Nerds in a Flash made the panic of a dead computer into a non-event. The desktop crash in an automatic repair loop in the absolutely worse moment. I can't say enough about how easy this process was and how much I learned about my system even beyond solving the problem. read more

A Life Saver- a demon got into my system and I couldn't find an exorcist but found Nerds in a Flash. Mr. James Allen is now my go to guy for any computer issues I may have. My backup went bad and lost a lot of data, and my computers functions were diminished. It turned out that my external drive was corrupted and was working havoc on the rest of my system. Mr. Allen had to take my computer with him and reworked the entire system and reloaded everything so that Now everything is automatic and I got a new external hard drive backup. I went for a week trying to get it fixed by myself, on calls with Seagate and with Microsoft on-line and got squat. My computer is even running faster. read more

Same day service, on time, wearing a mask and very responsible as far as maintaining social distance. Also very willing to go above and beyond... Didn't just fix the problem I called about but also delved more deeply into how I use the computer and whether some other simple changes might make my work more easy and efficient. He's been willing to explain other issues via text after the first appointment and I feel comfortable coming back to him with more questions. What a great service, a million times easier to deal with than GeekSquad!! read more

I have had Nerds in a Flash (first Kelley, now James) take care of my computer needs for years and highly recommend them.

I called Nerds in a flash to service my Mac desktop, within a few hours the same day Hollis (Owner of the company) was at my house working on it. He walked me through every step of the process and explained things to me in full detail. He did not leave until he got the job done and I'm so thankful for that! He installed a program that would help my computer and showed me how to work it as well! Hollis was very patient, kind, and worked very diligently. I will absolutely call nerds in a flash for any future needs! Thanks Hollis for coming out on your birthday nonetheless and helping us out in a pinch! read more

These guys were absolutely amazing. I was building a new computer and had hit a snag. Couldn't figure it out and gave them a call. They were there less than 40m later and had it fixed in 10. But he then helped set a few other things up for me and showed me a feature of my watercooling system I had missed. James was absolutely fantastic, knowledgeable, and professional. I will absolutely be using them next time I need help. The price was also really good. Should be your first stop read more

Called KS (initials of the nerd) for a tune-up, having some reboot problems with WinXP. He recommended a reformat, so I figured, he's the professional, he'll take care of it. So a week later, I'm left with a machine that works, but I still have to install and update most of the software I use regularly (at least a day's work), plus delete all the superfluous stuff that for some reason was put on my hard drive. Oh, and I also have to reload my files from the external hard drive, where they were backed up. Before I let KS wipe the drive, I asked him to look at my backup and make sure we had everything he needed. He said, "yup." So when he came back, it turned out that there's a separate folder for Thunderbird application data that I hadn't saved, so I lost my old email files. Oh, I can view them as text files, but that's it. And I lost one piece of software, because I don't have the disk anymore and I didn't back up the Program Files. When he was ready to leave, I poked around to make sure everything was working, and found out that the email Send didn't work. He had to call tech support for my email server to get it working. If this is service, I'm glad I'm not fertile.... Two weeks later, I'm still fixing problems and reinstalling software. Their invoice says they will reinstall software from authorized licensed disks. I handed KS the disks, yet he didn't reinstall my printer software, my camera software, or any other software in the stack. I had to learn the technical details of my password encryption software to fix that--he had it set up to run off my external backup hard drive only. Why don't I complain to the company? Because I don't trust them not to make it worse. read more

The hard drive that was sold to me five months ago failed I have left multiple messages with James Allen and the owner of nerds in a flash to get a copy of the receipt for my hard drive to exercise my warranty, The only response I have received was from a rude receptionist who told me they do not honor warranties then hung up on me. Do not trust this company!! All I needed was my receipt for my hard drive warranty. read more

I'm giving them a 3 because at least they were honest and didn't waste my time. However, they were not helpful, and I won't try them again. I have an older windows hp desktop running Windows 10. I was getting notices from Microsoft that Windows 10 is no longer supported. I called Nerds in a Flash to ask them how much it would cost to upgrade my pc to be able to run Windows 11. The lady who answered the phone asked how old my computer is, and when I told her, she said they don't work on computers as old as mine. So I called up a different company and they connected me with a technician who told me they don't recommend upgrading to Windows 11 as it is still in debug. They said to ignore the warnings about windows 10 no longer being supported as it is untrue and is just microsoft's way of getting customers to upgrade to help them debug, and he said they did the same thing with the upgrade from windows 7 to windows 10. They said just type in "updates" in the Start window and do all updates except windows 11. Which I did, and it says that all updates are current. Within less than 3 minutes the guy solved my problem and saved me from spending any more time and money on it. And he saved me the expense of buying a new computer that would run windows 11. VERY helpful. They didn't ask how old my computer was: instead they took the time to talk to me about it. They didn't try to sell me anything, and they didn't charge for their advice. I will be going with this company in the future. They are named after a fictional monster. read more

For some reason I was dreading the computer repair appointment process. I assumed it would take days to get an appointment, weeks to wait on the fix, and I would have to be without my computer. NOPE. They came the same day as I booked my appointment, they could have come in the next hour which I was astonished by. Great for immediate gratification or fast paced schedules- who isn't dealing with that in this day and age? I was impressed with how easy the website, booking, and appointment fit into an already packed day for me. James was knowledgeable, kind, and personable. He fixed my issues, while carrying on a conversation, and set me up with next steps should I need them. He engaged with our son, wasn't afraid of our annoying dog, and came in just as quickly as he worked his magic and left. He even asked about my business and ways he could help share our service. I will definitely be sharing this awesome service with friends + clients alike! Great experience all around- when you get great service like that, the fact that my computer works great now feels like a bonus to what I actually got-a really enjoyable human interaction and service in a weird time in the world where we all need a little more human connection. read more

My computer was a desktop junkyard and things were running a bit slow. I assumed I would have to install more memory (expensive) and so on. Kelly from Nerds in Flash showed up on time, cleaned up my desktop, organised all my files where I could find them, and big bonus, explained I still had plenty of memory for day to day activities, so no need to add a chip. He explained everything in a language I (non- computer person) could understand, and his fees were more than fair. I will definately use his sevices again . read more

James Allen was great. I have an All In One that needed a fan replaced. After leaving it with Geek Squad for 3 weeks, they then told me their supplier does not have the part so they could not fix it. Mind you this was already diagnosed by a Geek Squad agent on a home visit that it needed a fan and he told me I needed to take it in for that repair. GS did tell me the part number which we ordered off of Amazon. I called Nerds in a Flash and they were out the next day. Although my computer was working fine, I had been contemplating buying a new one for speed. James was awesome and told me he could not only replace the fan but he could also upgrade my old hard disk to a new SSD and it would speed up for a lot less money. He replaced the HD with a new SSD drive, copied everything over, checked for viruses and tested it. He was so RIGHT and save me so much money from buying a new computer unnecessarily. I highly recommend them to service your computer needs. read more

I am a retiree living on social security. Recently, I had some computer problems booting up and staying booted on. I called Nerds in a Flash to the rescue. They came out, took my machine, returned it the next day "fixed." Only, it wasn't, and the trip costs $220. I called again, and a gentleman named Kelley Sanford, who identified himself as the owner of the local franchise, came out and within five minutes claimed I needed a new hard drive, He took the machine with him, returned it the next day, charged me another $305. And guess what? The computer continued to do the same thing it had been doing before I ever called in the first place. I finally had the computer fixed at Austin Computer Shop for $40. As far as I'm concerned, Nerds in a Flash is a bunch of scam artists, shysters if you will. I'll NEVER call those on those crooks again! read more
