Balance: quality and quantity versus price is perfect! Even on the more inexpensive side. Cleanliness: restaurant was clean bathroom was clean tables were clean. Deliciousness: I am particularly fond of their sweet and sour pork and sesame chicken, the chow mein covers all of the best tastes that you want in a chow mein including savory salty umami. I also appreciate that they put the veggies on top so you can easily remove them if you do not want them. I'll start with the Service, The Service was great Friendly attentive! Oriental Express has the feel of a fast food restaurant! Not somewhere I would want to take my husband for date night. It is what the name implies. Express. The food yuck. Sorry to the owners and folks who love it. I do not like the food. Yes they give you a lot. Too much. I would rather have more flavor than a ton of food on a plate. I got Mongolian Beet with steamed rice. All I could taste was 5 spice seasoning. I do not like that seasoning. This is the 3 rd time eating there nope wont go again. That said I did get the Potstickers. They were good. Although fried. I usual don't eat fried foods. Wasn't expecting fried. Usually steamed. Tasty though. read more

For Chinese food very good. Food seems to have a home made feel and taste, doesn't feel slathered with hydrogenated oil. Vegetables actually have taste to them and the last homemade test also passes, food taste good the next day cold and unheated. Recommend this place! read more

The most food I have seen stuffed into a to go box! We got two meals and it fed three of us and another lunch for us on the leftovers. We got the Mongolian beef which was amazing, the sauce is great and the beef is extremely tender. There was a bunch of onions which was a bit excessive but no complaints especially given the price for 13$. We also got the combo sweet and sour chicken that came with fried rice and chicken chow mein. The chow mein noodles were thick and very very tasty. The sweet and sour chicken was tender as well. If it was not for Yelp I would never have went here! This is what makes Yelp so special. An awesome whole in the wall behind an arco gas station in the middle of no where. read more

This is my favorite spot for Chinese food here in the North state. It's a little hole in the wall conveniently located off I-5 in Shasta Lake City. They offer dine-in but it appears that most of the customers here order for pick up. I rarely ever see people dining in. Some of my favorites are the green bean chicken, pot stickers, and Mongolian beef. I'd say their general chicken is a must try (trust me). The chow mein is the best I've had of all restaurants around here. The portions are pretty big, a box size order of any dish will come filled to the top of the box. The food always comes out fast and fresh. I recently ordered catering from Oriental Express for a party for 50 guests. Each party size tray was fairly priced and my guests LOVED the food. They were able to accommodate my large catering order on time and had everything package securely for pick up. read more

This place is amazing! Prices are budget friendly to feed a family. The portions are extremely filling and you will be taking home leftovers. Servers are kind. They are quick getting food out. Some restaurant booth seating and clean. Don't let the appearance of the outside run you off because you will be missing out! Popped my cherry at this place today. The building is run down, the pics of the food items on the wall are poor quality, and the dine-in section is not inviting. With all that said, the food was plentiful and priced well. I ordered a lunch special and there was plenty of food and I didn't feel jipped. Most importantly, it was MmmMMm goooood! The service wasn't rude like some of the other reviews state, well at least not for me. read more

Love this little corner Chinese restaurant next to the gas station. I call my order in and 10 minutes later it is ready and waiting for me. The food is really tasty and the boxes are so full you can hardly get them shut. There is enough for three meals in one order. Great neighborhood spot. read more

Terrible fried rice it was basically white rice with nothing in it. No vegetable litterally or egg or chicken it was 100% fried for 30 second white rice. Sucks because entree was large and pretty good. read more

Very solid Chinese food We had the snow peas and chicken and General Tso chicken. Huge portions for lunch specials. Generous amount of snow peas. The chow mein is thick noodle which I like with chunks of chicken. Fried rice was just okay. General Tso's chicken was nice and crispy with a sweet and spicy sauce. This is not a steam table place. I love popping into this place and ordering my all-time favorite - almond chicken. THIS PLACE MAKES IT PERFECT EVERY TIME!!!! I have had almond chicken at other places but this place makes it EXACTLY how I like it! And they have LARGE portions too - just ask! My other fav's to eat here are: Generals Chicken and Orange Chicken. Their menu is extensive!!! Many, many choices!!!! And they have updated their indoor eating area and I must say - IT IS REALLY NICE!!! I LOVE WHAT THEY HAVE DONE WITH THE PLACE!!!! This summer I will be eating indoors more often. My first impression of the restaurant is that they had a nice variety of foods and the dining area looked pretty nice. I took pics while waiting for our order to share my observations; i'l' get back to this later. Food is pretty good for the price. Large portions, food seems to be prepared at such a fast pace. The vegetables are placed in each dish rather chunky so it is pretty difficult to serve with the simple plastic utensils that they provide you with. We ordered the almond chicken, the potstickers, the general tao chicken, the vegetable fried rice, the pork chow mein and brocoli beef. My favorite was the potstickers, almond chicken and general tao chicken and pork chow mein). I ordered mostly from reading the reviews that others had posted so thanks to the other foodies like me.) the were a party of 4 not including a young child (4.5) The child was really keen on the potstickers. Anyways, based on reviews i understand why people generally eat out bc they lack proper serving spoons, food isn't well mixed; u have a fork and spoon and styrofoam plates. The portions themselves were so big that i think our party could still be eating the leftovers for two more days. The bill came to about 90$. Really really cheap; think that the restaurant owners are really humble and considerate to customers. Even the cold refrigerated drinks near the cash register for customers to buy are thoughtfully priced and less than you'd expect to pay for bottled drinks in other restaurants. I could see us coming back. I recommend this restaurant to others for being a honest thoughtful business. read more
