Our car broke down and we were stuck in an unfamiliar town for a few days. We happened upon this place in a strip mall and decided to give it a go. Small place but we were ordering to-go so that didn't matter. Got the spicy mala dumpling soup and do not regret it at all. I chose a "4" out of 5 spice level and it was perfect for me. He got a plate lunch with General Tao's chicken, fried rice, & broccoli. I think he got the "5" on the spice level. I like that you can customize your spice level! I assume he liked it because there wasn't any left after he finished eating. New China House is hands down my favorite Chinese food spot in the Edmond/OKC metro. Food is consistently good and service is always very helpful. I would recommend getting your order to go, as the interior is rather confined and not great for dining in. Overall, delicious food though! read more

Okay I don't know what happened to this place but I use to visit it often and it always satisfied. The last year I have had trouble finding it even open. So I finally caught it opened and was excited to get my usual item's and use my chopsticks and watch a movie. Yes I spent about $40 on egg rolls dumplings and green pepper beef with rice. Omg it was all nauseating. Everything had tones of freezer burn and it was rancid. It made me literally puke. It was so bad I usually use a lot of soy, fish sauce and other Asian products and still it was disgusting. I don't know what happened but I will NEVER EVER GO BACK HERE AGAIN. Please save your time and money. For that matter everything in this strip mall style location is horrible. Fantastic take out! (8/2023) This is a small shop and the food tastes great! They are very fast even when they get busy (may not answer phone so order online) but the quality is always the best. Be sure to pick up a menu, they have a lot of specialty items you won't find at most places! FYI the plain fried rice actually has flavor (unlike many Chinese takeouts) and didn't have any veggies in it (yay no rubbery frozen peas and carrots!). read more

TINY PORTIONS I lost the photo that i took but I ordered Hot and Spicy chicken and the entree cane with literally six tiny slivers of chicken. I got that then protein costs them the most but it was the most ridiculous portion iv ever received from a chinese takeout. It should be called Spicy Vegetables with Chicken if anything. I called and the lady confirmed that this is on purpose. She said if I wanted more chicken I can order the large and it would come with 4 extra tiny slivers of chicken. What a joke. 3 and a half stars. It's delivery / take out Chinese food from a strip mall. It's not gourmet, it's fast, quick, easy, and relatively cheap. The interior is a bit of a dive but clean and reminded me of the 80's but not in the "oh cool retro 80's" type of way. More of the "eww gross outdated 80's" type of way. The staff is friendly. I like that they have a diet menu section that comes with sauce on the side. I've had most of their beef and chicken dishes with vegetables which were all decent but a little skimpy on the meat and heavy on the vegetables which actually suits me just fine. The dishes come with rice which you can sub out for steamed broccoli and add to whatever entree you order to maximize your dish if you own a rice cooker at home. The egg drop soup here is pretty decent. I always order carry out to save on the delivery costs. Have yet to be disappointed by this place, recommend giving it a try. Looking forward to trying their mu shu pork and beef chow mai fun. Their Yelp page says 10% off your order for checking in, but they said they no longer have the offer and that they have asked Yelp to remove it from their page but is still there for some reason. read more

Hi.. This is not a positive review.. We made our order at 7:18pm, after a hour and 15 minutes, we called looking for our order. The young lady said that order left a long time ago. Let me call the driver. We call back and the young lady had not yet called the driver, had no clue where he or the food was. It would be another 45 minutes until the delivery guy would arrive, another 10-15 for him to try and figure out where he is. 9:05pm. We sit down to cold takeout dinner. It's a great convenience to order delivery here. I've ordered several times, always on time, great food. Once the delivery driver realized he was missing an item from my order, apologized profusely, and returned a few minutes later with a freshly cooked replacement, and if I remember correctly, an extra app I usually order. This was my favorite Chinese place to eat! I've been eating here for years their food is always fresh and tasty and their lo mein is really good! I had to take away 2 stars because the last 2 times I've tried to order from the app have been bad. The first time they refused to give me the 10% discount & the second time they don't have chicken lo mein on the app (very inconvenient when you've already put in everything else on your order just to have to cancel it & call it in!) and still refuse to give the 10% discount from the app! All the lady told me was, "I told them to take it off". She didn't even try to make it right, just kept repeating herself about how she told them to take it off. Very disappointed in this food after reading reviews. This is the 3rd Chinese restaurant I've tried since moving to Edmond and I would struggle to eat at any of them again. I've had great Thai food but not Chinese. We had spicy chicken, sub gum noodles, sesame chicken and Chicken Lo Mein. We all agreed the Lo Mein was decent and the highlight of the meal. The other three dishes were very bland and the meat was tough in all three. I have a family that loves Asian food and we actually threw away the leftovers except the Lo Mein. Fast and hot food that was really good. First place that has delivered to my location and almost everything we had was good. The General Tso, Lo mein passed both my spouse and kid's taste test. The egg drop soup was light and good and wasn't that weird yellow color. The "diet" is really healthy steamed veggies and your protein with sauce on the side. I'm from California where there Is a lot of great Chinese food. So maybe my standards are a bit high for Oklahoma... I'm not sure why this place has such ratings. The food is decent but nothing compared to some more authentic Chinese food. What I like about them most is that they deliver. But I tried the sweet and sour fried pork, which was too heavily breaded. Then the chow mein is nothing like I've ever had... It was a starchy sauce (which it's supposed to be) with meat of your choice and loaded with onions, and not very much else. Where's the vegetable? And the mein ( noodles) were not even noodles.. It was a bag of fried chips or something. I tried a couple other dishes and pretty much all of them was sub par. Most of their sauces are too sweet when they shouldn't be. read more

The only reason I'm giving three stars is because I've eaten here before and the food was pretty good. Unfortunately my experience tonight was mind blowing. My roommate and I decided to order from new China tonight. When we called to place our order we're not so kindly asked to place the order online because the kitchen was short staffed. We proceeded to the get online and look for what we wanted to order, only to find that half the menu wasn't pulling up online. We called back to ask if we were looking at the wrong site or to see if we could just place an order over the phone and the woman was extremely rude, asking what was missing. My roommate just listed a few of the first items that were missing and the woman said that I don't know what it is because we just had an order come through with those items. So we hung up for a second time and looked again. They now have temporary hours, and we are not longer able to order online, as they are now closed. So we call back to let them know that the website indeed does have a glitch, in hopes that they can fix it for future customers, and the woman handling the phone was rude yet again telling us that they are too short staffed to handle this problem right now. In the two times we called and she argued, our order could have been placed. Helping local businesses... Wifey ordered food. I opened my door and a Chinese person delivered food. I asked her if they had Chinese bittermelon. She had no clue. I asked if they had Chinese broccoli. She had no idea. Well right away I knew the food was suspect. Chicken wings... the batter is corn starch based so it is supposed to be light and fluffy like beer battered fish or onion rings. The batter was heavy and not light. Crab Rangoon was filled minimally with cream cheese; mostly wonton wrapper. General chicken was ok. Lots of batter and all thigh meat and no white meat. Sauce was decent. Fried rice. It was the house with shrimp chicken and beef. She insisted. I make a better fried rice. All in all. As a 100% Chinese person, I wouldn't recommend it.
