We went because of the reviews. Mistake. They do a great job with their photos (whoever is doing their social media should be congratulated), which bear very little resemblance to the food. We arrived on opening time (noon, not eleven, be aware) very excited to taste unusual things like empadanitas. Wanted to try the tacos Supreme, guacamole, homemade chips, and a few other things. The first indication of trouble? No guacamole. Nice lady behind the counter gestured to the fridge and said the avocados hadn't ripened. What were they doing in the fridge?! Second issue - no ice. Come on, folks, it's the first day of a holiday weekend! And then, out of crispy tacos. Wait. It's all supposed to be home made. How can you be out of crispy taco shells if you make them from tortillas yourself? The beef tacos (not crispy) were okay. The pico de gallo was almost all onion, which makes sense if you shop and know onion is cheap and tomatoes cost more. The empadanitas tasted and looked like they'd come out of a freezer - supposed to be chicken and potato, but I couldn't for the life of me find anything but slightly mashed potatoes in them. We broke one in half, each had a taste, then left the rest. Found out the guac and chips could be had as just chips and pico de gallo - for the same price! Seriously, since when does fresh avocado cost the same as a pico de gallo made mainly of raw onion? On top of that, I asked if the mild salsa was avocado as advertised. Yes. But there are no avocados? Is it fresh? Yes. (Rolling eyes.) Tostada. Crisp tortilla bottom (what a surprise. So it is possible.), small amount of what tasted like American cheese, cubed chicken (no, it couldn't be fresh, the pieces were all exactly the same size), grease, followed by... you guessed it. Onion with a smattering of tomato and a lot of something green that should have been cilantro but had no taste. The chips tasted home made, but cooked to the point where they were hard to bite into. Mainly, we were stunned at a bill totaling almost $60 (with tip) when we left most of our food and no one even bothered to say "Was everything okay?" let alone try to fix things. Maybe it was a different cook? Maybe they close during holidays? But this food was awful. This area isn't a hotbed of great Mexican or South or Central American food. Most people are happy with places like LaFiesta, okay. But from the reviews we'd thought this would be pretty authentic. It was anything but. read more

Bye-bye, Rosa. No more for me, thank you. The rotisserie chicken with beans and rice was the one dish that made Rosa stand out for me, and now it's gone. That was the main reason I kept coming back. Without it, I honestly don't see anything special about the menu anymore. Most of what's left feels like the same typical Mexican food you can find at countless other restaurants. The empanadas were another option I liked, but even those are not good enough to make me want to return. Very nice, small, limited seating for eat-in, but very good Latin American food! Good range of sauces with varying levels of heat and all very flavorful. Loved the menu items, ordered a burrito bowl with chorizo and had some sweet plantains. Very happy with everything! Service was quick, friendly and food was ready fast. I just tried the lovely "I love Rosa" restaurant, from having DoorDash deliver it to me. I am blown away at how amazingly awesome their food is. I cannot believe I did not know about this place sooner! I had the empanadas that were tender and flaky, and so tasty! Their beans and the rice are out of this world. I also sample the three different tacos and they were all delicious! I had planned on ordering this food and having a little bit for dinner and some for lunch and I ended up eating more than I had planned because it is that delicious!My tacos were the loaded tacos. I tried one of each the chicken, beef, and chorizo. All three were fabulous. I'm so happy to have such a wonderful place and I will most definitely be eating here many more times. I Love Rosa opened recently in the former Mr. Subb space in Waterford. They serve up a variety of Mexican and South of the Border specialties including tacos, burritos, nachos, tostadas, quesadillas, emapanaditas, enchiladas, tamales, bowls, empanadas, arepas, sandwiches, rotisserie pepper chicken, and plantain bites. They also have Mexican sodas and bottled water too. Most main items are $9.99 to $10.99 plus tax. The place is order at the counter and there are a few tables for dining-in. I stopped by I Love Rosa for takeout recently. I ordered a Chorizo Burrito ($9.99 plus tax) served with chips and Chicken Tamales ($9.99 plus tax) with one side (sweet plantains), which was ready to go in about 12 minutes. The portions of food were just right. The burrito was filled with bits of chorizo, yellow rice, black beans, peppers, onions, pico de gallo, cheese, and sour cream, wrapped in a warm flour tortilla. The homemade fried chips were warm and firm. The 2 tamales were filled with braised chicken and a soft corn mixture, a bit dry to eat. The caramelzed sweet plantains were a good side choice for the tamales. Overall, I had a good lunch at I Love Rosa and would definitely try out some of their other choices including the enchilada supreme, tostada, and churros. read more

Tried I Love Rosa out tonight and it was delicious. It's a small restaurant with a family style feel where you order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. The man who helped up was very kind and accommodating. Everything my husband and I tried was delicious and so reasonably priced. The empanaditas were so tasty (we almost devoured all of them before I remembered to take a photo). I got the pepper rotisserie chicken which was so flavorful. My husband got the enchiladas supreme with a side of green plantains and he raved about both of them. Definitely recommend giving them a try for a quick tasty bite to eat! read more

Vegetarian options are hard to come by with Central and South American food, and it's usually an afterthought and tastes that way. I Love Rosa offers vegetarian options with many of their dishes and they are GOOD. I recommend the vegetarian enchiladas myself, and the sweet plantains are not to be overlooked; they've ruined me for anyone else's. The service is friendly and the restaurant itself is clean and relaxed. Waterford is lucky to have this restaurant, it is good enough to be a destination. read more

Since the owner deleted my honest review on google, I decided I'd come here. It saddens me that this establishment used to have such a great atmosphere and service. This week I dined in and my order was messed up but I didn't complain about it, the food was still alright. I didn't complain due to the dismissive and rude manner of the woman working at the time. I don't recommend eating in here, they give you your food and that's it. Nobody comes to check on you during your meal, in fact, I had to get up multiple times to ask for things. My main concern was the dirty, sticky tables and the insect problem this restaurant seems to have. I accidentally dropped a chip and then about 10 minutes later accidentally dropped my phone as well. As I was going to pick up my phone, I noticed about 15-20 ants on the chip. Seeing that completely disgusted me. There's also a lot of flies in the restaurant as well. I hurried up and asked for the check after I noticed all the ants so I could get out of there. It's upsetting because this place used to be great with amazing service! I don't know where they went wrong! I came a little over a month ago and everything was fabulous, but after my most recent visit, I will not be returning and I don't recommend this place. I took pictures of the ants on the chip as well, if I can figure out how to post that, I will! read more
