anywhere else but to her, Newark Buffet checks off all of her cravings in one place. Win Win, right?? Here you will find a number of items ranging from your typical Chinese food, an assortment of sushi, hot soups, BYO Mongolian noodle station, fresh fruit, & a variety of desserts. I'm typically not a fan of buffets but even I was able to find a few things I enjoyed. Some of the standout items IMO: -Crawfish -Boiled Sea Snails -Imitation Crab & Egg Drop Soup -Fried Chicken -Grilled Fish Customer service was on point- nothing overbearing but absolutely attentive in the staff clearing our plates in a timely manner. Everyone was friendly and I'd like to say a majority of our party left happy. 4 stars overall.

I'm down here with my crew on location in the East Bay Fremont area and it's quitin time, so we need to find food for dinner. I always favored buffets for these occasions with multiple people with different tastes, cause everybody gets what they want for a reasonable price. So we pull into this Newark Buffet. From the name you can't tell it's Chinese, but it is. Not like Happy garden or something. We get seated just fine and we all get just water to drink. Buffets are instant food, no waiting to get orders taken or waiting for the food to arrive to the table, just go up and load up your plate! The food here is pretty much standard Chinese buffet selection, with all the standard dishes, like broccoli beef, the general and his chicken along with seafood shell fish, like clams and mussels. All the food was tasty and still hot, no real orphan dishes, you know, the ones that nobody wants and just sits there unwanted? Desserts were the standard almond cookies and some cake like things I didn't try. Everybody on the crew was happy and filled up and ready for another work day tomorrow.

It's been years since we've been back here. We came here since the price was $14-$16/person. On Valentine day this year, the whole family decided to come here for Chinese food. The group was 22 people. There is no reservation so one of us had to come at 4PM to be on the list for 6PM. The line is so long and people are patiently waiting for good food. The price on this special day is $35/person. Yes, it's a $900 meal. There are quite a few dishes for everyone to enjoy, the nice thing is every dish is actually tasty, not bland at all. I started with some sashimi, salmon, tuna and yellow tail. The rolls are soggy and not crunchy due to being out so long or the seaweed wraps not too crunchy. The chicken wings are my favorite, very hot and tasty. The oysters in sauce are great too. I'm sure there are something good for everyone regardless how picky they are. The hot and sour soup I like. The fruit and dessert bar has plenty of things to choose from. The ice cream station is crowded with kids and adults too. There's a cook to order station like in many Mongolian buffet, you choose your noodles, meats, seafood, veggies and they will stir fry for you which is excellent. There are clams, shrimps, snow crab legs which are gone very quickly but refilled fast too. Anyhow, for a few people the $35 is good if you all like these food, but for 20-22 people, $900 can order many excellent dishes in a good Chinese restaurant. We may not be back here for another fee years although the food is great the service is very attentive and fast.

Didn't take a lot of pics. Food was mediocre.

Wanted to eat crabs and oysters which World gourmet always have on a regular day. So disappointed, they only had shrimps and fish. Went today on a Friday, lunch for $18.99, so disappointed. Service 7/10, we were barely there an hour and they served the check. Ambiance was ok, casual dining, not a lot of people. Lots of tables available, place is clean. Won't dine here anymore. I like world gourmet because of the oysters and king crab legs on a regular weekday lunch for $19.99. Lesson learned, at least I tried them. Also, their chicken wings were kinda tasted old, not fresh. They have chicken feet but it had no taste and It was hard. They have a nice sushi section.

Solid buffet; worth the price for the crab legs and sushi alone. $30 for dinner but had to wait about an hour to get seated - they have a pretty standard ticketing and call system, i guess it shouldn't be a surprise that there's a long wait given the price. Crab legs were surprisingly good for a buffet; decently flavorful, not too small, not dry, and they stayed stocked. The sushi wasn't bad either and they also had sashimi, was pleasantly surprised - not the best sushi in the bay but again surpassed expectations. The rest of the buffet is pretty standard but still good all around.

Thank you Newark Buffet for keeping this restaurant on top of class. When i feel the crave for seafood, this is my go to restaurant. Or just want to hang out with friends who have limited food habits like vegan eaters, seafood eater (like me), or an ice cream. The service is always great! I see familiar faces of waiter/waitress so i know the management is superb! This one time when a friend of mine got a flu she loves the Newark Buffet hot and sour soup. It's always fun for me to go here.

First time trying this place. Located in a strip mall with easy parking. Huge place with lots of variety. Staff were quick, efficient, and cleaned the tables of empty plates quickly. While there was a lot of variety, overall the food was just ok. Standard buffet fare with added extra hibachi station. Came for lunch on a weekday so was $19 per person. Dinner is more and perhaps better options.

Wait time was 20 minutes. Food selection and service was average. Oyster tray never replenished during our visit.

You need to try. This place is the best buffet and the Bay área you're not going to Find Nothing Like, This Around, The Bay Area.

    Jo W.

Not a bad buffet. The best parts are the oysters and the okanimiyaki that they cook in front of you! It's pretty crowded and can be hard to navigate. One of the waiters told my mom in front of me that I'm pretty, which was very sweet

There must be about 9 buffet islands and on the dudes, large sushi counters, grilled items, hot pot---pretty extensive. There's a lot of seafood choices and dessert/fruit selections. They have a big spread with lots of Asian staples including sushi, dim sum, seafood, Chinese dishes, and some American options. Good for groups or when you just want volume and variety. Some things were decent like the honey walnut shrimp, steamed oysters when restocked, and a few of the dim sum items. The sushi bar was average for a buffet and the seafood section had some okay picks if you catch them early. A lot of the hot dishes felt pretty average though -- many were sitting out too long, overcooked, or underseasoned. Quality was hit or miss and not as strong as some of the better buffets in the East Bay. They had a sashimi bar which was nice. Service was fine, nothing memorable. The place gets loud and busy during peak dinner hours. Parking at the mall is easy though. Overall it's a decent 3 star buffet for the price if you're craving quantity and variety in Fremont. Not worth a special trip from far away but does the job locally when the mood hits.

It's in a small plaza with two other buildings but there is plenty of space for parking. It wasn't too busy there when I went so parking and seating were very easygoing. The staff is extremely friendly and are pretty attentive when it comes to meat refills and checking in. The meat selections are limited to beef, chicken, and lamb. They do offer other meats such as some seafood and meatballs at the toppings bar though. I really liked the ingredient variety, some things I don't think you'd find at most hotpot places. Personally the thick cut potato noodles are a favorite for me!! They also have churned ice cream and refillable pineapple & peach juice. I believe they usually have milk tea as well, but it was Out of Order when I came in. Would love to try it out next time though hopefully! I think there were a few minor fixes for maintenance but overall pretty satisfied from the experience! I would love to revisit again in the future, very budget friendly AYCE hotpot in the bay area. You really can't find weekend lunch prices anywhere these days, most places charge dinner pricing all weekend. The pricing is very generous, the food variety is great, and the staff are all so friendly and inviting. For all you can eat it is honestly the best of all the options in my opinion. Cleanliness 11/10: The cleanliness of this place is unmatched by any AYCE restaurant I've eaten at. I had to include a picture of the sauce bar because it is really surprising how there is no splattering around the table. Every surface including the sauce bar and other bars were pristine. AYCE options 10/10: The meat choices are beef, lamb, and chicken. The cuts are a bit lean, but honestly I like that better for ayce since it is a bit cleaner tasting and leaves less oil in the broth. They serve the meats in neat labeled trays which I really like. Wide range of vegetable and other hotpot options that are all ayce, notably king oyster mushroom slices, wood ear mushroom, white fish, beancurd skins, large leaf spinach, bomchoy, a variety of noodles. They also have soft serve ice cream and other deserts and fruit. Sauce bar has a good variety. It has all the options you might find at a place like haidilao. The soy and vinegar are on a separate table in drink dispensers, you might miss it. I recommend for people who are not experienced with hot pot to do a 3:1 ratio of soy sauce and vinegar with a squeeze of lemon as well as some chili, cilantro, green onion, and garlic. The sesame dressing is great on its own with vegetables. Broth 9/10: I recommend spicy or mushroom broth. It is similar to what you would get at a place like haidilao but much less oily, it is still quite spicy and a good amount of oil.
