Navis Pack & Ship shipped three valued items across the country for me, from Northern Virginia to the San Francisco Bay Area. One was a priceless painting my mother painted and another was a small 18th-century chest that my mother had left me. The third was a small drum table with a broken leg. The two men who collected the items took great care with them and the items all arrived in California very well wrapped and in excellent shape. It even looked as if the packers had glued the leg together! The price was better than I was quoted by other shippers, who had a minimum that assumed more volume than I had. He carefully examined each piece BEFORE they were packed to make sure they were in good condition. He patiently answered all my questions about shipping them clear across the country. Important Fact: Navis posts a number of flattering "reviews" AND ARTFULLY FAILS TO PROVIDE A PORTAL ON THEIR WEB SITE TO LEAVE A REVIEW. I posted a negative review on Yelp for this business, but found it impossible to leave it on their site for other potential customers to review for a more balanced report card. This is an intentional devious business decision by Navis that serves the MD and VA areas!!!! Navis website disclosure: We will create the right custom packing and shipping solution for your items; and just so you have peace of mind, we will provide you with personalized service and attention including updates and tracking information about your shipment. Navis failed to initially inform me: "Our trucks handle pickups and deliveries within Delaware, Maryland and Virginia... we use third-party carriers for out-of-state deliveries." My delivery was in CA. Navis does not track third-party shipments by their website commitment. Rather, Navis provided a "tracking site" for the third-party carrier. Per the third-party carrier status, the shipment left Navis on September 16, 2025, and on the following day, September 17, 2025, it arrived in CA at 2:07 a.m. September 18, 2025: Hayward, [CA - in storage] September 19, 2025: Hayward " September 20, 2025: Hayward " September 21, 2025: Hayward " September 22, 2025: Hayward " September 23, 2025: Hayward " September 24, 2025: Shipment delivered. In spite of the shipping costing as much of the item-we knew that a huge painting would cost that much-we were pleased how easy it was to deal with Navis. The holiday created a delay which worked for us too. Got the painting yesterday. It was beautifully packed. It was also easily unpacked. Thanks for a safe and quick shipment. Amazing quality work! We didn't deal with a million styrofoam pieces so we did not have a mess when unpacking. We've already recycled the box and will use other cardboard to kill weeds in the garden! read more

Amazing service, professional and thorough! I purchased a painting from an online auction that had tremendous sentimental value. Luckily the auction house uses Navis for "long haul deliveries" and Navis contacted me for shipping and delivery information. When I explained its importance, Steve Wells arranged for it to be crated, shipped and delivered with "white glove service" that exceeded my expectations. I was kept informed of the status without having to ask. The painting arrived in perfect condition. It was packed so well. I can't recommend Navis Pack and Ship enough! After having used Navis pack and ship in the past... they did nothing to compensate me for the 4 out of 6 artworks they destroyed in transit. One of which they damaged on the way to the packing warehouse because of mishandling, and three of which arrived to the site damaged (I can only assume because they were handled poorly in transit). It was nothing short of a complete nightmare. I'd reconsider if they took any initiative to compensate me in any way for the situation but it seemed that wouldn't be the case after talking to them on the phone. Very unhappy with the shipping service, and the customer service only compounded the issue. I get that things can happen... but it's next level not to care or take responsibility. I'm surprised to be the first one to write a review for this business. I needed to protect and ship a pretty large / heavy / delicate surface art piece from DC to NY, so I naturally went online and did my google search. I wanted to know economical options so I asked 4 companies for their quotes on the piece. One was a prestigious looking company that specialized in art crating and shipping - but they said it would take 2 weeks and the price range was extremely expensive. Also, when I called them back after receiving their quote, it took them 3days to get back to me. Others, also said they will take about 2-3weeks, expensive pricing, and a week to get back to me for my quote because they only accepted inquiries through an online form. When I called Navis, all the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. When I told them my situation, and asked for 'economical options' they said they can package it really well with no crating for my needs. They also mentioned that I can save on budget by bringing the piece to the location myself. They gave me exactly all the advice I needed as a customer. I do have to mention, given all the options from Navis, even if I were to choose their crating option, they had the best prices of all quotes too! With that in mind, their immediate responses to everything gave me a good sense of how reliable they were, so even IF their prices were not the cheapest, I would have chosen them just for the sheer fact that I felt like I could trust them in handling my precious belongings. Navis helped me out step by step via phone and email all the way through. They called me every time there was an update to my package, while they also sent me an email, and I could not believe how professional they were. This review is for YRC Freight in Manassas, VA. They were HORRIBLE. They called and said I had three days to receive my shipment, otherwise I would pay $30/day. I told them that I could not take off from work on such short notice and asked them if they would deliver the following week. They were rigid, inflexible, and not customer-service oriented. In as many words, they told me to pound sand. So, I had Costco call them, because that is who I ordered the items from. I thought that a big company like Costco could have some leverage with YRC. Wrong! YRC also told Costco to pound sand. Pam at YRC was thoroughly unhelpful and rigid. If you order anything from Costco, tell them NOT to use YRC. They are horrible. read more

I purchased a large Persian carpet from a local auction house and needed it shipped to Idaho. I inquired at several shippers, most would either not return a call or email. Navis quickly answered email with an estimate, which I felt was reasonable and fair. They retrieved the carpet from auction house, packed it and emailed me with final price, which was very close to original estimate. Changes were for insurance value and weight ( very heavy). I would definitely have them ship for me in the future. Nice job of packing! read more

Had a mixed experience with this vendor. After seeking a quote for moving what was clearly a small amount of household goods, I was offered a price well below that of household good movers. This was due to the distance involved in the move (VA to CA) and the minimum pricing charged by those vendors. After some initial back and forth, I accepted the quote for pickup, packing and "white glove" delivery service inside my new place. The pickup went very smoothly, with Navis MD personnel efficiently loading the pieces that had been identified. Customer service following the pickup was also professional and complete. The problem started at delivery. The delivery service, which was not a Navis franchise, but a subcontractor of Yellow that Navis had subcontracted to, arrived at the site and informed me that their contract only specified that they dropped the two pallets of goods in the garage. After my refusal, these personnel contacted their supervisor, who changed their instructions to delivering sealed boxes into the rooms I needed them. These personnel refused to unbox the goods, place the goods or remove the debris. I complained to Navis MD, who tried to convince me that "White Glove" in the freight world only meant inside delivery. I showed them their own website which said something completely different (specifically including debris removal), but they initially refused to do anything more. Had this remained the state of affairs, the rating would have been one star, but Navis then did arrange for a local Navis franchise owner to come to my home, unbox the goods and remove the debris. Unfortunately, despite all the claims of careful packing and shipping, Navis managed to lose the furniture for a bed, and damaged a bookshelf during the unpacking. I recognize that damage can happen, but losing the bed hardware is just unacceptable. Navis tries hard, but I would not consider using them again. If you decide to use them, make sure that you have a clear understanding, in writing, of what will be done in terms of delivery. Also, be aware that unlike moving companies, insurance is not excess. if you do not take insurance, you will have absolutely no recourse for the things they damage or lose. read more

I remotely purchased three pieces of furniture from a consignment store in MD so need to have someone go to the store, pack the items and ship then to CA. The store recommended Navis MD so went to their webpage and asked for a quote. The owner Steve called me the same day ( Saturday ) and we discussed what Navis MD would do and arrange ( curbside vs in-house, tailgate lift, insurance etc ). While there was a small issue with the estimate which Steve resolved, quickly and to everyones satisfaction, the entire process was very smooth and the costs were reasonable. Navis MD went to the store to collect and package the items which they did by taking each piece wrapping it in bubble wrap, the edges were then covered in corrugated paper, then the lot was covered in clear wrap. The wrapped items were then placed into cardboard boxes and were braced with foam, the boxes were then placed onto a pallet, wrapped with clear wrap, metal banded to the pallets and then covered with a thicker black wrap. We ended up with two pallets totaling just under 600 lbs. The items were collected by the LTL freight company, YRC, Jan 15 and delivered to us on Jan 23 with email notifications arriving every time the status of the freight changed which was nice. As the items were extremely well packaged I have a mountain of bubble wrap, corrugated paper and cardboard! I highly recommend Steve and his team and would not hesitate to use them again in the future as they are very responsive and helpful and did an excellent job. read more

I have recently had to send a collection of household goods (books, furniture, paintings) to Chicago from Rockville. The folks at Navis were simply fabulous all along the way, from responding promptly to my request for a quote to showing up on a snow day. Steve (the owner) and Bruce were very nice and professional throughout the move despite having spent most of their day on I-95 in one of the worst traffic days of the year. Each time I had special requests and constraints in which all of the employees I worked with were more than happy to accommodate my schedule and needs. Three times they also shipped belongings across country and within the state. All the valuables were carefully packed and nothing arrived broken.
