I've had meals before there. I placed an online order, I called to let them know the pickup time was wrong and asked for 5:15. I arrived at 5:05, the meal was ready and waiting, I picked it up and five minutes later I was at my buddies house. The food was cold, apparently they ignored the time and cooked it anyway. The worst combination chow mien, EVER! My orange chicken was dry, cold and dry. Teriyaki chicken strips over cooked and dry, only ate one. Everything was cold. Apparently they care not of time. I've eaten cold orange chicken the next day, the left overs I threw away. I have no intentions of returning there. Tasty Takeout and Worth a Return Visit My wife and I tried New Young Chow in Springboro and really enjoyed our meal. She had the sweet and sour chicken, and I had the beef chow mein -- both were delicious and full of flavor. We also ordered the crab rangoon, which wasn't quite up to par compared to the rest of the meal, but not a dealbreaker. Overall, great food and solid service. First impression your typical Chinese restaurant located within a strip with multiple other businesses shared parking lot, however no issues finding parking. The inside was a bit cluttered and small but looked very clean with approximately 7 booths and 2 tables to seat 6. I did call in my order and the lady that took my order was wast to deal with and even honored with free crab racoon coupon from online with a bill over $40.00. So be sure to checkout the website to score coupons. When I called in I was on a brief hold which was expected for a Friday night. Was told thr food would be ready in 20 minutes and it was ready and bagge up for me. When I did pick up no one greeted me I believe because only 2 was working which I was fine with. Now for the good part. I am pretty disappointed in my self for driving past this place for the last 15 years. I have missed out. For $62.00 we got 1. 4 Teriyaki chicken skewers $7.55 they were pretty small and chewy but the taste was great 2. 6 Crab rangoon free with our order. Full of cream cheese and garlic dipped in sweet n sour. Probably the best take out Rangoon we have had 3. Mongolian Chicken $10.95 with white rice the container was overflowing with green onion, onions, chicken, and a sweet oniony sauce thar hit all the right taste buds. They did mix in the bamboo shots or whatever they are called which I am. Ot a fan of so will ask next time for none, but they were easy to pick out. 4. Sweet n sour chicken $10.95 another big portion and meaty with a golden breading 5. Combination lo mein $10.95 chicken, shrimp, and pork. Again big enough to feed 2 or 3 and really good 6. Pork in garlic sauce $ 9.55 one of my favorite dishes I love how crunchy the broccoli is and tender the prok was. read more

My first bad experience was earlier this year when I found a piece of metal in my food. I called the restaurant but nobody offered to replace my meal or even apologize. The individual on the phone said "ok" and hung up. Many months later I gave them another chance and they gave me the wrong carry out order . I had to drive all the way back to pick up the correct order . Again, no apology, no offer to comp the meal for the inconvenience. I won't be back due to multiple bad experiences. read more

New Young Chow is probably the best place in Springboro to get Chinese. It seems to be one of the few. They have a simple menu. It has many Chinese favorites. They have a dining room but this is best for takeout. I had the Young Chow Bean Curd. It's about $8 for the regular portion. This is the spiciest vegetarian item on the menu, but it's not that hot really. It has the usual Chinese food vegetables like broccoli, peppers, and water chestnuts. The dish comes with a spicy sauce made with chili pepper. I was the only one in the dining room for this meal. It was quiet except for a few pickup orders. This is my favorite Chinese food place in the southern dayton area. The lady at the pickup counter is super nice each time! The kitchen puts together platter orders super quickly too! I believe the owner and her family are the sole employees and the food is always made fast, hot and fresh. You can tell they make it with love Because of my job I have had the opportunity to be in the kitchen and it it spotless! Another bonus ! I'm not usually a fan of Chinese food (more of a Thai or Indian fan), but this place is really good. I highly recommend the garlic shrimp and scallops, and my husband likes the General Tso's. The dinner portions here are enormous (at least for takeout). My husband gets 2 meals out of one order, and I get 3 to 4. So plan for lots of leftovers. read more

Their entrees are very good. They are better than the close competitors in our area. I like the general tso's or Mongolian beef. My children love the beef lo mein. Always flavorful, fresh and generously sized entrees. I don't prefer their appetizers and sides though. I stopped by on a weekend last month and couldn't find a seat. I remember thinking, hey, this place must be good. Sadly, last evening was singularly unpleasant. For a Thursday evening, at 8:30, the place was empty. Oh---kay..... I had brought a book for good company. My order was for fried dumplings and Mongolian Beef. It caught my attention that the employee asked several times whether I wanted to buy a drink; and that she had to get another person to compute the sales tax. Moreover, I was not offered a detailed receipt -- just the charge slip with the total. Not wanting my food to be abused, I didn't push it. I was not spoken to again, such as when the food was served. Nor any check-back, nor any water refill offered, nor when I got up to leave. Service was reasonably prompt (remember, no one else in house). Entree served before the appetizer, hmmmm. Oh--key, good dumplings take time; bad ones do too, btw. The dumplings were fair, served with an unidentified mystery sauce. The rice, dry, as if kept over heat for hours. The main dish, a mistake. Singularly sufficient to keep me traumatized from Mongolian Beef for a long time. I found the meat (beef I hope) to be, well, chewy......... very chewy. Not gristle, but disconcertingly related. The droopy scallions were limp, resembling well-boiled spinach (sorry if you prefer overcooked food, I don't). The onions and other vegatables (bamboo shoots, I think) were reasonably disguised behind the "sauce". If there were any ginger or garlic used, I could not detect it. For the first time in my many years, I chose to leave the leftovers. Given the crowd the previous week, I wonder if I hit a really off night. Your results may vary. read more

Got takeout here the other night. The order consisted of wontons in Szechuan sauce, steamed meat dumplings, a variety of sushi, and black pepper chicken. My part of the order consisted of the steamed dumplings and black pepper chicken. The dumplings were overcooked and tasted like the were precooked and just rewarmed. The black pepper chicken, the flavor was dilute and also tasted like it had been sitting around. I did sample the Szechuan dumplings and the sauce on those was not to my liking. The dumpling part of them also seemed extraordinarily soft. I inquired of the person who ate the sushi who said it was okay, but the flavor was similar to what you get from a sushi buffet or grocery store and the rice seemed a bit dry. He did finish the sushi but the rest of it ended up in the trash. I can count on one hand the places where I refused to finish the food, and to have that happen three times in one meal sets a new record. I can't say for certain what the issues are here, but they abound. While I might give restaurants numerous chances to amend the situation, I really doubt I will ever come back here. This place is consistently good for takeout. We've tried the spring rolls and crab rangoon, the pad thai, and several of the entrees as well as the sushi and have liked almost everything. I could tell that the few things we didn't like was a result of just not liking them and having nothing to do with the preparation. I also like that they have some unusual things not found on the normal small-town chinese menu like Mala style and a yellow curry. Definitely the best place for Chinese takeout around. read more

This is my second time here. The crab rangoons were a tad better, not as greasy as last time. This time I stuck with shrimp and broccoli. It was alright. The broccoli was a bit undercooked. The egg rolls were crispy, like I love them but also bland. I'm not super impressed. But it's edible. I steered clear of the sushi. I googled it first and saw that they had sushi so I was sold. The ambiance is blah. Very tiny, in a strip mall. I asked several questions before ordering my sushi and shrimp Pad Thai. So imagine my surprise when they came out different than I'd asked. I've never had pad thai so It's my mistake. It said rice noodles and I thought it was going to be the tiny wiggly ones I've had and not wide and flat. And since I specifically asked several questions about the noodles I thought I was getting the kind I wanted. Nope. But again. My fault since I have never had pad thai I didn't know what to expect. They were ok. The sever fixed my sushi mistake. And told me how to order it next time to make sure it was right. The foods not bad. But I'm disappointed in the sushi. Not fab. Edible though. My son got his favorite shrimp and broccoli. I'm jealous, his food was way better than mine. I suppose I might eat here again. Definitely the best option here in springboro area. I have had the sesame chicken and very good flavor and presentation of food. The people who run it are nice and seem to have regulars that come often....which tells u that they are at least consistent in their quality of food. This is the best Chinese food around! When my house craves Chinese food we drive here no matter what. Even on those days when nobody wants to do anything we will come and get dinner. There is no competition in the area. My husband and I make it a point to try several restaurants before settling on one as a favorite and no matter where we live New Young Chow just keeps pulling us back in. I've been going to this restaurant, for lunch, for years. The food is great, but it's gotten to the point that the service is so bad, that I don't ever want to go back. I gave it another try today, and although my co-worker and I were the only ones in the restaurant, we weren't even acknowledged for the 10 minutes we were there. So we got up and left, since our lunch break is only so long. This isn't the first time this has happened, and unfortunately I doubt it will be the last.
