If I could give less than 1 star I would. I was traveling with a group of 21 university students and 4 staff staff and we stayed at the connected hotel for 2 nights. The hotel was fine. The front desk recommended this restaurant. So, on our second night - we decided to eat there. I called in advance to ask if they could accommodate a party of 25. I was told 'yes'. That was the first issue. There was one cook and one bartender / server working. They could not accommodate us. We were at multiple tables and after about an 90 minutes some food drifted out. Some tables didn't get anything for 2 hours - not even water. Some tables had to re-order because order were confused or misplaced. Some students didn't get what they ordered. I would have walked but some people did have food so we were essentially stuck there. No apology. No discount. Oh - and the food after the 2+ hours of waiting was gross. More than 50% of what we ordered / paid for was left on the table. For example, 'nachos grande' were made with cold doritos and what tasted like cheeze wiz (and it took 2 hours to get them). I ordered an iced tea and requested it (reminded the server) 4x in 2 hours before I got it. My gross food was on the table before I even had water. I complained to the restaurant and to the hotel front desk who made the recommendation. read more

My thirsty needed whiskey and was driving by this place. I decided to stop in and to my surprise the whiskey was refreshing and the food was delicious. The prices are still precovid, the portion size was spot on. Kala the bartender made a killer drink, glasses were frosty and good conversation. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express attached to On Tap. We ate dinner here as it was late and wanted to stay close. Atmosphere is ok. It's definitely more of a bar than restaurant. Big bar, and plenty of tables and some booths. Food, wasn't a fan. The special menu boasted great appetizers and specials but food wasn't even close. I got the Bullpen BBQ Chicken Sandwich. Didn't know it would be chicken fingers with BBQ sauce (though it would be grilled chicken - but I didn't ask so....). The sandwich was mostly Ciabatta bread and a couple of fingers. My daughter had the sliders and said they were eh... Daughter #2 ordered a cheesesteak that was mostly peppers and onions. If you stay at the Holiday Inn I'd try to find a better place for dinner. read more

Got a couple of drinks here when we were staying at the Holiday Inn. It's your very basic, local, small pub. They had a small food menu which we skipped so I can't comment on the food. No drinks menu, no beer list. They have alcohol. They will give it to you if you ask specifically for something. It was quiet on a Friday night so I am not sure if the place gets busy or not. I was happy it was here because we were able to order a few drinks, sit around, AND we didn't have to leave the hotel. But - I wouldn't have gone here if I wasn't staying at the hotel. read more

We were staying at Holiday Inn for business. The waiter was nice and offically put me on to my beer of choice from now on (I dont drink beer ) . The wings were delicious we got Sweet chilli and Teriyaki. But unfortunately mixed with boneless which we didnt ask for. The Quesadilla was great and full, but... I found a piece of plastic in it. I was so disappointed . The waiter was great and everything she gave me sample plights so i can find " my beer". . We didnt go back to the location to speak about it . It wasnt worth it. As promised, we returned. It's been 7 months. I should have read my previous review before going again so I'd know what to look for to compare. So now that I look back at what I previously said, the only update I can probably add is that I didn't notice it to be as brightly lit inside as in the past. Initially, I thought service was going to get a very poor rating this trip. Arriving on a Sunday just as the early NFL games were ending, the bar was almost full and about half the tables and booth were occupied. But three or four parties were on their way out as we entered and we spied a clean booth to sit in. It appeared that waitstaff were ignoring us as they repeatedly passed our table to clear dirty tables. No recognition was given, not even an "I'll be right with you" statement. Determined to see how long this would go on I refused to flag, or trip, any of them as they passed. Eventually (10 minutes?), Kara came to our table, introduced herself and ended up redeeming our potentially negative review of the service. She was upbeat, friendly and showed an interest in seeing that we were made aware of the specials that were available. While we had no interest in the 2-for-1 bottled beers that were available, we did decide to try the $0.30 wings. Skipping over mild and medium we chose hot. Others might have preferred an even hotter choice, but these seemed spicy enough so that you still could taste flavors. The wings were not very crispy but they were nice and juicy. The accompanying blue cheese dressing did not have any blue cheese flavor even though it had small lumps of what was likely blue cheese. The draft beers seem to vary in price. My wife's Brown's Oktoberfest (appearing on the bill as Guinness) was $5. My Davidson's IPA was $4. I decided to try "The Whole Darn Farm" burger ($10.99) - a half-pound of ground sirloin, topped w/ apple wood smoked bacon, smoked ham, Gouda cheese, fried egg, and sauteed onions w/ choice of fries or home made chips. The beef was cooked perfectly to my requested medium-rare and had a nice grilled flavor. If I were to order this again I might ask to hold the onions since being sauteed they made the bottom half of the roll very greasy. I really should try to remember to try something other than a burger the next time. My wife was tossed between a Reuben and the Slider Smorgasbord. Here was an example of Kara wanting to help us make the best decision. Based on this discussion my wife chose the Slider Smorgasbord ($8.99) - Three slider rolls with Andouille sausage, pulled pork, and a cheddar bacon burger, also served with either fries or fresh made chips. The pulled pork was tasty, but the pieces were not really "pulled apart." The Andouille slider was simply a 3 inch piece of sausage cut lengthwise and placed in the small roll. Nothing exciting in the flavor. The cheddar bacon burger was dry. Since the patty is so small it's not like you can specify how you would like it cooked. As I've said before, the fries are OK, the chips are fewer but better. Kara made a point of returning at the end of our meal to inquire how my wife enjoyed the sliders. We told her what I've written here and she was genuinely grateful for us sharing our opinion. She indicated that this would be helpful in describing the dish to future customers... and to the chef, if asked. Once again, we expect to return. There are still some things we'd like to try. Noise level is high inside when there are fans rooting for their favorite team. Unless that is what you are going for, I suggest dining at a different time of day... but then it IS a sports bar!! read more

This one star review could be a venting/ piling-on type review and very easily get out of control, fast! But I will keep it short but be sure to get the point across. I had a gift card to this place and it took me (no exaggeration) 3 years to use it. It took 4 trips to use it, so, I have a pretty good sample to judge this on, with 4 trips in 2 months. (I wish I could underline...) Unless you are a hotel guest at this hotel there is no reason to go to this place! The service is slow and extremely rude. Rude in the sense that they appear that they are doing you a favor or are inconvenienced by you, even when you're not making any special or extraordinary requests. The food is just barely ok, nothing that you cant get anywhere else. I can feel this getting borderline 'pile on' status so I will bow out and wish ownership to pay more attention to the local customers needs and not just being happy they have a hotel to funnel customers to them. read more

My philly steak was on a huge stale roll. I had to pull out the insides to eat it. If was fading apart from staleness. The coleslaw is heavy on mayo. The onion rings didn't really have any flavor. A woman from kitchen staff came in to talk w my waitress who was sitting at the bar on her phone and the other girl was playing a video for her on her phone and the volume was so loud we couldn't hear the music. The music is so low we can hear the other customers conversations. The Waitress asks how everything is as she's waking by. She isn't really interested in our food nor did she notice the plates of stale bread piled up on our table. There are only 4 tables of customers and 4 people at the bar and it's almost 7. The time before when I was here was July and about the same then. Visually it's a nice bar. The staff is just her to get a paycheck and really isn't caring about any customers experience here. So... what to write about this place, what to write... Ah, yes: It's a sports bar, with lighting that's a bit darker ("classy?") than what you're used to seeing at such places. There are a multitude of televisions around the bar/restaurant, but nowhere near the plethora of televisions that places like the Recovery Room have. The food is decent. They have pretty good wings and pretty good fries. The beer is cold, so that's a plus. Service was OK, but not particularly attentive. Worst customer service in the Capital District. During slow periods it is a decent place and I've had no complaints about food. However today was the second consecutive time I've been past 4pm and it's the worst restaurant experience I've had. First time my table waited over 45 mins to be greeted and another 30 to receive check after food. Not the staffs fault. They only ever have 1 waitress (not including bartender) who serves the entire place as the waitress, server, and busperson. Arrived to the Holiday Inn late at night and wanted to grab a quick bite to eat so checked out On Tap which is connected to the hotel. Normally I try to avoid hotel restaurants and this reminded me why. It wasn't particularly busy in there but the service was slow. Menu looked good but the food was mediocre. I had a cheese steak sandwich. The peppers and onion were mushy and the cheese was more like a dipping sauce that should have been a side with soft pretzels or something. Oh my God! Don't go on Saturday, the place is full of drunks! Aside from the afore preface, this quasi sports bar with 13 big-screen TVs does not have bad food. It's really just the local clientele that seems to drag it down. This is after two nights of dining here as we were staying in the hotel. This place is nice but not quite what I expected when I heard the radio commercial for a sports bar with 50 HD TVs. Its actually a pretty classy place. I would say there were about 20 TVs or so but not all of them were on sports. We went around 5 o'clock on a Friday which ended up working out good because they have some solid happy hour specials. $2 domestic bottles and 1/2 price appetizers until 7 or so. Had the nachos, quesadillas, and wings. Portions were pretty big and we had no complaints about the food. We sat at the end of the bar and at one point someone from the kitchen came to collect the dishes that the bartender had accumulated. The guy was upset that the dishes were not cleared and proceeded to curse out the bartender under his breath. I could really care less to be honest but overall it was a pretty classless display by him. I'd return here for the happy hour specials sometime but probably not for any other reason. read more

I feel compelled to write a review because Yelp is actually how my husband convinced me to dine here...stating "how bad can it be, they have 2.5 stars." Famous last words! My party of 4 arrived and dined outside. We each ordered drinks, which arrived promptly. However, they remained empty throughout the course of our meal. The waitress didn't write down our orders and returned to our table multiple times to clarify what we ordered. One person received chips instead of fries, another was missing a side dish, my salad arrived without dressing (and when it did arrive, it was a bizarre Oriental dressing). Perhaps the most humorous was when my father in law went into great depth while ordering that he cannot have hot food and strongly dislikes bone-in wings. He ordered boneless BBQ wings and received mild sauced bone-in. The hits just keep on comin...he then asked for a glass of ice so he could add his bottle of root beer to it; a glass of ice water soon arrived. To top everything off, the waitress ran our credit card for the wrong table! I'm certainly not high maintenance, but I find it a major faux pas to serve a $6 beer in a plastic cup (unless I'm at Fenway Park). I would strongly advise you to go elsewhere! read more

After I won the ticket I ordered another drink and didn't think to mention the ticket until then I'll came. Upon requesting our tab we were told we couldn't turn in our ticket since it was already on our tab. That makes zero sense to me and I just don't see the logic there. She flat out refused to even attempt to give us a drink and she actually come off kind of rude about it. I can't believe that this place can screw up a simple hamburger. I ordered a burger to go since I was staying in the hotel. Everything was good until my order was ready and I took it to my room. I started to settle in and then decided it was time to chow down on my medium well burger. I took my first bite and it was rare. I didn't even chew on the bite. It tumbled out of my mouth in disgust after I choked down the fries. I got dressed again and returned down to the grill while it was closing down for the night at 10ish. They had no issue with me returning the food. They refired the same burger and placed it back in the to go plate. I returned back to my room only to see it was the same burger(eww!). I took my 2nd bite of the same burger and I don't know what they did but it wasn't medium well. It was medium rare. I don't know why a grill in a hotel would be so f'ing bad but this was beyond horrid. I would have done better to travel to Red Robin and had a better experience. As of now I don't even give the bar my business. The fun part is I was here for over a week in the hotel and they lost out on my business and they get this sorry review. We got here a lot as it's super close to home and see so much potential if the manager would just try 20% harder to organize it and get systems and staff in place. They need to make it more of an atmosphere and update the arrangement of the seating and get new furniture. Also, every single time we have been there the waitresses tell us they have to cash us out before we are even done ordering more drinks and then we watch as they all go over count their cash and reconcile their receipts. The one bartender is middle aged and so odd. Every time we go it's a big deal for her to ask what are your names? And then call you by it all night in this invasive odd manner. It's nice to be acknowledged don't get me wrong but then it gets uncomfortable. So they need a waitress station where it's not on top of us eating and trying to relax. I don't need to hear the intricacies of each detail of their entire shift! The beer selection would be ok for almost small bars, but it's called On Tap!!! The sign out front has been a horrible eyesore since the beginning! Rebrand yourself and get some new things and some better marketing and you'd be huge. There's nothing else nearby. Pros - Lots of TVs so every game is visible from any seat. Plenty of beer on tap and friendly service. Cons - The food was less than impressive. I took my oldest two kids - son 34, daughter 28 - to On Tap as part of Colonie Restaurant Week. It was not a completely successful endeavor. My kids found the place w/o memorable difficulty, so maybe it was just me, but I thought the restaurant inadequately marked. It's in the same building as The Holiday Inn Express at the SW corner of the intersection of 9R and Old Loudon Road, at the south end, right before a lounge called The Gazebo (which may be an associated entity, I couldn't tell), but I saw no sign announcing On Tap; I actually had to ask directions at the hotel. Whatever. My kids were there when I arrived, it was a sports bar kind of place, reasonably busy for an early Thursday evening, the opening day of the NCAAs Round of 64. Credit where credit is due, the acoustics weren't bad, given the time and the place, and we had little difficulty communicating during the course of the meal. Our waitress came over promptly after I sat down. I apologize for not remembering her name, but she was young, attractive, and efficient. My dissatisfaction with our experience had little to do with her. Patrons ordering as part of Colonie Restaurant Week had a limited menu. As appetizers my son and I had the Bacon Bisque Soup. It was reasonably good, thick with good flavor, it finished with a sweetness I found a bit off-putting, but my son and daughter registered no objections. My daughter had the bruschetta, which was really quite delicious, thinly sliced cheese and meats on crusty, toasted Italian bread, with a savory mixture including tomatoes, basil and garlic, an altogether memorable opening to our entrees. The entrees, however, were a failure. My daughter's lobster roll was passable, there was an adequate amount of tasty lobster meat, but the roll was unmemorable, something I'd expect from a commercial bakery at a supermarket. The lobster roll, however, was far superior to the "14 ounce rib eye steaks" my son and I ordered. The steaks came so quickly after our appetizers that we should have been alert to the idea that they had not been cooked anywhere near the medium rare we had both requested. Some of the meat was pink, but most of it was cool and blood red, giving rise to a question as to whether parts of the meat had been under fire at all. Moreover, both portions of the meat, mine and my son's, were incredibly fatty; about a third of mine was so laced with fat and gristle - and so undercooked - that I just cut it off and didn't bother with it. I tried a couple mouthfuls of the remainder, as did my son, but most of it we just packed up and brought home to toss in stew - not that third alluded to above, though, that would've just ruined the stew. I'll take some of the blame here. If you want to get good food at a restaurant, you have to be a good customer, and I wasn't. I didn't request the waitress take the steaks back to the kitchen or otherwise indicate the significance of my displeasure. That's on me. The fact that my son and I were displeased was there for my waitress to see, but she was busy and there was nothing stopping us from articulating our displeasure. Instead, we packed up the meat me thought we could save and our desserts (two pedestrian slices of cheesecake and an equally blah lava cake) and went home. It was a Restaurant Week Special that we lost; that's OK, but it's hardly the Crime of The Century - or even The Week - I just do wish that we'd been a bit more assertive. read more

I ordered the buffalo chicken ranch flat bread , it was the daily special. Received instead the Texas BBQ . Partner ordered the grilled chicken wrap instead received fried chicken wrap. There are much better sports bars around the area. Food is overly salty and just your average bar food. Nothing special at all. The service was horrendous. It took a while for any server to come over. We had one server drop a menu off and another one finally came over another 5 minutes later. This was about a 10 minute wait time and the restaurant was not even that full. We ordered some appetizers and some drinks. The drinks were poor in taste. The heineken had that funky smell because of the lights they use in the coolers. The mixed drinks were way too strong. Normally I would not complain about that, but they were so strong it was hard to drink. When I went up to the bar to ask for a new drink because the drink was too strong, the bartender, I think Patty was her name, was not only rude, but rolled her eyes. I suggest next time that this bartender not do that when there is a mirror right behind them. Overall, go to other places unless you want slow service where the servers stand and talk to each other instead of coming to the table, and rude bartenders who clearly have had no actual bar training in their lives. read more

Stayed at the Latham Holiday Inn Express on a quick trip through the area. Read a flyer that said they had an outdoor patio with live music every Friday. Checked it out - awesome 3 piece electric band playing mellow Dead, Stones, Zevon, Gram Parsons tunes to a small crowd (with some whiners actually asking them to turn it down). Thirsty after about 3 songs and no service, and after at least 3 vapid wait staff effectively ignore me, I went inside to get a beer at the bar and asked the manager if they served food outside on the patio - "oh yeah, where are you sitting? I'll send someone out". Zombie-like waiter stops by a few minutes later and drops off a menu, then ignores me for another 30 minutes... WTF? Go back to my room to order some takeout, using the in-room menus. Call the "Mousetrap Restaurant & Bar" for delivery, and they tell me they haven't delivered in years. Call a second nearby pizza place/restaurant, and when I ask about delivery to the Holiday Inn Exoress, they hang up on me. WTF? read more

I give it 3/5 but really should give 5/5 because it's what I expected. The poor girl behind the bar waited on everyone and actually did a GREAT job. My only negative is the propped the door open for smokers so the heat and cigarette smell permeates the entire place.
