Ned Devine's is an otherwise unremarkable bar, with nothing particular bad about it but very little to recommend it either. Came here twice with some friends and the place is pretty deserted, even on Saturday nights. If you sit at the bar, make sure you do so near other people or you may not get as many callbacks (as happened to us). Our service from a server while in a booth was far better (if similarly lacking enthusiasm), so that's your best bet if you have four or less in your group. It's hard to gauge what is a "fair price" for food and drink these days, though to me these prices seemed a bit high. That said, the Reuben was excellent and the beer was good, so it's worth it. They have daily specials, but outside of the trivia, none of them are enough to make you want to specifically come out for them. Plentiful parking, and some nice outdoor seating as well. All things considered, while I would return here if my friends insisted on it, there's not much that puts this bar above others. Bar service was almost non existent, waited for 9 minutes before a bartender to come around to the side I was on, I ordered the fish and chips, the fish was thin and mostly breading, hardly a piece of fish in the 3 slivers of deep fried coating, chips were good. It's spacious, has a lot of themed nights, has good food and is so conveniently located to where I live in Herndon! It's a typical pub atmosphere and good for a night of watching sports with all the TVs in there. My husband has loved their Irish food options, especially! My work team also used some of the private space once and utilized was very accommodating! The staff is great and very kind- one night they were out of Caesar dressing for my Caesar salad, and ended up giving me a free dessert! It set a great first impression for me that night and we've gone back a few times since and will continue to support this place as a result. read more

I was there with a friend on Oct. 27th and paid $10 cover charge...not sure what it was for. I guess I left before the "event". We sat at the bar, and the poor bartender was totally overwhelmed, the bar lost a TON of money from customers leaving or frustrated with the long wait time to get a simple beer. The bartender did a fantastic job keeping it together and doing the best he could in such horrible conditions. Spent a weekend in Sterling, VA and visited Ned Devine's for lunch. The place is huge and the service was very good. My wife had the Irish Stew, which she said was delicious. I had the the Dublin Stuffed Burge, and it was awesome. We didn't get an alcoholic beverages on this trip due to the fact that we were tired and just wanted to get some lunch and get to our hotel. This atmosphere in the place is good, and can tell it's more of a night life sports bar. They have various entertainment available each night. I would definitely visit here again. read more

The "toasted bread" was two slices of toasted baguette, feels like it was too little bread for the stew. However, this place really is just not great. Both my pre covid and post covid experiences were meh. The food is below average pub fare. The Irish food isn't very good nor is the American food. Not sure if they use all frozen food and just deep fry it, but they don't make the calories worth it. Service the first time was inattentive, borderline rude. Service the second time was inattentive but moreso incompetent or just a bad server. Granted post covid life is depressing, but two tables shouldn't be hard to tend to. Viewable TVs everywhere you follow your favorite sporting events or news. Menu more extensive than what I expected. Pleasantly surprised with the Irish entrees offered. Took my buddies and was waiting for this terrible experience to happen ..... except it did not. It's an Irish Pub in a standard shopping center. Huge building actually. Lots of square feet. I am sorry to write this review as I don`t like panning restaurants, but feel its important as I don`t think we had a chance to say much about the meal. The place is comfortable, probably a good bar bar. But our food was really unpleasant. We had the herb salmon with lemon risotto. And margherita pizza with small side salad. The salmon was very salty, not herby, and it came with a mountain of risotto but no veggies? The pizza was dreadful-soggy with too much cheese and no crispness at all to the crust. Side salad was fine. Service was decent, but could have been improved by asking us why we ate so little of our meal. I hope this was a one-off, but don`t think we could come back again. I do regret not being more assertive about the food and giving the restaurant a chance to do better as I think this is always the way to approach a poor meal. This place need to be reviewed based on 3 criteria - food, service and the vibe. I usually visit this establishment with my friends when they play live music. So I haven't tried all their items. Of the items I've tried, I liked their cajun seasoned fries, one of the best in this area and chicken nachos. Their chicken quesadillas were just okay, instead of crispy it was too soggy for my taste. They bring quite a few good bands for live music. But the way the restaurant floor is arranged and the lighting system (too dark) and the decor, the vibe is really missing here. I would prefer Jimmy's (another locally owned establishment) over this place, for their food, ambiance and service. Now about the service, I usually sit at the bar and one of the 2 girls in the bar (tattooed, ears pierced) is always rude, she doesn't even acknowledge your presence or your order, she just throws food at you. During one of the recent visits, me and my friend patiently waited 20 minutes trying to get her attention to close the tab, and it was not even a busy night. There were hardly 20 patrons in the whole restaurant. After patiently trying to get her attention, my friend got out of the bar stool to get her attention and that's what she screamed SIT DOWN! It was such a rude, mean, disgusting way to treat your customers. My friend is a gentle soul and we were not even drunk to be treated that way. I am not returning to this establishment ever again. No one need to take this kind of attitude. You don't need to treat customer as a king, but just a little courtesy will go a long way. read more

The soft pretzel was good but the cheese dip must have sat in the back for a while or been pre-portioned because it has hardened on top. The rest was nothing special but not bad either. The wife and I visited Ned's last night for a quick bite to eat. We ended up staying for more than four hours and having an absolute blast! I can't remember what the wife had, but I had the Irish stew with lamb and it was absolutely delicious! They have a great beer selection, especially their beers on tap. The server was also super friendly and welcoming. Additionally, because of the cool decor, I was able to give my wife a history lesson about Edward "Ned" Kelly. GrubHub delivery order. What I liked: The entire order was correctly prepared - nothing was missing or overlooked. All dishes were very tasty and the burgers were cooked to our choice of medium rare. Lots of fries and onion rings! Yea! What I didn't like: I ordered a side of Colcannon and potato skins. The quantity received was only half of what I would have expected. Colcannon is a peasant dish, basically mashed potatoes mixed with cabbage, kale and/or herbs. So you'd expect a generous (or even one full) serving, right? No. Receive maybe 1/2 of a cup. And for $8.50, I'd expect more than three tiny potato skins. These items are waaaay overpriced for what you receive. I'll be happy to try Ned Devine's again, but will avoid those expensive side dishes. read more

I went this is past week a couple times on a business trip. The first visit, the server was very friendly as well as the hosts. However, the next visit a male server was extremely inattentive and did not pay my coworker and I much mind. The hostess was kind enough to take our order and bring our drinks. After asking the server to split the price of an appetizer because it was a business trip, he said he was not able to. I informed him that they were able to do this the day before with no issues. He then told me not to raise my voice at him. When I complained to the kind hostess, he confronted me about the problem, to which I was uncomfortable and told him that he was rude to us for no reason. Worst steak ever. We went on a Monday for the steak special. I ordered the 12 oz NY strip. Fatty and disgusting cut of meat. Over four ounces were pure fat. I shared my dissatisfaction with the very attentive waitress. She checked with the manger Cassie. Cassie intimated that I'm out for a free meal. Because we had cut out the fat from the steak and eaten the little meat that remained. Our plates where littered from chunks of fat from the steak. So sorry it's my neighborhood bar restaurant, we have been happy returning customers and tip very well. We love the awesome waitstaff. Unfortunately, after tonight's meal, We'll never return. Made a reservation at Ned's for myself and 15+ friends to meetup and watch the opening night of NFL action. Arrived to find we had the back section and at 8pm we would be sharing the space with Country Line dancing. But we were told, once the party on the other side of the bar, was over, we could move over there. Our waitress would follow us. Everything worked out great. Our waitress Carrie, was amazing!!! She got all the orders correct, new exactly who ordered what. She was patient, attentive, and I'll say it again, amazing!!! Everyone had a great time. Hands down the best restaurant we've been to in a long time. We stopped in for a late lunch on a Wednesday. We ordered way too much food because we expected the portions to be smaller, but that meant leftovers for two days!! We ordered the giant pretzel as an appetizer- my German grandmother would have been proud to serve this herself and I never would have expected to find a handmade, massive pretzel at an Irish pub. A great start to any meal. The corned beef and cabbage brought tears to my eyes- taking me back to my grandmother's kitchen. It was served over colcannon with a great presentation. Not to tender, not to tough- this was perfectly prepared. The shepherd's pie blew my mind. Perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked, and filled with the love of a chef who clearly takes pride in their work. Shortly after the food came out I had to take a call for work, the bartender (who may be the owner) came over and took my plate off the table. The plate was placed under the warmer and returned by the server just as my call was ending. When I got off the phone and noticed how hot my food was my wife explained what had happened. Seriously - where else can you get this level of service these days? The waitress was so amazingly personable and she knew everything there was to know about the menu. We left feeling like we'd just eaten dinner at a family members home and like we'd paid way too little for the food. We came back two days later for take out dinner. The Guinness stew and beef pie were equally impressive. The bar staff that night was equally friendly and knowledgeable. My teammates like to go here after our weekly games for drinks. They don't have any drink specials by the time we get there though and there's only one size. I just recently tried the old bay fries on their late night menu and the horseradish dipping sauce that comes on the side has a nice kick to it!
