So good! We stayed in Buffalo for a couple days and took the opportunity to check out local breakfast spots, and this one did not disappoint! We split the Nelsons Breakfast, and it was absolutely delicious. Eggs scrambled perfectly, sausage was solid, and the homefries were chef's kiss (and homefries are my FAV). Pancakes were also really fluffy and light, just how I like them! Got oatmeal with blueberries for the baby, and it came packed with blueberries. Generous portions and great service. Will come again if we're ever in the area. read more

Nelson's Cafe serves some of the yummiest French toast! The staff was really friendly, and the food did not disappoint. The only downside is that the space is quite tight, but the cozy vibe makes up for it. read more

The food is very good here I had a cheese omelette. My husband had a Philly steaks breakfast sandwich plate and it was great. We love our waitress - it's far so we don't go a lot, but we would if it was closer. read more

There are tons of great restaurants near me so I really don't have to travel more than a couple of miles for a good breakfast but Nelson's is worth the little extra drive. The menu is always interesting, the wait staff friendly, and the food is home-made and on-point! read more

We stopped in for breakfast on a Friday morning. There are several signs posted so that people know they are cash only. I had heard good things about the cinnamon swirl pancakes, so that is what I ordered. I was not disappointed! I had the large stack which was three pancakes and I brought some home. They were delicious. My wife ordered eggs benedict which came with home fries. This is a relatively small place, and they insist that all in your party must be present before you are seated. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. The prices are reasonable and I'm sure we will be back again soon. read more

WOW! Stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday after helping my daughter and her husband moved to North Tonawanda from Cleveland. Yvonne, our server was the nicest person you could ask for. I had the omelet special in the photo. Make sure you select the homemade Italian bread from Di Camillo bakery. Coffee mugs are meant for giants-just what we needed, and the coffee was delicious. Everybody was happy with their selections. The place was clean and neat, and simple. No complaints. Would highly recommend this place. We will be back next time we visit the kids. ;) read more

Do your tastebuds a favor and have breakfast here. The service was fast and friendly! The food was so flavorful and great portions. Solid breakfast offerings at reasonable prices. Service was quick and staff were friendly and courteous. Definitely feel the homey vibe of the place as many of the customers were regulars and the staff chatted with them by name. I had the Nelson special ($7.99) which came with pancakes, eggs, sasauge (or bacon), and home fries. Everything came out hot and fresh and the whole meal was delish. read more

A small classic, yet modern breakfast spot along the Niagara. Sat at the counter and quickly had a delicious cup of hot coffee. I went for the Nelson's Breakfast Special. Two eggs scrambled, sausage , home fries and two pancakes ($8.99). Food came out very quickly, was hot and delicious. Pankcakes were large and fluffy with good flavor. Hash browns were tasty with great seasoning. All in with coffee and tip was $15. Solid. I'll be back. read more

I love their food! Their Eggs Benedict is worth every penny! I've never had a bad meal there!

This place was still just as good the 10th time as it was the first time. I lived out of state so I did not get to frequent here quite often, so this past weekend was my first time in over a year and I was not disappointed. I can get super busy, but we were lucky on a Sunday, early, there was no wait so we got to see it right away. The service is always friendly and fast, the food is always hot and delicious. Their cinnamon pancakes are absolutely addicting and amazing. read more

Lovely eatery with amazing food. We had breakfast there 2 days in a row - our only 2 mornings in the area. Perfectly prepared omelettes. Large, generous portions. Very clean establishment. We felt very safe. The staff are warm, welcoming people. Wondering where to go for breakfast or lunch? Nelson's is the spot. You won't be disappointed. read more

Awesome little cafe right along the river! Co workers brought me here to check it out and I loved it. The staff was great, so nice. The selection on their menu was excellent, so much to choose from, and a lot of polish selections which I'm not complaining! I ordered the Reuben Sandwich with a side of fries, and I must say this sandwich was perfectly executed with corn beef, swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and thousand island dressing to top it off, it made my day! Food is good, when the restaurant is open! I swear I've gone 3 times in the past 6 months and it seems like they are always closed. My bad for not calling first to check. Even though they were supposed to be open today ( monday) they were not. I went there and locked up tight at 10 am. In the past it seemed like they had different hours of operation. Once I went and I found out they were closed due to sealing the parking lot, I think?! They missed out on my business several times. When I called today, it just rang forever. Yet the website said they were open. Seems like a crazy way to run a restaurant. read more

Would give 0 stars if option. Rude waitress would not seat us until everyone there, then minutes later, we were all there. No more open tables. Asked her how long she thought it might be; "I don't know." We four locals will never go here again. Advice to tourists, don't bother with this place, aim for an eatery which caters to customers. And I know from one prior visit, food is nothing special. Parking is crammed and limited too. Nothing good to say about this restaurant. read more

We recently purchased a new home on the water near Nelson's Cafe, and we are thrilled to have a nice breakfast so near our home. The food is great home cooking & the place is really cute & clean inside. The only problem we had during a recent visit is the very unfriendly short haired blond server. She seems to favor what looks like regular customers (which we had planned on becoming). At best she acts like she got up on the wrong side of the bed & is totally unfriendly & curt. Maybe she could take a cue from the really lovely and friendly other server and treat people with a kinder attitude. read more

Really great experience for breakfast here. Have been hearing a lot about this place and wanted to give it a shot. A table for 6 was prepared for us quickly. The place was quaint and clean. A surprise; truly a very nice after church Sunday surprise and no, it wasn't just because the fine people who invited me to come to Nelson's for breakfast treated but it was because this little River Road joint combined all the elements to create a comfy eat with friends diner. Nelson's fits that dated expression 'it seems like CHEERS' where everybody knows your name .... seriously isn't that the type of comfort you want in a diner? No, this isn't a secluded location for a romantic get away but instead it's all about comfort, feeling good, and yes a chance for a tasty breakfast (Well, that's what I had so I can't comment on their lunch menu.)? Take a look at the White Board before diving into the menu because you just might find your choice posted up for all to see. I discovered all of the usual breakfast options and it seemed like our table was going to be a 'pick one of everything' type of groups. Service was immediate ... coffee hot and even though we were a group of 10 (yes, we sort of took over a significant part of the dining room) there was attention given to all and in my mind that immediately makes breakfast out the way it should be. I really enjoyed the hash browns and my omelet was prepared in a way that allowed me to actually taste what was inside. Kudo's to the kitchen staff. One of my dining partners was enjoying the "Nelson Breakfast" with pancakes, eggs, home fries, and ham. A bit too much for me but it really did look yummy. So, if you're headed to Niagara Falls by the old scenic River Road route and you spot this nautical small diner ... it's worth a stop. You'll feel like they've known you for years! read more

This place is fantastic!!! Food was wonderful and the coffee was great! The server was extremely friendly too! She asked if it was our first time and it was for my husband. She explained the specials and different options available for the day. She also checked on us and a couple times and was so pleasant as she came by. The greeter at the door as well very nice as well. This place is a real gem! read more

New business. Nelsons Cafe is now open ! ( I've been waiting, can you tell?) This location was formerly Serafims and when they closed I was hoping for a replacement. Enter Nelsons Cafe. An adorable little cafe on River Road. They were really busy for just opening which is great to see. The restaurant has been remodeled in a grey blue semi nautical scheme. Service was friendly and very efficient. I ordered the cinnamon swirl pancakes . The pancakes were huge and yes, you get exactly what you hope for with these - big swirls of cinnamon icing. My s/o got the steak and eggs. Steak was cooked as ordered and she stated it was a good cut. Eggs were perfect as well. The only issue she had was her toast and honestly this is often an issue for her. She likes her toast toasted just enough to melt the butter. It came pretty dark. Otherwise, everything was great and we look forward to returning in the near future. read more

First time dining here. Saw the pics on Yelp, was hoping this place lived up to the hype--it absolutely did! Delicious food. You MUST get the cinnamon pancakes!!!!! The niece got a delicious garden salad (huge w/beautiful tomatoes and bright green fresh lettuce) a generous portion of gorgeous REAL grilled chicken (not some imposter chicken heated up on a griddle/fry pan). EXCELLENT service! Clean and friendly no-nonsense place. I had bacon and eggs, tasty home fries. Will definitely be coming back! read more

Treated absolutely horribly by the staff the moment we pulled into the parking lot. The waitress walked right up to my car while I was unbuckling my children from their car seats. She was so irrationally angry she was visibly shaking and I truly felt secondhand embarrassment for her. An explanation of a policy we had apparently not followed and being politely told we would have to wait a bit longer would've sufficed (our buzzer hadn't even gone off yet) and we would've had no problem with the extra wait time. Called to speak to the manager who was equally disrespectful. She stated that we were liars and the confrontational server was a "great employee" so there was nothing she could do. I'm sure the food is great but its not worth the horrible customer service. read more

Yelped this restaurant while on vacation with the family from AZ and decided to try it out based on the great reviews. I'm so glad we decided to come here for breakfast away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas. Locally owned and the staff are AMAZING! Our waitress was literally sweet as PIE!!! The food was amazing and couldn't ask for a better experience to a local place, it wasn't very big, but that made it so much cuter!!! My family and I are fixtures here every Saturday morning, it's hands down the best breakfast in WNY. There's also always a wait so be patient, it's worth it. I've eaten Colleen's cinnamon roll pancakes every visit for as long as I can remember. These things are so addicting. I've also had the Nelson's Breakfast which is 2 eggs over-hard, home fries, 2 sausage patties and 2 pancakes. For $10 you can't beat this. The service is quick, plates are large and the staff is very friendly. This a local place, red and non-judgy. And don't park like an ahole. read more

This was the worst service experience. I am a server and the the lady with the short blonde hair NEEDS TO GET A NEW JOB !!! I called to place a take out order and she told me one min then 10 mins goes buy and this isn't the first time she has done this. She plays a game to see if you will hang up first. So I drove 15 mins to the restaurant while on hold the whole time. When I got there and told her I was there for take out her response was she can't deal with takeout orders when she is by herself. I find that odd when you are a server and you can't take a simple order over the phone quick. She was rude and just a complete turn off. I wouldn't go there. She crappy server with attitude. The restaurant isn't that big and she can't handle the 10 tables in there and take an order over the phone. Get out of this industry cause no likes a s***t server with an attitude. read more

Came here this morning with my wife and parents. Had a little bit of everything (Omelet, bacon, sausage, home fries, toast) and I can say it was all pretty enjoyable.
