I needed my furnaces and fireplace serviced. The tech came out and did a great job with the fireplace. Then he did the furnaces and said one needed to be replaced and both crawlspace and attic ductwork needed replacing, and with a new furnace, that would be about $14,000 in total...Just had someone else come in for a second opinion, someone recommended by a good friend who I contacted after the service. There is something wrong with the furnace. It overheats, which was not mentioned to me at the service, but it can be repaired. Otherwise, it is a work horse, the 2nd guy said. I had never noticed an issue with this furnace before the service, so it has just started this overheating issue. He said the ductwork needs some retaping and unkinking, but it is fine, just old, but not crumbling and perfectly adequate. I don't need the 90% efficiency promised for the cost of $14,000. It is just not cost effective. Both furnaces need vacuuming, and the upstairs furnace is really dirty...which I just paid to have cleaned. I will not be contacting this company again to have a hard sell, taking advantage of the fact that I don't know much about furnaces or ductwork, plus now I need to have the furnaces properly cleaned.
Update:
So a few days after I wrote this review, an employee from this company came to my door. He was so apologetic about the service I had received. He brought me a check that would reimburse me for the entire amount of money I had spent (this included the fireplace cleaning which I has happy with). This means a lot to me, as I am a single mother with a low income, struggling to maintain a large house. He also said they would reimburse me for the money it took to re-clean the furnaces, which had actually been done just that day and the 2nd company had taken photos of the dirty furnaces. I emailed him the invoice from the 2nd company and the photos and some time later emailed the owner Eric the same, as apparently this employee had gone on vacation, but it's been over a week now since I emailed Eric and no check yet in the mail. However, this company does care about their reputation and are very interested in growing and so if you have a problem with their service, I would call Eric directly and let him know you are not happy, and he will try to make it right. I will update as soon as I get the 2nd check.
Second update:
I finally got the 2nd check to refund the cleaning of the furnaces by the 2nd company. This took lots of time (6 weeks from when first promised) and some badgering (reminder emails), but it did finally come through. I appreciate this company's willingness to make things right, but it would have been nice if I hadn't had to pester them for the 2nd check that they promised me. However, they did what they promised. read more
