    Honey Mustard Chicken Crunchwrap
    Kristen K.

First time visiting Tipsy Taco. My friend and I split the sweet corn guacamole. I got the honey mustard chicken crunchwrap which was a special. My friend got the birria nachos but on waffles fries instead of chips. The Crunchwrap was amazing. They should add it to the menu permanently. My friend enjoyed the birria but said it was a little dry. The sweet corn guacamole was a miss for us. The actual guacamole was great, it was just all the add ins that didn't seem to mesh well at least to us. I would definitely go again. It's a nice spot and there was other things on the menu I would like to try. Everything was priced pretty reasonable too.

3.5 stars (rounded up to 4 for the cocktails and apps) A friend recently asked me to find a good spot for spicy margaritas on a sunny Friday afternoon, and I took it as a fun challenge to try somewhere new. I had previously ordered takeout from Tipsy Taco Cantina in Latham and remembered the tacos being delicious, so I was excited to try the dine-in experience. We arrived during what seemed to be happy hour. The bar area was busy, which was expected, but the main dining room had plenty of open seating. The restaurant also has a small front patio with a few tables. While it's a nice option in warm weather, it's located right next to a busy five-lane road (Route 9), so there is a fair amount of street noise. The patio has some evergreen trees placed along two sides to provide some privacy, but one side remains completely open to the traffic. The overall decor matched what I'd expect from a cantina-style restaurant--colorful and casual. The music selection, however, felt inconsistent. It ranged from early 2000s pop and bar anthems to country and reggaeton. While not unpleasant, the variety lacked cohesion and made it hard to set a specific atmosphere. I arrived before my friends and waited about 15 minutes before anyone came to take my order. Although the restaurant wasn't crowded in the dining area, it seemed that staffing may have been limited. I ordered a mezcal old-fashioned, which was served about five minutes later--and it was excellent: smooth, smoky, and perfectly balanced. Once my friends joined, we ordered drinks and a variety of appetizers to share. The service continued to be a bit slow, but our server was friendly. We had the bottomless chips and salsa, crab queso dip, street corn fritters, and yucca fries. All of the appetizers were enjoyable, but the crab queso stood out as a table favorite. Both the fritters and yucca fries were heavily coated in Tajín, which added a strong citrus flavor--delicious for those who enjoy bold seasoning, but potentially overpowering for more sensitive palates. For entrées, I ordered the chicken Caesar salad, and one of my friends tried the crunchwrap. Unfortunately, the salad was a letdown. The chicken looked well-seasoned but tasted quite bland, and the dressing lacked the signature Caesar flavor I expected. In contrast, the crunchwrap received positive feedback. My friend described it as exactly the kind of hearty, satisfying meal you'd want after a night out. We ended up taking home the rest of the wrap and some of the appetizers because the portions were generous. Overall, I'd return to Tipsy Taco for the cocktails, chips, and shared plates--especially if I'm in the mood for a relaxed afternoon with friends. While the service was a bit slow and some of the food uneven, the quality of the drinks and appetizers made up for it. Just don't expect a quiet patio experience or seamless table service during busier hours.

Great little taco joint with unique cocktails and menu items. It's really cute inside and they do have some outdoor seating, although it's right on a main road and not very picturesque. Small parking lot. Everything we ate was delicious!

My family of 4 had a great time here! Is it authentic Mexican? No. But you come here for the ambiance and their unique choices. We got seated right away inside on a Friday afternoon but there is seating outside (it was just a really hot day or we would've chosen the outdoor seating.) The outdoor seating abuts to the bar so you can sit at the bar and enjoy fresh air as well which is nice. I had the skinny margarita which was yummy and surprisingly strong. We all shared the salsa (which came with tomato and tomatillo salsa) and chips and traditional guacamole. Delicious! My kids (age 4 and 7) also loved them. The kids had the quesadillas and actually ate and liked them which is something for 2 kids. Between my husband and I, we tried the beef gringo, Thai fish and short rib tacos. All delicious. Will definitely return.

The food here is amazing. They constantly are bettering their menu and recipes. The bartenders are attentive and helpful in selecting food choices and cocktails. The restaurant tends to have really loud dance music. Sometimes it feels a little too loud to have conversation. The decor is fun. Bathrooms are clean. The bacon blue Guac is to die for. It's absolutely delicious.

I enjoyed my visit to Tipsy Taco, but I have to admit I was somewhat "medium-whelmed." The food and drink were pretty good, and the service was very good. But there were just enough things which took away from the experience being closer to the "wow" I've gotten when going to Tipsy Moose. It began before even setting foot in the restaurant, as parking can be a challenge. The lots on either side have many signs indicating reserved for specific businesses. I even saw someone from the Halal Grocery recording the license plate number or a car in one of their spots in which the passengers went elsewhere. I made sure to ask on entry what were good places to park, and I made sure my car was in one. I hate to think how challenging it may be to find a parking space here on a Friday or Saturday. We had margaritas off the drink menu, and I went for their evening special, a spicy pear margarita, for which the server told me they make their own nectar. You could definitely taste the pear, but the spicy part was less than expected. We started with the bacon bleu guacamole, which is also garnished with sliced chives and served with a large portion of warmed chips. Fair warning, the bacon was HARD... really hard... be careful if you have dental work hard. Besides individual tacos, you can get 3 for $18. Again, these were good, but now "wow." I was expecting a nice kick for the Nashville Chicken taco, but it was really only about as spicy as the short rib taco I also ordered. I'd be glad to see slightly more spice in some of the food and drink options here, or perhaps some hot sauces on the table. We were also glad we saw the fine print at the lower right of the menu indicating the 3.5% up-charge for a credit card payment. I'd certainly come back here, but there are other taco and margarita places in the area I enjoy just as much if not more.

I've been wanting to come here for a while now as I've been to the same restaurant family Tipsy Moose in Latham. This place is much more open lots of windows long bar on one side and dining room tables on the other. Love the neon lights on the walls in the hall to the bathroom. I now know that the food is just as good. DD and I stopped in for a short lunch on a busy Christmas shopping day. We were seated at a small table near the windows with only one other table occupied with a group of office workers out for lunch. Our Order to share - A limited release menu.. sounds like there will be more to come! 1. Nachos ingredients... Queso Oaxaca - Monterey Jack - Roasted Corn - Pinto & Black Beans - Pickled Red Onion - Fresno Chiles - Queso Fresco - Pico de Gallo - House Guacamole - Cilantro Lime Crema $12 Add On - Roasted Chicken $3 Loved this especially the red pickled onions 2. Deep Fried Corn Fritters... 3. Lemonade... Its lunch time! All in all I like this place just as much as Tipsy Moose on Old Loudon Rd not as dark and cozy but sure has tasty appetizers a great place to sit and enjoy good food, good drink and good company!

I would consider this fusion cuisine between American pub food and Mexican. It's a hopping atmosphere right now on a Friday evening. We waited 25 minutes at 5:00 and the wait time for others who came in after was even higher. The music was loud, decor fun and looks like it has a great bar area. It took a while to get our drinks. Mine a frozen classic margarita, my friend's a blackberry margarita. The drinks were tasty, brain freeze aside. The waitress talked us into an appetizer. We got loaded nachos with chicken. The toppings were plentiful. My only complaints were the stringy cheese was hard to spread evenly over the nachos and the chicken was dry. I ordered a three taco plate. It came with a small side of rice and beans. My choices were carne asada, mushroom and brisket. The Carne Asada was dry but flavorful enough with salsa verde, the Brisket was again dry but had good flavor with pickled red onions. My favorite was the Maitake Mushroom which came with a halloumi like melted cheese. My friend had the Nashville hot chicken and Chicken Asada. She seemed to enjoy both. It was a bit of a wait for the food but it was Friday and we were in no hurry and wanted to stay and talk. The bill came to around $85. Quite pricey for 2 people. I did enjoy it though.

I think we might've caught this place not long since they opened, but the ambiance and the food was fantastic. I had the braised short rib dish, and it was quite delicious - tender, juicy and well seasoned. The tacos my co-workers ordered were apparently very good as well. Definitely on the pricier side when it comes to tacos, at about $5 - 7 a piece. The only point I'm docking is for how slow it was to get seated. We must've waited at the front for 5 minutes with no one to greet us or even to tell us to give them a minute.

First off, I really love this place. They do trivia every Monday at 7 and have happy hour Monday through Friday where you can get Margs for half price. The food is absolutely to die for and super filling. I recommend the nachos and shrimp tacos. Super juicy and flavorful

Tipsy Taco Cantina is a welcome addition to Loudon Road! I went here on a Saturday night and was sat within 15 minutes. It's on the smaller side, so if you go on a Friday or Saturday night, expect a wait. They have a great selection of Margaritas - it was tough to choose which one I wanted. I decided on the Blackberry Margarita, and my boyfriend opted for a local craft beer. The Margarita was really good and came with salt on the rim. We decided to start with the Sweet & Heat Guacamole - guacamole with grilled mango and pineapple, and pickled red onions. It was really good! I'm a huge fan of guacamole with pineapple in it, and this definitely hit the spot! For our entrees, we split the Braised Short Rib Empanada and the three taco platter, which we chose Lamb Barbacoa, Nashville Hot Chicken and the special Fried Steak taco. The empanada was delicious and much bigger than I expected. It had a nice heat too it but not too spicy and was cooked perfectly. The taco platter is $18 for three with rice and beans, so depending upon the price of the tacos you want, it likely is the best option cost wise. Our favorite taco was the fried steak, which was a nightly special, followed by the Barbacoa and Nashville Hot Chicken. They definitely have a great list of taco options, so there's something for everyone. As for the rice and beans, they were nothing special. I'm hoping to return soon to try more menu items and margaritas!

And seeing how extensively the former Denny's Restaurant was remodeled you definitely get that large corporate feeling. This is not your Mom & Pop's home-town restaurant effort. But that corporate feeling begins to fade somewhat while you are dining. The staff are friendly, helpful, and appear to be enjoying themselves as evidenced by some of them singing along to the authentic Mexican background music. The menu is huge! Would you believe 20 pages of drinks and food? Fortunately, there are photos for almost every dish, so you have no problem wondering what it is that you are ordering. Besides, most of the offerings are Tex-Mex dishes which Americans are quite familiar with by now, e.g., tacos, burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, quesadillas, and chimichangas. One thing that I found puzzling was that tamales were only available in each of the three Combo dishes. You apparently cannot order tamales singularly. Upon being seated, we were promptly served complimentary chips along with a red salsa and a refried bean dip with cheese, pepper, and tomato. The salsa had no spicing at all. We each ordered a large (24 oz.) draft Modelo Especial ($10 each). My initial test of a Mexican restaurant is to try a dish with their Mole and compare it with memories of the home cooked meal I was served by a close Mexican friend more than 30 years ago. However, I had wanted to also try something more than the Pollo Mole at Don Juan's. I zeroed in on Tampiqueña ($27); a marinated grilled steak and a mole enchilada coated in their house made Tia Maria Mole sauce. The dish was also served with refried beans, rice, lettuce, tomato, green onions, and guacamole in place of sliced avocado. The steak was pounded very thin so that the likely tougher cut that was used was not overly chewy. The flavors however, with the grilling and marinade were quite tasty. The enchilada was filled with tender chicken, and the mole coating on the flour tortilla was more sweet than savory as opposed to what I would have expected from a more traditional chicken and mole combination. I guess it was the Tia Maria. Once again, I did not notice any spiciness . I was also provided with a container of four fresh, warm, flour tortillas. While I'm not a fan of flour tortillas these were the best flour tortillas I've ever encountered. My wife ordered the Tacos Al Pastor ($21), choosing steak over pork or chicken, topped with pico de gallo and fresh cabbage in corn tortillas. The three tacos were also served with rice, lettuce, and tomato. The red salsa served on the side had no spiciness. However, a second container of salsa more brownish in color had plenty of spiciness. She was very pleased with her meal. One additional item on the dessert list called out to me from the moment I saw it on the menu. Sopapillas ($9), as served here, they are triangular shaped pastry dusted with cinnamon sugar, whipped cream, and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. They were tasty and enjoyable but nothing like what I first encountered in a Mexican restaurant more than 55 years ago in Albuquerque, New Mexico. There they were a basket of fried dough morsels served to us before our meal, with honey to be poured on them. YUM! Overall, we were pleased with our Tex-Mex experience and are very likely to return to try some additional menu items. If you want spicy, be sure to request the appropriate salsa.

Just the food on a plate. The quesadilla was a strange presentation as well. Folded over in half but not cut, zero crisp or crunch, and sauce on top. Never seen anyone have to eat a quesadilla with a fork and knife before. The food did taste good overall but the presentation was a fail. We ordered a few drinks as well. All drinks were served in plastic cups. The beer was reasonably priced and cold. The house margarita was delicious ($12) and the Mexican Muel was also tasty ($10). As for some of the other Margarita options they cost as much as some of the lunch and dinner items, a bit extreme. We couldn't believe they didn't have any margarita specials on Cinco de Mayo, another fail. The restrooms are a bit of a mess. The mens room toilet has a leak at the base and the caulk job is horrendous. One of the hand washing sinks is out of service with a grocery bag over the spout and valve. Overall we had an ok experience, nothing spectacular. If it weren't Cico de Mayo we would have just stopped by Teds Fish Fry. If you're looking to support a small business and enjoy amazing Mexican food, this place is definitely worth checking out. I'll absolutely be back. i could not take pictures due to me diving in the food as soon as it was ready . i recommend eating theere while food is hot

Incredibly kind and thoughtful of her, because we didn't even ask, she was kind enough to do this on her own. I always love the tacos, but they recently changed from blue corn tortillas, which were my favorite, to a different type, and they don't hold together as well (the entire taco falls apart). I shared this with our server (actually picked one up while she was standing at our table and she watched it fall apart in my hand)--and she responded with kindness, saying she would inform the kitchen, and I believed her. This place has great food and great drinks and we really love it. Plus it's part of the Prime family so you can get points for eating here and at their other restaurants. Five stars for treating me so well when I was injured!

Tried a few of the specialties for the holiday but the stars for us were the margaritas. Just a perfectly mixed cocktail that we could not rave more about. More of an upscale Mexican restaurant with some spins on traditional favorites. We will definitely be coming back for a regular date night or even their extensive brunch selections!

Food was great, service was great, everything was great. Not too long of a wait for the food, presentation was nice, I did not manage to capture our hefty cast iron of poutine in time before we finished off the order. Looking forward to my next stop in, hopefully soon!

Sit at…read morethe bar with all the barrels or the dining area with sports playing on TV, or out on their patio. There is limited parking on the premises but always parking on the street if you don't mind some walking. The slightly rustic, lodge type of interior matches the friendly vibes as well as the interesting drink selections, including a side menu filled with signature coffee whiskey cocktails! Their tipsy cocktails and beer menu is also quite attractive. My group and I were able to walk in on a weekend evening for dinner with no wait and while it was packed inside, it still felt roomy enough. However, the surrounding tables were rowdy and the noise was reverberating. Our server was attentive though she did admit it was busy and the wait time for orders would take a bit longer than usual. The menu has plenty of starters that are highly shareable, poutine, salads, soups, mac and cheese, burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, wraps, and quesadillas. Haven't had real poutine in ages so I decided to try their gravy fries with smoked cheese curds and added bacon. It was a good portion for the price ($15+) and came out hot on a cast iron skillet. The cheese curds weren't the type I expected and melted down too much, and did not have that squeaky cheese bite one would want in poutine. The gravy and the bacon worked well with the fries though! The smoked brisket French onion soup ($8+) was extremely hot when it first came out and I had to let it cool down before taking a spoonful. The cheese was so bubbly and delicious and the soup itself was flavorful (maybe a tad too salty), and had a balanced amount of onions and brisket. I would definitely get the soup again. Their barbecue pulled pork quesadilla ($15+) was also a bit too salty and meat was more tough than preferred. We also tried two of their mac and cheese selections, which came in a small cast iron pot each ($17+). The bacon chicken ranch mac and cheese was good but the jerk chicken mac and cheese was not as memorable (not much jerk flavor). Kudos for having a build-your-own mac and cheese option as well as a mac and cheese flight if you want to try more than one flavor. I'm glad to return to try other menu items at this tap and tavern and see what else catches my eye. While this visit wasn't spectacular, it also wasn't bad. The French onion soup is one thing I know I'd get over and over again. Oh, they also have a credit card transaction fee that you will see once you get the bill. Pay in cash if you mind said fee.
