Best Mexican food I've had in ages. Hubby had enchiladas, friends had Chilis Rellenos and Tostada... friends had banana Margarita and raspberry Margarita and LOVED THEM! The Anderson PV is equally as good as the location on Hartnell in Redding which we have frequented for many years. Food and service are reliably good with reasonable prices. I admit I usually order my favorites and haven't experimented with new selections for a few years. My colleagues recently said the food was the most authentic they've had in this part of California. We went to PV two days in a row! They live and work in SoCal and frequently visit clients in Mexico - I'm guessing they would know more about authentic Mexican food than I do. We are from out of town and found this place on Yelp. We loved it so much we went for dinner twice. Chips and Salsa are also served with a side of beans. The Ultimate Margarita may be one of the best margaritas I've ever had. Both nights we went I had the Deluxe Taco Salad with shredded beef. Delicious with a fresh tortilla shell. Since relocating to the Redding area in 2021, my wife and I have been frequent customers of the Puerto Vallarta Restaurant in Anderson, CA. We have often brought out-of-town guests there to enjoy the food and drinks along with me using it for business lunches on occasion. However, both my wife and I were embarrassed last night when we took our guests (a former state park ranger and his wife) to the Anderson location and the food was served cold and/or luke warm at best. It tasted bland and the usual post-meal desert was not served. The meal with tip was over $90 dollars. I am not sure what has happened at that site since it seems that it has all new staff as it may be under new management. Any insights regarding what has happened to the food there would be appreciated as I can no longer recommend it to my friends and family. read more

We just stopped there with two crazy little ones who had been stuck in the car for hours. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating. They let us sit on the patio, which was closed, so the kids could run around. They were so kind, the tacos were great, and they even brought out a special desert for my kids on the house. My friend who was wearing a dress stuck to the plastic seats, that's how warm it was. They even had a fan going on the floor. Uncomfortable on a hot day. Went in for a late lunch. Had the worst chili relleno I've ever had there. Watery & tasteless. Had to ask for napkins. The service was the only good thing. Their prices are ridiculous for what you get. I wanted to leave the second I walked in but was assured by the person I was with that it was good. We were finally seated and the cracked booth seats (like so cracked the moldy foam insides were spilling out) and chewed up chips left inside my menu were the final straw and we walked out. We've had excellent service and receive our yummy food with minimal wait time. The staff is the friendliest at any Mexican restaurant I've eaten at from Mt Shasta down to Red Bluff; they all make an effort to say hello and goodbye. I have given this restaurant several tries over the last year and each time I go I am disappointed in the service, and the food. I will not be going back after the terrible service and food we were served yesterday. First of all, I ordered a "house margarita" that tasted way too sweet as if they served me lemon lime soda. When I asked the waitress if I could change my drink *note that the drink had maybe two sips taken out*, we were told that we have to pay for the drink and if we want another drink, we have to pay for that as well. This is the first restaurant I have EVER been to that said you have to pay for something that you absolutely did NOT enjoy. No accommodation was made. We ordered chicken and beef enchiladas. The food was subpar and had no flavor. The WORST part of it all, 3 people that got the chicken enchiladas got terrible stomach pains after eating here. FOOD BORNE ILLNESS. HIGHLY do NOT recommend. My friends and I went here for lunch and we ordered drinks and nachos.. well what we didn't order was a side of the CHEFS GUM. I'm not kidding we literally got gum mixed in with our nachos. Stopped here on our move to Oregon. I had the Arroz con Pollo. Rice with chicken. It arrived piping hot. It is so good! Besides having real Mexican food in Mexico, this is the real deal here. Placed a today to-go order of the shrimp and octopus soup, a cheese enchilada and a deluxe burrito. It was easy in less than 10 minutes. The burrito filled a 8x10 pan! They gave us a whole bag of chips and 2 salsas. But the highlight is the soup!!! It's my new favorite comfort soup. A little tangy, lots of cilantro and onions and lots of seafood. first of all I ordered chili verde which is what I order every time at this place, but for the first time ever, it had bell pepper in it. I hate bell pepper, so I had them take it away and I ordered something else. I ordered a chile relleno and one taco with beans and rice. the chili relleno was excellent but the pork in the taco was like shoe leather! it and obviously been sitting on the warmer for way too long! all the manager wanted to do was argue with me about the chile verde, and I didn't feel like arguing with him. I have been in that same restaurant at least 40 times over the years since I moved to this area and this was the first time I had a bad meal. the waitress was very nice, but the manager was a jerk. my friend that I went with had a talk with him after I walked out the door and he said he was going to talk to on the managers of the restaurants in the chain to find out what was going on. read more

Awesome Mexican in Anderson? You bet, I have to admit that I rolled into this place with low expectations, but was completely surprised on multiple levels. First, they totally gutted and remodeled the interior of the old Mexican restaurant that was there, adding a full bar, new flooring, new booths, new carpet, new kitchen. The waitress was awesome, she kept the Chips & Salsa coming, Drinks Coming, and the food came out quick. I had the Fajita Salad, it was massive! This salad was served on a platter. The wife had a Taco/Enchilada Combo that was off the hook good. This place might be my new "go to" Mexican Restaurant in the Anderson/Redding Area. For my peeps that travel the I-5 between California and Oregon/ Washington, this place is less than 50 yards from the off ramp from Northbound I-5 in Anderson. This place hits all the things I look for: good food, clean, good service, reasonably priced, good location. I will definitely be back to try them again. read more

Ok so I mention I'm on a diet to my server. No problem ordering steak fajitas without beans, rice or tortillas. She suggested a salad instead of those items, which I appreciated. The steak tasted funny. I told my mom that it tasted like it had been prepped for Chinese food. It tasted SWEET. One of the other servers came by to clear plates and she asked if I wanted a box. I told her no because it tasted funny. She said it could be because of their marinade... which turned out to be wine, soy sauce, and teriyaki sauce. Which has sugar in it, in case you didn't know. WTF. That's the weirdest shit I've ever had in a restaurant. Also, thanks for screwing up my diet. They'd better not charge me $19.99 for this disgusting surprise. UPDATE: They charged me $10 FOR THE SALAD I ATE. Give this place a wide berth. read more
