So good and my husband got the asada tacos, has a little kick to them. We ended the night with banana pudding dessert.... Wow now that was tasty. My girlfriend and I have tried a few times to visit fusion restaurants and have never happened upon something that feels like it really embodies the spirit of fusion - two cuisines interacting totally with each other and playing off each others strengths. That all changed when we went to Luna's after seeing it recommended on a Reddit best of Redding thread. There is obviously some serious culinary talent involved in the development of this exciting menu. My favorite thing we tried was the chicken dumpling burger. If you love dumplings and have ever greedily wished that succulent, tender filling went on forever, you will end up in the same heaven I did. Beautiful crafted patty, perfectly seared on a delicious bun with exquisite sauce. The presentation was also so adorable - it arrives in a steamer tray! My girlfriend's favorite was the pho sandwich. All the rich & nourishing toppings from iconic pho, vegetable and meat, bursting out of a banh-mi presentation. The master stroke of genius is rich and hearty pho broth to dip it in. I can't really even explain how satisfying the crunch of the sandwich is with the flavor profile of comforting pho. In addition, we both were extremely delighted with the playful and creative boba menu. I settled on the Ponyo-yo, which was a delicious little concoction of rich vanilla yogurt, peach puree, lemon popping boba served strikingly in a fishbowl glass with gummy sharks peeking out of delicious whipped cream topping. A feast for the senses! We also had a fantastic time splitting the bananas foster churro plate with beautiful strawberries and perfectly prepared bananas. If we hadn't been road tripping, we would have really enjoyed exploring the drinks menu, which was also very appealing. Maybe next time ;) oh and of course the chips & salsa were so good - love the little Korean spice profile touch on the chips. The venue also has wonderful ambience. Obviously very intentionally designed, the aesthetic is warm, inviting, and skillfully marries whimsy with comfort and charm. Pink SpongeBob in the women's restroom? HELLO? And of course you can enjoy the vintage anime playing on the big TV - I loved peeking up at Sailor Moon. The staff is also all very charming and friendly and the service was great. Came here for dinner with my friend on a Monday night and there was plenty of open seating. The service was friendly but slow. They give you free chips which were really fresh and tasty. On Mondays, all margaritas are $5!! You can choose your margarita flavor as long as your rim. I really enjoyed my mango one. My yum yum bowl with pork belly was good and filling as well. This place has outstanding food! The flavors are unique but very flavorful. The decor lives up to its name, a little bit of Asian decor and remnants of the previous Mexican restaurant it took over. Nonetheless it's comfortable, the lighting is on the darker side. We came here on a weekend and there was live music, we tipped the musician because he has a voice that's easy to listen to. I have heard great things about Luna's so perhaps my expectations were too high. Don't get me wrong, there isn't anything bad about it, but it wasn't over the top incredible. I will be returning and trying some other items, because there are plenty of intriguing things on the menu. The chips and salsa were good, I really like their spicy chip seasoning. The salsas were underwhelming though, although they went well with the chips. These are better than the standard chips and salsa at most places. The birria tacos were good, a little greasy (which is how birria is right?). However, I was waiting for a delicious bite of juicy beef and it was a little bland. The chimichanga was good, definitely an Asian flavor sneaking through there, so that's a plus. Ambiance is fine and it's cool have succulents all along the sills. Our server was a little uncaring I'll say. Nice enough, got our orders right, but only offered water refill once, and the water glasses are small. Plus she didn't offer dessert or give us much of a rundown on what would be a recommendation for ordering. It felt much more like a diner server than a restaurant wanting to be hip. Still, nothing super negative, and likewise nothing super positive. Hopefully next time changes my mind. read more

The inside was well decorated and pretty, we were seated immediately as we went in. Lots of food options. I would give another star however the whole time we were there no one bothered to refil our water considering the phobreia being salty. I think if I were to go again I would order the fries and the serf and terf. However we probably won't go anymore. I did tip 10 dollars for the sherbet icecream they got for my birthday kid. My husband and I stopped here with our baby on Valentine's Day to celebrate being new parents. She had different plans for us and ended up being too fussy to be inside. Which, as you can see, is not listed on menu and they failed to tell me that and forgot the sauce for them. I paid the extra $2 to try both types of alternative to plain corn. So for $14, I got 3 tiny tacos. Called thinking it was just a mistake. All I was told was server should have told me no sides came with it. With that and forgetting the sauce for my order, was still only told next time they would give me a 15% discount.. They charged credit card fee and even gave them a tip because they are very nice. But didn't realize what they were going to give me. Pretty bummed, because I love trying new things. I have never posted a review like this. Makes me sad.. Lunch on the day after Christmas, but looking to avoid a restaurant chain, pizza or burgers. I was on my way to a favorite Thai restaurant and saw Lina's. I have meant to try Lina's out but had failed to make it in as of yet. I was with my parents, and we had a really difficult time deciding what to order. Ultimately my parents split a Yum Yum Bowl and I got a Bulgogi Chimichanga. Incredible. There are at least 5 menu items I'm looking forward to returning to try. Service was a bit slow. But that might have been intentional - slow it down.... Based on one visit I highly recommend Luna's. If you only have 30 minutes maybe consider going when you have a few more minutes. We were driving through Redding from Portland to Sacramento and decided to take a meal break in Redding. We live trying fusion food places so when we saw this on Yelp it was a definite must. I'm so happy we did! The food was good and customer service even better! The minus one star is because we ordered the Birria Pho and had so much noodles in it that it lacked broth. So we had to ask for more, and they gladly brought it out to us! There was also so much beef in the pho that we could not finish it. I honestly love Luna's. It's a really cute spot with a unique atmosphere, the food is so creative. The preparation, and concept is unlike anything I've seen in Redding. The margaritas are HUGE, and they have like 40 flavours. I've tried Thai Tacos, Quesabirria Tacos, Seoul tacos, & shrimp tacos which we're all great. My husband almost always gets the Mexican version of a bahn mi sandwich, and loves it. Everyone is so friendly there, and we alwaysgetgood service, though sometimes things can take too when they are really busy. We went for dinner last Thursday night, and were pleasently surprised to learn they have live music! We often see mixed reviews questioning the foods "authenticity," but I'm not sure what Authentic fusion food is, as it's a pretty new cuisine genra, and seems to be more of a creative endeavor, than a traditional "authentic" endeavor. Ordered food this afternoon and basically everything that I ordered today included something they were out of. Ordered the Luna burger with waffle fries.. but they had no pretzel buns or waffle fries. So we got a burger on sourdough bread and cold partially frozen curly fries The Japanese tacos were alright but they were out of cherry tomatoes so they used regular which was whatever. The Birria ramen is supposed to have consommé or you'd think so at least. The taste is great but there was no broth whatsoever ever which is pretty disappointing. Just a huge cup of noodles and meat. I was very excited to try this place, as I have been hearing great things and the menu looks so promising. But todays meal was definitely underwhelming/disappointing. Tee hee. Mexican Korean fusion food. The idea still makes me giggle a little bit. In a good way. I was super intrigued when I found this place on Yelp. In all of the places I have travelled I have never seen these two cuisines paired on the same menu. A menu with so many intriguing dishes you wonder how many times you are going to have to come back to this place to try all of the things you want to. Our first time here today and we opted to do lunch since we have Holiday feasts planned the next few nights. It was dead when we walked in (but we eat lunch at 11 because I have to have hot food every day at precisely 11 AM or Lord knows the earth will fall out of its orbit or I will get hangry and you don't want to see me hangry). So in we go at 11. The place look like a typical Mexican restaurant and yeah if you want to be a sissy and just eat Mexican food they have that but you can also go to literally like twenty other places in Redding for ordinary Mexican food. If you do I will call the Yelp head office (they know me over there) and ask that your Yelp badge be revoked. OK what was I talking about? Ok yeah, the Mexican Korean fusion menu. This is where the place gets interesting. Is it Mexican food influenced by Asian food? Or Asian food influenced by Mexican food. I think it is both. My wife had Thai rolled tacos which she let me nibble on. Bright notes of ginger in the filling and the tortillas were lightly fried. The daughter got a little more adventurous with the carnitas Bahn Mi. She judged the bread to be very good (most important part of a sandwich in my humble opinion) and the meat tender and tasty. She was a trooper and ate all of the sliced jalapenos on top. Not to be outdone I have the Birria Ramen (comes in a Pho version too). Plenty of broth and fillings like meat, noodles, corn, cheese and a fried egg. Also came with a Birria taco, which could have had a crispier shell (I cut it up into big pieces and dipped it in the ramen). I liked that our server made sure we were good with the jalapenos on the sandwich and the egg on the Ramen when we ordered (heck yeah we were!). She was also very attentive, refilling glasses and I like that I didn't even have to ask for chop sticks (in a Mexican restaurant tee hee). We will be back to explore more of the menu. Only downside here was the restroom, which had a funky smell and you needed a code to get in the door (I assume they get folks wandering in) and I have seen in mentioned in other reviews so yeah an investment in redoing those is a good idea. But the food and service far outweigh that and this place is worthy of a visit if for no other reason than to check out this fusion pairing and make sure that places like this that are willing to take a risk in Redding. read more
