We had a nice time at Nero Waffles, grabbing their last table as it started to drizzle and was grateful to get out of the rain. It was a cozy spot to warm up, have a sweet treat and a hot drink. It is a small space, so there were a lot of people being turned away after the last table was taken. There are only 6 tables in the whole space, with half of them being two-people booths. So plan accordingly! The open kitchen is constantly churning out sweet treats, so it was fun to watch as we waited for our order. We had the Banella Brulee and the Rocket Waffle. The Rocket Waffle was a savory waffle with spicy aioli and a poached egg, which made it a good brunch option. It was very pleasant and good experience to spend some time here. Waffles, coffee and customer service were all good. We stopped around 3:30pm on Saturday and there was small line up. But for patio, no waiting time luckily. So my friend wanted to have seasonal waffle but unfortunately they were already off season even on the menu. Instead of that, the server suggested The Triple C which is not on the menu or no picture on Yelp! either. We decided to give it try and it was so delicious. It has chocolate flavoured batter waffle, cherry and chocolate ice cream on top. That's why triple C. It's really nice to have good server who tries the best and gives some idea until the customer would be happy. My Banana Brule waffle was heavenly good too. I was so excited to grab brunch on my last day in Vancouver at Nero Waffles and they definitely live up to the hype. I came right at opening and ordered the ham benedict (got avocado instead of the greens) for $20, an iced vanilla latte for $6.00 (I believe), and a churro mini liege waffle for $3.70. The service was great - my server was super friendly and checked up on my throughout the meal, and I didn't wait too long for my food. The brussels waffle was probably one of the fluffy waffles I've ever had and went together incredibly with the poached eggs and hollandaise sauce - the dish was super filling without leaving me feeling bloated like typically brunch places. The iced coffee was standard but still delicious, and I loved how the liege waffle was a bit more dense and satisfied my sweet tooth. I ended up getting a box of 7 of the current flavours to bring back home to share with family. After surviving a 5 hr flight and another 3 days in the fridge, they still tasted amazing (though I would def recommend air frying them). So excited to come back next time I'm in Vancouver. Would also recommend trying to get there right for opening and preferably on a weekday to avoid the rush! It definitely started getting a bit busier when I left (though not fully packed). Menu is all on QR codes, and there's a time limit to seating (during COVID). Great presentation, staff, and quality. I've been 3+ times, and have been impressed every time. We tried both on brussels waffles (light and crisp texture). Orange Mousse: vanilla ice cream, dark chocolate, dark choco gnache, fresh oranges. The sweet/fruitiness/tanginess of the orange pairs well with the dark chocolate. Brésilienne: vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, caramel, roasted hazelnuts. My favourite and go-to order as I love hazelnuts. I sometimes order an extra scoop of ice cream on the side. Nero's Waffles Cafe June 26, 2023 OMG! They had me at waffles! But then these are the LIGHT Belgian waffles and I was hooked. It was lunchtime on a Monday, and there was a short line outside. Luckily one woman was ordering to go and I was seated soon afterward. Unbeknownst to me at the time, where I sat was THE perfect view to see all the orders get "dressed by the chefs behind the counter before they came out. I could also see the poached eggs being made and scooped out. The beautiful orders were happily brought to the tables by the energetic waiters. I love the staff shirts - "more waffles less worries" - which just says it all, right?!?? I ordered the Avocado Benedict (though almost all the savory orders had two perfectly poached eggs and hollandaise sauce piped on), a cup of Dark Belgian Chocolate and a Dark Chocolate Mini Waffle to go. The Smashed Avo and the To Brie or Not to Brie were the only ones without the housemade Hollandaise sauce. Checkout the menu I posted. If I had more stomaches I would have ordered a sweet waffle, too, as they looked so delicious and artistically presented! Gluten-free buckwheat waffles are also offered. Waffle Minis are available in a variety of toppings or just plain. They're stacked by the front entry and are easily boxed. My waffle was super light, crispy outside and soft inside. The housemade Hollandaise is so smooth though an added hint of salt might have given a bit more oomph of flavor. The side salad was a good contrast to the eggs and waffle. My Dark Chocolate drink could have used more chocolate as it tasted more watery than thick or chocolate-y. Deven, my funny friendly waiter, made sure I was well-taken care of and was observant enough to not photobomb any of my pix. At a table near mine was a family freshly off a cruise to Alaska. We spent a week in Vancouver and enjoyed breakfast twice at Nero. Great service, delicious waffles and coffee. First time we split the lemon ricotta liege waffle (sweet) and the Salmon Benny (savory). The Brussels Benny waffle was airy, crisp and buttery. The lemon ricotta was flavorful, lemon curd tart without being overly sweet. The liege waffle is sweeter and heartier. One of the kiddos had the smashed avocado waffle, which she enjoyed. Our last day in Vancouver we opted to return and sampled other flavors, let it brie, berries and marscapone, and liege aux fromages. The flavors did not disappoint. I appreciate a family run business that prides themselves on a specialty item and there's no denying Nero delivers a decently tasty product BUT the snooty, elitist attitude at a self glorified waffle shop is off-putting. After trying to obtain entry and spend money at this establishment 3 times only to be told my option was to purchase a pre made mini waffle or wait outside in Vancouver's harsh climate, I was finally able to nab a table (after being told to wait outside while my table was cleaned....how about doing your job and bussing the tables before a potential customer arrives?) Back to the waffle I ordered, a Nutella Brule banana something. It arrived cold, like the service. (Cold is ironic considering on previous visits being told we would have to wait 20 minutes for a to go order as all waffles were made fresh to order) Giving Nero 2 stars is generous. Confusing seating management I am a frequent visitor to this cafe. Today I was told to wait outside for 20-30 mins because the kitchen was overloaded. The cafe was 80% full and there were few spare seats both inside and patio. I don't know what harm could be if we were offered a seat while waiting. Omg I was so excited to see they did the Brussels style waffles. I love a good light, crispy waffle that isn't super sweet, and this was exactly everything I wanted. I got the berry and honey marscapone on Brussel style waffles. The waffle was perfect. But you have got to enjoy it fresh! For $11, it was a pretty decent price. The berries are really fresh and piled up high! I didn't like the marscapone but I think maybe I just don't like that in general. Next time, I would go for the strawberry one or the banana Nutella one. We also got the mini waffles which only comes as the softer, chewy style. Taste was fantastic still! But they run out of flavors so get there early or order the day before. I love that for take out, they give us wooden utensils. So much more eco friendly. I would definitely come back when I'm looking for a lovely waffle fix. I would recommend they do a plain Brussels waffle. I would love to just eat that with a sprinkle of icing sugar. I cannot believe how good this place is. Lots of reasons. The waffles are transcendent, the hollandaise (fluffy, just the right hint of lemon) and ham (thin, decadent) on the Benny are superb, the vegetables are fresh and excellent, the coffee is EXTREMELY good (the mocha with imported Belgian chocolate is better than I've had in literal Belgium), and the staff is fantastic. The vibe is great, comfort is reasonable (they definitely need a high churn here), prices are what I'd consider to be shockingly low (shhh, don't tell them!), and the location is perfect. I wouldn't cook breakfast again if I had this place next to my house. We were there for a quick stop before we headed onto our cruise ship. This place was just down the street from Hotel Belmont, where we stayed. First, I walked in and was directed to sit at a table/booth. Unfortunately, I'm a bigger guy and immediately had a problem because their table and seats were locked into place, not leaving me any room to sit. I was starting to feel a little embarrassed when a waiter (maybe the manager) saw what was happening and offered us an outside table, which was more comfrotable for me. He immediately saw the issue and quickly rectified it to save me a bright red face or looking for a different place to eat. Thank you for that! He cared for us, and we couldn't have had a better experience. I want to add his name to this review, but unfortunately, the receipt I wrote down his name was lost. He has a French accent and has worked at the restaurant for many years. Hopefully, that helps the restaurant figure out who their diamond is! Oh, I almost forgot! I had the Smoked Salmon Benedict. I've gone to Nero many many times and always enjoy their waffles. They are a great price and have so many great flavours for their minis. I saw on Instagram that they do waffle Benny's. You can get smoked salmon, ham, avocado and one more that I can't recall. I went with the ham (a classic!). The waffle was fantastic, crispy on the edges and soft on the inside. SO good! The Hollandaise was delish And the rosemary ham was flavorful! This was my friends first time here and she got two of the mini liege waffles with a side of syrup. She was very impressed with that and the yummy mochas! (We both got the milk chocolate version). Our waitress was an absolute sweetie! The service is always done with a smile, and we were able to sit outside, and their Covid protocols were great! Precautions being taken are requiring sanitizer prior to entrance, masks while not eating, and single-use paper menus at tables. The restaurant was empty on a Thursday morning at 10:30am. We ordered the Berry & Mascarpone and Banella Brûlée on Brussels waffles as well as three of the mini liege waffles (vanilla custard, double chocolate, and specialist). It was definitely a lot of food for just two people, and I would recommend sticking to just a single Nero classic if you really want to try the mini liege waffle flavors. That being said, these waffles were by far the BEST waffles I've ever had. They were crispy yet filling, and each was topped with a generous portion of toppings. I'm normally a pancake guy but these waffles may have just given me the best reason ever to convert. TLDR: THE CRISPY-est waffles you will probably ever try. MUST visit! read more

WOW WOW WOW! I am a huge fan of waffles and was meaning to try this place for a while now. In our last visit to Canada we lucked out bc we ended up staying just a block away from Nero. Our server was Pieter and he was superb! Super friendly and attentive. We took advantage of the Yelp Check in and was able to get 4 free mini leige waffles no questions asked. Honestly the mini leige vanilla custard one was my favorite! We also tried the pistachio and strawberry one, but those were topped rather than filled and were a little more on the sweet side. We ordered lattes and London fogs ans they were delivered with beautiful latte foam art! I'm a sucker for details and I was all about it. For food we ordered the bennies, Parisienne on buckwheat waffle & the Banella Brûlée. My fiancé accidentally a ham Benny when he meant to order the smoked salmon and after we explained to them it was our mistake, Pieter still gave us a side of smoke salmon for free. It was a truly delicious and enjoyable experience and we would happily come back and recommend Nero to all of our fam and friends!
