This was the worst service experience. I am a server and the the lady with the short blonde hair NEEDS TO GET A NEW JOB !!! I called to place a take out order and she told me one min then 10 mins goes buy and this isn't the first time she has done this. She plays a game to see if you will hang up first. So I drove 15 mins to the restaurant while on hold the whole time. When I got there and told her I was there for take out her response was she can't deal with takeout orders when she is by herself. I find that odd when you are a server and you can't take a simple order over the phone quick. She was rude and just a complete turn off. I wouldn't go there. She crappy server with attitude. The restaurant isn't that big and she can't handle the 10 tables in there and take an order over the phone. Get out of this industry cause no likes a s***t server with an attitude. read more

Came here this morning with my wife and parents. Had a little bit of everything (Omelet, bacon, sausage, home fries, toast) and I can say it was all pretty enjoyable. Home fries could have been cooked a bit more though, they were burned on one side and mush on the other. Overall good experience, would come back again. read more

However, if there is a known 20-30 minute wait for a party of 2 and the second person is arriving within 10 minutes... why can I not put my name down on the waiting list? I was recommended to visit Nelson's by my boss who talks about it constantly. He was right. It has quickly become a fave of mine!! The outside can be deceiving as it isn't the most approachable on the outside, but inside it is decorated in a super cute nautical theme, and is very clean. When I get there, I can't ever decide on banana pancakes (which are out of this world by the way) or just a regular old toast, eggs, hash brown breakfast. I usually end up getting it all! Service is quick, longest we ever had to wait was 2 minutes. The girls there are also super friendly. Definitely stop in and try it! You might surprise yourself! read more

I've been wanting to go to Nelson's Cafe since reading good reviews on Yelp, but could never get there before 2pm. On a whim today, I went. Alone. I don't usually go alone but sometimes I do, and decided to go today. I was nervous when I walked in but sat at the counter (which I have never done). There was an older gentlemen who let me sit there next to him and recommended the blueberry pancakes. I almost got the cinnamon roll pancakes, but they only sold them in an order of 3 pancakes and I only wanted 1 since I'm on weight watchers. Oh well. I got the short stack (2) blueberry pancakes, and the Nelsons Breakfast Special: I picked scrambled eggs, ham, and fruit. Everything was great! The fruit was fresh. Pancakes were amazing, though I wish the butter was on the side and not slathered on top. The price was great! 8.99 for the special and a 1.00 upcharge for the blueberry pancakes. I wasn't told about the 1.00 upcharge and would've appreciated that because I would've probably just gotten the regular pancakes to save the dollar, but that's okay. I kind of wish they had a TV in there but I read the paper and enjoying looking around at the people talking. Bathrooms were clean, the dining areas looked clean. Service was amazing and friendly and relaxed. Great atmosphere! I'll be back with some friends. It's also great that they take cards because most mom and pop diners don't. Truly I loved it here. My brother and I stopped by today (Dingus day) for the first time after hearing good things about Nelsons. The first thing we noticed was that the parking lot was full...a good sign. We were greeted by friendly faces as soon as we walked in, and were seated immediately. Yvonne, our server, was smiling, gracious and friendly, and explained the specials to us. I had the chicken fajita hoagie, with sauteed onions, peppers and cheese, along with a cup of Philly beef soup. Both were delicious. Brother had Nelson's Breakfast special and said it was also very tasty, with light, fluffy pancakes. For $8.99 each, this was a great deal. The dining area and bathrooms were immaculate, and there was a good vibe here. Heartily recommended, and we'll certainly be back. read more

Walked in for breakfast this morning. Two servers working. only 3 tables with people. Only two tops at that. We were told a 20 minute wait! Wtf!! ??? Nice decor and very clean. This is always a plus for me. That being said had a horrible experience with terrible service. First 2 cups of coffee are $4.50. We received a cup of burnt decafe coffe after being there for about 10 inutes. Finished it before our breakfast came. Ate our breakfast with our cups waiting at tables edge. Waited another 10 minutes, finally ask the bus girl if she could ask our waitress for a refill. She came back and said she needed to brew. SO we were there about an hour and 15 finally got our coffee and we just decided to leave after we asked for check. We left the cash on the table let the bus girl know and left. As we are getting in our car the waitress charges us and accuses us of leavig without paying. My husband said no I left it on the table and told the girl. She sreamed acrossed the parking lot ,"No you didnt"!! My husband pulled out front and went in and said thanks for calling me a liar, great for customer service!! She replied she was busy. Not an excuse. Was a waitress for years. The minute that Coffee pot was almost empy was when she should have started a pot so we could have a cup with our meal not 20 minutes after our meal. So if you want horrible service, a suboptimal breakfast, over priced and get treated to being called a liar, Hey you found yor place!! PS. Im a 25 % tip and work back. Waited 45 minutes for a table of 5 at 9 AM. They said we could sit at the bar or wait another 30 minutes. The bar was not ideal for a group of 5 as we could not even see each other. The food was okay and service was decent. It's a decent little place. read more

Listen. My wife and I watch a lot of Diners Drive ins and Dives. There were always people interviewed and they'd be like "oh yeah come here 4 times a week" we were always like "who the f*** goes to the same place that often". Then we went to Nelsons. The food is really really good. My review is only 2 stars because I've been here twice and BOTH times the lady that works at the front with the short hair is EXTREMELY rude. My first visit she had a horrid attitude and kept ranting about us missing one of the people in our party so we couldn't be seated till they got there. Today I walked in with my son and we were not greeted at all just looked at very uncomfortably by this woman who just stared at us standing there by the sign that CLEARLY says please wait to be seated. Then some young girl who was also just a bystander finally came over and asked how many and if we signed in but NO ONE and NO WHERE does it say to sign in. So this lady who won't even address me, she just allowed me to stand there. Regardless of that she is extremely unkind and not personable at all. The first time I went, had a standard breakfast. Excellent price, quantity, taste. Noticed the pancake platters that other diners had ordered. Been back twice since. Will not be back. Came on a Sunday at 8am. Was not busy, one table of gentlemen and a few people around the bar. We placed our order of eggs, toast, and home fries right away and waited and waited and waited. People who came in 20 mins after us were served right away. Finally got our food at 8:40, I guess you have to know someone to get served right away otherwise your last on the list. Well I just can't say enough about Nelsons Cafe. I challenge anybody to find a better eggs Benedict anywhere around here and they serve them every day not just on Sunday like most places!! Home fries cooked to perfection,not hard like some places. The owner is the cook and a really nice guy. The servers are especially friendly and knowledgeable. Absolutely spotless.
