Cumin boiling lamb

Had family dinner night here recently. We wanted Chinese and was hoping to find something regionally specific to the area of Chinese that they were familiar with and I suggested this place. I've always wanted to go here, but never really found the time. Now is the time! Chonging is the right place to go to in this part of town if you are looking for Szechaun spicy food. Although we felt that the flavours were a bit blended and not quite as spicy as we were looking for. The food was spicy hot, but not quite the Szechuan peppercorn spicy. The kind that makes your tongue and lips numb kinda spicy. We had thousand year old duck egg soup with melon, Spicy green Cho sum vegetables with szechuan pepper corns, Eggplant dish, Boiling beef and a Chinese bacon with vegetables and chili peppers. I can't name or even attempt to write the proper names of the dishes. I'll have to ask the daughter unit about that and get her to help me write these descriptions more often. The food was tasty, but we kinda felt that it was adjusted a teensy bit for others who maybe aren't used to this style of food. But if you want spicy, hot spicy, they can make it that way. It's just not the same kinda spicy we wanted. We will come back though as the food is delicious and probably the best thing in this area for Chinese food in general.

Didn't feel very fresh and felt on the unhealthy side, as far as Chinese food goes.

As native people in Szechuan, this one is really good. The best Szechuan restaurant that I have been to. Soooo good!

I went back, and can't say enough how amazing this place is! It's very quant and intimate. We came…read morefor dinner and thankfully made resos. The idea is to share plates, and they recommended 2-3 plates per person. We did just that for the 4 of us. I'm vegetarian but had a ton of options to choose from. We started with their Shnacks, including sichuan smashed cucumbers, mala soy vinaigrette, salted napa cabbage, sesame dressing, and crispy tofu, garlic sweet soy, water chestnut. These are all tasty and had different elements of flavor. These cucs are classic and had a kick. The Napa cabbage were perfectly sliced and I would drink the dressing. The tofu is legit! Perfectly crispy and soft inside. But that sauce is the shit! Adding more to the tofu as it cools on your plate is a must! We then partook in their Petits Cadeaux, which was the vegetarian potstickers and steamed pork dumplings. These veg were slightly fired and huge. They had so much flavor and paired with the chilli oil, I was so pleased! We then got some vegetables which paired nicely with everything. You must get the king pea tips, garlic, shaoxing and glazed crispy eggplant, gochugaru leek & carrot, sesame salt. The pea tips melt in your mouth. They are so delicate and warm. The eggplant is the most unique way I've had eggplant! Such a good side. Service is incredible. Our server was so helpful and on top of everything! The girls had a few drinks which were all unique and fancy AF! Loved this place this time!

All I can say is that everything at this restaurant was on point…read more Unfortunately, there was horrible traffic (due to the Marathon closures), and we were 1/2 hour late! But the wonderful hostess accommodated us, and I am so glad that she did! I cannot remember everything that we ate, but I know we got pork belly, dumplings, and duck rice cakes. OMG - everything was perfectly and authentically prepared! The wait staff was wonderful and so helpful with ordering and suggestions for eating. What a wonderful experience! We cannot wait to go back to Vancouver and eat at Bao Bei AGAIN!!
