I love this place! And since it's on the pricier side, I usually only come with special people. I wanted to bring one of my besties because of the turtle bao. Ordered spareribs, mango pudding, turtle bao, beef rice rolls, XLB, egg tarts, sesame balls, and a 7Up. Brought some leftovers home. Appreciated the dim sum 9 am - 3 pm discount. Paid cash which they prefer.

One would assume fine dining these days is going to cause a nosebleed. I was.begrudgingly dragged here grinding my teeth fearing the worst- a three figure lunch. Neptune is Canto-styled restaurant, I believe 3rd rendition in GVRD after Richmond and Metrotown. The interiors/ambiance is quiet and comfortable whilst a large screen of deep sea NG type exploratory video plays on a loop.interspersed with advertisements. We had the standard dishes. Been here a few times now, so had about a dozen and half dishes. Tbh, they are fairly decent and in generous proportions. This can be sheerly a promotional stunt. Shockingly the pricing is very reasonable even before the 10% discount for the weekday adventure. And no it did not hit 3 figures per person. Definitely recommend it.(At least before the secret gets out and they start jacking up prices to the moon like the norm.)

First time at any Neptune restaurant, this one in Coquitlam. Tried dim sum with a group of six adults. We love dim sum so I feel we have a good idea of what a good dim sum should be. Since it is our first time we ordered 10 dishes, so my review is only for those 10 dishes. First impressions, restaurant is nicely appointed, parking was easy, service was good, washrooms was one of the nicer ones. Food wise.... Steamed pork Shao Mai...good with generous amount of fish roe on top. Steamed beef balls, excellent taste and texture. Stir fried rice noodle with beef and vegetables with gravy. Just okay. No wok hei and tasted bland. Fried halibut with leeks. One of the best dish today. Very tasty and well cooked. Deep fried squid tentacles. Just okay. Batter wasn't crispy and taste wasn't garlicky or spicy like normal. Our host ordered a daily special of steamed scallops in shell with rice vermicelli on the bottom and topped with fresh garlic. Looks very nice but tasted okay. Steamed rice roll with shrimp. Good, but nothing to write home about. There were two desserts we ordered. Deep fried glutinous ball with durian filling. Very good and tasty. Milk pudding with coconut jelly. Very good but a bit too sweet. Overall it was a good experience and judging how busy they were, we were not along in thinking that. Do I recommend? Yes, great for Coquitlam but knowing there are better value and tasting dim sum out there. After all this is Vancouver!!

Another Neptune afternoon... I think this is the only Neptune I haven't been to yet? Anyways, in the area taking care of some business so decided to try this location out. It's located on the front side of Coquitlam Center and facing the new Cactus Club, plentiful of parking is available up front in the malls parking lot. Inside is separated into to section; Neptune Wonton for fast casual dishes and Neptune Seafood for more of a formal dining. It's kind of a smaller place and pretty basic to me. Anyways, here were the dim sum I ordered; 1. Seafood dumpling in soup. The imitation crab being used made the broth a bit overly sweet, was too unpleasant to finish it. 2. Steamed spicy beef tripe. It wasn't tender enough, needed to steam it a bit longer. 3. Steamed chicken feet with special sauce. It wasn't tender enough for the skin to fall off the bone, needed to run through the deep fryer a bit longer during the prep process. 4. Turnip cake with XO sauce. It's almost a joke, my 10 year old nephew could've done better with this dish especially its presentation. Failed! 5. Baked preserved egg and ginger pastry. Absolutely horrible, the preserved egg was rubbery and the whole pastry crumbled along with its ginger paste. Failed! 6. Fried vegetables with shrimp paste. An alternate version of the deep fried eggplant with shrimp paste. It was so so. 7. Baked bbq pork buns. It was okay, the bbq pork could be less sweet. 8. Purple rice roll with fish paste. It was okay, the super jumbo size was unexpected. 9. Stir fry udon with live lobster. Surprisingly it was pretty good, enough wok hay to really bring out the flavours. 10. Little white rabbit pudding. Not bad, cute little treats. Overall, I wasn't too impressed with the layout and atmosphere of the restaurant. It portray itself as a mid class Chinese seafood restaurant, but felt l like a simple family restaurant with mid level prices. The service was okay, enough to satisfy the basics, don't expect anything more than that. As for the food, honestly it was probably one of the most disappointing experience I had so far out of all the Neptunes I've been to. Not a repeat or recommendation from me anytime soon... 1.5 stars

I'm glad this franchise opened a location in Coquitlam after the one at Hard rock casino closed down. It was a nice and easy place to gather for a function and then go entertain ourselves after haha - this location is easily located at Coquitlam centre where Montana's used to be and beside Best Buy's external entrance. There are "two sides" one for more casual dining and one I believe open for larger parties or weekends. We went early on Monday night so it was a bit quiet which was perfect for my family. The dishes are both reasonable yet a little pricey (let me make sense of my nonsense!) the siu mai and other dimsum dishes were more extravagantly priced at around $8.95 and higher which is a heftier price - however, the portion and quality tasted good! I don't know if I could afford a full dimsum feast there but for what my dad was craving it worked out just fine. The gai lan, albeit simple, is just comforting veggies in a meal but were also pricey at $15.95 given the portion size. Usually we would pay more premium prices for pea tips but regular gai lan just seemed like a lot than usual. The sukiyaki hot pot was phenomenal! It came in at $17.95 but I really enjoyed it making its purchase worth it for my personal experience. The egg was a perfect addition and well flavoured (similar to a ramen egg) and the beef was tender. The broth was delicious and I recommend pairing this with rice (comes with choice or vermicelli or rice but as sukiyaki already has vermicelli in it then rice is the way to go). It also comes with crab stick, squid, enoki mushroom, bean curd, tofu and tomato. It is not a traditional Japanese sukiyaki but it was still comforting and enjoyable. We also ordered crispy chicken chow mein ($16.95) but I forgot to snap a picture. It was a good portion and perfectly crispy. The staff are so nice here and as of December 5, they wear masks. The service is courteous and I enjoy dining here!

Monday night dinner was nice and tranquil unlike dining here in the afternoons for dim sum. There were only a few tables and we were spread out. Ordered the lamb hot pot. It was $39; not too many pieces but came in a large pot with the propane stove. The sauce seemed to taste a bit watered down. The fish maw crab soup was nice and flavourful but didn't have much fish maw or crab in it. The pea tips with mushrooms were tasty and portion was big. Also finished with the egg drop prawn scallop chow fun. For 4 adults (not the biggest eaters) and 2 toddlers, it came to $145 with tip and we packed a bunch home.

    Could add more beef

I love the food here. Price went up quite a bit but overall solid Chinese restaurant. Wonton noodle is pretty good here too but I think the Surrey branch wonton noodle is better.

Not really an authentic Szechuan restaurant. 30 years ago, most chinese cuisines were cooked by hong kongers or south chinese people. So, most of these dishes are going to be a southern take on it. Hot and sour soup - price is awesome. $11 enough for at least 6 bowls. Souo base is missing a bit of flavor but it is jam packed with ingredients. Drunken chicken - it was ok. Little on the salty side. Shanghainese pan fried pork buns - these were probably the worst I've had. Not made in house and not properly pan fried. No juice, super dry, no fried bottom crust. Bean curd wrapped pork dim sum - surprisingly this came out last. At least 20 min has passed. This is a steamed dish but it came out with dried edges like it was sitting on a dry heater. Taste was ok. Mapo tofu - asked for extra spicy and extra numbing. Numbing was there but nowhere near real szechuan numbing. Was not spicy at all. Sauce was more oily than saucey. The price point reflects the quality. Things are either mediocre or a complete miss. Would come again to try only the better stuff. Staff was friendly. Came to try to refill the tea way more times than normal. The iron goddess tea tastes much better than a lot of dim sum places elsewhere.

When I test out a new chinese restaurant, I usually order the tomato and eggs on rice because it's a staple (I grew up in China) for me. It was extremely disappointing and a little gloopy? The tomatoes were overcooked and mushy and the eggs were blended into the sauce which made the texture thick in a bad way. Couldn't finish it and tomato and eggs on rice is one of my favorite dishes so I was pretty heartbroken. Overall, they definitely specialize in HK/Canto style dishes which they do extremely well but everything else is meh.

I am sad to report that this was somewhat the case. Yes, the service was substandard but the food was too :( The service was pretty typical for a Chinese restaurant. The servers are doing their jobs and don't care too much about pleasantries. My main gripe is that we all felt like the food was bland (apart from the fried string beans). We had also ordered chow mein with bokchoy and beef. They had typed in our order wrong and instead a beef brisket friedchow mein came out. We told them that the wrong order came out and they tried to convince us to keep it but it wasn't what we wanted! If you are familiar with Cantonese food, beef brisket has a VERY distinct taste. Eventually they agreed to take back the beef brisket chow mein and came out 2 minutes later with the chow mein we had originally ordered. I could taste the beef brisket sauce on it still. They had just removed the beef brisket from the noodles and replaced it with beef and bokchoy. In my opinion, they should've made us a new dish as this completely changed the taste of the dish. In terms of vibes, the restaurant looks like your typical Cantonese restaurant, the inside is a decent size. I think the clientele here leans more to the older side, not many young people seem to frequent here. Overall, I will not be coming back or ordering from here again :(
