No frills, solid service, and great food! Who would have thought I'd find one of the best pancakes ever in Troy. So happy to have the home fries chopped smaller so they're crispier. Surprised that their side of bacon of $5 comes with 5 pieces!! Inflation? Not here. Can't wait to be back!

I've been to Naughters twice, and honestly, I'm a little surprised by its high rating. It's an adorable diner with charming interiors that have a vintage vibe. When you enter, you'll find a few tables and some bar seats. Due to the limited seating, depending on the day and time, you might encounter a wait. The menu at Naughters is small. I've tried their vegetable hash and the eggplant sandwich. The food was just okay, but it was nice to see the chefs cooking right in front of you in the open kitchen. The staff were quick, patient, and attentive. The coffee was also just okay. One advantage this spot has is that it's open till 2:30 AM on Fridays and Saturdays, making it a potential go-to for a late-night bite after drinks. I felt like my experience was pretty average, and I probably wouldn't go out of my way to visit again.

Its 800am on the NY Thruway. We have been on the road since 5am, and I start to wonder where we can stop for brekky. I pull up google maps and Naughters rises to top like cream. I move to yelp and lots of good reviews here too. They were rated 5 stars with 300+ reviews on the G maps. We love stopping in Troy. We already love Defazio's and Lucky Corner. We were ready for a good breakfast spot here. They are open 8am Wednesday to Sunday and close about 1.0am or 2.30am. These are great hours because many restaurants close early in Troy. We once drove thru on Friday night and couldnt find a place to get food during the pandemic, but i digress. The menu is simple but they deliver on what they promise. This is a nice place for the classic diner fare of hotcakes, eggs, homefries and toast. I ordered a side of sausage and got a nice skinless sausage patty. I enjoyed my eggs benedict with canadian ham with a small side salad of arugula. Everything seems to be made from scratch. No powdered eggs or frozen saussge from the restaurant food supplier company. They also had unlimited coffee in these throwback brown ceramic diner mugs. This place is cute and memorable. The service is friendly, efficient and attentive. Naughter's is only about 2 years old and now they expanded next door. Spend your hard-earned dollars here and you won't regret it.

Just got the industry eggplant for a takeout order. It was really delicious, I would definitely get it again. It's a breaded fried eggplant with a hash brown on it I think the frozen type, it was some flat rectangular thingy. It also had roasted red pepper on it which added an additional layer of flavor that complemented it, and had marinated cherry peppers which added a nice acidic zing. The pesto mayo was delicious I love pesto I could have it on anything. And the bun was nice and soft very slightly sweet. I will try to replicate this to a certain extent in my own kitchen, really enjoyed the combination of flavors.

Was told that Naughter's had the best pancakes so I went in with high expectations (and a little bit of skepticism). They exceeded my expectations. I called ahead to get a pulse check for what the wait was looking like for a party of 3. I was told that it may be a 15-20 minute wait because they were full. To our pleasant surprise, we walked in and had no wait because a table had opened up. The hosts were warm and welcoming. The atmosphere of the space was also vibrant and homey. I had looked at pictures of the menu offerings on yelp ahead of time and it seemed that certain items may have changed. The menu was small but still had some good options and reasonable prices. My dad and I both got the chopped cheese, I got a hotcake on the side and my sister got chocolate chip hotcakes and a biscuit. I also got an iced latte with oatmilk. Both my father and I enjoyed the chopped cheese. It was filling, flavorful, and didn't feel to heavy. The pancake was amazing. It wasn't too sweet, and it was fluffy, light, and overall just amazing. I actually texted a friend that the pancake changed my life. My latte was just as good. The coffee was strong but combined well with the oatmilk and syrup for an overall smooth taste. The food came out quickly and the servers were all attentative and fun! Such a cute, vibey, yummy spot; I will definitely be back!

Service was great, Food okay [Troy NY] We had breakfast here at Naughter's before starting our day. We came in to an empty restaurant on a Saturday morning around 8:30a but it didn't take long to fill the modest size eatery. The waitress was welcoming and very friendly. After perusing through the menu we ended up doing a la carte for two-eggs, hashbrown and bacon (for me) and sausage for the hubby. The food is cooked right there in an open kitchen. Our breakfast was served by one of the cooks, perhaps the owner himself, I don't know. I was a bit turned off by all the grease on the hashbrown and bacon. There's seating everywhere. We sat by the front window. You can also dine at the counter or at a table. The ambiance has a vintage touch. Walls hung old photos. There is a shelf with old cassette tapes, right next to a boom box on the countertop. The diner is located in Historic Downtown Troy. 3.5 Stars for my experience. Review #3011

Awesome find in downtown Troy! I was between meetings with a colleague and we found Naughter's on Yelp. We walked in, were quickly greeted by super friendly staff and placed our orders. I loved my veggie hash with eggs and toast. Hot and delicious! Eggs were cooked perfectly. My colleague had French toast sticks, sausage and a potato of some sort...he really enjoyed everything. Cool luncheonette vibe. Early hours AND late night hours to serve the bar crawlers. Score.

This place is the real deal! Amazing little retro diner with a lot of personality and seriously good food. My veg hash, eggs and toast -- so good. Sweet potato, beets, onion, carrot peppers were very flavorful, and the eggs were nice and fluffy. And the bread was also so good! My friend got a tuna melt with fries and and she loved it too. I'm obsessed with this place!

Wow!! We walked around looking for a place that would serve us breakfast at 2 pm. Man oh man, we SO LUCKED OUT!! Go here go here go here. Wait staff are SO NICE, but really, you want to hear about the food. I had delicious fluffy pancakes (they only serve real maple syrup ), and their house made sausage patty. Yum yum. It COULD NOT BE MORE PERFECT). My spouse, a much healthier eater than I am, had the vegetable hash with 2 poached eggs on top. Honestly, a work of art. So, we completely lucked out. Also, a shout out to what Troy has become. Honestly, I haven't been here for 20 years. It is so interesting, alive, a new go to place for us. Who knew? Keep it going, Troy!

What a welcoming little diner! The staff were so friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. They were gracious about changing details - want bacon on that? No problem! Want those poached eggs a little more medium? No problem! The food was delicious. I've largely stopped eating out because the food seems so mediocre these days, i'd rather have a bowl of cereal at home. But Naughter's did not disappoint - if i'm ever in Troy again, they have a repeat customer.

Sought out this gem based on reviews and it did not disappoint. They take regular items and make them exceptional with seasoning and cooking skill. Add the fact that the fries are homemade cut potatoes, the sauerkraut is home made, etc. Everything here is made with love and knowledge of preparation. The humble setting adds to its charm. Cute vibrant little diner with 50s vibe, great place for small party lunch/brunch. Not very accessible so if you have a bad knee, want to come with a larger party, or want to come with kids (babies are ok), this might not be a place for you. I would still come for a casual date though. read more

Came with a group around brunch time. Place was busy but we were lucky enough to get seats at the counter for four. I got eggs scrambled with Swiss, hash browns and rye bread with a sausage on the side. Eggs were good, hash was greasy and hearty and the toast was toast (sausage was over cooked) My gf got the veggie hash which she found slightly underwhelming, but the sunny side up eggs were cooked perfectly. One of the people we were with got the eggplant sandwich, stacked high with crispy fried eggplant and packing a pesto mayo punch, it will surely be my choice if I'm back. Above average diner with some cool original plates. Worth a shot if your in the area. read more

I loved this place! A cool interior with incredibly friendly vibes, perfectly crispy French fries, and all of the hot coffee you can drink. What more could you want? The Philly pork sandwich is absolutely enormous and packed with big chunks of tender pork, and the industry eggplant is a perfect combo of textures and flavors, the greasiness of the fried eggplant and hash browns cut by the spicy pickled peppers. As much as I liked the sandwiches, I suspect that this place really shines at breakfast, and I'm excited to come back on a lazy (and possibly hung over) Sunday morning to see if the eggs live up to the hash browns and coffee. read more

Naughter's, welcome to Troy! You fit right in. This spot is 50's themed, equipped with sparkly chairs and barstools. Jazzy music plays from a boombox with casette tapes. It's small, so don't come with a large group of people! We came with a group of 4 on a Saturday around midnight. It was pretty dead when we got there, but probably just because the spot is new. Once we were finished with our food, it was packed. I only had the fries, but my friends had a burger and egg and cheese. They said it was delicious. There are NO GLUTEN FREE BUNS here yet, so stick to the hash and whatever else you can manage (unsure if the fries are completely gf - they are fried in the same oil as everything else). Hopefully they get some gf bread because I am very curious about the egg and cheese. It looks amazing! The bathroom is in a weird lil nook upstairs. Don't hit your head! There is a sink, but it's to the left once you get out of the bathroom in another little nook. I'll definitely be back here. We've been needing a late night grub spot in downtown Troy and I'm happy we have one! read more

Was looking for a brunch spot late Saturday afternoon and this was it! We wanted outdoor seating so our dog could join us. Got the veggie hash and it was DELICIOUS with beets and arugula. Our coffee cup was never low which is important to me on a sleepy weekend. Jasmine was a great waitress! Overall awesome find. Will be back!!!! read more

Does anyone remember JJ Naughter's Texaco service station at the corner of Shaker and Wolf Roads in Colonie, New York? It was one of the first businesses in Colonie when Wolf Road was just Naughter's, a beverage center, 3 farms and a golf course. It was known for superior customer service and the highest quality of automobile repairs and service for 68 years. When it closed a few years ago (now it's a chain fast food eatery). But I digress. Walking down 5th Ave on my way to my bank, I came upon this diner with the name, Naughter's, stenciled on the sandwich board out front of 1809 5th Avenue, it also said, Open daily for Breakfast, Lunch and Late Nights. I stepped inside, found a seat and immediately was handed a menu and a hearty greeting along with a choice of beverages. I chose coffee with cream. The menu is a plethora of egg dishes - styles, sandwiches, pancakes, french toast, veggie hash and the daily specials are posted on the chalkboard on the wall. I had bacon and scrambled eggs. The bacon was well cooked but not crumbly and the eggs were buttery in flavor. The kitchen is just five feet from the breakfast counter and is the cleanest I've ever seen. I offer 5 - stars for every category (quality, customer service, price and portion size) J.J. Naughter is very proud of his grandson for continuing the legacy of quality and customer service. read more

Wonderful breakfast place. Staff is great. Food is excellent! My wife and I were in town for a concert and wanted a place for breakfast the day after. Wow, so good! The eggs Bennie were on point! Best hollandaise I've ever had! Our waiter was so kind. He was attentive but not too much. I asked him for some hot sauce and he brought me 5 to choose from. Very cool local spot for breakfast! Fun funky place with EXCELLENT food. Two amazing chefs who cook the food right in front of you. Mostly breakfast choices, and other specials. A young man at the counter had a burger that looked amazing. The night we went they had Stew Meat Pie (all homemade) basically a flaky pastry calzone shaped pie filled with yummy beef stew. HOW can you go wrong?? Homemade pierogi with home made sauerkraut were super delicious. Hot coffee and French fries rounded out the night. Don't judge the book by the cover, come on in this this FANTASTIC place. Food, great music and a fun night await you. read more

Thought it would be a nice place to have breakfast,upon entering the one waitress was nice but after being seated not so good. The second waitress just stared from behind the counter ,I had to ask for straws for the drinks, and she comes and dropped them on the table. Mind u, they have no wrapping on them. Forgot to mention the drinks came in like kid cups ,not like the other drinks the other customers were getting. Then, the waitress never came back to ask if we were ready to order,another young gentleman came to the table. I felt a bit racism going on. I just paid for my drinks and left. I will not be returning, I guess some things haven't changed. read more

Been meaning to try this place. I was in the mood for eggs Benedict and my go-to spot was just too packed for comfort so it was a good day give this a shot. Today was a little cloudy/breezy, so there was no competition for an outdoor table. First the weak spot - coffee could be better, the food deserves it. This is a funky little spot; and friendly and not pretentiously hip. I do not know how someone with mobility issues would navigate the bathroom, so be aware of that. Anyway - Brisket Benedict with home fries and scratch hollandaise. Brilliant! 5 stars for this alone. Will be back for the Duck Frites. read more

The overall experience was not very good, because there were bugs all over the place, and the door was not properly shut, thus allowing the bugs in. The food was ok, with the burger and fries being pretty good; the servers were very nice too. It was less than perfunctory overall though. We prefer Skyline diner over this one by far. read more

Cute spot. Kids loved the pancakes and were even more excited that they could order a root beer float. Eggs Benedict special with a side order of veggie hash was flavorful and creative. Extra points for a place that I can get plenty of vegetables. Kind, attentive service. Location is good for a post-meal walk of all the other great local businesses in Troy. read more

The menu is small but very efficient. This simple diner could accommodate most tastes with its single copy-paper page menu. I enjoyed an eggplant sandwich, while my peers enjoyed breakfast foods with eggs or meat as desired. Delicious fries. Plus they offer simple syrup to sweeten iced teas or coffees. Finish that with kind service and historic artwork and this restaurant was a win. read more

They brought my food out to me on a little tray with a paper branded with the same cute dog. I loved the wrap! I'm glad I went the wrap route - it was perfect. Mozzarella, arugula, fried eggplant, olives - yummm. It was so delicious and flavorful and a big portion! I took leftovers back to my hotel and had them the next day. I'm so glad I stopped in to this spot and would definitely come back for more of their tasty food.

It's a casual place, lots of 2 and 4 top tables, but what caught my eye when we went in was the cooler full of amazing side options. Then you look up and there's a beautiful oven and a dough station. This is looking great. We sat and ordered lamb kebab and doner kebab. A couple minutes later, a large (~11x17?) wooden tray appeared with a piping hot lavash bread and a plate of dill yogurt sauce. If the meal had stopped there, I would have been a happy camper. We had just had a few pieces when the kebab arrived, each with a pepper, tomato, some red cabbage, and onion. Both meats were authentic and delicious. My favorite way to eat my doner was with a bit of the bread, a bit of the dill sauce, some onion and cabbage, and a bunch of meat - a mini gyro, if you will. We took away about 1/3 of the generous portions and ordered a large mixed plate (all 10 of the sides) and baklava to take to our friend. It's a bit of a drive for us, but any time we're anywhere close, we're going to be back for sit down (if it's mealtime) or takeaway if it's not. I highly recommend you do the same.

I haven't tried the pizza yet, but since their pide is very good, I imagine the pizza would also be solid. For me though, the real highlight at Alibaba is the mezze. In Turkish cuisine, grilled meats and kebabs are almost always enjoyed with a variety of mezze. They might technically be sides, but they're a big part of the whole experience. These days there are several Turkish kebab places in the area, but none of them offer a wide selection of fresh, house-made mezze like Alibaba does. At many places you're lucky if you find one or two options, often just a basic ezme. At Alibaba you'll find around ten different mezze and each one tastes distinct and freshly made. Every time I tell myself I'll just take a little... and somehow I end up filling a big mezze plate. Honestly, even when we grill at home, our motivation is picking up mezze from Alibaba to go with it. I'm not sure if it gets the credit it deserves, but don't skip the mezze here -- you'd be missing out. In fact, start with the mezze and figure out the rest later :))

The place was small, packed, and loud with people and background music. That's my only minor complaint; it was quite loud from all the people and everything was tight together, and I think the music was good, but would be even better with some more abstract, atmospheric score. This isn't the place to watch the game; there's no TV's. But it is the place to order a fancy cocktail or a Banana Bread Old Fashioned. And there is a bar. THE SERVICE I happened to know our waitress from high school on accident and she was wonderful. We were checked up on frequently, our food arrived fast, and the conversation was enjoyable. THE FOOD I ordered the Mickey's Riggies, a Rigatoni dish in marinara sauce mixed with peppers, chicken, mushroom, and Parmesan cheese. Flawless. THE BATHROOM My design professor once said if you want to understand the personality of a restaurant, check out its bathroom. Well, that didn't really apply to this place. I've visited a few times and always order the industry eggplant sandwich. It's one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Perfect combo of flavors and textures. I'd recommend it to anyone. The fries are excellent too. Other pluses: The staff all seem to enjoy their jobs. They're efficient, have the right amount of banter, and take pride in their work and the service. The cassette player has really good sound quality and a good selection of tapes. I love sitting at the counter watching my food get made. read more
