I don't care for this location. 1. They never acknowledge me until they see me actually carrying more than 3 items. At that point, I'm frustrated because I had been carrying it already for some time and they already said hello to everyone but me. 2. The sales associates are not the friendliest or helpful after finally acknowledging you. 3. During the weekends, the fitting rooms are not well maintained in some departments. For being a high end store, they really should be more attentive to cleaning out fitting rooms. It really takes away from the experience as well as can ruin the clothing if something is not put away or hung correctly. And if you are paying that much for a garment, you want it to be in perfect condition, or at least I sure do! I have been here several times, and while I feel the service is inconsistent and also depends on what exactly I am wearing that day, who I am with, or what department I am in. Regardless, I feel their customer service needs to shape up and be more consistent. Remember, you do get commission and I sure am not going to waste my money and time with someone who doesn't take their time with me. I can always resort to ordering online, or from another store. These 2 stars are SOLELY dedicated to Shontelle from the dress section on the third floor. Shontelle, if you can see this message, THANK YOU. YOU are precious! Otherwise, I am UNLEASHING MY WRATH in this one: Yesterday, I went in with my future sister in law to find an engagement dress for her. My sister in law is petite, but if very high maintenance and selective. She is also a smart spender, too. For some reason, she hadn't had luck in finding THE dress, and I had been hesitant to take her to NM. Why you ask? Because the service in the dress department is HORRIFIC. I had bought a dress from the store in February of this year, and the service was very poor. I walked out utterly disgusted. Disgusted enough to drop a little line to Mr. Markus's complaints email lol. NM has very elegant and sophisticated dresses, you can not go wrong with taking a look there. BUT, be emotionally and psychologically prepared for the service that KILLS the experience. You could be literally dragging around 6 evening gowns and STILL have nobody budge to come up to you and offer a fitting room (and yes they CAN see you AND hear you swooshing around in those dresses as your either looking to pile more or looking for help). When I went in February, this older lady working there would NOT BUDGE to get me a fitting room until SHE felt like it, and after I had requested a room TWICE, THEN she didn't even bother to get me shoes although all the dresses I was trying were long gowns, AND even when I made my purchase, she was unsure whether my credit card would work because of the new card policy they had. Well, she works there, she should know. Rather than announcing that my card wouldn't work to the Galleria. (My card worked FINE). So, we saw that SAME little old lady yesterday, and my sister in law saw her and I pointed out to her that "she was the one". Can you believe that the old lady wouldn't budge to get her a fitting dress ? Why? "Because the policy is that you can only get a dressing room UNTIL you are ready to try your dresses on". I HIGHLY DOUBT that THAT'S the policy. Sis in law acted like she didn't hear anything, and insisted she wanted a fitting room and said that she wanted to try them on NOW. She was THEN given a fitting room and when she saw that her dresses were placed in the room, she walked out and was QUESTIONED WHY she walked out. Yes, now the customer is being questioned. Obviously, the customer shouldn't have to be carrying 10 dresses at a time and then not allowed to shop around more before trying all dresses. Although I had sent a complaint to NM in February and requested that the staff be reviewed again, it obviously hasn't changed anything. I will be sending another email again. Shontelle was pleasant and was not nosy and didn't bother us. She didn't play their mainstream game of "pretend like you can't see the customer". When she asked if we needed shoes, she went to the ground level just to get shoes. When we requested higher heels, she took me with her to the shoe level to pick one and was very very courteous and rang us up with no problems. We didn't even have to beg for a dress guard (like I had to do during my sorrowful experience). This lady knows what customer service is. The rest don't. May God help you Shontelle! I hope you that one day, you are able to open your own branch of NM and make those b***** WORK for you! read more

I'm going to keep this general so that no one gets fired, but I was very recently Negatively amazed on how two of their cashiers/attendants put ME on the spot to ask me to settle who had helped me. One said: "I was the one who greeted them and let them into the dressing room"....."uh..no you didn't...I did!!!" (said the other)..then they both looked me like I did something wrong. How about neither of them did a thing. I found what I was looking for myself, and the only "HELP" (if you want to call it that) was to open a door that was LOCKED, and then rang up my order. I think they need to do some Employee Retraining and explain what it means to HELP a customer. If you have the keys to a locked door and you open it for a customer, that's not helping If you ring up my order, and remove the security tags, yeah... that is not helping either. That's called doing your job. It's the minimum you could do, and arguing in front of customers for who is going to ring it up is not acceptable. read more

I love shopping here but after having my baby I've noticed things that now annoy me and think could be done better. I usually enter the store where the home stuff is. I have a stroller with me now. The doors are very clunky and hard to manage with a stroller and there's no automatic door button. What bothers me even MORE is that everytime I am coming into the store, there is at least one, usually salespeople standing in that section of the store. NO ONE moves to help me with the door instead they stand there and carry on their business and pretend they don't see me struggling. They then don't even say hello when I walk into the store. I'm not expecting doors to be opened for me everywhere I go and I don't think its a salesperson's job to be opening doors. I just think its common courtesy to do that. It makes me feel like the salespeople think they're above me and above being courteous. Also, the fact that your third floor doesn't have a ramp into the rest of the Galleria is annoying. read more

I love, love, love my sales associate, Sheila. I was looking for a specific wallet on chain and she looked through ALL of her inventory for it, and then she looked through the computer system and found one for me at the Chanel warehouse! She regularly emails me about specials and sales at NM that I'd actually be interested in, (shoes and handbags, duh!) as well as the Chanel trunk show events. Yes -- they only accept cash, check, their own card, or AMEX, but if you're shopping with a credit card that's not theirs or an AMEX, you should have enough cash/money in your bank account to purchase an item instead of charging it. The only reason I need to go here is to buy Jo Malone. I bought an outfit once, about a decade ago (Theory) but that was back when Washington was less steeped in fashion misery (now we even have a Theory outlet in Leesburg--forward, ho)! This particular occasion was to exchange a scent I got for my birthday for another. The Jo M. counter is tiny, but apparently feels the need to hold about six staffers (all dressed in the high-falutin', head-to-toe, NM black). It was a bit chaotic with just four customers, and was a very annoying and uneasy purchasing ordeal. I exchanged my scent and also picked up a body oil in another scent I adored but thought wouldn't rock well as a perfume. I asked the saleswoman what kind of oil was in the product as I couldn't really pick it up and look myself to which she replied, "I think mineral." Oh. Later, when I used it, I noticed it was actually a combination of jojoba and sweet almond oil, which is very fabulous for the skin, but not so fabulous for my nut-allergic sweet thang. Minus one star for that shit. Sex+anaphylactic shock=lawsuit, toots. When you're selling $75 body oil, you should know the ingredients. I personally feel that the shoe selection is better at Nordstrom, but the bag selection is way better at NM (although when my siblings and I bought my mom a Prada bag last year, we had to go to the Beverly Hills NM store for the one we wanted). For gorgeous statement pieces, this is a wonderful place to have, and I like it better than the Mazza location (bigger and more plentiful in stock). I feel like you can find comparable basic clothing, make-up and beauty lines elsewhere for less if you look (and I love to look, hard). NM is a spot I rarely go, so I'm not gonna front like I'm a regular at a place where one outfit can cost more than my monthly take-home pay (after taxes). Some things are worth it, but a $5,000 trend parade isn't--not yet anyway. read more

Totally agree about the service. They do size you up, and it's very 90210 that way. But they have a great selection and fantastic sales, the BEST of which are the Last Calls, which I think happen twice a year, but I get back to DC only for the one after Christmas. The small cafe is very good. I'm partial to the bread with strawberry butter, and would gladly have it for lunch if I could. I always go there when I visit my mom, and we are both reduced to giggling girls running around like mad, you know, since we're spoiled. it's very cute. When I was a kid, I used to love the toy section, as they were very well-stocked with all the Gund polar bears, in white, pink and brown, and small, medium and large. my mom used to get me stirrup pants there back in the day (that was at the Friendship Heights one, when Tysons II was still a hunk of farmland across from a young Tysons I. I take away a star because they are the best example of corporate capitalism out there, besides the Shops at Bal Harbour in Miami. read more

I know it is called Needless Markup- but call it what you will, you can't beat the service. I bought a YSL clutch and had it overnighted to me for an event. Had ordered shoes earlier in the week. Package came for the clutch, and something else (of much lesser value!) was in the box. Called immediately, and they got the handbag manager on the horn ASAP. They didn't have it in stock, so Ana WENT TO YSL AND bought it WITH HER OWN CREDIT CARD. It will all be straightened out so she is not left holding my bag financially, I can assure you now and she assured me! She went over and above. I can't believe it and certainly did not expect it at all- I'm shocked. THAT is NM service. And it is being couriered over to my place tonight- again, wasn't expecting it. NM is incredible. Wow! I normally enter high-end store expecting to be dismissed because I'm younger, and the Neimans in the District is super snooty, so I came to the Tysons store with no expectations of service, but I was pleasantly surprised by the great service in the men's department. I highly recommend working with Ramon Tioseco. Even though I was just buying a pair of trousers on sale, he treated me like I was his most important customer of the day, even though I clearly was not. Talk about impressive. Unfortunately, that level of service is not evident in other departments. The guys in men's shoes are neither helpful or professional; don't expect any help in trying on the fit because you're on your own while the salesmen stand around and stare into space. In accessories, I bought several items that went on sale the next day...it was a total pain to get a price adjustment, and the manager said that the sales associate could have easily sold the items to me as a "pre-sale" and could have avoided all the back-and-forth. Ugh. One kind of funny throwback is that the store's ashtrays are in the indoor vestibules, not outside like pretty much every place these days. This rating is based mostly on my interaction with one sales associate. My wife and I recently received some fantastic help from a sales associate named Catherine in the Women's bags section. We went to the store to browse through some bags, specifically Balenciaga and YSL, for my wife's birthday. We spent quite a bit of time talking to Catherine about the hardware and the different types of Balenciaga. Catherine even managed to find the elusive Giant 21 Silver City 2011 that my wife has been looking everywhere for. The bag was tucked away in the back of the store. Fouzia at the David Yurman counter was such a breath of fresh air compared to some of the other employees at other counters or stores I've encountered at Neiman's. Unfortunately it seems if you're not dressed to the nines, most of these other folks won't part their lips to even give a smile, let alone ask if you've been helped or need anything. Even having to rush out to observe her religious holiday, she was patient and provided exemplary customer service. It's a hike just for jewelry that I can get at Montgomery Mall which is closer to me, but if ever in that area again, and she's working that day, I'm almost certain I can be convinced into buying another bracelet from her. The Wife and I came into here after we were rejected by the Chanel boutique for a pair of shoes that she was jonesing for. Granted, I promised them to her as a combined Christmas/Birthday gift (I love it when those days are all in one season and she allows me to get away with it!) so I was on the hook to clear the tab. We walked into the shoe department and the lady immediately received us warmly. She noticed what The Wife was looking at, asked her size, and brought out both colors that would match her current outfit. She was very non-invasive and allowed The Wife to go back and forth to the mirror about 50 times in both pairs and finally decide. Granted, I ended up shelling out a McDonald's paycheck for the shoes, but hey, the look on her face was well worth it. Thanks Neiman's - you pulled my ass out of the doghouse again! Note - if you have an Amex Platinum, you get to enroll in the "In-Circle" program there. You'll rack up points a lot faster for some reason that I can't remember. read more

Inattentive men's sales person, incredibly friendly women's handbag sales rep. This NM is good if you haven't been anywhere else to shop or you're getting something basic. The men's department is incredibly unimpressive. Maybe 4 different brands of denim, minimal contemporary collection, just not a very good area at all. Another thing that pissed me off.. I used to work in retail and even if you see another customer within 5 ft of you, you speak. You don't look at him, look back, then eye him from a distance without saying anything. And then just leave the department all together... rude. The handbag associate was great. My friend was close to upgrading her collection but wasn't quite ready to do so yet. She definitely understands how to sell and is very good at it. If you're a guy looking for good shopping and must buy from NM.. do it online. Or just go over to Saks or Bloomingdales.. much friendlier sales associates and way better selection. read more

If I could I would give this 3.5 stars. It seems that the men's department which used to encompass the entire lower level has been moved upstairs and then cut in half the size. I noticed a lot of the brands that they used to carry for men are not there anymore. There was an awful lot on clearance however. The store is three levels, there are more options for women and still a very decent selection of colognes and unique perfumes but it isn't as great a location for men's upscale clothing anymore. read more

High end merchandise, extremely helpful sales associates, Incircle rewards, perk cards, and on and on and on!!!! This is the epitome of luxury shopping. Granted, it's nowhere near the caliber of the downtown Dallas location, (first Neiman-Marcus store) but its remarkable to find REAL shopping in northern Virginia. The cosmetics and skin care department is slightly more limited in their selections, but they do have my favorites: Natura Bisse, Sisley, and Chanel. The sales associates are very eager to offer free samples, answer questions, and make recommendations. I can't say that about many other places! Clothing is fantastic in both women's wear and men's. The Intimate Apparel section should be in every women's must go to list. Really ladies of this area - enough with the sagging, VPL, and headlights - get thee to Neiman's for some help. I recently started liking Neiman Marcus again, but only because of Chanel. The staff there is so friendly and helpful! Even when you are not physically in front of them! Let me elaborate.... So, I was sitting at home hunting down a pair of Chanel earrings, but I did not know the name of them. I called the actual Chanel boutique (in the same mall, a couple stores apart)... only because I prefer the whole Chanel packaging, camellia flower and all :)) but the SA had no idea what I was talking about and she seemed kind of busy. Then, I call Neimans and I tried to describe it to the SA, but she said she would need to see a picture. We ended up texting each other back and forth pics. She went above and beyond! I wish I remembered her name. Also, there's a very nice Asian woman that works there. Every time my girlfriend and I have came there, we've talked to her. She is so funny and sweet. She is very honest. She does not try to pressure you and sell you on things. For years, I was not a big fan of Neimans but Chanel really makes you change your opinion. Kind of! :) read more

I came here to get a pair of Christian Louboutin "So Kate". When I got there they didn't have my size available for purchase but one of the sales people, Elonda Esi, let me try on some shoes that were on hold for someone else so that I knew what size to order. She ordered me a pair of shoes and within a week I got the shoes shipped to my door free of charge. There was a minor defect on the bottom of the shoes so I contacted the store immediately so I could exchange them. Elonda called me first thing the next morning to inform me that they had the same shoe in the size I was looking for and she exchanged the shoes for me all under 10 minutes. Quick service is a big deal to me because I am always in a rush to be somewhere else. I have always shopped at Neiman Marcus because I love their products but I have never had as awesome customer service anywhere as I have continually experienced at Tyson's. I am very pleased with how professional and helpful she was. She even texted me a few days later to let me know they got a new shipment of shoes in nude color and in case I wanted them she said she was going to hold on to it. She is very considerate. I had the worst customer service experience today at this location at the hands of Margaret Womer the manger in Special Occassion dresses. My boyfriend bought me two dresses, one very expensive, very lovely Herve Leger dress and one less expensive, not so nice Sachin and Babi. I went into exchange the Sachin and she refuses to let me exchange or return the dress. I was humiliated. We've spent quite a bit in the location, I've bought a YSL purse (from Elliot who was terrific luckily) in addition to the two dresses so for me to be treated like a common thief is reprehensible. I will be reporting her to corporate and anyone else who will listen. This is disgusting treatment of a loyal shopper and I will not tolerate it. read more

I've actually had phenomenal service here. Once, I bought a pair of boots from the Neiman Marcus Atlanta location. I had it shipped, and I somehow ended up "misplacing" it during my move. Somehow, I ended up discovering the missing boots a year later. Ouch. I didn't love the boots as much, and I really had no desire to keep these boots and hogging my very limited storage space. I took a chance and took to boots to Neimans. I didn't even had the receipt, but they somehow located my purchase and gave me a FULL REFUND. I know that they can't sell those at full price anymore so I was floored. I love you Neimans. Thank you for understanding, and I will be a return customer for life. read more

Where do I start! Well first never buy furniture online and secondly never buy it from Neiman Marcus. Neiman Marcus has a return policy that you can return furniture within 30 days if it's not to your satisfaction! However, I don't believe they really want you to return the furniture and they try to do anything they can for you not to return it! I received my bed that costs 2k. That same day I received it I called Neiman Marcus because I was displeased with my or purchase. So one of there reps got on the phone and started to give me the third degree about why I wanted to return it, then he started making suggestions on things Neiman Marcus could do Instead of a refund then he asked if they left boxes so that I could ship it back via FedEx??? He didn't ask if I wanted to return it for something else. After 10 minutes of his interrogation!!! I told him I had white glove treatment there was no boxes it was set up in my house and that they need to send someone to come and get it, then he put me in hold and hung up! This is supposed to be a high end store and I have received better customer service at Bob's Discount Furniture!!!!! So I called back and another rep said that he would submit my return request but couldn't provide a date, time, or amount that I have to pay to return the bed or confirmation email? All he could tell me that somebody would give a a call between 2-3 weeks to schedule me an appointment. Well I thought that he was making this up to get me off the phone???! So of course I called back the next day to confirm that a return request was made and when I was talking to the representative she said her system went down and to hold on of course I was disconnected and nobody called me back. So on the fourth call I immediately asked the representative to put a supervisor on the line he put me on hold.... Here we go again!!! The supervisor apologized for my"experience " but she verified that Jorge had submitted my return request but she did not have any other information to provide??? What kind of business is this? they promise you can return furniture, you call to try to return, and they make it difficult... I will follow up with an update as soon as I get a furniture pick up "scheduled" Neiman Marcus should be ashamed of themselves this is not how you conduct a upscale customer service experience!!!! read more

Usually I would give NM a 5, however, this time I have to give them a big thumbs down. First I walked around the store for 10 minutes to make a return and not one person would help me. I live over a 100 miles away, so it's difficult to get to and from the store with work travel and kids in travel sports. Anyway, I had no idea that 7 months ago, they changed their policy from 60 to 30 days. After the treatment I received in their store, I will never shop at Neiman Marcus Tyson's galleria again. And they may lose me as a customer completely very shortly given their inflexible behavior. I would recommend finding a different Neiman's to shop at over this store. read more

Although the merchandise they carry are most of the top brands, their service is not the best. I had stopped shopping there couple of years ago for similar reason, but I wanted to give it another try. I recently went to buy some shoes for my wife. Their selection of available size was limited. I had to order 1 of the two pairs of Christian Louboutin shoes I purchased. I opted for the expedited shipping since it was a gift. While the salesperson was at the register, I noticed the phone was off the hook. I thought to myself that was odd since it took about 15 minutes for him finishing ordering and ring me up. The sales person promised me he would call as soon as they come in. 4 days later I still had not heard from him. I called his number on his card and went VM immediately. I called the store and after 30-35 rings, someone answered. I asked about my shoes, he informed me that my salesperson was gone for the day. I asked if he could look into it, he took my information and put the phone down. I held for 20 minutes, while hearing the store noise in the background. It was as if I had seen my own fortune when I saw the phone off the hook when I purchased the shoes. Customer service should be as important the quality of the product. I've never been offered a water here, and I'm particularly annoyed about their broken POS. It took 3 attempts to finally get the transaction to post on Neiman's end. All 3 charges showed up on my card although one of them was eventually dropped. Tried to call the department where the charge was made but the phone rang a few times and then just stopped ringing. Terrible experience today the sales associates at this location are very pushy, ignorant, and opinionated. I went in to buy a byredo perfume and the woman behind the counter was trying to force me to buy multiple Roja fragrances. She kept telling me the quality of byredo sucks and roja is better even after I told her I was uninterested. Then the woman told me to only smell the few byredo fragrances they had in stock as if she couldn't order the others she just wanted an instant sale. She also told me if If I spent 1000 in store I'd get a 700 gift card as she kept reminding me of the deal the price of the gift card deceased to 250 . I already knew what I was coming to buy and was smelling other fragrances in the line because byredo is rarely in department stores. She was so annoying I went to saks across the way to buy the fragrance instead. The last time I was at this location the same thing happened with another sales associate a fragrance was out of stock and I said it's okay I'll buy it online and she told me the perfume online comes from a warehouse it is watered down formula and isn't the same product as in-store. My shopping experience here was very uncomfortable if made me wasn't to leave immediately. I'm definitely going to call in and file a complaint. read more

I expected exceptional service here, however, it was completely pitiful. I walked into Neiman Marcus looking for a costly winter jacket but did not see my size. After searching for quite some time, I found a sales person in the department. As I approached her for assistance, I noticed that she was on her personal cell phone browsing Facebook. I asked my question and, without even looking up, she simply said, "What's on the rack is what we have." I pressed on and discovered a mannequin with the size I needed. I reapproached the salesperson to request additional assistance regarding the jacket on the mannequin. She was back in her original spot, yet again, browsing Facebook! Reluctantly, she walked over to the mannequin (still browsing Facebook, while walking!) and removed the jacket for me to try on. After handing me the jacket, she walked off. She did not return. There were no follow-up questions asking if it fit well or if I needed additional assistance for a different product. I left that particular department angered and then went on to look for a pair of leather shoes to go along with a recent suit purchase. I inquired about some Ferragamo shoes. The salesman barely gave me any of his time, as he seemed too busy restocking some inventory. In addition to this, he could not give me an answer to any of the questions I had for him! I later noticed a Ferragamo store location already in Tyson's Galleria and their customer service was wonderful. I will never give my business to Neiman Marcus after such a horrid experience. read more

My visit today made me a Saks customer for life. Earlier this winter I purchased a $1,300 Fleurette coat which I LOVE. I normally would purchase a coat from Saks but only neimans carries this coat. I needed to have the sleeves shortened just a tad but kept putting it off. When I purchased the coat, I was told to bring it back and have it altered. I felt safer having neimans alter the coat since that is where I purchased it. So I brought in the coat. First, the sales lady acted like she didn't believe me I purchased the coat there. Then after waiting for ten minutes to see the alterations lady, I was told I have to dryclean it first. I live in DC and no way am I going to take it to a dry cleaner (which would require one that specializes in fur) and then drive all the way back to Virginia. I mean c'mon. I tried explaining this to them but they didn't seem to get it. They acted like I don't know how to find a dry cleaner and told me there is one in the mall. Be careful with this store. Their return policy is BOGUS. I made an in-store shoe purchase at the Tyson's II store. A beautiful St. Laurent shoe that I needed for an event a few days later. The sales associate assured me that I'd have the shoe in a few days. She charged me for the shoe over $700 prior to it shipping from another store location in Pennsylvania. I asked her to please send me the shipping confirmation so I would know when it would be arriving. She said she would send it the same evening. The next morning I called customer service to see if the order had shipped. The rep told me that the shoe's shipment was still pending but that it was set to arrive on July 30th! I was shocked. That was almost 12 days away. I cancelled the order on the 20th. The item still had not shipped. I asked for a refund as my card was charged but no merchandise was ever sent. The rep assured me that it was refunded. She stated that I would get an email confirming the return in 24 hours. 5 days later, no refund and no confirmation. In between this time, I called several times asking for a refund confirmation. None has been provided. To date, my money has not been returned to my bank account for a pair of shoes that never shipped. I'm going into the store today about the matter. I keep getting the run around from the store. I recommend consumers shop at Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, or SAKS. They have better customer service, better return policies and they only charge your card when the item ships. Take heed... read more

5 stars for LV and Chanel. I took off one star because the sales associates in the shoe department treated me as if they weren't interested in my business even though they all were lined up along the wall "waiting to help." I LOVE the Chanel boutique in this store and prefer this one over the one in the mall. The sales associates are so nice and helpful. I've worked with a SA named Shim each time that I've shopped here and she is the best. Very nice and sweet. When she found out that I was driving over an hour just to come to that store she gave me some bottles of water and packs of cookies for my drive home. I thought that was a very nice gesture. I also received great service in LV. I don't remember the sales associates name but she was very nice and helpful. read more

If I could give this store a 1/2 star I would. Came into the store to purchase my daughter a pair of Christian Louboutin sandals for her college graduation. The sales associates were not helpful! Once I was able to gain the attention of one of them, he seemed annoyed. I went to Saks Fifth Avenue and purchased the sandals. The sales associate went above and beyond to accommodate me.My money spends very well there! read more

I stop by this store occasionally to look at the men's ties. They have absolutely the best (and most expensive) men's ties of any store in the mall or the Tysons area. But whenever I'm there the salesmen are on top of me right away and don't back off much when I make it clear I want to be left alone. Even when they move away I can sense them watching me intently from a distance. This makes me nervous and uncomfortable. They also immediately re-place a tie if I've picked it up to look at it and put it back down, like I'm a slob and they have to pick up after me. Back off guys.
