Every year I buy about 50 pairs of Levis, Black, straight, jeans from New Star. I got back to town, after being on the road and took a pair of jeans back to exchange because the zipper was screwing up. Since I buy so many jeans there i did not think it would be an issue, Sadly, I was mistaken. They said it was a few days past the return period and the jeans had been worn. Hello??? how would I know the zipper was screwing up? I am sure there are other stores, like Kohls, who sell Levis and don't give loyal customers grief. I figure i spend $38 for a pair of jeans and times that by 50. they are losing a few bucks from a loyal customer while they pander to the skater kids who steal from them. makes me smile. read more

First things first: I walk in, I don't see a single worker. I actually thought that it was closed or about to close but then I saw other customers. About ten minutes goes by and I find some Dickies pants that I needed for my work. It took me FOREVER to find the right size. They are all over the place. Plus I couldn't find a worker for the dressing room. Didn't know if I could help myself or something? I figured if I had to find everything on my own the. I could get a dressing room on my own. After awhile I finally get to the check out and these two guys were chatting it up and when I approach them they look at me and then each other as if it was so hard to just check me out so I can leave. I like that they have variety but MY GOD, finding an employee is like finding a needle in a haystack. If it wasn't for my work and the cheap-ish prices then I would never come here. read more

I give this ZERO stars and here's why! I PHONED today to ask about their line of "DICKIES" clothing. Specifically, the WORK T-SHIRT with a pocket on it. I was quoted $24 !!!!! for ONE T-SHIRT. YIPES! I was just across the parking lot today at the OSH store (Orchard Supply Hardware). THEY have a large line of Dickies clothing and i thought i could get a better price at New Star. OSH's price is $17.99/ for a 2-packof Men's Extra Large durable work T-shirts. What a disparity! If I even set foot in this store it would be to confirm that I am comparing the same product. I will not shop at this store at all. They have all they items overpriced . They have no customer service at all, starting with the people in charge of the store. ( Asian ladies). They have the wrong prices on some of the items and they expect the customer to pay more at the cashier with no explanation. We just got a long face when we asked to honor the price on the Reef sandals. We did not even get and answer, they just change the price of the sandals and put them back on the sandls section. I could'nt believe it. At least honor the price that you have on the sandls. I went to Tilly's and bought them there. It is the principal what counts!!!! not the price. They need us more than what we need them. There is plenty to choose from....so next time you think about going to NEW STAR THINK TWICE. We will not recommend this place for shopping. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. I bought some Dickie pants at the Sun Valley location and unfortunately they didn't fit when I got home. Due to the Covid situation, we cannot try things in store. Which is fine BUT THEY SHOULD BE MORE UNDERSTANDING WITH EXCHANGES. They didn't fit but was told they had my size at the Burbank location and that I could exchange them. The pants were looked at by the Sun Valley manager when I went to go exchange them there, unfortunately they didn't have my size. When I went to the Burbank location, THE MANAGER SUE WAS INCREDIBLY RUDE. She was persistently accusing me of wearing it and said the stickers needed to be attached correctly. All the IMPORTANT tags were on right and mind you the Sun Valley manager said they were exchangeable. Sue even had the audacity to tell me to CALM DOWN AND DON'T GET OFFENDED when it was HER who was overreacting over a sticker. The most important tags with the size were perfect, I didn't know the side sticker with "original fit" was so damn taxing in the retail world. AND I WORK RETAIL. Sue is the most rude person i've encountered, so incredibly incompetent. I know the New Star cooperation is owned by a family and honestly it is so EMBARRASSING that that is who they choose to be the face of their business. A lot of the New Star managers i've encountered are completely incompetent but Sue takes the cake! My family, friends, and I are loyal customers of New Star; but not anymore! I'm making sure they don't get business from anyone I know. You're getting swap meet quality stuff, might as well go to the swap meet, Sue won't be there! read more

Called the store looking for a pair of Dickies shorts. The clerk checked the racks and said it was available for pick up. Their selection is great and the shorts were priced $3 cheaper than in other stores I have visited. Great place! read more

I needed scrubs for work last minute and everyone else was closed, New Star was open late, carried what I needed, actually they had a better selection than I expected and I got a set of scrubs for work in the ER tomorrow morning at half the price of most other places!!! I always like the selection of clothing but the return policy is junk. I bought several shirts from them, and the next day I washed them. I notice the stitching on one of the shirts was coming undone really bad. It has never happened before. I NEVER even got to ware the shirt. I took it back with my receipt and explained the problem. The aisan lady behind the counter told me there is nothing she can do, because I tampered with the shirt. At $25 a shirt that's B.S. I have no use for a falling apart shirt. All i wanted was an exchange. This review is all can do despite being ripped off. They should change there name to One star for their bad customer service. read more
