Since I have to give a rating in order to post they will get one star don't even deserve that don't know how you can go in there with two people order two meals and then screw that up! I ordered mushroom chicken and they bring me chicken and some gravy with no mushrooms because my husband ordered a meal with no mushrooms. And they didn't make his meal at all will never go back this is the second or third time they've screwed up! read more

Ate here last night for the first time...tried other Chinese restaurants in Redding...this was very tasty, excellent service and I will be back. Had Hong Kong crispy noodles with shrimp; generous portions, hot (temperature) and very tasty. Nicely decorated, quiet atmosphere and the temperature was just right even though it was over 100* outside. Didn't freeze while eating my dinner like some restaurants can get in the summer time around here. Glad I found this on yelp...I will be back!!!! read more

My go to take out for Chinese food in Redding. Mostly just basic Cantonese style done absolutely right. I'm not concerned about wait times as I always get takeout. I used to make a 25 mile round trip to the west side bypassing lots of other Chinese restaurants now with new China 2 it's much more convenient. read more

Got take out from New China yesterday. $50.00 for two. I ordered Lemon Chicken and Deep Fried Prawns, while my wife ordered Vegetarian Fried Tofu with Noodles and Egg Foo Young. My Lemon Chicken was cold, as if it had been cooked some time ago and left around the kitchen until an order came in on which they could toss the dried out cold chicken pieces. But, what was worse, was what they passed off as "Fried Prawns", but which was fried batter. Basically the only thing missing was the prawns. Look at pictures. Essentially this was fried batter with a smidge of shrimp, which was very hard to find buried in the deep fried batter. To continue, my wife's vegetarian dish had meat in it, which was a deal breaker for her. When she called them to notify them of the issue, they did say they were sorry. That leaves the Egg Foo Young, which I was afraid to touch for fear it contained no egg. New China used to be good. We have not ordered there recently, but the order yesterday, if it represents the way things are there now, was not up to any standards. $50.00 wasted. read more

Apparently decent food is all these people think it takes to run a successful business, because their service left MUCH to be desired. My brothers & I walked in at 2pm on a Tuesday, & the server left us standing there for a couple minutes before seating us at one of the 10/15 empty tables. He didn't give us any menus & continued to serve other customers until I got up & asked him for some. 2 minutes later he comes & asks if we are ready. Really?! He also never even took our drink orders. When we handed him the menus he snatched them from us. Okaaay.. The food came out somewhat promptly & was somewhat decent. I got the War Won Ton Soup, 1 of my brothers got Broccoli Chicken while the other got Sweet & Sour Chicken. All of our chicken was rubbery in texture. Other than the chicken it was ok. Also, apparently in Redding its ok to do food prep seated in the dining area? There were two servers prepping veggies in the dining area in front of all the customers. How unprofessional & unhygienic is that? I'm from Washington where our food safety standards don't allow for that, especially without gloves. Disgusting. While I appreciate that this place was open during Covid, that's about as far as the appreciation goes. We ordered pork foo young which appeared to just be stir fried veggies. My husband inquired why our order was incorrect and the older woman in charge told him it was "patties" and "just take it." I had to call and speak with her as well and was treated just as rudely. She started yelling at someone and a man answered and was able to answer the questions I had and explained it was egg patties underneath all the veg. I've never had foo young like that but we gave it an honest go. The meat in the house special mei fun was so rubbery I couldn't actually bite through it. Overall no one was happy with their meal. My child had pan fried noodles and they were rock hard even under all the sauce. I'm not even sure how that's possible. We will not be returning here. read more

My husband and I stopped into this place coming from Sunriver, OR back home to Napa. Since Napa does NOT have any good Chinese restaurants, and we were hungry...we thought what the heck and Yelped for a restaurant. We are there for the first time. I found the food to be tasty and fresh. The service was wonderful and would go back just because of that. As far as price I thought it was very reasonable especially during these times. With the amount if take-out we saw during our dinner I would definitely recommend this resturant. read more

We have a family tradition to have Chinese food on Christmas Eve. This year we were on a road trip and found New China. The service was very efficient and friendly. It is a small restaurant and casual. Ok, now the good part... the food was amazing! We had the biggest pot stickers that I have ever seen, sweet and sour chicken, Mongolian beef, chow mein and kung Pao chicken. I mentioned this is a yearly ritual for our family.... And let me saw that this was some of the best Chinese food that we have eaten. Next time we are in Redding, we will make a point to go back! read more

Excellent customer service. The waiters and staff were on top of everything, constantly checking in on you. The ambience was nice along with the background music. The decor was clean, beautiful, and nicely furnished. The food was great and priced reasonable. This Chinese restaurant is located closer into town and a definite rival to Peter Chu's Skyroom out on Airport Road. It's conveniently located on Eureka Way, making it a nice place to stop, on your way back from a great time at the lake or when you want a top quality Chinese restaurant experience, closer into town. I was also impressed that all of the staff wore Covid masks to protect their customers. With 22 years in the USAF, I can respect and appreciate people that sacrifice their comfort, for the protection of others. Wish I had thought to take pictures because, the other pictures I saw posted, when looking at this restaurant, didn't give it it's due. The negative comments were far from the truth in our experience. We plan on going back again and again when we feel like Chinese. One of us noted that they had more vegetarian options then at previous Chinese restaurants we visited in town. read more

Went to go back to ask them about the lack of rice and false advertisement and at first the male worker was really nice and agreed to give me the rice and even agreed to remake the meal for free...BUT the female worker ran up and says "nope that's not our website", when it clearly was since I literally ordered from that website! What happened to the New China Restaurant on Eureka Way in Redding? We always got great food there before the pandemic. My family decided to give it a try on Black Friday 2022. We ordered the usual favorites that we always loved. My Dad had the regular Vegetable Chicken that he was always happy to get, but the meat was missing. Instead, it tasted like chewy blubbery, barely cooked chicken skin. We asked the waitress what it was, and she said it was fat and skin, and that's how it comes on the bird. It's nice they removed the feathers cause they also come on the bird. We paid for the meal and took it home to feed the dog. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
