Most of the cocktails came with fancy show of some sort and were extravagant - and equally delicious. I got The Inside Passage, but there were at least three others I was trying to chose from. There was a lot of thought that went into the presentation of each of the drinks and I love that attention to detail. Since it was around dinner time I did want to order food and drink. They did not have the Kikisoba (they ran out) and that made me sad, but I was able to order the Rumba sliders and a basket of fries. Roquette was a surprisingly small space with a wonderful vibe serving up "destination" bar-worthy cocktails. It reminded me of some of the neighborhood gem cocktail bars that I'd frequented on the East Coast. I grabbed a seat at the bar. Roquette's lineup of cocktails were varied in flavor profile using a wide range of spirits. They also served non-alcoholic offerings which looked equally intriguing as their boozy selections. I started off with the 99 Problems ($28), which, unfortunately, I forgot to note what was in the drink. It was boozy, clever, inventive, and most importantly delicious. My second drink was the Imperium Old Fashioned ($24) made with Westland Whiskey "Roquette" Barrel, Clement Cask Strength Rhum, Old Delicious Apple Brandy, Pineapple, and Spice. It was an excellent, boozy, balanced update to the classic Old Fashioned. Although I went with drinks off their menu, I have no doubt that any of their skilled bar professionals could've crafted me a wonderful cocktail if I had simply requested a classic or something on the fly based on my choice of spirit and desired flavor profile. Yes, the prices on the two drinks I ordered were pretty steep, but they were comparable to prices I've paid in Las Vegas. Plus, I don't have a problem with paying a premium for a well-made cocktail made with premium ingredients in a comfortable, welcoming setting (the drunken guy next to me who tried to engage with me in a political discussion excluded). Or maybe for a work happy hour if the boss is paying! Staff were friendly and service worked like a well-oiled machine. Pretty small space overall, seating for maybe 20 parties plus a bar (unless there's a back room somewhere that I didn't see). There's a outdoor bar/counter; not sure if it's available during the warmer months or if it's now a relic of early COVID outdoor dining. They do take reservations. This is an automatic 20% service charge place, which is fine as they're very clear and upfront about it. The awkward part is the credit card reader then also asks you to add a 2%, 4%, or 6% tip and it's set up such that the user interface makes it more difficult to add 0 tip than to add an additional tip. Besides which, the wait person is staring at you (and the screen) the whole time. From a monetary perspective, I don't mind tipping an extra ~5% on top of the service fee, as I would have tipped around 25% regardless, but I hate coercive UX/UI design choices like this on principle because it's skeezy. I hope the 20% is at least going to the staff and not leaving them to tip out off of people's 2% tips because that would be rough....!
