I walk in and I say hello. I walk towards the shoe department and browse. No employees come up to me and I'm in the need to buy a pair. I walk to the Jean area and find a pair but I only find one in my size no other color to choose from. I walk around holding the jeans in my hand walk by an employee doesn't say a word to me. I look at the Dodger tshirts and I decide to put the jeans back and walk out. I get to the door and leave and both employee don't say a word to me. They were not busy. Amazing service and a great selection of the clothes and styles I love to wear. Everything was reasonably priced and there were a lot of items on sale. I loved the available colors and sizes of Levi's jeans and they had dressing rooms available for those who want to try items on before purchasing. This is the kind of store I would have loved to spend more time shopping in. I definitely will when I am feeling up to more adventure. There is a whole wall of branded Dodger's gear, a wall of JanSport backpacks, lots of brown, black and red plaid flannels, stuffed animal toys (like a bright blue whale!) and lots of fun printed t-shirts and jackets. The folks who were there helped to carry things to different parts of the store for me (since I wasn't able to on my crutches) and they were great about checking in just the right amount as I browsed. I was able to find the perfect pair of jeans and I left feeling really welcomed. I will be returning soon to check out more of the offerings very soon. Honestly a hidden gem. Lots of skatewear and American wear like Ben Davis, Levis, The North Face, Dickies, and more. Just tons of jeans and fits. A good selection of shoes including Uggs, Toms, New Balance, Nike, and more. Just really fun to look at and ask to try on. I also really liked seeing that they sell skate decks, trucks, and wheels. They also have things like necklaces, earrings, hats, winter gloves, and more. The sales also can get quite good here if you get lucky. I ran into the owner who was nice and welcoming. They also have a few employees to help too who were very pleasant. Overall, this place is massively underrated. read more

This place is the worst place to buy clothes far as return or exchange. I bought a few blank shirts which was about 3 for 13.99 so roughly 3 to 4 dollar a shirt... I needed the blank shirt for some prints I was going to do real quickly for a one time last min event. I washed the shirts and one of them had 2 holes in the sleeve. Not a big deal as I went in the exchange it, they tell me that I can't exchange it because I wash it. Mind you I bought this shirt the day before. Sorry but for a 1.00 to 1.25 dollar shirt and out of good customer service you would think that they would exchange that specially when they are the ones make the shirt. SO for me, I give 2 shits less about the f%cking money its the f%cking principle of customer service and my time in which is way more than that. So be aware of these clowns when you buy from them. read more

I noticed wherever I went there were young men seemingly "working" near me and at one point the owner was even "working" near me as i checked out things toward the far end of the store. i'm not into being followed around as i peruse stores. the place also doesn't take returns. definitely never returning myself. read more

I passed by this shop randomly and saw it was advertising dickies and nike....went in and found a gold mine!!! The shop is run by some very sweet Korean owners who were very helpful. They had a decent selection of basics, skatewear, bags and accessories, and many popular brands such as Thrasher, Vans, Dickies, Hershel, Nike, Adidas, Champion, and Levi's. I spent about 45 minutes in there browsing and it was a great experience. But the icing on the cake - they had Nike shoes that have been discontinued and my boyfriend and I have been searching all over creation for!!!! We didn't want to pay $300 for them on eBay or StockX so I was elated to find them here for retail price. It was such a GEM to find them, will be surprising my boyfriend with them later. The sweet lady helping me out sensed my excitement and wiped the box down for me (I think they had been sitting up high for a while and were dusty) before checking me out. Going to stop coming here. Every single time it's a problem with the owner. We checked out and bought over $200 worth of clothes. She then sent her employee to my car when I was already in it and asked to check my bags. The employee then takes both bags inside and the owner then goes through each item in the bags and says we didn't pay for two a couple items. After her going through each thing and checking the receipt, the employee missed two jackets. Obviously we paid for them after this mistake as it wasn't our fault they werent rang up while checking out. She was literally standing by the kid checking us out so why wait until we were loaded in the car practically ready to drive off? Every single time we come here it's uncomfortable because she makes you feel like you're stealing and watches your Every move. read more

This is an interesting store. Located next to Lancer's in the same parking lot as Hobby Lobby and Todd R Us. It's kind of a hodge podge of items, from shoes, clothes, skateboards, backpacks and lids. They carry higher end items that would appeal to skaters, like Vans, Billabong, Nike, Dickies. As well as, low cost, off brand t-shirts, sweats, baseball shirts. And also medical field uniforms. They seem to have a pretty large selection of skateboards and wheels too. All items are both men's and women's... As well as some youth. The staff is pretty hands off, but if you hunt them down, they'll help you find whatever it is you're looking for. My biggest peeve is that they only offer store credit on returns. Most items are final sales. So be absolutely sure what you are buying, you are going to like. They do have dressing rooms..so I highly recommend trying things on before you buy! I'm a simple person, so I'm drawn to the inexpensive plain t-shirts and sweatshirts. So it's a no bassinet for me. Definitely worth checking out. read more

My mom went in and saw a Fanny pack that was advertised as a sale item. Owner charged her pull price and my mom didn't notice till she got home and checked her receipt. Mother decided to go back the next day and the owner said although the sales price is on the floor AND advertised as such, it scanned as regular price. So she stated that she was unable to refund her money for the sale price. My mom told her that it wasn't good customer service and the owner replied, "Since it's Christmas, I won't argue with a customer" PLEASE LADY. How about since you messed up and can't have you or your staff check your items on the floor, you should be nicer and take the blame. It should be sold as advertised. WORST experience i've ever had. Came to exchange a piece of clothing at New Star and the owner Sue repeatedly accused me of wearing them and told me I was lying. She then raised her voice at me as I told her to calm down because there were other customers in the store. HOW EMBARRASSING. She then brought my boyfriend into this who had NOTHING to do with the situation. I've never experienced someone so rude to me and accusing their customer of lying. I didn't end up getting an exchange I left upset and knowing that I am never coming back to this place again. Customer service SUCKS and the owner is terrible. I don't recommend this place to anyone. I am all for supporting local businesses, but this company is so desperate to keep their doors open that they have resorted to lying. The other negative reviews are accurate. Appalling customer service, no oversight, no accountability, and the final draw was when they suddenly changed their gift card policy and refused to honor a gift card issued in the past with the former policy. This place definitely beats out the likes of Tilly's and other stores that sell Levi's, Dickies, and other name brand clothing. We came for a pair of shoes, Levi's and Dickies. The pants are priced very well. Dickies were $25 a pair and the Levi's were $40 a pair. Although I do remember getting the same pair of Levi's at Sears for $30. Their shoe selection sucks. None of what my husband wanted they had in his size and he needed shoes desperately. Clothes selection is good, shoe selection sucks. It was also hotter than hell in there, they don't seem to believe in air conditioning and thought that keeping one of the front doors opened would help bring in a breeze. Myself and the other customers kept wiping sweat away from our faces. I've heard nightmares regarding returning items here too, luckily we've never had to do that. Came in bought a pair of Levi's. Couldn't exchange the jeans because I didn't have my receipt. All tags were on the jeans. Even had the Stamp card that showed I came in the day I bought the jeans. Even the time and how much I spent and the owner I'm assuming still said no. It's just funny that bigger stores such as target and Walmart don't even have a no receipt no exchange policy. Love this store. One of my favorites - it's huge and a jackpot for Dickies, thermals, flannels, hats, denim. (They have tons of other things too). It feels like such a hidden gem. We have shopped there several times and the people who work there are always helpful - one woman in particular has been so amazing, helping me with sizing and even letting me know at checkout that I had accidentally selected one pair of Dickies that was a different style from all the others I was getting. They have even given us a free hand sanitizer and a box of masks - so nice. Kind of love that it's a hidden gem but still recommend it to my friends because it's so good. read more

WARNING: THIS STORE SELLS IMITATION/DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS AND WLL NOT REFUND YOU. I have known about this New Star since high school (about 4 years) having gone to John Burroughs, and I always heard rumors of them selling knock off products because the designs do not show up on original brand websites or stores. I rarely ever shopped here because of the rumors, but I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt when I heard they were selling Kappa pants (pants I have been looking for for over a year). Once I got home I tried on my pants for a longer extent and realized that ONE LEG was visually & clearly LONGER and WIDER than the other. I went in with the receipt looking to at least get store credit for a defective item that costs $80 (the receipt does say no returns) and was unable to get any money back or store credit because I did not have the tags. When I asked the OWNER how can I get my money back for a DEFECTIVE ITEM that they sold me, she told me to "contact Kappa" and to "Google it". The only offer she proposed was an exchange of the same size SO THAT THEY COULD RESELL THE DEFECTIVE PAIR (they did not have any more pants in my size nor would I have accepted the offer either way) I'm sure nobody wants to receive this type of Customer Service or run the risk of getting a defective/imitation item. Fortunately, this was my last time stepping foot in this poorly ran establishment and I hope that this review helps prevent another theft by New Star Burbank and saves someone their hard earned money. I had questions about other shoes and she said to pick one because she "didn't have all day." She didn't even end up getting the shoes for me and had another employee do it. This place has ok prices for some of their clothing, and we've been here often, but Never again. Bought a pair of sweat shorts and after washing them and putting them on, noticed a hole in one of the pockets. Went in today to exchange for another pair, and the lady rudely refused. Said that it was my fault when obviously the stitching came apart at the seams. I like the clothes here, but she was so incredibly rude to me that I will not be back, ever. A mindset of scarcity keeps this from being a positive experience. Not everyone is a shoplifter that will steal something if they take more than 4 items into the dressing room. I can overlook the broken glass in the dressing room area, it must be an accident, but the owner, I presume, doesn't care. She's lingering near the door to stop criminals. I completely believe the claims on being followed around the store. No returns and they wrap the white canvas shoes in plastic wrap so our dirty, dirty hands don't ruin them. Relax a little and you might make us want to shop here instead of having to because you have a good selection of Levi's. No bargains that I can see, however. Every year I buy about 50 pairs of Levis, Black, straight, jeans from New Star. I got back to town, after being on the road and took a pair of jeans back to exchange because the zipper was screwing up. Since I buy so many jeans there i did not think it would be an issue, Sadly, I was mistaken. They said it was a few days past the return period and the jeans had been worn. Hello??? how would I know the zipper was screwing up? I am sure there are other stores, like Kohls, who sell Levis and don't give loyal customers grief. I figure i spend $38 for a pair of jeans and times that by 50. they are losing a few bucks from a loyal customer while they pander to the skater kids who steal from them. makes me smile. read more
