It worked well enough for my purposes, I told myself. The built-in phono stage wasn't exactly usable, but I had my own external preamp that I liked, and there were times the sound would cut out if something got ever-so-slightly jostled, but then it stopped producing sound from the left channel altogether and the quirks stopped seeming so cute. I called Jude and described the problem. He picked the amp up and returned it sounding better than ever. I now have a restored amp that sounds great for less than I paid for it in its rusty, loose condition years ago. I would note that the quoted time frame was the Sunday following a Wednesday pickup, and it did take some phone tag to get the unit back, which ended up being two weeks after I first handed it off. My guess is that because we live in totally different parts of the city, Jude was trying to time the repair relative to when he could feasibly come my way, and from what he told me, the repair was somewhat more complicated than expected once he got around to it. Notably, this was during the stretch of winter when there were the two huge storms within a couple of weeks of each other, so that didn't help either. Delays like this obviously seem inherent to a one-person home operation, and I wouldn't have expected such a quick turnaround if not for the original quote (and other reviews mentioning quick turnarounds). He was always friendly and polite on the phone even as I worried I was pestering him. Overall, I felt the service lived up to my expectations. Given that he's a genuinely nice person providing a specialized service for reasonable prices and will pick up and drop off your gear for you (even if you don't live anywhere near Flatbush), I can't complain--just unfortunate timing that I found myself without a working stereo system out during a period when I was barely going outside. Still, I have a feeling it'll be sounding great for many seasons to come.

He treated it with the kind of respect and precision you just don't see much anymore. He was knowledgeable, communicative, and clearly passionate about old-school audio gear. He diagnosed the issue quickly, explained what was going on in plain language, and the turnaround was faster than I expected. Most importantly -- it sounds fantastic now. Warm, clean, and alive again. He offered to pick it up and drop it off from my home. Instead we met halfway on a street corner! It felt a little strange just handing over my vintage baby to a complete stranger. But I knew from from his warm smile, and knowledge of the gear that I was in good hands. It took under a week and he did a fantastic job!! If you care about your vintage equipment and want someone who truly understands these pieces, Jude is your guy. Highly recommended.

We had a good experience with this company last year, so we specifically requested them from our insurance provider. We got all the paperwork in place but we just couldn't get them to commit to an appointment. When I finally got through after six or seven voicemails, Patrick insisted that he wasn't CCed and so didn't know that the COI was approved. I was able to show him otherwise and he conceded. A lot of back and forth happened with them saying the tech would squeeze us in the next day. But when we called again to confirm, they said he couldn't after all. Patrick then became unnecessarily rude and hung up. We have never had this issue before with any company and were completely surprised. I managed to talk with someone else who said she would personally have Ryan (tech) call me before 12 pm on Monday. I trusted her, but of course, that call never came. Our leak is now in bad shape, so I called at 11:22 am (July 7th), only for the same lady to tell me that she was just about to call me and that Ryan told him he was completely booked until the week. Her story changed mid-conversation when she said that Ryan would be available on Wednesday. That's when I knew that they were just messing around and had not one ounce of professionalism. She proceeded to say that they were booked for weeks and that we should look for someone else. Why string us along? Why get us to go through the trouble of a COI, Worker's Compensation, and indemnity documents when they knew they were busy and couldn't send someone anyway? Why say that the tech would call us and then not follow through? Think twice before working with them. They do not keep their word.

An individual greeted us at the door, spoke to us through a slot in the door, took our laptop while we were standing outside in the cold. We were unable to enter the business like any other business. The place was situated like a fortress. I had delt with this business previously, and what we experienced this time was surprising. My first visit, I was able to enter the business, there was a counter where I was able to place my laptop, and spoke with the technician face to face. This time it was totally different and disgusting, to say the least. He might be an excellent technician, with cost very reasonable, but the business appearance is unacceptable. This is a small community business I would love to support, but the customer service is very poor. Because of this, I would not recommend this business to anyone because of this. Mr. Jean, has to do better than this.

I was extremely upset and overwhelmed at the prospect of not getting my work done in time. Fortunately, Jean saved the day. I took my computer into his shop at 5:30pm on Thursday. He called me at 8:00pm that evening to let me know what was going on and to give me a price estimate ($150). He let me know I could pick it up any time after noon the following day. I stopped by at 1pm, and had my laptop back in perfect working order at exactly the price he gave me. In fact, my computer works better/faster than it did before I took it in, and he cleaned the keyboard and screen as well. I am so relieved and happy, and extremely thankful for Jean's swift and hard work. FYI- it's cash only, there's an ATM down the street with (IIRC) a $1.75 fee.
