From start to finish, I was really unimpressed with The Daisy. Starting in the small crowded entry way, we waited nearly 10 minutes for staff to approach us. We had a reservation at 6pm and felt invisible when we walked in, just to be seated in a table 5 feet away. Maybe they were understaffed, but friendly staff could have gone a long way here. We started with cocktails and they were all good. We didn't really have opportunities to order more, so I only tried one. We started with the Fried Burrata and Caesar salad. The fried buratta was delicious but not enough bread, or a spoon served with it so most of the sauce went to waste. We loved the pesto on the dish. The Caesar salad was extremely underdressed and under seasoned. None of us enjoyed it. We then ordered entrees, I got the flat iron and they ordered the carbonara and the burger. The flat iron was ordered rare, and served blue. The steak and sauce on it was cold. I didn't complain because I didn't want to try and call her over, they did not check on us after the food was delivered. The sauce on it was okay but I think it took away from the flavor of the meat, very strong cumin and chili flavor, a little gritty. The fries were good and the broccolini was mushy and overcooked. The carbonara was also a miss, it was overly peppered and unpleasant to eat. This dish was ultimately sent back and we explained it was overly peppered and inedible, and she ordered something else. My friend who ordered the burger really enjoyed it and it looked great. The server was not accommodating at all and barely checked on us. We sent food back and the server just threw it away without a thought in the world, and it remained on the bill. At this point we just wanted to pay and leave. Bad service can ruin a night, and it put a damper on our girls night out. My photos came out impeccable, unfortunately most of it looked better than it tasted. I could look over bad service if the food was great, but when neither is, it's a hard pass from me. read more

The Daisy had been on my list of places to try for a while and my friends and I finally carved out the time to go! We decided to go for BOGO margaritas which they offer on Tuesdays! We all had passion fruit and it was absolutely delicious. We ate small bites such as the truffle fries and fried burrata, both were absolutely delicious and I'd definitely get it again! Checked out The Daisy after their recent "re-brand". Overall, the food was very good and it has a cozy, trendy and intimate vibe. The burrata was a generous serving and the sauce for dipping was delicious. The bucatini was very good and had a good kick from the cherry peppers, but wasn't anything life changing. Overall, we still miss the tacos and it seems they changed the coconut margarita recipe...it just wasn't the same and didn't have the toasted coconut rim. read more

The service here was terrible. A friend and I stopped by for dinner before the nearby candlelight event. We were told the restaurant was full unless we sat outside, which we agreed to. There was another group outside who received great attention, but after our drinks were taken, our waitress never returned. About 20 minutes later, we realized we hadn't even ordered yet. A different staff member eventually came to take our order. My meal came out, but my friend's didn't. After waiting another 10 minutes, we asked about it--still nothing. We finally canceled the missing order and asked for the check. The waitress, who had been missing most of the evening, suddenly hovered to make sure we paid. I did--exactly what was owed, no tip--because in New York, servers make minimum wage, and this service was unacceptable. The food and drinks were just okay, definitely not worth the price. read more

The Daisy is a cute chic taco and margarita place. The tacos are fusion, they have a bulgogi one with kimchi and a fried chicken and a coconut shrimp one plus others. Not authentic Mexican tacos but stills delicious. Classy place. The margaritas are strong! I saw a sign for buy one get one margaritas on Wednesdays. They have a decent amount of tables even though it's a small place, there is a back room with more tables. The servers were attentive and friendly. The coconut margarita was creamy and I liked the coconut shreds on the rim. Margaritas and tacos are all around $13. Tacos come with 2. Bill can definitely add up but it's worth it. Great environment to catch up with friends. The chip appetizer with pico de gallo was delicious. The chips had a great crisp, they tasted deep fried. Perfectly salted. I liked my coconut shrimp tacos the best. 2 big meaty shrimp in each taco, crunchy and cooked well and the pineapple in it gave it a nice sweetness. The fried chicken tacos were a mix of dark and light meat chunks, which were very tender and soft. Though a bit too soft for my likening of chicken texture. Another instance of needing a half star for a review 1.5. Service was 1 and food a 2. My friend and I were not imbibing so I asked if there was maybe iced tea or soda? The server pointed us to $13 mocktails. She did not understand the assignment. She left the water carafe untouched and water glasses turned upside down. We had to serve ourselves water from the initial pour to every refill. The carafe became totally empty and she never offered a refill. The food was substantially lacking. The flat bread was pretty raw dough but the toppings great. You cant mess up cured ham and arugula right. The tare tare had a decent spicy mayo sauce underneath the torta. But the meat was not fresh made and appeared scooped out of an ice cream scoop and congealed. I did try the spring onion dip which felt very deconstructed and did not have a dip consistency. Most appalling was the server leaving our dirty plates through dessert to the bill being presented. To the point I had to push my dirty dinner plate forward in order to eat our dessert. No fresh flatware or napkins offered. Such a shame I took my friend here to celebrate his birthday. One of the worst breakfasts I've had in a while. 43 dollars for 2 coffees and 2 toasts. One of the coffees was made with oat milk instead of almond and then was told it wasn't after watching the girl at the counter make it. Asked for tomatoes on the side of the Mediterranean toast and a regular avocado toast. The Mediterranean toast came with no tomatoes and the avocado toast came with them. When I asked for it to be remade with no tomatoes she said I didn't ask for no tomatoes on the avo toast and I told her that they are not listed on the menu. Refire took over 15 minutes. For toast. Though my experience here probably has just as many superlatives, maybe even a few more, because I like the space here better, and it's so much easier to get parking in Cohoes than Troy. A great addition to Remsen Street, The Daisy offers simple menu of "fast food" and Mexican "street food." We stopped to grab a bite before a show at the Music Hall. It was quite full and busy because it was mid-week and few other restaurants were open. We had been curious and felt it was kismet. They were so nice to us and found a place to squeeze us in at the bar. We ordered that day's special margarita - blood orange- it was delicious. For food we ordered the coconut shrimp and pork tacos. Great spot for margs and tacos! Went here on a Saturday night and found a spot at the bar. I started with an order of nachos, which were so good. You could tell the chips were homemade and they were topped with the most delicious queso and guacamole. I also tried the shrimp and pork tacos, which were both excellent. The Daisy recently opened for breakfast/ lunch, with a small menu of pastries and mostly breakfast sandwiches. The place is cozy and warm with a nice back room with a couple of comfy couches. My wife and I decided to share a BLT. The sandwich was huge and REALLY good. Good quality bacon with a nice garlic aoli and excellent, buttery sourdough bread, grilled perfectly. Was only a BLT, but we were both so happy with it. The woman who waited on us was super nice, and even brought my wife a complimentary drink after she mentioned to her that she would have ordered it earlier had she noticed it on the menu. I really hope they do enough business to stay open during the day time hours. We will be stopping by reguarly. read more

What a delightful experience! Servers were friendly and unpretentious. Cocktails were fun and potent! Food was very fresh and just a little unique but not so unique that you weren't sure what to make of it. My partner loved his burger. I had the papatelle with brocollini and little bits of sausage maybe(?) which I'm guessing is a dish that gets swapped out as ingredients shift. It was excellent. The Daisy was my FAVORITE restaurant in the Capital Region and now I will never step foot in it again. Previously, walking in, the area is small and comfortable. Truly homey! The waitresses knew my order! Soft music with tea lights making laughing with friends and getting drunk the most special day ever. Now I walk in and there's a French menu? All of the original waitresses are not there and the new furniture... can't even go into detail how different the atmosphere. The problem at the end of the day is the food. BRING BACK the MEXICAN food!!! We do NOT need this French restaurant!! No one wants French fries, chicken sandwiches and steak! We want chorizo nachos, homemade guacamole and beautifully tasting shrimp tacos. Not whatever junk is being served. No pictures included because I used to have so much fun I didn't need them! I've been hoping to try the Daisy for quite awhile, and finally meandered over the river to check it out this weekend. They've done a really nice job creating a warm, tidy feel in a small space. The colors are bright, with splashes of orange and turquoise and exposed filament lights that give a cheerful ambiance. Since it's dry January (23 more days, but who's counting), we skipped the margs for now. We ordered some guacamole to start, which was EXCELLENT. I wish they served more chips to enjoy it with- for possibly the first time ever, I was out of chips before guacamole. If this is a judgment free zone... we used our fibers to clean the dish bc the guac was AWESOME :) For food, we ordered three sets of tacos (each order buys you 2) to get a good sampling. My favorite by far was the mojo mahi, which had perfectly grilled fish with lovely citrus in a flavor-packed pairing that was truly perfect. The pork banh mi tacos were okay. I thought the pork was flavored appropriately with sauce and yummy carrots & cucs, but was a little tougher than I expected. The coconut shrimp ones were admittedly not my selection, so I'll defer judgment on these except to say the shrimp were giant, crispy, and topped with a delicious mango-y salsa that I'd love to get the recipe for. In these colder days, a night at the daisy might be just what you need for some brightness and yummy flavors. Will be back when I can try the margs!! read more

The Daisy in Troy is now Frankie Bird and focuses on fried chicken dishes, simple comforts that everyone can get behind. The original restaurant by the owners was Caskade in Cohoes and they've brought back the fan-favorite fried chicken sandwich from that menu, but with a few twists. We had the Szechuan popcorn chicken and Jane Bird sandwich (red onion, pickles, American cheese, mayo) with a side of fries. The sandwich brought back good memories and the fries were a pleasant surprise. The drinks have always been top notch. First impressions can be wrong and The Daisy showed this to me. I heard great things about The Daisy. It was hip offshoot of the nearby Caskade, focused on fusion-element tacos with personality. I also heard two small tacos are $10. I hemmed and hawed on coming here. I wanted to try the hype, but also felt offended at the idea of $5 tacos. The audacity, right? Wrong. I eventually made it; convinced by my hungry partner and an empty fridge. We ordered the nachos and two orders of tacos (2 come per order). The nachos were excellent. On the smaller side, but all the fatty guacamole and the creama acidity was there. It was delightful. We noticed the compostable utensils, thought about the thoughtfulness, and went back to waiting. And then the tacos came out. They were indeed small, but only the tortilla. Everything else was huge. When you see it, you'll realize one taco has the fillings of two tacos. A few bites in, I experienced delicious deep chocolate notes with the Cocoa Ancho Beef Tacos; squeeze a little acidity and these were amazing. The fried oyster mushrooms are a vegetarians dream; the chipotle crema was the perfect sauce. So yes, I was biased. I really went into The Daisy wanting to be justified in my hesitancy and outrage. But I left feeling the opposite; which is an amazing thing for a business to do. These tacos are good, they're loaded, and they're worth all the rave that they've been receiving. These aren't traditional tacos by any means and they're not trying. These are fusion concepts, and damn good ones at that. I've been following this restaurant on instagram for awhile and decided to try it for the first time 2 weeks ago. Went with a friend and got there about 5:20(20 mins after open) on a Saturday night and quickly got a table. We ordered the chips and quac for an app and the prickly pear and passion fruit margaritas. The passion fruit was absolutely amazing. The chips are a little thick for my taste but still wonderful. We ordered the beef bulgogi and cod tacos. The beef bulgogi is amazing, such flavor and a little spice. I went back last night and in addition to the beef bulgogi we ordered the fried chicken which was incredible and the Brussels sprouts. The Brussels taco was a little greasy and messy.
