Wow... okay... first I want to let everyone know that there are TWO mechanic shops on this little strip of HW49. I mistakenly came to this one assuming that since it's not quite on the corner of said cross streets it was the one I was looking for. If you want the short version of this debacle, head on down to the last paragraph now.
For those of you sticking with me for this journey, here's what happened: I showed up on a Monday to see what their availability was and they told me that they couldn't see me until Wednesday morning. They seemed to know what they were talking about so I booked an appointment for Wednesday. They told me it was first come, first served, despite having an appointment, so to get there early and they open at 8:00. I arrived at 7:55 am and was the first one there. I dropped off my car and asked for them to perform four services.
Fix the power/stutter issue I was having when I accelerated
Replace/repair the starter if it needed it.
Fix the cruise control
Adjust the parking break and take a look at the breaks
As the day went on I started to wonder when I'd hear from them. At 4:15 I decided I should call to see what the status was since they close at 5:00. I was told that they were "Just about to take a look at it". I was floored. They'd had my car for over 8 hours and hadn't even taken a look at it????
Since Wednesday was the only day I could be without my car I went down to pick it up. After talking to the mechanic working on it "The Bald Shaved head White Guy", he thought he'd fixed the power/stutter issue and was about to take it for a test drive then fix the parking break. I found this a little odd, since it had only been about 20 minutes since I spoken with them on the phone and they hadn't even touched the truck.
Regardless, I waited while they stayed late to finish up. I spoke with the bald guy again (the owner??) and said how frustrated I was that they had my car all day and had barely touched it. He gave me some half hearted "sorry 'bout that" and in a round about way indicated that he was on a bad day. The entire time he stared at his computer screen and didn't look my direction at all.
Then it was time for me to pay, and he was EXTREMELY ready to come talk to me then. He said that they had fixed a vacuum leak, which will make the car run better (but I still needed to get an O2 sensor) and the parking break. I paid them $386, got in my car and instantly noticed the power/stutter was still there. I kept driving for a few blocks. The car was still stuttering as I drove back and when I pulled in I said to the bald guy that I would likely never see him again and that I felt I was ripped off.
This is where the story gets interesting... another employee, we will call him "Old Tweeker looking Guy", overhearing this got in my face, I'm not kidding about this... he got in my face and started to scream, "you think this is MY fault?!" he screamed! Considering they had my car for 10 hours at this point, and, by all appearances, had only managed to fix the parking break, yes, I did think it was his fault.
They talked about the hoses they had replaced and offered to put the old ones back on but wouldn't refund my money. I wouldn't agree to this, and this is where Old Tweeker looking guy lost his sh*t. He was in the work bay throwing things around, screaming, and yelling. He was yelling at Bald guy that he "won't f*cking touch my car again" then he started yelling at Bald guy not to refund me and that he'd personally write me a check instead, made out of his fecal material. Old tweeker Guys tirade, and it can only be described as a tirade, would be terrifying for the majority of people, and I hope a single mother NEVER has to complain about her service at this place. After his temper tantrum in the work bay he stormed over to his old busted down looking Harley (which sounded like it needed ALOT work itself... he's a mechanic... just sayin) and flew out of the parking lot, engine revving and a cloud of anger, hate and wrath trailing behind him.
So let's summarize... This shop told me to be there at 8 for first come first serve service. They didn't tell me there were cars backed up from the day before. They had my car for 10 hours. In this time they managed to fix my parking break and install a couple of rubber hoses that didn't do anything for the performance of the truck. I paid almost $400 bucks ($89.50 was for a check engine diagnosis that auto zone will do for FREE), and I was verbally attack, and berated by a mechanic with clear anger and probable drug issues. I'm shocked that these guys are in business! I can only imagine the horror that a single mother would face at this mechanic's shop.
It's funny, I drive past this shop every day and it seems like they're always working on the exact same cars and trucks!!
If you value your car, your wallet, or your life... NEVER go here.
I only give it 1 star because I cant give it ZERO read more
